We had an appointment to have our dog groomed. They frightened him by putting a leash around his neck and making him walk inside the grooming station instead of just letting me hand him to them. It was quite different from any groomer I've ever been to. Of course, he didn't want to walk away from us and into the unknown, so he resisted. They decided to let him walk towards the exit door. They had to observe his walk to make sure he didn't limp. That satisfied them, so they pulled him in by the leash. Then they asked if he had any medical conditions. I told them he takes medicine for seizures. They said he'd have to come back another day when they had express service. Express service is actually something I'd like but taking him back another day didn't fit our schedule. We are visiting our daughter and leaving soon. Besides, I didn't want him to be put through the process he went through this morning. He's been groomed regularly for years and we've had no problems. I've had several other dogs that were groomed all their lives. We never experienced anything like this. I would like it if other groomers started express services, but these people didn't seem to try to put Baxter at ease. read more

I would not recommend the grooming department at the PetSmart on Parkside Drive/Turkey Creek. I took my poodle there after our longtime groomer left. She has always been on an 8-9 week grooming schedule and has her ears routinely cleaned by our veterinarian. Due to scheduling, she was about five weeks overdue and had some matting. I made the groomer, Emma, aware of this immediately upon arrival and told her I understood she might need to be shaved if necessary. Emma was kind and professional throughout the interaction. However, about 45 minutes after I left, I received a call stating that my dog could not be bathed because mats around her ears were so close to the skin that washing her could cause discomfort and potentially contribute to an ear hematoma due to head shaking. I was told to return and pick her up as soon as possible, despite originally being told the appointment could take up to three hours. When I arrived, I was informed that I would be charged for a bath that was never performed. I was told I could bring her back in a couple of weeks to complete the bath service. After seeing the groom, which appeared uneven, I declined to return. I also explained that I did not feel I should be charged for a bath that my dog did not receive. At that point, Emma kindly put my dog back on the table and did additional trimming. Unfortunately, another employee, Mallory with dyed red hair, who was not directly involved in the situation, inserted herself into the conversation and stated that my dog was "clearly neglected." I found this comment unprofessional, unnecessary, and inappropriate. I asked to speak with a manager and was told the manager had already left for the day. While Emma treated me respectfully, my overall experience with the grooming department was disappointing. Pet owners deserve professional communication, especially when concerns arise during a grooming appointment. Based on this experience, I would not return to this location for grooming services nor would I recommended to anyone. read more

I would not recommend PetSmart grooming services to anyone with a large dog. We took our 130 lb Doberman who is a gentle big baby in for a grooming appointment. As soon as we arrived, the groomers seemed very concerned about his temperament, even though he showed no aggression whatsoever. Then they asked if we could stay for 30 minutes or so to make sure he is fine with the environment. Again, he is a big baby and is non-aggressive. After looking him over, they denied us service because he had some small sores in his ears. Small unopened soars. They continued to look over him with disgust, and kept looking for any possible reason that they could not groom him. We took him to the vet a week prior to this appointment for a rabies shot, and the vet looked over him and had no concerns. read more

I waited over a month to get an appointment with Ashley today to groom my 14 year old, 5 pound Yorkie, Zora. Ashley refused to groom her because she said she was "too excited" and "fidgety". Zora has been getting groomed her whole life and actually loves baths and adores people. I have never had a groomer complain that she was unmanageable, and she is well trained and listens to commands like sit, stay and lie down. She has never been aggressive in her little life. She rolls over on her back and naps when I brush her or clip her nails. She literally sleeps all day and has geriatric issues. I spoke with the manager Sarah who said that it's their policy not to groom fidgety dogs and then alleged that there was a note on the account that Zora had been a problem before, which has never happened. I have never even taken her to Petsmart in Knoxville before and only changed from my regular groomer because she is out of town for the holiday. I intend to have her write a review of how well behaved my dog is to supplement this review. The fact that they lied makes me suspect that their behavior is racially motivated, so people of color beware. I even offered to come stand there to see what the issue was and was denied. If a groomer is not prepared to handle a 5 pound, well-behaved dog, then I submit that they should not be in the business of grooming dogs period. I can bathe her with one hand. Petsmart lost a lifetime customer and will never get another dime from me. read more

I specifically told Ivy M (the groomer) that I waned him to keep the same miniature schnauzer look. Just to trim the hair on top to half...... 2 hours later she called he was ready. When I pick him up and saw the puppy I want to scream at this girl so bad but I kept my cool because my daughter was with me. I thought this was a joke not even if this was her 1st time grooming can you mess up this bad!!! She cut all his hair! One side is longer the the other! One leg has long parts in patches.... made my daughter cry. The puppy doesn't even look like a miniature schnauzer anymore. I took my little mocha beans in, she is a pitbull Chihuahua. She weighs about 18 lb. I took her in for a nail trim, instead of putting her on the table, as they did at the PetSmart in California. One groomer was holding her while the other groomer was trimming her nails and grinding them. This terrified my little dog, she was shaking so bad and so scared. They sure have used the grooming table to clip her nails, as they always did at the PetSmart in Northern California. I will never return to the salon again for anything. read more

I dropped off my 25 pound spaniel at the turkey creek location in Knoxville. Before I got to my car the groomer called and told me to come and get my dog because she was scratching at the cage. She wanted to reschedule for a later appointment and charge me more to have return. I'm assuming that my little dog was the only dog to ever scratch at a cage. Ridiculous that they would not groom my dog for this reason. If you didn't want to do it why waste my time. read more

PetSmart (Farragut) has a horrible grooming service! Our dog's hair above the eye was so uneven, he looked like Popeye. They agreed to fix it but when I got him back, they cut the hair under his eye, not above. The poor baby looks horrible. His brother also had to have his hair redone because it was way too long. We asked for it to be shaved on the top of his head. Instead it was at least two inches long. He also had a one inch patch on his side, completely shaved down to the skin, but the hair on the side was two inches long. Their cousin has a growth on his back so when my sister took him to be groomed, she asked that they be very careful in that area. When she was picked up, the growth had been cut and there was a great amount of blood. We will never go back!!! Are there any good groomers in the Farragut area? read more

The staff at this location can be very nice and friendly. The store itself needs to be cleaned with more vigor. The check out also needs to be advised when to call for additional cashiers since it can get incredibly backed up. The selection is excellent and does have every necessity and all prescription foods. Do you want to know where the worst PetSmart and Banfield combo in the country is? It's tucked away in Turkey Creek in Knoxville, TN. EVERY time I have been here something is bound to happen that makes me swear I'm never going back. As a baseball fan, 3 strikes and your out, so I am now relaying to the rest of Yelp to swear off this location and go to the one near the West Town Mall instead. Here is a quick run down of our issues: Maggots In Food - Yes, you read that right. There facility is supposedly too warm in the summer month so from time to time flies swarm around the facility and drop their eggs on bags of food. Since there are often holes in these bags the eggs become maggots and imbed themselves in and around the bags of food. If you are a lucky customer that purchases these bags you get to bring maggots home to feed your dogs...wonderful! Not honoring prices/offers - I find it amusing that locations less than 5 miles apart don't run the same sales but we recently saw an offer for Caesar's on a BOGO and decided to wait a few days to make the purchase. We end up at the other location with knowledge that the offer ran through the weekend and they had no idea about the offer forcing us to go back to the original location to make our purchase. Banfield doctors/reception - This group in the back is quiet possibly the most uninformed and uneducated group of people I have ever met. Ask them anything from A to Z and be greeted with a blank stare, a "let me check" or an I don't know. A self service station and/or robot might be of more help. Again, I hope this steers at least a few people away from this location and helps them make the necessary changes to be a contributing part of our pets lives. read more

Ok. I know we've all been to Petsmart. I know we've all been to Petco. I've been to this Petsmart and the Petco just a few miles away on Kingston (next to Kroger Marketplace) many times. And it's official, Petsmart wins hands down over Petco. The main reason is price. My husband and I went looking for a hammock for our sugar gliders and found a really nice but overly priced hammock at Petco. We went to Petsmart and found a better hammock (more heavily lined and nicer fabric) for HALF the cost. Whenever we shop for our pets needs we tend to prefer Petsmart due to multiple reasons. But after finding what we were looking for at a great price, we have decided to make Petsmart our primary go-to shop. read more

To say the least I am very mad and displeased with my first AND LAST experience there for grooming. Keep in mind that my dog's appointment was at 11:45 and arrived on time. I was told that it would take 2 hours for my dog to be groomed and to come back at that time. I came back at the appropriate time and they said they were a little behind and it would take more time. Not a big deal. Places are short staffed. I came back at 3:30 to pick her up and by the time I was able to talk to the staff it was 3:45. They told me she had only had a bath. What have they been doing the whole time?? And knowing she was kept in a cage that whole time (she is a rescue and has extreme anxiety with confined spaces. The staff was notified of this upon arrival). They told me after that she would be ready at five. I came back at five and she wasn't physically with me until 5:40. $110 dollars and 6 hours later we have a choppy haircut that isn't even and she's a nervous wreck. Peed in the back seat of my car from the nerves, which she never does and never even goes in the house. She hasn't been the same since I've picked her up. read more

DISRESPECT AMD TERRIBLE GROOMING SERVICE! We made an appointment 3 days ago for grooming at 7am on Saturday morning. After arriving, the lead person in the grooming department mumbled at us about our dog not having his rabies shots within time to be groomed and shut down grooming him today. The rest of the story is that a groomer had "called out" this morning and she certainly seized the opportunity to lush us off to another day. We were told that they tried to call us at 6:30am about the missing groomer, but we have no record of an attempted call. I don't expect much - but I do expect respect for my time. She couldn't have cared less, and could not have been less accommodating. The manager was apologetic but lost.....no more Petsmart for us - goes to show the difference in dealing with an owner with skin in the game vs an employee who couldn't care less at 7am on a Saturday. read more
