My daughter read a book about a hamster and of course wanted to get one. My wife took her to PetSmart. We're very happy with little Humphrey the hamster, but not too happy with PetSmart. They sold us a cage that is woefully undersized with a hamster wheel that is even worse. If Humphrey uses this wheel, he'll develop spine issues. I've come to this Petsmart many times. This is the first time I've brought my pet to get any grooming. I have two cats, my youngest one will not let me trim his nails. Decided to give up and called Petsmart. They charge $15 for a nail trim only. Your cats rabies shots must be up to date for them to work on your pet. I had a 1pm appt. and walked into the salon about 12:30pm. The receptionist asked for the name. I told her, thinking she was looking for our appt. In the computer, but clearly looking for something else because of the response she gave to her coworker. I'm just standing there looking stupid, so I asked her, "do you need any information from me?" Also, "would you like me to take a seat in the waiting area?" She finally asked for my cats rabies paperwork, put the information in the computer, handed it back and then nothing again. There was no 'we will be right with you, no " just have a seat, the technician will be with you in about 10 minutes. Just silents! Again I asked "would you like me to have a seat in the waiting area?" She finally said "Oh! No!, the tech will be right with you." I am a stickler for customer service. This women is doing a terrible job. Her job is to communicate and direct people. Not leave them standing there! SMH!! Other than this, everything went fine. Took less than 5 minutes for the tech to clip his nails. I would definitely return, just know what to expect if I see that receptionist. read more

I had a horrible experience with the grooming salon here today. I booked my dog for a grooming at 10am. I was told it would take 3 to 4 hours so my husband and I did some errands in the area as we live 45 minutes away and it was bad weather. By 1:30 (3.5 hours) I had not heard from them so went in to check on him. Clovis the groomer told me she had not gotten to him yet and it would be another 2 hours. She was extremely rude and unprofessional so much so I did not feel comfortable leaving my dog there and took him home ungroomed. He was left terrified and alone in a crate in the back of the store for almost 4 hours. The manager was a lovely woman who apologized and said they were overwhelmed with the holiday. DO NOT USE PETSMART JENKINTOWN. DO NOT USE THE GROOMER NAMED CLOVIS. read more

Serious concerns about filth and cleanliness. All I could think was this has to be some type of violation of the health code.Trying to find out now if/who these issues can be reported to. Horrible customer service. Walked into the grooming center. It smelled horribly. There was tons of dog hair all over the floor - clearly from several dogs for over several hours, if not days. I've had friends who keep horses whose barns don't smell that bad - and I have bad allergies that mess with my smell and was wearing a mask. Now to my negative experience. I had a 1:30 appointment on Sunday. I walk in at 1:20 pm. And they say, "we're overbooked today and we tried to call you to cancel." I pull out my phone and see that they called me at 12:41, then texted to cancel at 12:43 cancelling the appointment. The groomer said they were "overbooked " and that I could either leave my dog there for 6 hours, or come back on Monday. When I said that I had to work and was in a tight spot she goes, "well those are your choices, what do you want to do". I was in a tight spot and started to leave my dog. My dog is getting agitated (he fears/hates groomers). I'm trying to pick him up and calm him. And I think to myself - if it's dirty, smelly and carpeted and littered with dog hair out here where I can see Everything- how horrible is it in the back. i Did make the point in the salon and in the main store with the manager before leaving - that they knew they were overbooked at least for hours if not more than a day - why call and text to cancel the appointment less than an hour before the appointment??? At least the store manager was understanding. I have used other PetSmart grooming salons, but will NEVER patronize that one again. read more

Tl;dr: horrible service, they don't do a good job, dog got sick from the grooming salon. This grooming salon is TERRIBLE. I will never use them again. Made an appointment, showed up on time and stood in line outside the door of the salon for almost 30 minutes to drop off my dog. They have covid protocols so I get it. But then they tried to say I missed my appointment!! I should have left then. But my dog really needed to be groomed. So I go back and forth with the girl and I guess she realized how ridiculous she sounded because she said I could still drop him off. But I would have to wait another ten minutes for my groomer. Soooo, how am I late but the groomer isn't even ready yet???? Exactly. I finally drop him off. I paid for the top dog with nail grind. The groomer had an attitude when she came to get him, and did a terrible job. His haircut was uneven, teeth weren't brushed, ears weren't cleaned, nails were still long, and anal glands looked like they were expressed, but she didn't clean the area afterwards. He was clean but she clearly wasn't thorough. He still smelled like he wasn't scrubbed well. He smells cleaner when I wash him myself! I paid $80 for a mediocre job. All of that was annoying. But the ABSOLUTE WORST PART was when I got home. My dog spent the rest of the day vomiting and had diarrhea twice. It cleared up within 24 hours, but who knows what he caught while he was there! Why didn't I read the reviews on the groomer Clovis before booking my apt with her. I walk in she mumbles a question which I thought she asked who's my groomer, she then says so you don't know your dogs name? That was strike one, I should have let her have it sitting there looking like that. She then goes on to ask for my paperwork for rabies and goes so you got this done within 48hrs, clearly the paperwork says otherwise. She then goes on to feel my dog and finds one tangle on her leg that I pulled out with my hand and says it will take her 30 min to take out mats on my dog and she would have to charge me, I said are you serious? She clearly didn't want to do a miniature schnauzer haircut on my dog. She made me very uncomfortable to even leave my pet with her, she's very rude and unprofessional. I will NEVER book an appointment with her ever again. The manager did however apologize. I wasted my time and gas going to this appointment to have to reschedule. She stated that she would have to totally cut my dog down all the way and she was not about to do that, if you don't want to work stay home. read more

The woman in charge of selling fish is unhelpful and rude. She refused to sell me a .16 goldfish for my son after asking how long I've had my tank established. After telling her it's been a few days, and I tested the water with no issues to report, she refused and told me to come back on Thursday, as she would have other types fish available as well. Not wanting to upset my son, we waited until she told us to come back, even a few additional days, and she refused to sell me any fish stating she was "testing the system" and told me to come back yet again. No Thanks Petsmart, I'm not coming back and I will no longer support your company. Instead, I will support the nearest small business aquarium store. It may not be around the corner, but the extra drive time is worth not having to ever deal with that employee again. See ya! read more

This was my first time using the grooming services at Petsmart. I was apprehensive, but the staff welcomed me and made me comfortable. I adopted my 9-year-old shorthair cat about a month ago, and he needed a deep cleaning. Kelly C. did a fantastic job; she said he was good throughout the entire process, and I'm sure it's partially because she is very good at her job. I would definitely recommend Kelly C. as a cat groomer. read more

A friend of mine got my daughter a baby turtle for her 2nd birthday. Boy was I sooo lost when it came to buying what I needed for this turtle. I was greeted by an associate named Mya who was extremely patient with me and helped me the entire time I was in the store. She had knowledge, expertise, and a friendly personality. She showed me which tank to purchase, what light & filter I needed, even down to the gravel for the bottom of the tank. My son and I went to adopt a kitten I filled out the adoption application a week before as we were told they would be having a big kitten palooza and we would have a bigger selection so after walkin around and looking at the kitten my son found three he wanted to choose from a woman asked me were we interested and I expressed to her that we had already filled out the application and would like to proceed I went to the table and gave the NASTY WOMAN my name after she found it she says oh we are waiting for your landlord I told her that's impossible I don't rent I clearly checked owned then she says oh you told the volunteers you gave your cat to someone I said no I told her my hubby had a cat when we moved in together he gave him to his friend she says how will we know you won't give her away I told her why would I be here to get my son a kitten if we are gonna give it away and isn't that what you want is for people to give them a good home she says well we just don't know why it wasn't approved we have to call I said ok then call I'll wait she then could not give me a reason we couldn't have the cat. I believe I was racially profiled she could never tell me why couldn't have the kitten. I'm a black woman I own my home and am responsible to take car of a kitten if I raised a 23 yr old I'm sure I can raise a kitten. On 7/10/21, I brought my dog in for his grooming appointment at 6pm. I was then asked for his rabies shot papers. This would have been my 3rd time getting my dog groomed at Pet Smart (1st at Willow grove 2nd at Jenkintown) and I didn't bring his papers because I brought it on my second visit and was told I would not have to bring them in again due to them being in the system. This was the only appointment I was able to book within my schedule and will be out of state for an event tomorrow! I was told that due to the papers not being in the system they would not be able to take my dog to be groomed. This was highly inconvenient and we were then penalized for a mistake on your end. This is sad and disappointing. After speaking with the manager in charge she went to talk with the staff in grooming and as my family and I waited on the other side of the glass and watched them converse back and fourth for some time we decided to leave due to not wanting to be serviced by this team. I was told "I'm very sorry for that" when telling them I was leaving and not to worry about getting to a conclusion. Trust me I know companies have rules and policies but if the rule is a puppy would need to have proof of there rabies shot in order to be seen wouldn't it be odd that on my profile it shows I was seen twice? That could mean I been getting away with showing papers and that policy isn't followed or I had my papers and it clearly shows I was seen and not sent home due to this. My money and time is obviously not valued here so I will look elsewhere. read more

Every time I go to shop at this Petsmart, there is no one around to assist me. I'm not expecting them to hold my hand, but how would I get fish without an employee? I can't exactly scoop them out myself. I tried flagging down some random employee standing around in the middle of an aisle staring at his phone, but he ignored me. When I went up to him and asked again, he walkie talkied someone and then walked away. I waited and after about 5 mins I saw the cashier come up to the front and asked him where anyone was to help me. He looked flustered, mumbled to himself and ignored me. I stood near the fish tanks for 18 minutes (yes, I timed it) before someone came to help me. She acted like I was bothering her the whole time. Once she got one of the fish I wanted, I pointed to a specific fish in another tank (because it was the only healthy looking one) and she loudly sighed and said that she "can't guarantee to catch it." Uhh ok, but there were only five fish in that tank. Also, information changes from employee to employee. One told me to change the water in my fish tank every two months, and another told me that I don't need to every change the water, just the filter cartridge. When I was just starting out my tank, I was naive and thought that the people at Petsmart would know a little about fish care. Boy was I wrong. I now know better and research everything myself. I walked around the rest of the store and was appalled at the cleanliness of the animal enclosures. Or should I say LACK of cleanliness. Birds were picking and fighting with each other (plucking feathers), the small animal cages reaked of urine. The glass was cloudy due to caked feces and urine stains. The reptiles were way too skinny and lethargic. I brought this up to an employee who was passing by, but he looked like it wasn't a big deal. It was sad. I guess this store is under staffed and don't have enough people to keep up with the care for the animals they sell or even keep up with basic customer service. I have worked in retail for over 15 years, so I can understand the dynamics of working in a huge chain store. I give a lot of people the benefit of the doubt, but this location has a lackluster, indifferent air that makes me drive to a different pet store even though this one is so close to where I live. read more

There people are very judgmental and approved me for an adoption and then when I picked an orange cat they took back their approval and denied me then got aggressive and told me I had a superstition against black cats. These people are not doing this to help the cat get a nice home they are just on a power trip. I have since adopted an amazing....believe it or not.....black cat. I've gone to this PetSmart several times and the staff, while not particularly knowledgable, seemed pretty nice. But what made this last visit particularly bad was the cleanliness of the store. I visited last night around 6pm, so a few hours before closing time. The store was pretty empty, but I saw several employees at the cash registers and walking around. As I walked down the dog food aisle, I noticed there was dry dog poop smeared across the floor (i.e. a pile and then long smears, like it had been walked through several times). Another aisle: same story. It appeared as if at least two separate dog accidents had not been cleaned up for some time after having been tracked by human shoes and dog feet around the store. Aside from being pretty gross and unhygienic to have that substance in very close proximity to the dog food, given how badly this fecal matter was smeared around the floor it was almost impossible for me to stop my chihuahua in time before she walked into it. Nasty! Not to mention there was at least one puddle of urine in another aisle that was not attended to. I know that this location is hiring, but it's just inexcusable to have the store in this condition. No one could have cleaned any of these accidents up before they became caked to the floor? This is both unsightly and, as I mentioned before, extremely unhygienic. I'm going to avoid this location. After this experience and witnessing how the store is kept, I don't want to risk exposing my dogs to that environment. I'd encourage people to go to Plymouth Meeting instead. That store is usually very clean and the employees know their stuff. read more

This review is for the Grooming Salon portion of the store only: I adopted my dog PB from PAWS last year. She was found as a stray and is a total love bug except for her utter hatred of other animals. Since my bathroom is on the 2nd floor of my home and being an older gal she has arthritis I had to find a solution to PBs grooming needs. I initially called PetSmart and explained PBs difficulty with other animals and provided her information. The staff was helpful in scheduling PB for the last appointment of the day on one of the store's slower days. Since then she has been coming once a month with this same schedule.She gets her nails ground and a bath and each time seems to have had a pleasant experience. I'm disappointed as PBs favorite staff member recently moved on from the store, however, the other staff have been just as helpful with her needs. I do provide reminders at each appointment about her behavior issues with other animals. read more

This is my local corporate chain pet supply warehouse, and from that perspective, there's nothing wrong with it. They've got a pretty good selection and the prices seem about average. Some of the employees are knowledgeable and helpful, others are semi-conscious basket cases, so in other words, about what you'd expect. My only specific advice is to avoid walking through the grass islands in the parking lot - trust me. read more

This is my local PetSmart. I have consistently found the customer service to be above par and excellent. More importantly, I recently ran into an unfortunate issue where my funds were so low, that I could not afford the pet food for the two house pets I have. I was shaken, as I asked to speak to a manager. Immediately, a manager appeared and I explained that I was a 'regular customer' (which I have been for over 4 years) and would he trust me until I received my next check -- which would have been a few days. He said "no problem", and I was able to get what I needed for my guys. I left there in tears, feeling so thankful for the experience. read more

This Petsmart is disorganized, the staff in the grooming salon are unfriendly and less than helpful. I'm new to the neighborhood, but very very familiar with it. I switched Petsmart's for my dog for convenience of my move. I made a grooming Appt two weeks prior to the date, asked for the works, when I arrived on the day of, my dog's name wasn't in the system. Of course they were full and refused to service me. The receptionist Ariel and Shyanne were extremely rude to me saying this like ""we don't see you in the system. You probably made it for another location. You don't look familiar to us. At this point, you'll have to leave and try again. It's not our fault it's not here we didn't make the appt." They weren't apologetic & showed no empathy to their error!! It was a SNOW STORM outside! Why would I leave the comfort of my home to come here!!?! I couldn't believe it. I asked for a manager, she was helpful. Nonetheless when trying to make the appt with the manager and possibly get in for the same day, other employees started to jump in our conversation yelling out "Are his shots updated, his paperwork looks expired, he will have to wait 48 hours etc." All of my paperwork for his shots were in my hand. I never felt more embarrassed in front of people (customers were in the grooming area.) They ended up having someone who canceled and got me in. When I came to pick up my dog his cut was terrible. It wasn't anything what I asked for. Shyanne did it. He was butchered and I felt it was done intentionally given they didn't want him there. I paid $80 for a cut that I have to have maintenance to. This is a well-kept and well-staffed business. I get the vast majority of my pet supplies there and have always enjoyed interaction with the sales people. The on-site vet service came in handy when I helped rescue a stray cat who needed check-up before being introduced into a home with other cats; even though I regularly go to another vet, I couldn't wait for an appointment and was delighted with the professionalism and caring attitude. Yes, many things could be bought for less money elsewhere... but I doubt if the selection of goods could be matched at any other pet store within easy driving distance. read more

In the beginning of October our cats were having a slight flea problem even though they are inside cats. They were exposed from the homeless cats we help. So, we went to PetSmart, the same PetSmart we have generally used over 13 years. We were specifically looking for Frontline, because that is what we had used on homeless cats. They didn't have it, so all the had was Sentry Purrscriptions for Cats and Kittens. We used it on all three of our cats. The product said watch for any irritation with older cats, so we did with our one cat who as older. After a few hours he was having a poor reaction, so per the instructions, we rinsed the product off. The instructions they gave were incomplete, we found out later that you were supposed to use Dawn or Dove, we didn't know this so we used baby shampoo. Later that night Buttons died. The reason why I hold PetSmart partially responsible, is because despite hundreds of complaints, they continue to sell this product. Additionally, when asked, they claim they have never heard any complaints about the product, which must be false. We sent them all the complaints we found on the internet about this product and they never offered any refund for the poisonous product and they never offered us anything to help offset the over $700 veterinary bill we attained that night from taking our cats to the vet. When we filed a BBB complaint, they simply forwarded it to the company that makes the product and claimed that they have no responsibility. They claim that because it is EPA approved, they are not responsible. And the worst part about it is, they never acknowledged that there was even anything wrong with the product. And all these pets have lost their lives, some as young as two years old. I have been on numerous medications before and never thought that I would have to go on the internet to look up any of these medications I have been on, so the notion that I would think that a flea product I bought off the shelf at a place that I trusted would need to be google'd first. There should have been more disclosures on the product if PetSmart is going to sell it. read more
