AVOID THIS PLACE AND THE GROOMER "NINI" AT ALL COSTS! Today I had the worst experience at this establishment. If you bring your dog to this grooming salon, avoid NiNi at all costs. Not even a trainee could do such a poor, low-quality job. I brought my 4-year-old Sheepadoodle in for a haircut and was very clear that I did not want his hair cut short, especially because it is winter and we go out with our dog frequently. After five hours, they returned my dog completely shaved, with terrible clipper marks, and then charged me $175 for a supposed "extra brush fee." This Petsmart groomer has refused servicing my pet (cat) because they don't take the time to allow him the time to lower his anxiety from his travel and and he started getting groomed at this same Petsmart, they even blocked me from making appointments from the app, if you are a true cat groomer you know cats that travel and traveling in a carrier their anxiety is high and they need to be able to settle down from that, I even gave him a sedative and he was calm and after dropping him off, I wasn't out of the parking lot when they called and said they couldn't service my baby, I don't feel they are professional. read more

Reserving a spot for a full grooming for our Yorkie Poo, we dropped her off (after proving a rabies vaccination) and came back 3-4 hours later. They did a great job of grooming her! First, full transparency...I haven't gone for pet grooming at this location since I've had a short haired dog and my Yorkie was always just a lil too fancy (or amy nerves too bad) for a place where we couldn't confirm her technician in advance. The staff can be a little difficult to find, but once you do, they are always helpful and friendly... I think if I worked around puppies all day I would be too. Over the years (this store has been around for a long while), I've come in with some "odd" requests but the staff has always responded without batting an eye... This review is one where I wish for half points... because I'm really torn between 3 and 4... Long story short .... Don't waste your money bringing your baby here for grooming. I usually go to the Petsmart in Alexandria but didn't have enough free time today so I decided to give this location a try. You have to pay for the services before they release your pet, which I didn't mind knowing how businesses are struggling with theft these days. But I got my baby and by the time we got home I realized he still smelled exactly the same as when I dropped him off. His coat wasn't shiny and he didn't look clean at all. Today was my puppy's, and my, first experience with a groomer. I had gone online to reserve an appointment for a Bath and Brush package. It contains many services, several of which I had to request be completed after I had paid. There is no way to k ow that your dog will see a BATHER as opposed to a GROOMER - no distinctions are made online, or when dropping off the dog. Apparently, calling in to schedule is preferable to online - who knew? Word is that the bather who took care of my dog isn't sure how to trim and shave paws or sanitary area, but also didn't ask for help. I have nonproblem with the store itself, but my pooch won't be going back for grooming. read more

After being quoted $84 each online for two medium sized dogs under 12 pounds I was told once I brought them in it would be $140 for both dogs services because of the time it would take to cut their hair. I asked about just brushing and not grooming and Charles, the groomer, indicated it would be $300 just to brush them without grooming. He was rude and unprofessional and made up pricing on the spot. Found myself frantically looking for a groomer for Cole & Gracie, at the last minute before we hit the highway in the morning for Thanksgiving. Thank God we found Kristopher !! Scottie's are not plentiful in this area and many groomers miss the mark, so I get nervous when I gotta find someone new. When I tell you Kristopher truly gave them a "Scottie cut".....he nailed it. I'll most definitely be back. Nobody's bleeding, nobody has bald spots...I'm pleased. Price wasn't even bad. Most importantly, they didn't seem to be traumatized when I picked them up. Supercuts of dog grooming. Your satisfaction will varying greatly depending on who you choose. The first time I went Kirsten was my dog's groomer. She did okay but I noticed a huge chunk of hair unevenly cut in the back of my dogs head. I sucked it up and still tipped because I was desperate for my dog to be groomed and it was a last minute holiday appointment. I went a second time, a month later. Lower your expectations and whatever you do not express your disappointment to the "head groomer" Tiffany. Did not allow her to touch your dog. Her work is dismal, substandard and her attitude is contending, dismissive and plainly abhorrent. She screamed at me and belittled me the whole 5 mins while I quietly was explaining my dissatisfaction. I had to get the store manager involved. I got my money back and some vanilla bean spray for my dog on the house. My dog looked like a plucked chicken. He wasn't bathed. He still had nutritional gel caked in his fur after his "apparent" grooming appointment with Tiffany. He also did not smell fresh and was shivering. I have never seen a lab be picky about balls, but if it isn't the right size/shape/texture/squeak she wont touch it. It looks like our favorite ball was discontinued. I also had the displeasure of seeing a dog training class going on. As a professional dog trainer it took every fiber of my being not to jump in and take over the class. I have never seen a dog trainer doing Positive Rewards methodology screaming "leave it" at a dog. The dogs were visibly stressed and she repeatedly screamed "leave it" at them. Not only that, it didn't work! None of the dogs knew what was going on, they were just stressed that they were being screamed at. I was appalled and disappointed that Pet Smart would allow this to continue. Either you need to train your trainers better to updated and new techniques, or find someone who won't stain what it means to be a Positive Rewards dog trainer. read more

I have never given a one star rating in the history of my time doing Yelp. This place deserves it. We needed a last minute groom since the place we were going to try had to cancel. Cost us $71 which is pretty much the cost of some of the better higher end places, and what did I get? A nice mouthful on how our dog was "aggressive and biting". He was packed in a stressful situation, what do you expect but a bit of excitement? And it looks like they cut him under his neck, no wonder he was upset. As for biting, I notified the groomer beforehand that he gets excited with people and does do mouthing but never actually bites. Big big difference. The actual cut was uneven with random long hairs in random places. And as mentioned already a skin cut underneath next. Next time I'm just going back to Bonnie's or somewhere else. read more

They said it was $85 to bathe, cut and blow dry Marty's hair...then they tacked on an extra $14 for a total of $99 to remove matting by shaving Marty completely....we paid almost $100 for PetSmart to bathe & shave him.Complete rip off. I must start this review with the fact I understand sometimes things go wrong for me its how you correct the mistake that's important. I took my dog into petsmart to get groomed yesterday and they did a good job, so good I tipped the groomer (I believe his name was Qashmere). After picking her up and taking her home I noticed later in the evening she was not opening her left eye. I put a cold compress on it and wiped it but she still would not open it. I woke up this morning and took her back to petsmart to see what happened. I was anticipating a debate over responsibility but to my surprise a young lady (I forgot her name but very polite and helpful) immediately helped me by rinsing out her eye with saline and getting the manager. Malcolm Dorsey the manager responded over to us looked at my dog and told me that I could take the dog to my vet or to a vet located within petsmart at no cost to me. I chose the to go the vet located inside of petsmart. The immediately worked my dog and in and gave her excellent service at not cost to myself. I have to say good service is hard to find but not at petsmart today. It was so pleasant to have customer service go the way it is suppose to. We took our super anxious 3 year old Goldendoodle to be groomed here today, my husband and I were both really worried as he was shaking as we left him (we normally cut his hair at home). Well when we came to pick him up 4 hours later (he had a very thorough groom) he was wagging his tail and extremely happy with the cutest haircut we have never been able to achieve at home before!!! When my husband saw him shaking before leaving him at the store he said he's never doing this again this was a bad idea, after we picked him up he then said we will be coming back to this store every three months!! They flag people's account that are paying customer's for leaving the truth when asked to complete their survey. I thought the purpose of the survey was for me to leave honest feedback. When leaving the feedback they decided without notice to flag my dog's account and ban him from getting grooming services at this location. To top it off, I know use a mobile groomer from one of their former employees and she does an AWESOME job. She left because of how the animals are treated by the groomers at this location. I recently relocated and needed a new groomer, so I came here because of a previous yelp reviewer who raved about this place and mentioned Michelle was their groomer to their Yorkie. I just knew I needed to go right to Michelle and get my pup groomed by her and she did not disappoint. Michelle was so patient with us new clients and even knew our old groomer at the PetSmart in Rockville! She was attentive to our requests and gentle with our little one. This has been a great experience, and the best thing is finding a new groomer was not as traumatic as I thought it would be. My baby took to her very quickly and that made me feel very comfortable. I've taken my dog to this location before; at least 2 or 3 other times. I never had any major issues. The grooming there is not 5 star. it's usually 3.5 but i always had a really nice groomer who liked dogs. This last visit was the worst and I will not be going back!! the groomer name was Tierra.. she shaved damn near all the hair off of my dog something I did not ask for. I spoke to the manager who was extremely nice and helpful. he looked in the computer to see what notes she had put in about what I asked for and nothing!! she put nothing in. so she did what she wanted. Used grooming service for the first and last time, Cayla did a horrible job, got my pup back and instead of trimming her with sheers she used a clipper on zero setting on my pup's nose under her eyes, also she wasn't too pleasant with me, provided short, sharp and choppy answers, to first time customer answers. I will never go there again. Cayla should be educated in areas of grooming and customer service or placed in another department. I went in to get my cat groomed, since I wanted him clean before my cat sitter came in and he hasn't been groomed since adopting him. I put in my appointment notes that his nails had been trimmed and he had bad ingrown toenails that the vet fixed and therefore sore/healing feet. When we handed him over in the carrier the groomer tipped the carrier completely over with no regard (as if it was empty?!) and opened the door, grabbed my cat by the neck and tried pulling him out. My cat has never bitten/scratched and doesn't even try to when in distress. But he was treated as if he was feral. When he lifted him out my cats nails got STUCK on the inside of the carrier and his legs splayed open violently. Instead of grabbing a leg so that the cat could squeeze out, the groomer YANKED HIM out. Then he noticed a large scab on his toenail, which I previously mentioned to him. Before I could say anything, he said "what is this??" In a confused way and pulled the scab so quickly off that it pulled a huge clump of my cats fur out and reopened the wound. I was so worried and told him my cat isn't violent. After all of that he threw a disgusting looking leash on him. When we picked up the cat an entire hour and a half later (site said it would only take 1 hour) he was still damp and not dried completely. He's a shorthair so it shouldn't take that long. Since he was wet he picked up dirt from the floor/carrier. We took him in primarily to get his tail washed-- it had food stuck in it from before I adopted him recently. I made a note of that and also verbally told them that was mainly why we were coming in. When I inspected it later I found clumps of food still there and his tail now matted. Disgusting place. We visited the adoption center and the kittens are SO cuddly but the center is like a hoarder's closet and has trash bags, boxes, and crap up the ceiling. A depressing place and I encourage people to adopt cats from there but never wash your cat/dog here. read more

Let me first start off by letting you know that I've never been a fan of this location as I have heard many horror stories and just decided to not ever have my dog serviced there and continued to take him PetCo, their competitor. A friend of mines had told me about a groomer at this location that was really good and could provide the type of treatment I look for when seeking out groomers for my dog, as I'm VERY peculiar about who services my dog. I decided to give him (Charles) a try and have been going to him ever since, and this was about a year ago. I continued using Charles as a groomer for my dog and always made it known when booking his appointment that Charles was the only one to service my dog. This particular time was no different. I made my appointment and requested Charles as I normally did. I was out of town so I had a friend of mines drop my dog off at the groomer. When she later picked him up she discovered that his tail had been shaved and also that Charles was not the one that service my dog. When I found this out a call was made to the salon manager as well as the store manager as this was not the service I asked for, let alone had to pay for. I was informed that Charles had called out and they moved my dogs appointment to a person that had availability. This is a HUGE issue for me. Again, as I mentioned, I am very funny about who works on my dog and only agreed to have Charles work on him. There should have been a call made to me prior to ANY work being done on my dog to inform me that Charles was not in that day. Not only was I robbed of the decision to choose if I wanted my dog to get serviced in Charles' absence, I also was not able to pick who would groom him as I was never made aware of the situation. I've seen how several of the groomers at this location handles animals and treats them and I am not a fan of it. Which is why I ALWAYS make it known that no one is to touch my dog besides Charles. Needless to say that I was completely livid when I found out that someone I did not know nor approved of serviced my dog. Even if I had not been informed that Charles did not groom my dog I know it the minute I laid eyes on my dog as the quality of work did not even compare to what I would usually get when Charles grooms my dog. My dogs coat is usually shiny and smooth. What I saw and felt was almost like cotton and it felt very dry, which is strange because my dogs coat is never dry. The amount was also more than I normally pay. Even if the grooming was of standard, I would still have had an issue but to have to pay for a half done service by someone who I still don't know because I don't know who groomed my dog, and to have been charged more than I normally would is just ridiculous. When I called the same day and spoke to the Manager on duty, he informed me that he was not over the salon and told me that he would take my info and have the store manager (Tony) call me on Monday. Monday came and by 3 or 4 I still had not heard from Tony so I called him myself and informed him of what happened, which he told me he knew nothing about and that this was his first time hearing of the story. He said he would call me back once he found me information, which he did the next day offering an apology and a description of what happened. He informed me that the appointment was lost and they didn't know who the groomer was so they just gave him to a groomer who was available. My issue is the fault does not lie on my end nor should I have to pay for someone else mistake as the miscommunication was made on Petsmarts end. Tony asked me how he could rectify the situation but I'm not sure how as I would never feel comfortable about bringing my dog back as it's not certain it can't and won't happen again. This is one of the reasons I was leery about coming to this location in the first place. I never had an issue with my selected groomer when dealing with Petco and now I'm regretting my decision of leaving them and coming to Petsmart if this is normal procedure. I even emailed the District Manager a few days later but I guess customer service is not an issue for him as I never even received a response. My advice... GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! read more

Let me start by saying that I never even booked an appointment for my dog Houston. Received a vmail saying that he had one, and said "what the heck, he could use a fresh grooming." I dropped Houston off at 1030 and was told i'd be called when he's ready. Normally Houston is ready by 12pm no later than 1230. This particular day, its 145p and still no call. I go there anyway and arrive by 2pm. When I get there, the groomer JENNIFER tells me he's not ready yet. So i decide to wait thinking it'll be a few more minutes. To my dismay, Houston comes out to his grooming station untouched. I wait an hour and watch as Jennifer shaves the dog, trims his face...you know, the stuff she should have done hours ago. I ask how much longer it would be, Jennifer says, "oh he just has to have his nails trimmed." I leave and say his mother will pick him up. She then calls after I leave and says Houston is ready for pick up. I am irate at this point. So when his mother arrives to inspect the dog and talk to Jennifer about why it took 4 1/2 hours, of course Jennifer is gone. Then to top it all off, she barely trimmed his face and body and the dog is in need of another grooming. Jennifer will never touch my dog again if we decide to go back. She has terrible customer service and lacks any grooming skills at all. I also think she over-charged me as well. She gets a 0 rating. On another note, Michelle is a gem and always does a fantastic job. We love her!!! She could get a 50 rating. read more
