DO NOT USE THE FARRAGUT, TN PETCO GROOMING LOCATION!!!! They don't even deserve one star. My experience is very similar to many of the other one star reviews. I moved to Knoxville area last October and when I made an online appointment, I was called and told that because my dog has cancer, they cannot groom him. I provided a letter of satisfactory health from a licensed vet on vet hospital letterhead and was still denied service. They said it was company policy. They then took it a step further and marked his record so on-line appointments could not be made at any Petco store, for any service. I have used many other Petco stores, in-store clinics, and grooming locations in several states and have been satisfied....however, not this one....STAY FAR, FAR AWAY! read more

I went with my daughter to pick up her 2 mini doodles today and the lady that groomed them who also said she was the salon manager charged an extra $10 for each dog for blow out she said it was a charge they charge every time, well my daughter has been going there for 5 years and this is the only lady to charge that. I've been taking my doodle there for 3 years and never been charged that fee. I understand prices increase but to be charged extra for blow out is stupidity. This lady also said the girl would start charging me for that fee too because she should have been charging it anyway. If this is the way PETCO is going to operate they will loose 3 dogs to monthly grooms. Or the groomer won't get a tip . Because that's about the tip for each dog. I will definitely be telling everyone I know not to take there doodle there if that's the way they are going to run the business. read more

Was discriminated against by a female who said she was the manager but wouldn't give her name. I went in with my American With Disabilities Act compliant, off-leash Service Animal. I have shopped at this location often over the past 3 years, 11 months without issue. A female rudely told me I had to leash my dog. I pointed out he is a Service Animal (vest is a big clue) and told her he was a legal Off-Leash Service Animal. Her response was to point at the door and tell me I had to leave. I attempted to explain the federal law to her but she stated she knew the law. When I asked to speak to the manager, she said she was the manager but refused to give me her name. One of the groomers came out and asked me if Krogers allowed me to walk around with my Service Animal off-leash. My response was "Yes, always." The question itself is also a violation of ADA. After initially being told to leave I started recording with my phone, hi h is legal in the State of Tennessee, so I have concrete proof of what was said as well as who said it. I have contacted the Civil Rights Enforcement Division within the Attorney Generals Office for the State of Tennessee, and will follow-up with a formal written complaint. NOTE: I provided my name and phone number to one of the groomers who stated she would contact "corporate" and pass on the information. I had asked for contact information for the regional manager in order to keep this issue at the lowest level possible but my request was refused and no one from PETCO has bothered to call me. I am a 100% Disabled combat Vet and my current Service Animal has been with me for 8 years. We went through over a year of training together, he has been recognized nationally, and is well known in many stores and other facilities in Farragut and West Knoxville as he is with me 100% of the time. Perhaps after this review a responsible member of PETCO will contact me. NO ONE, Veteran or not should every be treated this way. If the female who said she was the manager, is indeed the manager, she should be fired. If she isn't the manager, she should be fired for her egregious behavior. read more

They called me as I was on the way to get our dog groomed and said they couldn't do it because she has arthritis. WHILE I WAS ON MY WAY to her appointment. She had gone there for years and we think this was atrocious . I made the appointment a week in advance and the only communication I got was to confirm she was coming and that they were looking forward to seeing her. I have used Petco grooming for my dogs across the country. Michigan, Ohio, Nevada and TN. But this Petco is the worst one I have ever been too. There is a problem every time I take my dog here. Today I was told after 50? That they can not groom my dog because of meds she takes. YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME!!!! Don't go to this Petco. There is a constant turn over of groomers there. It has come to light now, that he has HV drier induced seizures. Did they take the time or effort to care for my pup? No! I was told I needed to promptly pick up my fur baby, due to distress. Once I arrived, my poor dog had never been cleaned up from his incident. He had unfortunately urinated all over himself, and his face was covered in BLOOD. The staff had never even bothered to clean him up. Not my dog... not my problem is the mentality here. Worst experience ever. I acquired two kittens in Florida and signed up for Vetco's "Kitten Shield Pro" program at $208 apiece. For two cats that came out to $428.82. This program is supposed to include a three visit series, one per month for three months. I had the first shot the day after I got the kittens in Florida with no problem (unfortunately I paid the full amount at this time) and transferred the program to Knoxville TN for the remainder of the shots. After setting the appointments, the Kingston Pike Petco texted me the night before and canceled the appointments and had no availability for over a month. I was able to reschedule several days later with the Farragut store and received a confirmation. The day of the appointment they canceled the appointments and said nothing else is available for over a month. I contacted the Vetco number and they couldn't care less that the appointments had been canceled and said I would just have to wait. THIS ENTIRE PROGRAM IS A SCAM. Save your money and find a reputable veterinarian. read more

Their service was terrible and if I could have I would have chosen 0 stars. We brought my dog into the store to get groomed and when my mother walked up to the counter to check him in so that he could get groomed she was told that they would not take him because he had a "hip condition" I explained that he is a service dog and would be able to tolerate a grooming session and they said that it is Petco's policy to not groom dogs with hip problems. If this is the case then I believe that they should have posted that on their website when scheduling a grooming appointment. I would never recommend Petco for shopping or grooming services. Was very upset with grooming today. Normally very happy, but today I went to pay and my bill was $10 higher than normal. I asked why and there was a $10 charge for shave, brush out, scissoring. I said isn't that part of a hair cut like usual and I was told that they now charge extra for using scissors but the receipt also says shave and brush out. I did not tip the $10 I usually tip and left very confused and angry. I called the other petco in the area to see what they were charging and they told me the regular price I always pay, so it looks like I will be going over there from now on. read more

Their best groomer has left, so we were assigned someone very young and obviously inexperienced. She said our dog was "too stressed" for her to work on, so all she got was a bath (charged $57.00) and we were told not to bring her to them any more. I have two standard poodles. I took them in to be groomed with very specific grooming instructions. We were having a garden wedding and many family members would be meeting our dogs for the first time. All of this was explained. Basically, our younger dog was given the worst hack job I've ever seen. His ears were shaved so closely that the tips were just scabs. His coat was uneven. Despite my instructions they shaved him down completely. The other dog they at least left a poof on his head. I knew something was wrong when they called me so quickly to tell me the dogs were ready to pick up. They have lost my business forever! read more

I have used this Petco groomer previously. I live part time in Kansas City and Lenoir City. I have a Cavalier King Charles. I made an appointment for today. When I was checking him in the sales person immediately asked me how old he was and I said 12. She immediately went into a litany of health issues asking if he had any of them. I said he had a level one heart murmur. She immediately said we can't groom him. I asked why and caustic response was "I don't touch a dog with any kind of heart murmur." I said that it's only a level 1 and the Petco in Kansas City has no problem. He also was groomed at this Petco in December with no issues. He had a heart murmur then. He is in great health and lives a happy energetic life. This was never stated to me when I made the appointment by phone earlier in the week. This person acted like my dog was diseased. It's sad that someone who works with animals is so callous. I would highly encourage NEVER to use this grooming service . Go anywhere else where there are caring people who will groom your dog. read more

This review is for the grooming service. I called about a million places trying to find one that had a grooming appointment available same day (including Petsmart in Turkey Creek) and Petco was the only place that didn't act like I was insane for wanting a same day appointment. They were super friendly on the phone and we set an appointment for a few hours later which was perfect for me. I live a bit further out (near Karns) but I don't mind driving 20 minutes to get good service. My dog is super hyperactive, doesn't get along well with other dogs and well, to be honest, had only recently been started to be broken of biting myself very hard. We have had him less than 3 weeks and I was really worried about him. I came in and Pam (groomer) was so helpful and I told her I would stick around just in case he started acting out. She reassured me he would be fine. And he did well! I even left for a little while after I was told he wasn't acting out. I came back, he came out looking perfect! The price was reasonable as well. I also liked that the grooming I was paying for could be counted on my petco card so I could get rewards back. Only reason it's not a 5 star is that there is nowhere to sit if you want to wait on your dog. read more

Please read. IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE. It's long but you'll be glad. We took in three dogs. 2 Maltese's ages 15 and 12. They have no teeth they are 4 and 7lbs. And one miniature golden doodle. We later got a call from a lady named Destiny. Saying that they half way groomed them and couldn't continue. Blaming the dogs. My husband said we've never had an issue ever getting them groomed. Very confused..Her reply was for us to take the dogs where ever we did before. And to pick them up. TWo dogs were half groomed and one they didn't even try with. When I say half groomed I mean shaved part of a leg left the other three shaved his back left his butt hole looking crazy. Ive never seen anything like it. And with my 15 year old they Like literally never took her out of the cage and tried. They didn't bathe any of them and went straight to clipping them.. which seemed odd to me. So none of them got a bath and two walked out literally looking like they had a fight with the mower. We talked to the manager who said to call back monday. That these particular groomers just throw their hands up when they run into anything. Basically inexperienced. And that the good groomer Teresa would be in Monday. I was CRYING. It was that bad. Like I was hysterical because no other groomers had openings and they left them so badly that I couldn't even take them on a walk. Shame on them for treating animals that way, blaming their inability to groom on these poor babies. Acting like the dogs were just crazy. I was even more shocked that the manager knew this was happing and hasn't fired them. Shame on Petco for allowing this bad behavior to continue. These are people babies. And they soooo do not care. The manager offered for us to come in for free at some point. unfortunately the dogs were so bad off that my husband had to go to petsmart to get clippers. And just did it himself. Not to mention I wouldn't trust that place with my babies ever again. He's never groomed a dog and still did 100% times better. Below are pictures of their work and then his. I'm posting our goodlendoodle whom they said was aggressive.... my husband shaved him and said he was falling asleep while he did his head. Not to mention if he was going crazy theres no way someone who's never groomed a dog could have done it but the trained so called professional can't? I recently adopted a poodle who desperatly needed grooming. It appeared that his previous owners had never had him professionally groomed. I took him to Petco and was blown away by the wonderful job they did, especially considering how matted his fur was. The groomers were very professional and caring. It was obvious that grooming wasn't just a job to them, they were obviously animal lovers. I will never take my dogs anywhere else for grooming! read more

The other associate didn't explain how the guarantee works, when I bought my fish, so he refunded them for me. He knows his stuff, and is very knowledgeable. I give this store a 1 star. I have shopped at this location since they opened, my dogs groom here, I pay for puppy classes on all my dogs. I have never been treated with so much disrespect as I was yesterday. I have a large German Shepard. We take her everywhere with us, but at the boat dock she is extremely difficult to handle, so we use a choke collar. Let me clarify that these do not choke a dog unless they jerk and pull so far, and she only wears this when we are in a place that she becomes very hard to handle. Well upon going to purchase this, dog food, and a life jacket the sales associate Laura and Donna absolutely chewed me out, embarrassed me in front of all customers and told me she was going to put the collar around my neck. So here's the thing, she chews me out telling me how terrible it is, so if that is the case why do they sell these? Does this mean petco sells many products that are not safe for my dog? When I leave my dog there to be groomed, are they using unsafe products or handling items with my small dogs? I am so disappointed in petco, and happily taking my business somewhere else. I would appreciate it if Donna and Laura were to educate me on the collar, maybe explaining why they do not like them, and giving me an alternative but no that was not the case. They both just called me a terrible owner, told me I abuse my dog, and had me leaving in tears. I guarantee you, me and my family care for dogs more so than anyone I know. Our dogs are ridiculous spoiled, and the most important thing to us, and we would never hurt them, or try too. They have a huge back yard, they come in and out of our house as they please, they sleep in our beds. So thank you petco, I will continue to treat my dogs very well, and I assure you my german Shepard is in no danger. read more
