The owners and staff were so caring and professional, going way beyond what I would expect. I moved back to High Point when Olive was 2 years old, and remained with Northwood until she passed at 14. When I lost Olive, I also lost many friends. Due to travel and health issues, I no longer have pets, but hope to (God willing) sometime in the future. I am amazed that anyone would have a negative review about Northwood. They were always up front with me about treatment, medication, etc. They fit Olive in whenever needed, and even gave us a break on certain treatments. They were fair and honest. Can't get any better than that. I wouldn't go anywhere else. These folks are the best!

Writing this review is incredibly difficult because Northwood Animal Hospital is where we took…read moreWillow for what was supposed to be a relatively routine procedure to remove a small tumor. Instead, we came home without our dog. Before the procedure, my husband specifically expressed that he did not want to leave until Willow was under anesthesia. We were told that she was asleep, so we left believing she was safely under and being cared for. Less than 15 minutes later, my husband received the call that Willow was gone. During the procedure, we were informed that Willow experienced serious breathing difficulties and that her condition rapidly deteriorated. What has made this experience even more upsetting is everything we learned afterward. Based on conversations and information provided to us, I was left with serious and deeply troubling questions about how Willow's emergency was handled, including the airway difficulties, the timing of anesthesia, and the response when her condition became critical. The more information we received, the harder it became to understand how a dog who went in for a small tumor removal never came home. As Willow's family, we trusted this hospital with her life. That trust was shattered. One interaction that particularly stayed with us was being asked multiple times whether we planned to sue. In the middle of grieving and trying to understand what had happened to Willow, that question felt deeply upsetting and inappropriate to us. Rather than helping answer the questions we had about our dog's death, we were left feeling even more uncomfortable and unsettled by the conversation. I am sharing my personal experience and the information that was communicated to me. I cannot speak to anyone's intentions, but I can say that I have serious concerns about the care Willow received and the way the emergency was handled. What was equally heartbreaking was the lack of compassion we felt surrounding the loss of our dog. Losing a pet unexpectedly during a procedure is traumatic enough. Feeling like you are left with unanswered questions afterward makes it even worse. I would never trust Northwood Animal Hospital with one of my animals again. Every pet owner has to make their own decision, but I strongly encourage anyone considering this hospital to ask detailed questions about surgical procedures, anesthesia, emergency protocols, and exactly how complications are handled. Willow was not just a patient or a procedure on a schedule. She was our family. My husband specifically asked not to leave until she was safely asleep. We were told she was. Less than 15 minutes later, we were told she was gone. We dropped off a dog we loved and trusted them to care for her. We came home without her. That is something we will never forget.

The store was pretty large, in my opinion and FILLED with anything you could imagine that you'd need for your pet. They have hand sanitizer available right at the entrance for COVID, along with a statement on the door that they require masks upon entering as well. The left side of the store has plenty of dog food, toys, clothing, and gifts. The right side has everything for cats such as huts (average price of $80), natural toys, leashes, food, raw diet food, treat toppers, and clothing. I'm getting more in depth with the cat side since we only have a cat and were shopping on that side only. The woman, who I assume is the owner, was EXTREMELY nice with helping us find the perfect food for our Bengal. She took her time explaining everything to us in great detail, and never once rushed us. She really made us feel like a valued customer! The amount of information she knew about the different products of food they sell blew.. our.. minds. The information she was giving us ranged from where it came from, what the benefits were, what fit our cat the most, how the brand makes their food.... everything! She knew her stuff, that's for sure! She was extremely helpful and wanted to make sure we were completely satisfied, and never once tried to pressure us into buying anything. She was very open minded and positive with how she interacted with us! The prices are very reasonable. They are fully stocked with every item they sell. They do some small discounts if you buy in bulk. It's extremely organized with how they have the layouts of their products throughout the store. You'll definitely walk out of this store with something in your hand. It looked like they were even doing a photo shoot with Santa and your pet in a closed in room as well! I'm overall VERY impressed with our whole experience. We will definitely be coming back and supporting this business. The customer service we got is half of the experience, and knowing you're getting the exact thing that your pet needs is the best feeling. They really know everything about their products.

This makes the 3rd vet we have been to for treatment of the same issue. This is the very first time where they attempted to find the root of the problem instead of just treating the symptoms. I felt listened to and respected as a pet owner, like my concerns were actually taken into consideration, and we were offered not only solutions; but explanations as to why the problem may be occurring in the first place. We never felt like we were being persuaded to purchase anything unnecessary or upsold on anything. Everyone we interacted with here, from the initial phone call to the office visit, was beyond friendly, helpful, and attentive. Our dog was the most comfortable she has been in any hospital setting! She has been through some trauma, so it's really a big statement to say that she was more calm than usual. I'm very excited to have discovered this place and I can't recommend them enough! We have 2 dachshunds who have been coming for vaccines/annual wellness visits since they were about 6 weeks old and we have always opted out on vaccinating them for LEPTO, that is the "L" in the DHLPP combo vaccine. Both dachshunds always receive the DHPP vaccine ONLY, NO LEPTO. We made this decision due to one of our dachshunds having a severe reaction to the LEPTO vaccine a few years ago and going to anaphylactic shock and almost died. I make sure to make it known every single visit that we want all vaccines EXCEPT LEPTO and have told them every time in the past to put it on their records. This past Friday, I had to work so my husband took our dachshund Ollie for her annual wellness/vaccine appointment. When the vet tech came in, she was reading off all of the vaccines that Ollie was going to be receiving, however, included lepto so my husband told her that we did not want to vaccinate her for the lepto vaccine (as usual) and told her she has never gotten it before due to our other dachshund having such a severe (almost deadly) reaction. The vet tech told my husband that she is looking at Ollie's vet records and told him she has received it every single time in the past. My husband thought maybe he had gotten it confused and agreed because he TRUSTED the workers at the vet which was obviously a mistake. He called me on the way home telling me what happened so I pulled out Ollie's vet records from the past few years and looked to confirm she hasn't been receiving the Lepto vaccine. Every single document from each appointment stated "DHPP ONLY-NO LEPTO". While looking for the records, I had my mom call them to ask what amount of Benedryl needs to be given to her to help prevent any kind of severe reaction and they said they would call her back and let her know because they had to ask the pharmacy? After about 15-20 minutes of no call, I called another vet who we will be going to from now on and they immediately told me how much Benedryl to give her. Asheboro animal hospital never called and let my mom know an answer. After locating all of Ollie's records, I immediately called and spoke to someone at the front desk and when explaining the situation I was met with a rude attitude and was cut off in the middle of my sentence by her saying "I'm looking at her records right now and she has gotten the vaccine every year. I told her I was also looking at her records right now from every appointment she's ever had and stated that every single document says "DHPP ONLY-NO LEPTO" and explained that it should've been on her file. After placing me on hold, she came back and apologized and offer to refund us the $45ish dollars we paid for the vaccine and stated she would add the alert to her file as well as our other dachshund. We accepted the refund and appreciated it, but I feel as if we absolutely cannot trust this vet any longer because this could have been a deadly situation, especially if we didn't catch it and provide Benedryl immediately! I also did not appreciate the rude attitude I was met with when calling to tell them their mistake. And to top it off they never bothered to let us know how much Benedryl to give our dog to prevent a reaction from a mistake they made! We will be switching all 6 of our pets to Seagrove Animal Hospital who provided immediate and friendly care over the phone letting me know exactly how much Benedryl to give and what symptoms to lookout for and told me that if she has any kind of reaction to just stop by with her which I greatly appreciated. BEWARE IF YOU'RE TAKING YOUR PETS HERE.
