We have taken our dog here frequently and had full grooming. This time the groomer she wasn't stable enough and they would only be able to do trims from point onward. Barely trimmed her. Hair still all in her eyes. Still charged close to $100. Yes she likes to sit...she is 14 years old. She has earned the opportunity to sit. Yes she probably shakes but so do many dogs at the groomer. She is in no way aggressive. I preferred the original groomer in the store that she has always had who has had no trouble with her. We have had many dogs over the years including two others right now. This dog is by far the easiest dog we have to groom. I do it at home myself with no huge issues except my back can't handle it any longer. Had I seen the grooming prior to paying I would not have paid. Totally not worth it. I could have done that grooming myself in 30 minutes. They have lost customer. read more

I love taking my pups to Petsmart for grooming, they've been to just about all of the Hampton Roads' PetSmarts but for some reason at this location there is always an issue. Most recently I was told that the estimate for the next time my Huskies are groomed would be around $140! Their standard bath and brush is about $50. I've always paid extra for the brushing so I'm used to about $70 for each, but $140 was a stretch. I can take them to other PetSmart locations and not having this issue. I can pay for the Zoomin Grooming, where they come to your house and groom for less than this. Then to make matters better as I'm standing there waiting for my dogs the supervisor/manager is talking to the other stylist about how clients have to be charged for the extra hour of service if the breed requires more. According to PetSmart and when you book grooming, it does not state per hour to charge. As mentioned this isn't the first issue, in the past my puppy had supposedly pooped twice during a service and was blacklisted, I wasn't notified till I tried to book an appointment for him. More than likely it was a bad day and he hadn't had that issue before. There definitely needs to be a revamping or a clarification on services and pricing. At this point they will not be returning to this location for grooming, unfortunately since they did an awesome job. read more

We had an appointment with Victoria today and from the moment that we walked in, we knew that the appointment would not go as planned. The girl is so unfriendly and acted as though she was thoroughly disappointed that we kept our appointment. On the intake form, we disclosed that it was our puppy's first time coming to the groomer. Victoria examined our dog and went over pricing. I initiated a conversation to ensure that she knew that it was our puppy's first time at the groomer. She told us to hang around because she didn't know if it would go well and we instantly knew from her attitude and demeanor that this girl wouldn't service us. We also knew immediately that she'd find an excuse not to perform the service based on how annoyed she was when we showed up. About three minutes later, she brings us our dog along with a list of other groomers to take her to. She states that she's unable to service the dog and immediately says, "and my manager agrees with me". She states that shaving the dog would be unsafe because she became anxious when she turned the clippers on. Unsure of why she mentioned the manager - we never asked to speak to her. However, I guess she thought we'd ask for a second opinion and this was her way to make her unavailable to us. Our dog was to have a full range of services, including having her teeth brushed, nails clipped, a bath - the lot. However, Victoria refused to perform all services. We obviously won't be returning. Whether or not the services were performed, Victoria brings a very unwelcoming vibe to the shop. read more

I took one of my scaredy pups to get groomed today at this location. I was advised that he would be done in 3-4 hours. I received a call within 2 hours. My Gizmo is usually a squirmer and he is scared of even his own shadow. For them to do a stellar job in 2 hours that was some good grooming skills. The price was $45 but I had a $10 coupon! This included: bath, cut, nails trimmed and filed, anal glands squeezed and you can tooth brushing service for an Additional $11.00 Upon paying I was charged an additional $3.00 for a holiday fee. I stated that this was not advised upon dropping off my pet. Manager kindly removed the up-charge because even the cashier had no clue that there was an additional charge for holidays. I am a small recommendation for all their staff to be on the same page so that the fees and charges are advised to clients prior to service. My Gizmo looks cute. I am happy with his haircut.. I have another dog named Jazz that is scared of loud noises... thunder and especially fireworks. Annually we are prepared for the poor thing to cry for hours and go bazerk! ‍. He has even had some accidents due to his fear and anxiety. Mind you this is a professionally trained dogs. Accidents DONT HAPPEN! I spoke to a sales rep and told them my dilemma and I was recommended to purchase Doggie Safe Marijuana. . It's all natural Hemp Product. Kind of like CBD for dogs. It is supposed to keep Jazz in a calmer, relaxed state and not in a frantic panic like he normally gets on this day.. 4th of July... Well let me tell you this! I paid $20 for 60 dog chews! My Jazz didn't want to eat the snack! He is a Posh Pooch! I had to trick him and stuff the treat into a wedge of Aged Cheddar... . He ate the EDIBLE lol and within 20 minutes seemed relaxed and High as. Kite. . I do not recognize this dog! It has been thundering frequently and he is calm and mellow. No whining, no whimpering, no pacing and barking. We haven't heard a peep from him and he is behaving like his normal mellow and laid back self. They did a great job with the bath and brush out for my dog....... I specifically asked for "face, feet, fanny" which is what they called it at other places I've gone too. The lady seemed to not quiet understand so I specified (trim the face, feet, and private area) at pick up I had to ask them to trim the face down because they did not do that at all nor did they trim anything else I requested (But I only had them to trim the face) it appears the only thing they used the shears on was a quick messy cut along the inner hind legs. About several years ago we took our golden-doodle of medium size to this place. The groomer that was working on our dog couldn't manage to do her job and totally butchered the cut, but decided to blame our dog. He was about 2 years old then. They reported to us that our puppy was not cooperating and they referred him to another place. It is important to notice that we took our puppy since he was about 6 months old to get adjusted to grooming and other places were able to groom him successfully. Now, 3 or more years later, we decided to bring him over to this location again because we couldn't book it anywhere else. They went over their notes and raised the issue again. We told them that that our dog was much younger and it was long time ago. They booked the appointment. However, they called me in couple of days and canceled it because of their notes. I couldn't convince her that their argument did not make any sense. I tried to tell her that they need to look closer at the quality of their groomers, and not label a dog with bad behavior and ban him for good. Everyone knows the good nature of golden-doodles. To ban a calm and friendly dog because of some incapable groomer's notes is just unprofessional. read more

My dog was barking from the moment we walked in. they were very unpleasant and not friendly at all. everyone looks like they hate their jobs! this was his second hair cut being that he is only five months old. when I picked my dog up they gave me an awful report on "his behavior" and said "he lost a tooth." my dog was quiet and looking sad. I asked her to keep him fluffy, with less hair in his face. when I picked him up there was no hair anywhere but his face. on the ride home he just looked sad and was silent. when the car stopped he vomitted. I called and asked was he fed anything, it was then that she informed me that my PUPPY (5 months old) was anxious the entire haircut. this was nothing like his first haircut. Dakota S was so sweet and caring for my dog she did the best she could do with my po being so stressed (he had the nervous poos) she was patience and very focus on relaxing him with positive vibes. This Petsmart gives me nothing but problems. Numerous occasions I have issues with their cashiers and management. My cat is on prescription food. They require you to get your prescription renewed with your vet constantly even though my cat is on this food for life because she has allergies and it's an allergy food. I am all the way out of cat food literally just fed my cat the last little bit when I went to work today, and I plan to go get more when I got off. I have the printed and signed prescription from my vet, but they said it wasn't valid I had to go to the Banfield in the back of the store and have them validate my prescription and change it out for another card that has their name on it. Banfield close at six and I got there at 6:30. The girl said she had to get the manager because she couldn't sell me the food. When her manager came out, a girl with black hair and super tacky eyeliner, told me that she couldn't except the doctors prescription I had to come back sometime when I was off work, which is very rare, between the hours that Banfield is open and get that card switched before I can get food. I said I literally have no food at home I fed my cat the rest of it today because I knew I needed to get my way over here to Petsmart when I was off work, and she said yeah I'm sorry I can't do anything about that you're literally going to let my cat starve what a hateful nasty person. I had a prescription from my doctor!!!! This woman told me that she wouldn't let me feed my cat even though I had the doctors prescription because it wasn't validated by Banfield? Then she said she can't groom her. My dog has no problem at the vet or other grooming places. Definitely not going back here for grooming services It's pretty obvious that you don't get on the floor with a dog you don't know or try to rush the dog into being comfortable. This is the closest pet store to my house so I come here often to buy Royal Canin food for my Yorkshire Terrier. I love that there is a huge selection of just about anything I need for my dog from toys, dental care, grooming materials, and apparel. I love that they have a rewards program. The coupons come in handy because my dog's food is far from cheap. The store could use a bit of tidying up but when you have animals and even more messy humans walking around, I can see how they can sometimes get behind with their clean up in here. My experiences here have been good to date. The employees are more than helpful and if the line looks like it is getting long, they will open another and another until the customer base dwindles down. A couple of months ago, another customer let me go ahead of her and used a scan app on her phone to get me a better price. The cashier was patient and kind. She didn't rush either of us as we compared prices and the customer also helped me to locate it in the app store (there were no other customers behind us). The competitive pricing, the rewards program, and the coupons I occasionally get make the cost hard to beat locally. Their shelves are always fully stocked and the animals they sell and adopt out appear to be well-cared for. I would love to see the YEOW brand cat toys and catnip so I don't have to drive across town to get my cats their favorite entertainment and kitty bud. :P The one thing that I always notice is the lighting. For some reason, it seems to have a dim atmosphere. Maybe it is the layout. I can't quite put my finger on it, but whatever it is, tends to make it feel less airy and clean than it is. read more

This Petsmart is located across the way from Walmart and is next to the Home Depot. That's what I love about North Military Hwy, you get to do all your shopping with just a hop, skip and a jump from one location to the next. If you have shopped at a Petsmart before, then you will know what to expect when entering this store. They are exactly what you would expect. As much as I like the organization and feel of walking into this giant pet store, they are expensive compared to some of the other places around here. They have a great selection of fish, birds, and reptiles. They have all the name brand foods/snacks and toys for dogs cats and all your other furry/non furry lifetime companions. What makes them better than some of the cheaper competitors is that they have a great variety of items that you can choose from. I particularly like their choice of gates to block off areas for my doggie. I particularly like the dark wood stand alone gate they have which doesn't require that I drill holes in my wall. It's not the best for big dogs, but will serve the purpose of keeping a puppy in the kitchen/bathroom/other room. It is expensive, but you won't find it sold elsewhere. They also have a great selection of pet books that not even Care a Lots can compare to. Yes, you can bring your furry friends into the store. read more
