We're usually quite picky when it comes to husky grooming, only because we've read horror stories in online forums and the like! i found doggie delight from a Yelp search and used the request a quote / message the business feature and they were SO quick at responding and answered any questions i had. communication was super straightforward and they were incredibly responsive, especially considering i messaged them close to the end of their operating hours. the day of the groom was also really simple and straightforward! i was given a rough estimate on when our pup would be ready, but the person at the business also told me they'd text me when she's done. i think they did a great job with my pup and she didn't even seem to be too scared to be there either! unfortunately, i forgot to take pics when she was fresh out of the groomers, but they definitely did a great job and didn't do anything i was worried about! we'll be booking here again next year for our husky's annual professional groom! (don't worry, we brush and clean her at home too lol)

I'll only go to PetSmart for their deals 'cause otherwise, I don't find their staff all that knowledgeable when it comes to specific things like which litter/pet food is better, etc. Anyway, this Pet Valu recently opened up within the last month or two in the Mavis/Dundas area. So I decided to check it out as opposed to my usual store, Global, for kitty litter. Interior is nice 'n warm as with most Pet Valus. Short-haired lady was very helpful in terms of the different types of litters, pros/cons for each, etc. You can tell that she's an actual pet owner...as opposed to a student with a random job and no particular interest in animals. If you've only shopped at PetSmart, you will be absolutely amazed with the amount of time staff at the more independent places spend on a customer. Tip: If you're coming from the South, turn as soon as you see the Home Depot sign! I almost missed the entrance.

Let me start off by saying I have been going here for over 16 years, even before Barbra was the owner and the place was run by Anna, hence the name Annas pet grooming. Anna sold her business to Barbra after 5 years of me going to this place and Barbra kept the stores name. Unfortunately my little dog who both Anna and Barbra groomed passed away and I had never heard from Barbra again, until i got a new little pup 8 years later! The first time I walk in to her shop after 8 years she instantly recognizes me and remembers my dog who had passed. That shows how much she cares about her customers! Anyways now on to the review.. She has excellent technique and can trim, cut and style your dog any way you like! She gave me at home grooming advice and tips to make mine and my pets life easier. I also take my very anxious dog here to get her nails trimmed every few months because the only person she trusts to do it is Barbra! I have nothing but good words to say about her! When my groomer transferred here, I decided to give them another chance --BIG MISTAKE! This time, I brought in my Alaskan Husky, and my regular groomer was not there. When I picked her up, she was hobbling and when I confronted the owner, he had the audacity to ask, "Wasn't she like this when you brought her in?" What kind of professional even suggests that a pet owner would bring in an injured animal? Then he had the nerve to tell me, *"We couldn't finish the job, but you still owe me."* I was furious. I threw the money at him and stormed out. When I got home, I discovered her ears were bright red and nearly bleeding. Fast forward two days and $883 in vet bills later: my dog has been diagnosed with a severely strained right paw and is now so traumatized she won't let anyone touch her paws. This place is a nightmare. They are unprofessional, careless, and clearly have no regard for the well-being of the animals in their care. Avoid this place at all costs if you care about your pets!

Brenda is super friendly and professional. I brought a English Massive and Golden Retriever. Both were treated perfectly and warmly. My dogs love her! And the last few places I tried they were not happy. Here they love going and are so excited to see her. I couldn't ask for a better groomer. She washes them with great care, using one shampoo on the body and another on their face. Blow dries them well and the hair cuts are on point. I highly recommend coming here for some puppy TLC, they will be super happy and so will you.

I went there to get my Yorkie groomed a few days ago. The front desk area wasn't the cleanest. I…read morementioned I'd like a short Yorkie cut without him looking like a rat. I was informed it would be about an hour to an hour and a half. Brenda said she would call when she was done. After an hour and a half, I called and a co-op student answered the phone. When following up on Ramses she informed me it would be another 45 mins as they were swamped. When I showed up I noticed my dogs cut was extremely short and he was screaming to high heavens. As I was waiting to pay there was a poodle hanging around. Blaming him for agitating my dog, Brenda proceeded to grab a chunk of its neck and yank him towards the back! Since I was already running 45mins late I paid and left quickly. It was $55 plus tax and I added a 15% tip. When I got home I looked Ramses over and was horrifed. It looked like a super quickie job with a trimmer and then again chopped all over with a scissors. The cut is so short in places you can see his bare skin. He can't stop squinting his eyes as all his hair around them has been shaved off. Some parts are longer than others and it looks like he was nipped in a few places too. I dread to think what else he was put through this, no wonder he was screaming when I got there. I would normally give someone a second chance but judging from the other more positive reviews, it seems like they just tried to take as many appointments as they could, knew it was a really bad job and hoped I wouldn't notice. Very very disappointed, angry and sad my little 4lbs pup had to go through go this.

The trainers were knowledgeable, interested, and gave us some really personalized tips and tricks for how to deal with the most stubborn dog I know! We are planning on continuing with their obedience training in Port Credit - in just 4 weeks of puppy foundations, we really noticed a difference in his behaviour. In addition to training, our dog LOVES daycare here at the Port Credit location. The staff say that he never lies down, and is just in seventh heaven the entire time. He comes home EXHAUSTED every time (full days and half days). I like that the staff is involved with the play time as well - they get in there and really get to know all of the dogs. I also trust that they will keep my dog safe and supervise all activities. They know all of the dogs well, and really understand how to handle all of their personalities. Only slight downsides: No play sessions during the summer! Closed on Sundays (everyone deserves a day off) Price - The price of daycare is pretty much on par with most of the other places in the area (so, not cheap), but I did pay $30 for just a bath.. not sure I'll do that again. They do a really good job with grooming though; actually listened to what we wanted. Sometimes the web cams aren't working, and all I want to do is pretend to be doing work while I watch our guy scamper around! I hired Maggie two weeks ago to groom my Persian mix kitties and to say it was a bad experience…read morewould be an understatement. She showed up an hour and half late with no hair dryer and a dirty trimmer, full of hair from her last appointment, which she only gave a quick superficial clean that consisted of brushing the hair out and spraying it down with disinfectant for 10 seconds before she started to use them on my cat. My older cat was nicked a total of 6 times including two bad ones that nearly lobbed off a nipple and on her ear (?!?), while my younger one had the most patchy cut, bald in some spots and long tufts of hair in others. I understand that cats are difficult to groom and all about their thin skins but I have been having my cats groomed for 13 yrs and the sum of all the injuries they have incurred that period of time is two (one each). 6 nicks on one cat in a single session is just far too many and a result of carelessness or inexperience. The worst part is Maggie either didn't know or didn't disclose on purpose, that my cat had been hurt so many times. I only noticed the nick on her nipple when Maggie was here (because my cat was hiding and wouldn't allow me to look her over properly till much later) and when I brought it to her attention she appeared to not know about it and said if it was not bleeding then it would heal by itself. She didn't even check to see how bad it was and now in retrospect, I think it was because she didn't want me to see the rest of the nicks before she left. When I contacted her to express my disbelief and how upset I was, she first said it was because my cats were difficult which shocked me because I offered to help her several times but she assured me that my cats were quite well behaved and she could handle them. Then, she blamed her tools saying her blade must have been dull at the end of a long day of grooming (no kidding!). In hindsight, there were so many red signals that I shouldn't have ignored, however, I decided to cut her some slack since it was my first time with her and my appointment was her last one of the day. I thought I was entrusting my cats to an experienced groomer based on the glowing google and yelp reviews and that having them groomed at home would be less stressful for my cats but it turned out to be an experience I absolutely regret. Ps. I'm not just another lazy, entitled pet owner, I comb them every other day and neither of my cats had big knots/matts or were pelted but they dislike being combed especially, around their hind legs and tails so despite my best efforts after a while, professional intervention is required.

It has a more "home" feel than if you would go to Petsmart which feels like a huge corporate just trying to get your money. The staff have always been super helpful and friendly. You can tell they really love their jobs and working with pets! I booked my first grooming appointment with my dog (Chow Chow) yesterday and it couldn't have gone better. I was scared that my dog would give them a hard time because PetSmart will no longer groom him because of his "behaviour". So right before my appointment at PetValu, I gave the groomer a heads up that my dog might growl/bark because that's what I was told from PetSmart. I bought a bag of treats for her to give him throughout the grooming appointment to calm him down just in case. When I came to pick him up 3 hours later, she had nothing but good things to say! He didn't bark or growl at all, and didn't need to be muzzled. She only gave him treats at the end because he was well behaved throughout the whole appointment. I guess all his previous bad behaviour just came because he didn't have a gentle groomer? Either way, I have found my new groomer at PetValu!! (The price is much more affordable too!). Definitely recommend coming to this store. They also host a lot of events throughout the year, and have kittens/cats up for adoption.
