The best behaved boy, thanks Zee!
Elizabeth T.

Kirby has been attending classes at PetSmart in Lakewood with Zee and recently graduated from the Advanced class (we took the Intermediate one with Zee as well). I can't type enough praise I have for her. She's such a talented pet trainer and is really in tune with every animal's body language and cues and will teach you to be just as in tune with your pet. She splits her time between every pet in the class perfectly, spending time on those who need extra help and giving extra work to those who's pets have got it down and can handle the extra challenge. We've been able to build on what we've learned in class at home and Kirby can now even turn off light switches and close doors on command! My only regret is not moving to Washington sooner so he could've had class with Zee for his puppy/beginner course. We just took in another dog (Sal) and immediately signed him up for Zee's next available beginner class to work on some behavioral concerns. Although we are in a group class, Zee had personalized homework for us to work on for his specific needs. Just from the first class, we've seen such an improvement in his confidence and obedience at home. The value of these group classes (I think $140 for 6 weeks of 1 hour classes) is unbeatable with such a great trainer.

- I took my dog to get groomed and got horrible service. The next day I received a message from a PetSmart employee wanting me to remove photos. Telling me there would be legal action taken against me. Her threats don't scare me, I've done nothing wrong but I thought she wasn't worth my time so I just deleted them that evening. Now today I just received a nastier message again, but she was cursing this time in her message. It the same person calling herself Friendly N. From Steilacoom. I'm not sure if it's Courtney whom worked on my dog or a different PetSmart employee from their grooming department, that is messaging me but this just shows me how unprofessional they are. I still would not ever consider taking my dog here nor would I ever recommend their dog grooming services. They gave horrible grooming services and now I'm seeing how disgusting and disrespectful their employees are.

Nail trim and grind. Bath and brush too. They work hard to schedule you with a groomer you know. They genuinely love dogs.

Pleasant enough. Prompt. Originally thought cuts looked better but really shocked within a week to see how bad the dogs looked.

We enrolled our 15-month-old Dogo Argentino in their 8-week training program after adopting him from the Humane Society. He had been struggling with anxiety, recall, tantrums, and self-regulation. After just four weeks, during our parent training session, we noticed a remarkable difference in his temperament. He was able to manage his anxiety around other dogs and outside distractions, follow commands consistently, and walk calmly on a leash beside us--no more pulling or wandering aimlessly. This program has completely transformed our relationship with our pup. He now trusts us more deeply because not only did he learn how to regulate himself, but we also learned how to help him do so. He stays in place on his mat without following us around or begging for food--it's like having a completely different dog! We're so glad we chose Amani K-9. We feel more confident and connected in our relationship with our dog because we better understand him, and he knows exactly what we expect of him.

The dog we walk now is well behaved and emotionally regulated (no more whining, barking, or pulling on the leash when he sees another dog!!). We tried other trainers before Amani K9 and some progress would be made only for our dog to regress. We love that now he's home, we can still contact her for advice and feedback. It was the best decision we made. Thank you Niquolette and Amani K9!

I'm giving this Petco location 2 stars solely because of the woman I spoke with on the phone prior…read moreto our appointment. I called ahead to ask whether Vetco Vaccination Clinic would honor services we had already purchased at a Vetco Total Care Hospital so we wouldn't be double-charged. Thankfully, they did honor it. The woman on the phone was incredibly patient, kind, and helpful - she is truly the only reason this location is getting any stars at all. Unfortunately, the actual appointment was a very different experience. My husband took our dog in, and he said the visit was unpleasant from start to finish. The nurse who administered our dog's vaccinations was rough and came across as aggressive and unkind. She slowly crept up on our dog, which felt intimidating rather than calming. After that, she made comments like "what's wrong with you," "chill," "relax," and "tantrum" when our dog was understandably uncomfortable. I may not be a professional, but creeping up on a dog doesn't seem like the best approach. She also attempted to weigh our dog and seemed confused, telling him to get on the scale even though she hadn't placed him fully on it in the first place. Overall, her demeanor felt mean and impatient, and it didn't seem like she enjoyed her job - or even liked dogs. At the end of the visit, my husband handed our dog's vaccination passport to another employee so the vaccination stickers could be added. That employee wasn't sure what to do with it or where the stickers should go. The nurse then snatched the passport out of his hands and added the stickers herself, which came off as rude and unprofessional. All in all, this was not a positive experience, and I would not recommend this Vetco location. We will not be returning for future services. Good luck to anyone who chooses to go here.

The type that traumatizes them. The whole idea of just "dropping them off" to pick up later might seem convenient yet I would never again trust leaving my animals with Banfeild. The staff communicate with each other poorly which translates to communicating poorly with you. I wont go down a list of everything that happened with each experience bringing my cats or dog here, ill just state that every single experience added up to complete and utter distrust of this place. I would like to describe each incident, though I'd be writing way too much. Ive got many experiences of poor decision making, poor communication, low respect of their customers, and NO accountability. I will never re-traumatize my pets bringing them here. Absolutely unprofessional.

As a result, she exhibited the beginnings of fear aggression, which I understand is common in German Shepherds. My vet recommended immediate puppy school and I chose Amanda because of her reputation for being upbeat and training in a positive manner. Whelp (snicker), turns out I picked the right trainer. Amanda knew how to help Sophie develop confidence and she also watched her carefully for signs of fatigue and stress during class. Sophie thrived under Amanda's training. I swear Sophie would say (in doggie language), "Pick me! Pick me!" whenever Amanda needed a volunteer pup to show the class a new trick. She LOVED puppy school. She LOVES Amanda. Amanda uses clicker training and other methods of positive reinforcement so you can toss out that awful pinch collar and teach with gentleness and humor. I have to say that I think dog training is a crap shoot, at best. While I really liked Anne, I…read morefelt that she kept "trying new things" because what she came up with wasn't working. I have a small rescue dog whose issue was twofold. She needed socialization, especially when it comes to visitors at the door and barking (which can only come in time) and she developed a habit of being very vocal and aggressive towards other dogs on our walks. Anne's solution was to reward her with treats when she is being quiet and to have my dog and I retreat behind a door when she's barking, only to start again. This is not a good solution for the real world, because when my dog is focused on another dog, she is 100 percent not interested in the treats and I cannot retreat behind an object or something while walking in my neighborhood. I recently watched an episode of Dog Whisperer, and he had much different techniques. I also have just started scooping her up and pushing her nose down continuously until she stops yelping. This has really helped. I'm not hurting her, but she does not like it, so if Cesar's technique doesn't work, I will continue with that. I have arthritis in my hands, and during my third of fourth sessions, it was made much worse because of my dog pulling on her leash for an hour. When Anne texted me that I was late for my fourth session, I messaged her back, saying I couldn't handle another hour of my hand in pain and that I wasn't able to reach her so that's why I hadn't called to cancel. I told her that her technique was not working AT ALL, I felt it was a waste of my time, and I was going to try other options. It was at this point that I expected a refund, at least a partial refund, because that was $385 out the window. Silence. So this is why I am writing a Yelp review.
