Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. Three days ago, I took my dog in for a bath and haircut. I even paid extra to have his teeth brushed because I expected a higher-quality service. When I picked him up, it honestly seemed like he hadn't been properly bathed at all. He still smelled very bad, almost as if he had only received a dry bath. What upset me the most was the haircut. They completely ruined the shape of his face, and the hair on his forehead looked like it had been cut with zigzag scissors. He was left looking choppy, uneven, and poorly groomed. A few hours later, we called to explain the situation, hoping they would be willing to make it right. Instead of apologizing or showing any concern, the manager was extremely unprofessional. He told us that since it was only our third visit, "that's what we paid for." He also said that if we wanted our dog to smell better, we would have had to pay an additional $30. The way they handled our complaint was even more disappointing than the grooming itself. We weren't looking for an argument--we simply expected them to listen to our concerns and offer a reasonable solution. It's very disappointing to pay for a service and receive such poor results, followed by such disrespectful customer service. Unfortunately, we will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this place. read more

I went to PetSmart yesterday , just to have my dog's nails trimmed. They require a rabies certificate & they would not take the current tag that she had on her. I know the employees need to be protected, however..........STUPID RULE. Will not order online or go there again. read more

I worked here for a summer in college, and have only stopped in sparingly since. The store hasn't been renovated in that time (almost a decade) and it really could use a refresh terribly. It felt dark and outdated inside. This is not the first PetSmart I've noticed that way recently, and I almost feel like they'll go the way of Toys R Us if they're not careful. Like others have said, the prices here are quite high. I typically just use Chewy or Target, but I needed a mesh carrier as I didn't feel comfortable with the hard top I had purchased last month from a different PetSmart. My kitten had broken out of it several times and we were on a trip to New Jersey so I decided he deserved an upgrade. The mesh carrier I bought here cost over $40, which seemed a bit too high. If not in a time crunch, I would've searched around before buying it. I also noticed that it was impossible to find staff on the floor. The one girl I did see was texting on her cell phone, so I assumed she was on break. She was not. I think PetSmart serves a small purpose, but if they don't refresh their business model and lower their prices, they won't exist in a few years. read more

Pet hotel staff fir day of play awesome. Groomers unprofessional and untrained. Suggested shaving my Samoyed. Said she was matted and probably had hematomas inter her fur. First you don't shave Samoyeds. Second we take good care of our dog and would know if take had a skin problem. Took her to K9 kingdom and they did an awesome job. She was not matted. This store is over priced. They no longer price match with Chewy. I'm so done shopping at a store where I have to search for cheaper prices. Their prices are astronomical...which is ridiculous with the buying power they have! They have lost a customer who shopped there weekly spending no less than $50 at a pop! i think the people who work there need more education on the animals there selling becuase i was getting two beta fish (both male) i had a huge tank at home for them and when i found the 2 i liked my mommom who took me didn't know anything about fish and a worker came up and said i can't house 2 males together ofc i was pissed and angry that i couldn't get 2 now because some damn petsmart employee said they would fight without even knowing what tank size i have (20 gallons) hopes this helps!!!! i did get another beta later but it really made be upset becuase it was my gift for me going into surgery later that week!!! but idk i have a guinea pig form petsmart and he is the best guinea i had ever had i have some mix feeling !!!!!! :) :) bye!!!!! read more

Nice store however, Customer Service could use a little work. Took my pet to have shots that are part of the program I chose. During my "your pet is ready" phone call the associate Michelle Smith (Banfield Sewell) said, "Your pet is going home with..." then while there to pick pet up she tried to charge me... Never did she say, "Your pet is due for....(that isn't part of your program) and will be an additional cost of $$$." Customer Service like this will just cause me to purchase, whatever my pet needs, online. (outside of your store). I have no issue purchasing what is due however communicate that. You wouldn't leave a routine medical checkup having paid hundreds for things you need without someone having advised of what or why you needed it. read more

There's been alot of talk about Petsmart, recently. I have been taking our dog, Harley, there to be groomed, for 7 years. I've never had an issue. Our dog is a collie, shephard mixed. He is very tempermental, I warned the groomer, if he's not cooperating, whatever your doing, stop. I have the same groomer for Harley, each visit. I call to check on him, never a problem. I pick him up, when they call, he's clean, happy and trimmed. If the grooming isn't what I requested, they will fix it. Never a problem. I tip the young lady that does Harley, she does such s great job. I will keep using Petsmart, as I pleased with their services. I am not lifting an 80 lb dog into the tub; then have a clean-up job afterwards. Keep up the good job, Mantua Petsmart. read more

Yesterday, I visited store #1627 Mantua in Sewell, NJ, and was dismayed to see a lighted display near the entrance of small tropical fish in small plastic lidded jars set in a large display of a shelving system grid of rows and columns. The display was very brightly lit by LED lights underneath each jar. A few of the fish were dead and others were near death. I spoke to the manager about this situation, and frankly, he was surprised to see the dead fish on the shelves. He listened to my complaint politely and removed two of the jars before I left, but I strongly doubt that the lighting was reduced or water changed. He did say that the display was created by corporate so this is not something that could be removed after a few complaints from his customers. The brilliant lighting system is opposite to how these tropical fish live in the wild, where the lighting is softer and more subdued. Although there were holes in the lids of the plastic jars, how fresh was their water? How many days was each fish in its jar? And how much oxygen was left in the stale water of each one? Although the display may appear to be attractive and a good idea to someone in the design department, I can say with absolute confidence that if I were an aquarium owner, those little fish would be the last animals I would spend my money on. They may be "just a fish" to most people, but they suffer pain and trauma the same as any dog, cat, bird, or reptile in your store. Your employees are busy cleaning tanks and waiting on customers. It's not a stretch say that no one is paying attention to a few tiny fish in a big display. This was a disturbing sight. Although PetSmart is in the business of selling animals, and fish are a popular commodity in your store, it is upsetting and unacceptable to see blatant abuse against any animal for any reason at any time. I appeal to your humanity and implore you to investigate this situation, to change and/or remove these display jars as soon as possible. Patricia M. read more

If I could give grooming zero stars, I would. Back in September, I took my then five month old puppy for a puppy cut/nail trimming/sanitary trim. He came back covered in razor burn. It was so bad that we needed to put him in shorts and put cream on various areas to give him some sort of relief and to try to prevent infection. Fast forward to today. Thinking that maybe it was rare mistake, I took him back for a quick nail trim, no groom. Two minutes later, I was paged to come pick him up. I was told they could not complete the service as he was too stressed and was apparently trying to bite the worker (he's never bitten, snapped, or snarled, not even under stress, and he's had his nails cut at the vet before, without issue). Due to stress, he released his bowls and expressed his anal glands. They handed him to me, smelling and dirty, and told me that I could go to the front to get a refund. Although I received a refund and an apology, I don't understand why this continues to be an issue at Petsmart, or why they did not offer to clean him up. I will no longer do grooming business with Petsmart and will return to using the vet and a more specialized, experienced grooming service for cuts and trims. read more

I have had my dog at day camp and was relatively happy with his care. My complaint is in regards to scheduling an appointment. Whenever I try to call to book there is at least a 10 to 15 minute wait just to speak with someone which is ridiculous! I could understand once in a while but I try calling frequently and it's always the same situation. read more

Shame on Petsmart. You don't REALLY care about animals. Smh I am so ashamed of pet smart in Sewell N.J. At 12:30 this afternoon my wife and I were coming out of pet smart noticed a girl standing in the parking lot so I went over and down by her feet was a 5-6 month old kitten that some one just ran over and took off, so the girl and I shaded the kitten lying on the hot asphalt as her cousin ran in to pet smart to get the vet, he came out about 5 minutes later and he said the vet said theirs nothing they can do, they wouldn't even come out to look at it. It had two broken legs and we didn't want to move it but had to so another woman had a roll of paper towels and we had the cardboard bottom that our dog food came in you I padded around the kitten and slid it onto the cardboard but I didn't even get to the truck and it died. The whole time being about 25 minutes in pain. So we took it down the street to Bethal Mill Animal hospital and offered to pay to have it cremated, they said no they will take care of it and thanked us for caring so much. So thank you to Bethal Mill animal hospital and shame on you pet smart. read more

So I took my dog to the pet hotel at petsmart in Sewell. From what I could see, the facility was nice. I had my dog stay overnight and get groomed in the morning. I picked her up in the early afternoon. Everything seemed fine when we saw her. They did a great job grooming her (I have a husky so it's no easy task). Then we walked outside and as soon as we got to the mulch area she released her bladder which took longer than usual. Then she immediately had a bowel movement. To me, this is unacceptable. Who knows how small the area was they were keeping her in so she wasn't able to release herself or the last time she was taken out to go to the bathroom. I won't be taking her back. read more

Extremely disappointed to say the least. I've been bringing my (small) dog here for doggy day camp the last 8 or so years. The employees are generally great (from what I know) but after today it makes me wonder all the things we don't know that actually go on. Went to pick my dog up around 4:45 paid and waited. My dog was laying beside a HUGE dog, calm, chill. As the girl went to the door to retrieve my dog another (small) dog not only snapped but bit my dogs face, my dog yelped very loud and ran and hid under the play ground they have set up in the room. But no body did much or thought much. The other girl who was actually in the room watching over the animals looked at me in absolute horror (NOW scooping up the little you know what) as the other girl goes over and pulls my dog out by her paper collar against her will. I try to remain calm knowing animals have their off days & there is only so much one can do in that situation. I say to the girl I'm an extremely loyal customer and come here all the time I do not want that dog in with my dog ever again please make note of it, thanked her and left. Trying not to flip out as I too work in customer service. I get home and my dog seems okay but I'm getting more and more upset so I call. Was told oh that's how that dog reacts to doors he does it ALL.THE.TIME. Excuse me what? Why would you allow a dog with obvious aggression towards something normal in there? I wonder how many other dogs it's bitten and if their owners have had the pleasure of watching it. I was dismissed. Makes me wonder what's happened in all these years that I don't know about. I guess if billy punches Suzy in the face every time the bell rings for recess it's also just a normal reaction right? Wrong. I FEEL like I'm overeating but honestly that's my like my child and it wasn't a good feeling, and it couldn't have been a good one for her either. I'll take a moment and write to corporate but most of the times who you hire is a direct reflection of who's above you so I don't I'll get far. I am done with pets mart and after all the recent horror stories I've heard I guess I should've been done a long time ago. You've got some great employees but maybe some could use more training. But I am writing to talk about the kindness of the staff. I was helping to transfer a rescue dog to his new home and drove 2 1/2 hours to this location. The new owner was coming up from Maryland and was rather delayed. The manager took extra care to bring my dog ice water and the staff was all very nice to us as we hung out and waited. read more

My boyfriend and I came in since he wanted to buy a hamster and I was looking to buy a goldfish. The guy who tried helping us didn't help us at all and pretty much said we weren't sure of what we were doing when we were sure of what we needed. We were told by this worker that we couldn't buy the animals. I can understand maybe with the hamster but with a fish? As a pet store, this place is fine. But I wouldn't ever bring my dog here to be boarded again. I'm pretty convinced he was just crated the entire time. They told me wouldn't defecate the entire time he was there, telling me he was not in a comfortable environment at all. I felt like a bad dog mom when I picked him up, like I left him somewhere that he didn't want to be. THEY ARE MEAN, and when the groomer grabbed m y dog and tried to cut her nails, and i protested the treatment, they told me i was not welcome there any more. they dont know how to cut dogs, they mistreat them in the back, the manager of the grooming department "arlene" is a basket case, and tries to be y our friend, then mistreats you and the animals behind your back. I went to inquire about doggie day camp at this location because I need someone to watch my dog while I'm at work! I WAS supposed to start a new job today! I was told I could bring her at 7am & drop her off! What I was NOT told was I needed her records, because I use Banfield they said they had them. So I go to drop her off today, and only THEN they tell me 2 of her shots are expired! I'm told if I get the shots today, I can bring her in Wednesday morning. So I go to Banfield, get the shots for $126, they tell me everything is good & I should be able to board het &start my job Wednesday! So I call the daycare, NOPE! Thursday!!!! "We're very strict about the 48hrs"..... so now I can't start my new job until THURSDAY!!! Yes, I get they have rules in place for good reasons. My problem is that their communications skills are HORRIBLE & if they told me all this last Friday, I may have been able to make other arrangements!!! But now because of their lack of communication, I'm out $480!!!! Thanks Pet Tart! Go back to school & learn some communication skills! read more

I agree with kerry, prices here are very high. Especially for common items like dog leashes, bowls, treats, bones, toys, etc. On average expect to pay 4x the price. The only reason to shop here is they carry a wider variety of pet food that other non-pet stores don't have. read more

My 16 year old son was very excited to get fish for his 55 gallon tank, and employees Robin and Matt were incredibly rude. My nephew accompanied us who already has a tank and fish are his hobby to help us. Robin and Matt repeatedly told us we were making a huge mistake. It would be understandable if they were trying to educate us nicely, but as we were purchasing the fish they said "We're judging you". Horrible customer service! Also Zach said "I've been here for 50 minutes and I'm already ready to go home." Where was the manager responsible for these immature children? WE WILL NEVER RETURN TO PETSMART.
