I cannot say enough wonderful things about Autumn at PetSmart! She is absolutely amazing and SO smart. My Augie doggy (an Airedale Terrier, which is pretty uncommon here in South Texas!) instantly loved her. You can just tell she knows her stuff--she even had experience with his breed, which gave me so much confidence. When we picked him up, we were blown away--his hair looks incredible! Autumn truly brought out his handsome personality, and my kids were SO excited to see their "doggy brother" looking fresh, fluffy, and oh-so dapper. Autumn went above and beyond, and we could feel the love and care she put into every detail. I'm so thankful we found her, and we'll definitely be coming back. Honest Review After 20 Years as a Loyal Customer I've been a customer at this grooming salon for about 20 years, starting with my Yorkie-Poo and Yorkie. After my Yorkie-Poo passed two years ago, I added two new puppies (a Yorkie and a Poodle) to the family -- I now have three dogs total. Over the years, I've always booked back-to-back appointments with more experienced or master groomers and have tipped generously (usually between $30-$40). Sadly, my most recent experience has led me to reconsider continuing with this business. Since my usual groomer recently left, I booked with another experienced groomer, Brittany. From the beginning, the tone of the interaction felt cold and dismissive. When I dropped off my dogs, I was told by a staff member -- and again by Brittany -- that pets could only be dropped off 30 minutes prior to their individual appointments. This was frustrating because I've always dropped off my dogs together without issue. It was the first time I had ever been informed of such a rule. Later, I was told they do "stacked appointments," meaning they book two dogs per time slot -- something that isn't made clear anywhere on the scheduling app. Had I known that, I would've called to ensure my appointments were stacked accordingly. Again, no other groomer has ever explained this policy to me before. When I returned around 1:40 PM to pick up my pups, only one groomer was present, and it wasn't Brittany. In the past, the groomer who actually worked on my pets would come out and discuss how things went -- a personal touch I appreciated. This time, a different person informed me that Brittany had no issues with one dog, but said the other was easily distracted by barking during drop-offs and pickups. I was told to consider weekday appointments when it's less busy. I was also told clipping his nails was difficult -- something no previous groomer ever mentioned. For the record, this pup is only 9 months old. A bit of high energy is expected, and I would've appreciated a more understanding tone rather than what felt like an indirect complaint. All in all, there's a noticeable shift in energy and customer service at this location. The groomers seem unhappy, the atmosphere is tense, and the welcoming attitude that kept me coming back for two decades just isn't there anymore. Sadly, I won't be returning with any of my three dogs. While I've always been happy to tip well, I didn't leave one this time. And while I hope this review is taken constructively, I'm not optimistic anything will change. For those who continue to go here, I sincerely wish you a better experience. read more

Worst ever! Scheduled appointment for shampoo and cut for today. First: a $5 surcharge for "vacation week" since TOMORROW is 4th of July. Nothing on website regarding this--just a surprise additional charge. Second: also scheduled dog for dematting (extra $10 for 15 minutes of brushing) but groomer insisted she would probably need to shave dogs' legs because she might "get skin burn" with all the brushing. When I went there today, the majority of the staff came together and gave us their best disappointed looks. They don't even know your tank, and after deciding which fish to take, their interest in you goes to zero, and they give you their frustrated face. There, my brother and I felt truly unwelcome. In particular, the tall, bearded man in charge of the fish section will immediately conclude that you are a lousy fish keeper. Solid groomers who are customer friendly. Long story short, the customer service here is top notch. The system showed our dog needed a rabies vaccine so the technician called our vet for proof of vaccine. She worked through multiple clerical errors in the PetSmart and my vets system to get to ground truth all for my dog to get her nails ground. Lots of leg work for an $11 grooming procedure shows that the groomer cared about my experience. Obviously the quality of grooming was good-we're coming here as our standard spot from now on. Returned a product and bought something else. They rang it up by deducting the price of the returned item from the new ( more expensive) item. Both my credit cards were rejected. When told them that it's their machine ( recently used card successfully) I asked to have it rung up differently. They refused. We had to use cash. Took my husky here for grooming, groomer name was Faith. I told them when I dropped her off that she gets anxious and doesn't like the blow dryer on her face. Well they called half way through and asked if they could cut A single mat out of her neck which I said was fine and these f**** shaved around her ENTIRE neck and butt with no grace. She even shaved ONE side of her whispy cheek hair. It's butchered and uneven. Faith needs to either be re educated or fired, you cannot be a groomer without patience and the vibe I got from her snarky note was that my dog frustrated her so she butchered her. There are long term damages to the hair follicles when you shave a double coated dog, my dogs hair will never grow back the same and Petsmart needs to better educate their employees. I brush my dog everyday and try to get her groomed semi regularly but unfortunately she's a long coat husky that had some minor mats on her neck, I noted them before I dropped her off. Any other qualified and well trained groomer would have either brushed it out with the proper tool or simple snipped the spot. Today we brought our dogs to get groomed. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. Our small dog was groomed by Luis M. he was great. He even called about an hour later to check on our dog because I told him about some health issues we had with her. Our large dog was groomed in the afternoon by Lauren. She was amazing. Our dog was being a brat and she handled it so well. She was being so sweet about his behavior but I felt terrible. Everyone else we interacted there we just as great. Wonderful customer service. You got me, because of course I bought a $30 leash since I was already there, but in the future I'll probably avoid this store (I consider that a slap in the face). Other reasons this store disappoints- No doggie day camp or hotel. That's the one reason I was excited to have a PetSmart so close to home. With a Petco and HEB Plus that provide toys etc... PetSmart really should have brought something more to the table. And I don't mean their overpriced veterinary clinic. I was returning a flea medication and we had used one of three portions in the package. As you may imagine, with no receipt and an opened box I thought, they're not going to give me the time of day. I was very pleased with the results. The regional manager "Lance" was near the register when I entered the store. He was smiling and approachable. I explained the situation and told him that this product didn't work for my dog. He promptly offered a refund or exchange. He then helped me pick out products that he recommended and I found him to be not only knowledgeable but also caring and understanding. I went in around noon today to get a few more hermit crabs for my tank. The man there was very helpful and patient while I chose them. My only complaint is that there wasn't much to choose from. The tank is very small and you can't really tell which hermit crabs are there and which ones are just extra shells. Hopefully those remaining crabs (if there are any) will get out of their soon before they die in the poor condition they've been put in as the lack of space and resources can cause them to die read more

II took my Yorkieshire for a groom this past Saturday in the morning. When booking my appointment I mentioned that my dog was deaf and a rescue baby. She has also had bad experiences at the groomer before when we did not know she was fully deaf. The last mentioned that it would be slow in the morning and that the person doing the grooming was well trained. Dropping my dog off was a great experience. The receptionist was nice and was able to carry my dog and actually care for her. She was treating the dog good and with passion. She mentioned that the groomer was not there yet, but will come in a few minutes. She mentioned that instead of scaring my dog that she would hold her for the few minutes. 2.5 hours later I got a call saying that my dog was not letting the groomer cut her hair. I rushed over there to pick her up. Unfortunately, my dog was in the back and I had to wait about 10 minutes for them to get her. She was shaved from everywhere, but her head. Even my babies ears were shaved to the skin. (She had a few long hairs on her ear). Her nails were half way done and sharped because the groomer didn't complete the job. They didn't even shower her. I wonder what they were doing for the 2 hours!! All it looked like was a bad shave and uneven. The groomer didn't feel bad or mentioned a "sorry". If she knew she couldn't do the job it would have been best to call me to pick her up sooner. As for being "well trained", picking her up, I was asking questions and my questions were being referred to another person in the back. Horrible experience! Called in the morning asked about a walk in service to get my dogs ears plucked and cleaned- a employee on the phone said all I needed was proof of my dogs rabies vaccination. I usually take my dogs to K9 cafe on Babcock but needed something quick, so I opted for this place. Upon arriving nobody greeted me and it took awhile for anyone to ask what I needed. The employee asked me the general questions- and when asked for the rabies paperwork I handed over what the vet gave me. The employee I guess didn't understand the paper then asked another employee to go over it. Rudely the women said she can't take my dog?????? All because the place I took my dog gave me hand rewritten vaccine paperwork unconventional I agree but it was all that the vet gave me. I even stated he has his tags? And the paper work had the expiration date on it. But because it was hand written she couldn't confirm he actually has the vaccine? LOL my dog frequents doggie day care (not here), and has been to other grooming facilities and I've never had any issues. Extremely rude women at the Banfield hospital there I will NEVER go back to that location and stay at my Dezavala location. Taylor at the register was extremely rude and in professional along w/ the young girl wearing glasses there too. I was taking my kitty for nail clipping for the 2nd time and they said he need to be sedated but he hadn't before. Just the way they treated us and my kitty was just bit professional.....slammed and scooter it's crate so rough! I don't suggest going here at all!!!! So hurt w my kitty now so scared and shaking! I have never felt more disrespected than when I was in this store. I was returning an item that unfortunately did not work and the cashier helping me was extremely nice and apologetic because she was unaware of how to return my money. The manager Jonathan came up and told me that because I couldn't verify that I bought the item (eventhough I had the receipt) and I could've possibly stolen the item I wasn't going to get my refund. I don't know how I could've stolen the item if I had the receipt but because my credit card was stolen and the bank sent me another I couldn't get my return. To be told I stole the item is absolutely ridiculous. I myself am a manager and would never say that to a customer. I am completely appalled and now I'm stuck with an item that does not work and out over a hundred dollars. I thought petco was bad but then I came here. One this store is super small and their prices are high when compared to the competition. Upon visiting I was browsing the fish section of the store and saw many dead and sick fish. I also overheard a employee giving advice to a new fish keeper. The pet smart employee was selling the customer a 5 gallon micro tank and was suggesting that the customer could fit a gold fish in there... On goldfish requires at least 35 gallons!!! I actually started going to this location for grooming when my Australian Shepherd was given a buzz cut instead of the routine maintenance cut he was supposed to get. I've never had a problem at the Bandera location until today when I received a call while pulling up in the parking lot canceling my appointment that was scheduled in 15 minutes. I was told the groomer called in and they just now got around to calling. I understand there are other things going on around you like checking in other pets for services, but I would think there would be ONE person who could start making the calls to cancel the appointments for the missing groomer...I don't know, maybe a member of management. I don't know about anyone else, but that seems like poor management and not very "team" oriented. No worries Petsmart, I haven't given up on the entire company. I know that there had been a bit of a bad stigma when it came to the grooming department for petsmart. But I have to say that I Love this Petsmart. They have always been patient with my 90 pound Dobermans. They go above and beyond every time I have ever gone to them. Just for example today when I went to drop off my dogs for their appointment and another dog set off my dogs another groomer step then help me hold both of my Dobermans due to all of the excitement without me even asking. I went to pick up my dogs I was having difficulty getting my harness on one and they helped put the harness on the other dog while they were waiting for me to finish with the one that I had they did this without me even asking them to do anything and that says a lot. They always tell me how sweet they are and you can really tell that they genuinely care. read more

*****Don't get your pets groomed here****As I was walking into Petsmart I was at the entrance waiting for my 3 year old to enter the store. I looked in the grooming area and saw a dog getting groomed. They have them leased to a hook, I'm guessing to keep them still. As I was watching he slipped off off the table basically hanging himself. Rather than run around the other side of the table to pick him up the groomer lady kept trying to pull him over back on to the table. It took her about 10-15 secs to get him back on the table. My heart sank for the little guy. I finally got my son and headed to what I needed so I could get the hell out of there. I noticed she had saw that I had saw what had happened and I gave her an ugly look. I feel I should have said something to the manager but I didn't bc I was so upset and was afraid I'd get upset at her. I just left but it has me worried for the little guy and now regret not saying anything. read more
