This store for grooming ,especially, deserves negative ratings and should be shut down. Grooming employees REFUSE to take dogs out to use the bathroom, leave dogs in extreme stress, disregard customer wants/directives when dogs are dropped off, and refuse to communicate. A bath takes over 4 hours, no communication when dogs are ready to be picked up, etc. If the grooming staff is allowed to take a damn smoke break, they can take the dogs to the fucking bathroom! read more

Had a wonderful experience, and I found it hard to even believe that another customer wrote that the register employee was racist, as I found the exact opposite. Staff was very polite and just as helpful to my girlfriend and I as they seemed to be with everyone there. It is nice to be able to shop and not be seen as anything other than a dog lover which is what we are not any color or breed like the pets. She died after eating Purina wet food. She could no longer go to the bathroom or eat anything. My other Chihuahua, Lucy, also got very sick, same food. She too died from something like a sudden system failure. My neighbor's black Border Collie mix, Raymond, also died from the same batch of food, the night he ate it. 3rd Chihuahua, Dante, got sick, had to go to Vet. Only one who survived. All the same food. My Vet had prescribed garbage Hills Prescription Diet & Hills Science Diet after Dante was sick from the Purina. Went to PetSmart, bought 1 bag and 2 cans. I still had 6 cans from months before, same stuff, dogs hated it. NOWHERE else near me, not even the Vet's, that sells it. PetSmart made a huge to-do giving us some "prescription card". Then the official Science Diet recall happened. Stopped feeding him immediately, shouldn't be a problem with an "official recall" at PetSmart, right? Wrong! I take in the 1 bag and 8 cans, I have the receipt for the bag and 2 cans, other cans you could look under my Frequent Rewards account and find it. But the "Assistant Manager Chris" at the Roseville, MI store did not want to do any returns! He tells me, he can't return these RX items without that RX card! What? He's holding my actual RECEIPT, I've had a PetSmart Rewards card for over 20 years! Why do I need the RX card? Where does it say this in ANY store policy? It's not even stated on the receipt. I said "Show me." He said "No." This was an "official recall" by Science Diet, animals are getting sick, and this idiot at PetSmart is telling me I need this RX card, that I threw away when this recall hit, to return the items that are on the receipt AND on my Rewards card. So I argued, show me this return policy, where does it say for RX foods I need the RX card, but NOT the actual receipt? It doesn't. Then he says, that's HIS policy! He doesn't have to follow PetSmart's rules! He said "I'll do you a favor this one time and give you a store credit..." So PetSmart's employees have their OWN POLICY to go against corporate rules and do whatever they want, even not taking back official recalls that they sold to us and make our pets sick. PetSmart's Official Return Policy. There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING on it about needing the RX card that they issue when you buy RX food from them, you don't even need the receipt, and Chris' fairytale return policy is not on the receipt I handed him. I said that in my car, I had the Purina food that made my dogs sick, one of my Chihuahuas died after eating this, another later did, so did my neighbor's dog, same stuff. I wanted to make sure I could get a store credit if I carried it in from my car. I wanted it pulled from their shelves. They can destroy it in cases such as these. I did not want it to be resold. "Assistant Manager Chris" at the Roseville, MI store tells me the following in half a minute: a. You need to complain to Purina to get your $$$ back b. You need to complain to Purina, have them contact PetSmart to tell us to give your $$$ back c. No, I'll only give you a store credit for the Purina food d. You can't have a store credit or a refund for the Purina food you bought at PetSmart e. You have to have the Store Mgr give you the refund f. I'm not authorized to do "large refunds" g. I don't know when the Store Mgr works, maybe Monday? h. I'm not sure of his name, oh wait, it's Greg i. No, I can't check Greg's hours for Monday, the schedule isn't made yet (even tho it's 8PM on Saturday) At no point did he even ASK if I had a receipt. He didn't offer to check my Rewards card. He was doing this "as a favor". My 2 dogs DIED from this Purina wet food. So did my Neighbor's dog. My other dog was sick and at the Vet from the Purina wet food. So I'm not asking for my Vet bills to be paid by PetSmart, I was asking them to honor their own Return Policy. The No-Hassles Return Policy. What a joke! I also asked Chris to contact Purina, let them know the situation. Nope. "How can i contact them then?" His answer, "Figure it out yourself." 3 out of 4 dogs died after eating this Purina wet food. PetSmart DID NOT CARE, would not pull the food, would not contact Purina. The store mgr., Greg, emailed me, then did nothing with my response. Petsmart has groomed Pepper twice now and she's always so soft when they're done! I'm just thankful because they usually have same day availability (which no one else ever does) and online booking. It's convenient and at the end of it I have a smart looking pup. A note, if your dog needs their anal glands expressed (gross, I know, but sometimes necessary) be sure to mention it on check in. The store is clean & peaceful. Sometimes I get stressed out shopping because there is obnoxious music or ads playing on the PA speakers. It's not like that here. The employees don't really approach you, but if you ask for help they do their best. At one point I had 3 people reading the fine print ingredient lists on cat food cans. They have a great variety of foods, toys, litter... I like the perks of their Treats rewards program and they will combine coupons with a low price match guarantee. I think Petsmart has really stepped up in the last year, especially during the COVID-19 crisis. This is one of the few places I can shop without having an all out panic attack. read more

After she told me my dogs anal glands had nothing in them I asked to not be charged for that service. What's even worse is she has waited on my dog before? Today I came in asking about a snuffle mat for my pup and asked 2 employees where I could find them . I asked a cashier if they could look up an item number to see if they had something in stock. Both employees said they did not have the item without even trying to check and then on the website it said I could buy online pick up in store today. My nervous rescue pup was used as a training prop for their obedience class, without my permission. I was trying to use the tag making machine near the entrance before leaving, and the trainer on duty kept directing her student to approach my dog, even though I asked them to give us space. My terrier is incredibly nervous, and I was hoping to use this shopping trip as a way to help desensitize him to new situations. Had the trainer recognized how uncomfortable he was with their approach, or even just listened to me, we would have had a successful visit, instead of triggering a nervous reaction with my dog. I, too, am a certified obedience trainer, and I would never dream of using random customers for my class without their permission. I am sorely disappointed in the lack of professionalism in their dog training classes. read more

This Pet Smart is great! My dogs love going here. It's almost like taking a teenager to the mall how excited they get!! I have taken one of my dogs there for the puppy training class and it was fantastic! She is very well trained and behaved because of that class/ I like the large variety of products and animals you can buy things for there. From goldfish and everything aquarium related to most 4 legged friends as well. The grooming there is good for a quick pop in to get the pups nails cut. Check out this huge pet store its great. The pet adoptions they have on the weekends rock! It's nice to see people doing nice things for the animals! read more

I personally love this PetSmart, my girlfriend and I visit here at least once every week to 2 weeks because we maintain many different fish tanks. We rarely have run into any issues regarding their stock here. The employees have always been great with us here. Specifically Nick, who is always knowledgeable and pleasant to interact with. I recently purchased a small Betta tank that was on sale, when I brought it home I realized it was cracked. I returned to the store and they did not have any other tanks for that specific deal so Nick allowed me to pick out a different tank for the same price. This was so helpful to me since most places wouldn't have bothered to go above and beyond for someone like that. Highly recommend this store just for the staffs awesomeness alone. read more

Roseville Ca I received an email asking for payment for Oliver's grooming I arrived a little early the groomer I booked with didn't show up. No call no do you want to reschedule. A man came out to check him in. No hi Oliver I'll be your groomer. Than after 10 minutes trying to check me in. I asked are you grooming him. He was nice but no connection to my puppy.  I agree to let him groom Oliver than find out he would have to stay in A crate for an hour and a half. What's the point of an appointment  McKenzie came over after taking this traumatized  puppy she was grooming down off the table and helped book another appointment. But  I was watching her groom this puppy,  man handling and mouthing off to this lil dog  his eyes oh my god in terror. I just can't take the chance of ever taking my puppy here again. . I think she does the sanitary trim and paws. IDK this is the second time I have seen her do this. I think I'm going to report her. Again. she was nice to me sort of but she looks so frustrated with the puppy. They pick up on that, she didn't try to calm it down just scolding him with it crying. She finally took him down for his bath. No petting no ok honey just like a piece of garbage I did say something to the groomer checking me in. Saying why is she so rough it is not the first time I've seen this. He didn't say a word. The place was a mess fur all over. There were two other groomers walking around back and forth. No at least sweeping the floor. I booked with Lincoln I will cancel my Monday appointment with Roseville. But to be honest both my daughter and now myself have nothing but bad experiences here. there was a great groomer Chelsea but she is no longer working there. So to say Oliver was ready and wanting payment after not even being groomed and this again experience watching McKenzie I can't bring my puppy here,  a bad experience at the Rocklin site after they shaved my puppy wanting only a trim, now here . I complained about 6 months ago about McKenzie Apparently no one has addressEd the issue and btw no welcome. Hi Oliver,  your suppose to be groomers right handling our pets not checking out grocery's. Even checking out groceries  the clerks are more friendly. This is a HUGE Pet Smart store and it offers a variety of services. One Saturday I was forced to take the dogs around, and I decided it would be a good chance to get their food. I landed right into the chaos that is Pet Smart. Here is a list of what was going on: 1. Dog training classes 2. Puppy/kitten adoption drive 3. Greyhound owners fund raiser/meeting 4. Full service grooming I was blown away. Luckily, the store is broken up into logical sections to avoid traffic. My dogs were mad with glee seeing all the animals out and about. They have almost every type of supplies for dogs, cats, fish, birds, and small mammals out there. Much like the Mall at Partridge Creek, this Pet Smart is the place to "be seen" with your pooch on the eastside. Like a handsome tie or trendy handbag, people bring their dogs in fishing for compliments. Of course I'm guilty of fishing for them myself, despite acting surprised when people ask "What breed is that?" or "How old is she?". Its the small things people. Few tips: - If your dogs are well behaved, most cashers will offer them a small treat. Perfect for them on the ride home. - Get the Pet Smart discount card. It saves you money. If you lost the card, they can look up your code via your phone number. - If your dog is overly aggressive, avoid bringing them in on weekend mornings. Lots of other dogs and families with kids are there. It is near impossible to control a rowdy dog in this environment. read more

My fish that I got from pet co died so I had to get new fish my mom took me too pet smart. I picked out two comet gold fish the ones that I got costed 31 cent each. When I got home not even 30 minutes later the fish died I called up to pet smart and asked them if I could get new fish cause the fish that I had died they said no. They didn't even get to get in to the tank they died. They really need to fix that policy of theirs. read more

I saw something on the website, went into the store to get it and it was twice as much in the store. This store is generally okay when I go in. I usually can find what I am looking for. Sometimes you can find some good deal. The store itself is generally pretty clean and the cashiers for the most part work quickly and seem to be friendly enough. I often come to the store to buy fish. The tanks usually are pretty clean and well taken care of. The last time I was in the store I was highly disappointed. I had decided to purchase some fish and their was an employee that was "checking the snails". I advised her I would like to purchase some fish and she said she would be with me in a minute. I said okay and waited. I continued waiting while she finished what she was doing. She came down from the ladder, walked right past me without a word and left through an employee only door. I was shocked she didn't say anything first but I proceeded to wait and after 5 minutes I ended up just leaving and going elsewhere. read more

Got my little Shih Tzu last year, he was 10 weeks old and I wanted to get him to the groomer. I make the appointment here, take him in, and was asked where his shot records were, I handed them what was given to me. She tells me that he hasn't had his rabies shot, I explain that he's too young to have that yet, rabies is usually given at five to six months. It doesn't matter, she has wasted my time because she did not tell me this to begin with and gives me some BS about how they have to protect their groomers from my vicious 10 week, 4 lb, Shih Tzu. I go down the road to Pet Supplies Plus where I find a great groomer that understands that she is not in peril with my puppy. The best part was that Pet Supplies Plus was actually cheaper. read more

Very UNPROFESSIONAL staff that work in the grooming center. I bought my dog there to get a simple trim on his behind so his poop doesn't get stuck in his fur. Anyways the whole time I was there, there was so sign of organization.. The groomer was asking everyone if she could borrow someone's trimmers. Also there was maybe 5 or 6 staff members that were arguing very loudly about how their previous customer claimed that the one of the groomers cut the dog's neck with the trimmers all while they were trimming my dog. I found this to be very unprofessional and made me very nervous, as they were doing the same thing to my dog (lucky I checked my dog and they didn't cut him). Very very unprofessional... I called several other pet stores to see if they had something I could put on my daughter's greyhound (who I'm babysitting) that scraped his paw pad. They were very helpful on the phone and found these rubber sock like things I could put on him. When I went the store, a lady named Ashley helped me pick out the proper size, she happened to have two greyhounds herself. She was super helpful. When I went to pay for them, Lexi (who helped me on the phone call) made sure to give me the lowest price she found on the web for them. i like their store as a whole. Lots of options, choices and variety however the grooming need improvement and they need to work on the fish dept. I got my dog groomer here first when she was a puppy. We got the puppy cut. Shes a miniature poodle, though we dont get the poodle cut. We took her a handful of times but ending up finding A LOT of missed areas every time and I ending to taking some scissors and carefully finishing their job. The fish dept needs work!! I bought my 20G aquarium here. Priced reasonable. They told me to get it set up filled and all, to wait a week before putting fish in it. After 7 days i went and bought 6 fish, within 48 hours THEY ALL died!! Petsmart has a GREAT return policey for fish, although i see why. I took them back and got more. No problem. It another 3-4 days they were all dead AGAIN! I went to another store and was told it could take a month before your tank has cycled to be able to keep fish in it. Also, dont add more than 3 fish at a time. itll stress and kill them. After 5 or 6 months i tried again. Everytime they ended up dead or diseased. The guy at the store told me upon arrival 1/2 of their fish are dead. WTH?! What a waste of time AND $$$ Their Betas are great though. Ive bought 3 of them and they do just fine! read more

Out of the 3 big chain pet stores I prefer PS for little things I can't find at other stores. The prices are not bad, they always have a good clearance section. I will say the Food Reps are a big hassle, you run in real quick and they follow you around asking what type of food you feed, brand, what kind of dog, I got stuck for 20mins talking to a Pro Plan food rep when they don't even carry the food I feed in that particular brand. The employee's are friendly for the most part but hard to find someone when you need help at times. The staff seems to have their own personal knowledge of animals which is a plus compared to PS+ locations. They have a pretty big selection now compared to Petco who just recently went through a face life and put most of the items on clearance to have a smaller selection at higher prices. PS is a pretty clean, friendly place to shop for pet supplies! read more

I have 2 Lhasa apsos and they were both groomed recently at the Roseville petsmart. They have been groomed there a couple of times in the past and each time has been a positive experience for them. My dogs are seniors with specific health issues and the groomers that worked on my dogs ( Deanna and Emily) both patiently listened to my concerns and must have been very gentle because my very frightened little dogs were relaxed and happy when I picked them up. Both of these pleasant young women did a very nice job and I will be going back regularly. Thank you for the great job and your kind treatment of my girls and myself!! read more

I have been going to this pet store for grooming for my Shih Tzu mix dog for the past year or so. I am from Grosse Pointe and have had the opportunity to take my dog to private grooming salons in the area, however none of them add up to this PetSmart. The grooming staff is very well educated on how to groom a dog properly. You cannot expect the place to be completely clean, since it IS a grooming salon and hair will be all over, but it is the cleanest grooming salon that I have been to thus far. It has also been the most reasonably priced that I have seen, for all of the services offered here. read more

This is one of two places I take my Tink. The other is the do it yourself dog spa at Dogtopia in Utica. I'm a former groomer so I do the in between work myself but when I want my fur baby cleaned up and her nails done, I use this salon and generally ask for Janine who was also very good with a particularly nippy bichon poodle we have since lost to cancer. The only reason I didn't give this salon 5 stars is because there are many employees of different skill levels and not every experience I had there was perfect but I do keep going back. read more

Took my dog for a grooming appointment here. The place was packed. After 2 hours they called and said that my dog was making a nasal sound and that they would not groom him. I explained that our vet said it was a normal trait for this particular dog and it happens when he gets excited. The teenager they had working would have nothing of it. It was very obvious that they were overbooked and were using this as an excuse to get out of the appointment. Never going here again! read more

Took my shitzu puppy in for a grooming. Not trilled with the results her cut looks very choppy and there are spots they clearly missed. Also looks like they shaved from her nose up between her eyes. For the price it isn't a very good cut. read more
