I have a large Alaskan Malamute. This is not the first time that I brought my dog to PetsMart on Manhattan Blvd to be groomed; but, it is certainly the last! When I dropped her off this time, I asked about the little table that I saw a small dog on getting groomed. They called me an hour later saying they could not groom my dog because she would not get on the little table. "Even the dog knew she could not fit on that table"!!! When I picked her up, the groomer (Angela) said absolutely nothing to me. She took the dog off of the leash and pushed her towards me. I found that very unprofessional and I am currently searching for another groomer. read more

Love this PetSmart location and so does Priscilla. They have a great dog food selection at competitive prices. Priscilla loves to pick out a toy/treat every time we go. The staff is always super friendly to me and Priscilla and last time she went we met everyone in line and had a great time splooting and tail wagging in the checkout. I have a Shih Tzu that I made a grooming appointment at the PetsMart on Claiborne Ave. I arrived and was told that they would not groom him because he had a heart murmur and could not be put on his back. Nobody called me to tell me that this was an issue and no message was left. This is unacceptable! At least have the courtesy to call and leave a message. just a heads up for anyone else in this position - avoid PetsMart groomers. on Claiborne because they are unreliable. read more

I have been bringing my dog, Sir Dogman (Yorkshire Terrier) to PetSmart grooming for several years and he has seen Tia N. for the last couple of years. While I was always happy with the services, since Dogman started seeing Ms. Tia, his cut is perfect every time and she always remembers him. It's clear she really cares about the animals she works with and that definitely makes me want to return. read more

Do not go to this location! They are very GHETTO and unprofessional, Tia is supposed to be the"Lead" of the grooming department and refused to service my dog because I was 10mins late and had the nerve to have a nasty attitude then when my husband called to find out why she cancelled she lied to him and told him I was 20 mins late and they have the right to refuse service if we're late . GO TO PETCO!! read more

This store has some of the worst costumer service in the country. 95% of employees at the fish department do not know what they are talking about. They recommend putting koi and Red Devils together. They also said that putting a betta in anything bigger than a 2.5 gallon tank would stress them to death. I would never put a betta in anything smaller than a gallon. Most of their fish were dead, and the employees just left the rotting fish in the tank. I would not buy their fish at any cost. Their bettas are the worst though. They let them sit in those tiny little cups with dirty water. I would never buy their fish again. Buy your bettas from Petco!!! read more

Alll the first died the same day we got them and then some of the worker had an attitude.

Was super excited that this was coming to my hood. I find them less expensive than Petco. However, their grooming is way more. I gave it a chance because I had a coupon. I couldn't get any special shampoo as it would have made my total over 50 dollars. At Petco I can get a special shampoo with my wash for 30. My dog can go a month in between washes. One week has past and she stinks! I noticed it the other day. Also, I submitted for training and a gentleman left me a message that I can't understand! I won't go back. I know it's a small neighborhood store but they could carry more dog treats and less toys... Update I'm not sure when this changed but I take my dog here bimonthly now and I have no issues Also, Pilar is the trainer and she was great. read more

Whoa! This PetSmart is really huge and way bigger than the one on the Westbank. My cat has been having stomach issues, so I stopped in here to talk to a pro about maybe switching up her food. He pointed me in the direction of some "nature based" food that is more plants than meat because apparently meat can irritate older cats stomachs. It's a whole thing! While I didn't purchase the food, the guy I talked to was quite knowledgeable and he definitely knew what he was talking about. This store has a great selection of toys, food and all the other good pet stuff you could want. They have cats up for adoption in the front, and in the back they have fish, reptiles and small furry creatures. There was one bearded dragon who kept eye contact with me the entire time and I think he wanted me to take him home. Fun fact: I used to have a pet iguana and I would love to have a bearded dragon, but today was not the day. Anyway, I love the new and nice store. I am thankful for the helpful staff and cat food education. read more

I previously only gave this place 2 stars and declared my allegiance to Petco but recent visits to both stores has caused me to make a 180. For one thing Petco is further away but I've always liked going there and have always found what I need for my dogs. PetSmart is literally just around the corner and while they don't carry the food I like to feed my dogs, they do carry all the other stuff I need. Two big things that Petco did that I didn't appreciate were: (1) they suddenly stopped carrying the food I was feeling my dogs and (2) they suddenly stopped carrying the treats I like to get for my dogs. That's pretty much all I go in there for so I don't really have a reason to go back any time soon. Another iffy thing about Petco is that their prices for dog toys are higher overall than PetSmart. I have two big greyhounds that like to destroy toys, so although I sometimes splurge on a fancy toy, I also like to pick around the bargain bin. Petco's bargain bin is really affordable but total rubbish compared to PetSmart where there have a much wider selection of $3 - $14+ toys that are reasonably discounted from their original prices. PetSmart does carry the treats (Milk-bone marrow snacks) Petco discontinued and they were even on sale! ($1 off). I also picked up a new pair of dog nail clippers and a fuzzy bull frog squeaky toy for reasonable prices. I didn't plan on becoming a PetSmart regular but I like the location better than Petco and I think it is a better store overall. read more

This is a new location of the national pet store chain. Product: Pet food, accessories, medicines, and grooming services. They have a lot of junk I have zero use for (my dog destroys weak toys), and not a whole lot of what I actually *do* need. The prices aren't competitive at all, and the restricted food diet my dog requires is not well represented in this store (he is allergic to fowl--chicken, duck, etc). 1 star Service: Cashiers and floor workers. Average employees, but not terribly useful. 2 stars Facilities: A nice, brand new location in a brick and mortar strip mall, it is conveniently located right off South Claiborne. There is amble parking for motor vehicles, but no bike racks that I noticed. The area is clean in and out. Signage is highly visible. 4 stars Overall: I really wanted to like this place when it opened, so I had options in particular for dog food, but this just doesn't fit the bill. PetCo on Tchoup is a much better store with greater selection, better prices, and much more helpful staff. 2 stars read more

I booked an appointment to have my Corgi /Australian Shepherd 1 yr old pup groomed with Dani and when I tell you she understood my vision, she understood it! I loved that she took a minute to talk to me about what I wanted for my dog to look like. My pup named peaches came back so happy! She was well groomed and full of smiles. That's all I could asked of asked for. It took about two hours for the furminator bath and haircut package with an add on for teeth brushing and nail trimming. I loved that she took her time and really got all of her fur clean and trimmed down. read more

I spent $92 for the grooming of 2 little (both under 20 lbs) dogs and unfortunately, they still smell like dogs. I'm giving 3 stars because they do have great hair cuts. I have a smooth Jack Russell & a coarse yorkie mix. With the yorkie mix, if you cut her incorrectly, she'll look like a suede shoe....but PetSmart made her look like the handsome pup that she is. read more

Worst pet store experience ever. There was only 1 employee who appeared to be working who didn't bother to say hello or ask if we needed help. I had to stand at the register for a while and wait for the only cashier to come out. Still no word spoken so I showed her what I was looking for. She called someone on her microphone and still said nothing to me. Then after waiting a while I walked to the back and my friend had to ask another associate if she was the one helping us to which she replied I thought someone else was. There was a guy down working in that area now and he said he would help us. Once he was available he checked the back then the front and told me it must not have come in. I explained I was looking for something that was purchase in store only and it was the only store online not showing out. He told me online isn't always up to date. Overall the experience was horrible. I will never use that store again. read more

There is really nothing wrong with the store-- it's always clean and in stock. However, the employees here are even worse than walmart employees. You are lucky if you are greeted in the store at all. Any time I've asked a question, I felt like I've had even more knowledge than the employees. And they are constantly on their phones!! Right in front of the customers! During one visit, I was checking out and an employee had his phone playing a movie, sitting on top of the register the whole time. Today, I had barely even grabbed my bag and receipt when one employee ran up to the lady who rang me up in order to show her a dinosaur video. The ONLY reason I go to this store is its location convenience. If you have the time to head up the road to Petco, I highly recommend doing so. read more

Has everything you'd expect from a chain pet supplier. Like most retailers in New Orleans, the service is hit or miss. I've had floor staff who are friendly and super helpful and I've cashiers who can barely muster anything beyond hello. My most recent experience: I wanted to buy a 14 lb bag of "mature" dog food. They only had the smaller 2.5 lb bags. Pro tip: they'll sell you the smaller bags for the price per pound of the large bag if you ask. My cashier literally did not know how to do this. I don't mean the mechanics of typing in the right code into the register. I mean: the math. A 14 lb bag of food costs $35. $35/14 lb = $2.5 per pound. Thus a 2.5 lb bag costs $6.25 ($2.5 x 2.5 lb). She was clearly so annoyed that I was even asking her to go out of usual routine. Maybe I'm expecting too much by thinking my cashier should know how to solve basic math problems? I figure if you're in charge of handling money, you should also know how to do math. The store manager however was very helpful and took care of my request, with a smile to boot! I prefer shopping at the Pet Smart on Tchoup but this store location is more convenient. I'm not sure it was worth the hassle of waiting at the register with an unpleasant cashier to have the manager assist. I think I'll start ordering my dog food from Amazon. read more

I stopped in for the grand opening to get some treats for my cat that were on sale. It's a nice location for a Petsmart. They have a good variety of products for dogs, cats, birds, fish and other little critters. - The typical selection you would find/expect at any Petsmart location. The cashier was sweet and helpful. I got what I needed and headed out. The parking lot doesn't seem like it will be adequate for the volume of cars that you would expect from all of the big name stores that are opening here. I've had a couple decent experiences here. I've started a fresh water fish tank (10 gallons) and was looking for some good starter fish. The employee who helped me on my first trip gave me a full rundown on how to take care of the tank and what accessories she recommended (heater, light, etc...). And she recommended a couple starter fish that were cheap and durable. Alas, after a few weeks both fish had died. My ammonia levels were too high. So I did some research and changed a few things and came back recently for a plant and 3 new starter fish. It took a few minutes to get someone to help get fish (in fact, my SO had to go find someone). But the employee who ended up helping us out was very friendly and enthusiastic. This store pretty much has everything I seem to need; I just need to do a better job of taking care of my tank. read more

Horrible service. Refused to groom my dog for his scheduled appointment because he has heart worms. This is the first location that has refused to clean our dog. He's been groomed several times at PetSmart locations along the gulf coast. Our best visit was in Jackson, MS. where they loved him so much they wanted to keep him. Following that visit, we prepaid for 12 grooming services. We were told that as long as he wasn't undergoing treatment for the heart worms that he could be groomed but this location refused. The explanation was trash and the customer service was terrible. The Karens at the desk made us feel like our dog would die if they touched him. We completed the pre-check and brought in all his records as requested. Before we got to present them they refused service. No written policy was provided to support the BS they stated. We will not be visiting this location again. This review is for the check-in desk for grooming service. No offense to the groomers, we never got to experience that part. read more

Update: around 6-19 (just when stores were re-opening after Covid lockdown) I took my dog for a cut and despite me requesting the usual for my dog, they shaved him to the skin. What's worse, it did not grow back. My dog was "naked" (and covered in liver spots and lumps) for a good year. After 1 yr his fur finally grew in. I don't know if it was a new person in the store or what happened--as I stated in my previous review I had bringing my dog here for years with good results--but I have not gone back. read more

This place has everything. We get my old-as-ballz cat's prescription food here. Because we live in the city-of-never-gets-cold-enough-to-kill-the-fleas, I'm always dropping a crap-ton of money on whatever pill will stop them from scratching this week. Buying shampoo for the baths I never actually give them so I can have something to throw away when I clean out my cabinets four years later. The urine destroyer is necessary always. Because old. The store is great and I'm glad to have it in my neighborhood; close and convenient. But... the grooming salon is less than desirable. I have multiple dogs and I'm looking for a groomer who cares about the quality they put out and the dogs they groom. The groomers at times can be unprofessional and just pushing dogs out. If not for Racheal and the convenience I would probably not patronize the grooming salon. It's a costly expensive not to have the quality of service your money is paying for. I give the grooming department five stars for sure. My dog had an absolute panic attack in there and the sweet ladies working were so awesome about it!
