I've had quite a few problems with groomers at several different Petsmart locations .The Petsmart in Broomall, PA is a disaster. Occasionally I have my dogs groomed there, knowing they cancel without contacting me, and miss hair matts behind my dogs'ears and underneath but I was desperate. Today was the worst . I had a 5 pm appt to discover the groomer did not show and sorry but someone was supposed to call you. Ok.. I can deal with that. What could I say! But then she said oh, I think you made the appt for tomorrow at 5. Nope. I .did .not. I said I couldn't have. So I left. In the car I looked at the my screen shot I took when scheduling and discovered they changed the appt without my knowledge leading me to believe I'm going insane. I have taken all my dogs for years to the Newtown PA grooming salon. They were always so kind and caring with my pets. But the grooming manager (Lara) and groomer (Heather) and store manager (Rich) went above and beyond when my tiny 16 yo dog had an episode while being bathed. They immediately rushed him to CARES and contacted me to meet them there. My old dog was failing in health and unfortunately it was time to say goodbye. Lara stayed with me and comforted me until it was time to go back for my final hugs and goodbyes. What was truly amazing was that Pet Smart covered the whole bill with CARES. I was speechless. They always showed that they truly cared about our pets but this was a step above. Wow! Oh, and they even purchased a memento of my dog from CARES which was later shipped to me. Amazing. read more

Absolute the worse place of all. Especially Cindy the groomer. Always with attitude, rude and very unprofessional. Every time we bring our dog she comes up with 100 different excuses not to take the dog. Every time we come in she asks for paperwork stating that it's not in the computer. Almost always they call you the day before to cancel an appointment for some stupid reasons. I don't even know why she still there honestly. Great location but absolutely the worse customer service. Been coming to this store in Newtown for 8 years. My dog gets groomed here every month and I buy supplies here for all my pets, spending here on average 200$ each month. Always a good experience until today when I ran into their manager Dylan, who I've never seen there before. Each month, when I drop off my dog for his monthly grooming, I pick up a few things and pay for everything prior to leaving the store. That way when I come back to pick him up, I can be in and out quickly to avoid causing extra anxiety to my dog. Today, as I dropped off my dog and went to pay, Dylan came up to me and said that, not only I can't pay yet, I can't even be in the store. It was 9:50 am, store doors were open, lights were on and people were walking around the store. For some reason, Dylan decided to discriminate against me. Why keep the door open if store is closed??? Doesn't make any sense. But even if that was the case, if he was professional, he should have approached me differently. It was extremely rude and embarrassing that he picked on me of all people and was so rude to me in front of everyone. What kind of customer service is that??? Especially on a rainy Sunday morning. Corporate will definitely be notified and hopefully the general manager, Rich, will address this quickly. read more

I went to petsmart in Newtown and the lady in the Fish department would not leave us alone . She kept insisting that we buy a aquarium for my fish which clearly I didn't want. I wanted a fish bowl and a goldfish but instead walked out with no bowl or goldfish. I kept explaining that my beta fish is in a bowl and very happy . She has very poor customer service skills and clearly was taught nothing!!!! Worst experience I've ever had . No one should go here !!! I personally won't ever shop here at this location ever again after this experience. My god, make sure your dog isn't late on the 6-8 week grooming window or you will be accosted in front of patrons and every groomer and made to feel like you don't love or care about your dog. Some people really need better people skills! Just an awful feeling. I will never be back and I would advise to take your dog elsewhere unless you can make sure your dog is in tip top shape and can make an appointment every 6 weeks regardless of what may have been going on in life that prevented you from doing so this time. I actually have been going here for about 5 years now and until then they were actually pretty good. Victoria was extremely helpful and did not try to up sell us on anything! We came home from vacation to find that our cat was covered in these flakes all over and we thought we should have her groomed. It's our first time owning a cat and when we arrived Victoria informed us that the best thing for cats is to not bathe them. The flakes are dry skin and we actually need to get a humidifier! We humans have been feeling the effects of the winter dryness as well. She was very good about asking the specific things we wanted to address and recommended a much less costly option that included everything we needed! $25 for a touch up that included trimming her in back, clipping her nails and combing her tangles all out. Everyone was so nice and fussed over our cat and said how good she was. We got to stay and watch the whole thing which was very quick, and she had us wait until the end to pay just to make sure everything went as planned. Victoria also offered some tips that were much appreciated by these cat owner newbies. We will be back! PS We also saw a few dogs being groomed and they were treated very well and loved on. Their cuts looked great. The groomers sanitize all their tools after every use and they were all very friendly. read more

Very disappointed in their grooming services and the manager, Heather. We've been taking our very well loved rescue pup to petsmart grooming for 3 years. We had a wonderful petsmart groomer in Texas who took such amazing care of him. On more than one occasion we would drop him off before work and pick him up when he was done. (Many times, Kristina, his groomer wasn't there yet but the other girls would put him back in a crate). This has never been an issue. Especially with how many family's have 2 working parents. I called Friday and requested an apt. They were booked through the weekend. I called every day to see if someone had cancelled. I asked to be added onto a cancellation list and I was told that they would call if one became open. On Sunday my husband called and was told we just missed the one cancellation they had. Beyond annoyed-but we let it go. Today was the straw that broke the camels back. I called 3 hours before his apt today to see if I could drop him off 2 hours prior and was told-no, that wasn't their practice because it "wasn't in the best interest of the dog". That's interesting because every other petsmart grooming salon we've been too has never had an issue with this. Sadly this isn't the first concern I've had with them. During our last grooming apt, one of their groomers nicked our dog and didn't think to mention it to us. I'm pretty fed up. I understand dogs can get anxious and move a lot during grooming apts so I really gave them the benefit of the doubt. But after this experience and how little they are willing to accommodate, I don't feel comfortable ever leaving our dog in their care again. Such a shame. read more

Grooming mgr called me today, the day before the grooming and told me they couldn't take her because of her age. I waited 2 weeks for an appt and they tell me the day before that they can't groom her because of her age. Said they didn't think she could stand the 3.5 hrs it takes to groom. So, now I have to find another salon that will groom my dog simply because she's old. I'm sure they could've worked something out. But like any profitable business, they gotta get em in and get em out as fast as possible. read more

Have an older husky with a ton of fur and arthritic Chelsea T took care of her. The puppy cut turned out great she was very patient it took about 3 1/2 hours on top of that she has a great personality. You can tell she is a dog lover I would recommend her for any bodies dog. This is a large, bright and clean store that has great stock of all items for pets. When bringing your dog by, there are clean up bags at the end of the aisles for accidents. They have a wide array of items for every budget. When I came here to peruse the sealife, one of the staff members, Jeremy, was great at helping with advice on fish tank set up. He told me about the general condition of the water of the neighborhood (it's unfortunate that not many places are like NYC, where you can just run tap water and it is fish-pH-ready). read more

I am so impressed with Heather the groomer. We have a Wheaten Terrier who is a little tricky to groom (he is also quite scared of the process!). She takes the time to give us progress reports, suggestions and genuinely cares about our pup. Every time we bring him, he gets better and better with the process. I stopped in for dog food recently. I shop at Petsmart because of the brands they carry. Well the shelves needed restocking and all I keep hearing from the staff was "we just did inventory and our supply truck is not unloaded yet. Come back in a few days." What. I usually go to Quakertown - not Newtown. What a waste of time. All those people/kids wandering around with nothing to do. Nobody was stocking shelves. This is why people order online - because the brick and mortar stores don't stock their shelves. I go there for dog food - they should have dog food. Plain and simple. I love the girl in the fish department. She's obviously an animal lover and knows her facts about fish keeping. She's honest, but very polite and will always advise you what's best for your fish. I'd rather have someone not sell a pet than sell someone one which won't be taken care of properly. You go girl! And for PetSmart, you should hire more people like her! I always have to go find someone to help me with getting fish or crickets. It seems like there are enough employees working there, but they emerge from a back room when I ask the cashier for help. They are nice when they do help you. I've stop going there because I know it will take so much work to find someone and it won't just be an in and out. read more

Grooming - Heather is fantastic! Before she begins she makes sure to know what you want. She makes great suggestions. Such as giving my Maggie May "sweet eyes". She is loving & caring to my dogs. Heather takes the time to make sure her clients look great & are comfortable. Upon pickup she will go over their appointment and helps me with suggestions (but not pushy or condescending) to keep my dogs healthy & happy. Since I have two dogs they have also been groomed by other groomers there. They have been good too. read more

It is a hard one to review. Here is The skinny. Every Petsmart Is a big retailer. The staff is hit or miss. Meaning. Don't go to Petsmart looking for solid advice as the answers are different. Mostly I found petsmart to be cashiers. Pricing is often High so I go online or to a boutique and pay a tad more But get great advice for the animals at my Ark. Sorry for Generalizing as I know many employees to care and love pets. Overall training. Helping shelters with their partnerships Means more to me so I thank all of you. This PetSmart is smaller than the one near Oxford Valley, but the employees are always so helpful. They have, on many occasions, wandered the store with me to help me find exactly what I need, and if they didn't have it, they located it for me at a different store. I also can't say enough good things about the cat rescue place that is there - Save the Cats. They are professional, kind and very thorough, unlike some other animal rescue places I've encountered. He mentioned not to put a lot of calcium in with the crickets. 2 wks later, My husband went else where to get crickets. Do NOT recommend... ESPECIALLY if buying a fish! Let me tell my story.... This past Friday my cousin and I went in to buy my little brother two (14 cents) goldfish for Christmas. The girl right away not only gave us major attitude but also judged us for the way we looked/were dressed....RUDE!!! (we didn't look bad at all so I don't understand her issue but anyways..) Mind you we were nothing but polite to this girl from the second we walked in there. She refused to let us buy the fish unless we bought a 10 gallon tank for them.... In other words this girl wanted me to buy AN $80 TANK FOR TWO 14 CENTS GOLDFISH. I don't know what drugs she was on but that was not happening. She brought out another girl who proceeded to argue with me (and mind you they were completely contradicting themselves) for 10-15 minutes and went on to tell me (and I quote) "You know that is real mean to buy your brother a gift that is just going to die. You must be a bad sister." EXCUSE ME BUT ALL I WANT IS A F****** GOLDFISH YOU DON'T KNOW ME YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO TELL ME I'M A BAD SISTER. This issue got to the point where I had to call my older brother and he had to STOP WHAT HE WAS DOING to come all the way to the store to get the fish. This ten minute purchase turned into a 40 MINUTE ORDEAL all because she just did not like my cousin and I and did not want to sell us the fish. Overall DO NOT go to the PetSmart in Newtown (especially if you are buying fish) because they will judge you, stereotype you and refuse to let you make your purchase (especially if you're a relatively good looking teen or 20 something old girl with good sense of fashion) I hope no one else has this awful experience with these two judgmental bitches. read more
