ZERO STARS!!! Took my dog to get groomed there twice and never again. The first time my dog went, he was nervous, as he had never been to there before. (I just moved from another city). The groomers called me when he was ready, and everything was all set, until they said "please do not bring your dog here to be groomed on the weekend. We are really busy and can't be attentive to him because he is upset (he was whining)." Fine, okay, I got it. He had some anxiety. JUST brought him over today to have him groomed like the last time...they basically SHAVED MY DOG!!! MY dog is part golden part beagle...YOU DONT SHAVE MY DOG!!! I was so upset, and they said, well you did ask for a trim...are you kidding me???? They obviously don't care about pets, and their customers. Please be careful going there, they are the worst in treating dogs right. I plan to send a letter to the CEO about the horrible treatment. read more

I really wish I could give them no stars...but Yelp won't let me. Petsmart is great for buying stuff and food for our animals, but I will never attempt their grooming services again. I made an appointment, got there, and had to wait at least 30 minutes before someone took my dog. They then proceed to put her in a kennel cage in the back. I received a phone call 40 minutes later, when they finally got to her, that they couldn't get her out of the cage and that she was being agressive. This dog wouldn't know how to be agressive if she tried. She is a love bug to all. Save yourself and your animal and go somewhere that doesn't feel like an assembly line at a factory. read more

I've only had a puppy for about 3 weeks. I got him when he was 4 months old... (roughly). As a new pet owner, this place has become my second home. This addiction I have is simply because of a geographical monopoly. In my trips there I've noticed that it is almost impossible to get someone to help you promptly. On one occasion I was looking to see if a particular crate was in stock. When I finally got the manager over (and when I say "I", I really mean, when my roommate Kat tracked him down while i waited politely annoyed). He did offer to call other stores, and then told them to give us 10% off. which was nice, but the other store was in woburn, it was already a friday night, and really, we just wanted to get what we needed and go. Opting for a smaller crate (which will do for the first couple years, we continued shopping) . Telling the manager thank you but we weren't going to go to the other store. He did offer to give us 10% on all of our purchases which was really nice. Another occasion of note was when I went to purchase a bark collar for Harper. It was about a week and a half into puppy ownership, and Harper (the pup) was having some issues barking while in the crate. This just isn't acceptable. We rent, we have neighbors. Barking can't happen while in the crate. He didn't have any issues getting into the crate, or staying in there, but when I left barking started. So, an immediate fix is a bark collar. I had my mind made up on a shock collar... i'm an EE i'm a fan of electricity. I don't care for a collar that shoots citronella (which has to be replaced). The issue again with this purchase at petsmart, was the lecture and grilling I got from the 17 tear old manager. pretty much didn't want to sell me a product they sold, and spent the entire time on a soap box about ethics and such. Now I can respect her trying to up-sell training at petsmart or the non shocking collars which are almost double the price.... that's smart business, more money for petsmart... but no, she wasn't selling, she was judging. She wasn't following a corporate script, she was throwing in her 2 cents about products that a company she works for happily sells. Not cool lady. you don't know me. What is worse is that she was trying to fear me out of the products. After I directly stated what I wanted, she still seemed reluctant to sell it to me. The whole experience rubbed me the wrong way. I left feeling that for this girl, she has a list of people she hates, and like i'm somewhere on the list near Hitler. At check out time, the lines are always long and slow. The staff is mostly friendly, a little crazy... there's one lady with wicked long fingernails... it takes her forever to type anything in. She's sweet though. but the nails kind of remind me of salad fingers. It'd be cool if they stepped up their game, and acted like they cared about their store, and maybe their customers. They will lose a star if I can't take my puppy there for a photo w/ santa come xmas time. read more

This store is way bigger than the petstore down the street from us in Allston, I like the organization of this one more too. Pluses: They have a koi pond when you walk in - it makes me jealous. They have training classes for puppies on the weekend and you can look at all the cute doggies even if you don't have one! It's the size of a warehouse yet it doesn't smell like ass like most petstores. The last time i went there the lady who rang us up had the LONGEST NAILS IN THE WORLD, they were like 4 inches long and they made me want to throw up all over the place... So gross. They should have rules about that in the work place. She couldn't even pick things up... Yucky... read more

Had the best experience with the PetSmart Grooming Salon in Everett. Kat was absolutely amazing, and gave my beloved fur baby Moose the best grooming he has had to date. Kat was so great with my love bug, and it was clear he was taken such good care of while with her :). Moose has had some dental problems he is scheduled to have taken care of soon by his vet, and it meant a lot that Kat had taken the additional time to notice this as well during Moose's grooming, and mention it to me in case I didn't know. It shows how attentive she was to him while he was under her care. Needless to say, I would recommend Kat to anyone, and will definitely be booking her again in the near future. I want to like PetSmart, I really do - I want to be a PetCo convert...but I can't if this is what they have to offer. They are always out of things it seems or perhaps I am just picky when I want healthy treat and organic foods - either way I am the customer and I want to purchase things that are not there...fail. No one offers to help you, even when you approach them they act like it is a chore and tell you to wait so they can finish their conversation or what they are doing...fail. The selection is terrible for dog stuff..I have looked for new collars for a male dog that is not boring, gentle leads, various items - the selections is seriously lacking....fail. The store is dirty...fail. Yes, the prices are cheap - but so is the quality..fail. :( read more

I think that the pet training programs/classes offered by the PetSmart in Everett are awesome! Erin, the Head Trainer, the Best!!! I have signed my pup up for 2 training classes (Puppy & Beginner) because of Erin. She truly loves what she is doing and knows how to be an instructor and it show with every interaction she has with my dog and every dog she comes into contact with. P.S. We go here because we have to in order to get the prescription food for our cats. I will say that I usually check the register lines to ensure I don't have the woman with the super long purple nails. Usually things like that don't bother me, but I find those a bit disturbing. She can keep her nails, I just will go into any other line other than hers. read more

There is one employee here who works in the fish department that I like. He knows his fish and quizzed me before I bought a pair of cories. Like most pet stores, they do have an assortment of people who are only there because they need a job. They take terrible care of the tortoises. Every PetSmart seems to think russian tortoises should be on a be on a bark bedding with a tiny water dish and feed them that formulated crap they sell. That stuff is a one way ticket to deformity for tortoises. They should only eat fresh greens, flowers, hay, etc. Never anything with grain or other fillers, which the food has in it. They should be on a bedding that retains moisture and should also have a water dish big enough to soak in. read more

I brought my dog to Petsmart in Braintree. Figured I would give the grooming a try. I have a 95 lb Golden Retriever. Very sweet boy. I should have known when I left him not to do it, but I learned my lesson. Dirty, smelly, overbooked!!! I picked him up and smelled like he was peed on and he was running out of there. I had to put him in the tub when I got home... nobody wanted to go near him he smelled so bad. I only got rude comments from them and the run around. Do not take your pet here!!!! I'm actually not a big fan of tihs specific location of Petsmart. I walked in expecting to see that it resembles the Petsmart in Salem, NH as well as other places, but nope. I felt that the lighting was off somehow, and it bugged me a bit. Not to mention there was a really low selection of dog toys than what I'm used to at any pet store. I remember walking around twice and realizing that the 2 isles were the only dog toys that they had. I was sort of freaking out because the selection was horrible. I end up buying this one weird toy that my dog really doesn't play with. The food I prefer was not in stock, but I was able to subsitute for the same brand. I would not go back to this location because I just didn't like the feel for this location. On a good note the staff was friendly with my dog, which is a big one for me. read more

Seanne, I wish I wrote this sooner.... I brought our Poodle Biscon-frisse mix to be groomed there. Big mistake! They did the same thing to your dog as to mine. I frequent the dog park in Somerville and people commented on Wally's new "nakedness" from his previous sheep-like appearance. The salon associates were rude, treated me like I knew nothing of my dog, and almost outright accused me of not taking care of him. I felt like I was gonna get pummeled at a PETA rally for wearing a mink coat. I wrote to their corporate site, and the store manger himself replied. I never write a nasty letter to places, so I didn't really expect a reply. He offered to refund the money, I didn't take it; I asked him to at least do something about their Customer Service in the salon. But don't get me wrong THE REST OF THE STORE IS EXTREMELY COURTEOUS AND HELPFUL. I did comment on that to them, it's just a pity, that the salon is just so horrible. Now I take my darling puppy to a groomer in Stoneham, I've got to say, if they own their own business, you get much MUCH better service. It might be a bit pricier (I paid $15 more) but it was well worth it. read more

This is regarding the grooming salon at the Everett Petsmart. We have come here many, many times. We used to only book with one, and only that one groomer, who no longer works there. Ever since she left, our experience has been worse and worse. First of all, they never respect the groomer that was picked for the appointment. We make our appointments 1-3 months in advance. The last 2 out of 3 times, we have received a call the night before to let us know a different groomer is grooming our mini goldendoodle, and that we have no choice, unless we want to go online and book again. There's a long wait time for that, as in weeks or months. So we've said yes. Never again! This time, our dog came come with razor burn all over his butt. It is so red it looks like it's bleeding, and he is very bothered by it. We found out that's what it was once we sent pictures to our vet! We had no idea! Needless to say, no matter how desperate we get, we are no longer coming here. This was the last straw. Unacceptable, and unbelievable. read more

This is the super-Walmart of pet stores. It's one stop shopping - food, toys, clothes, grooming supplies, groomer, Banfield vet. If you wouldn't shop Walmart for a special occasion, you wouldn't shop Petsmart for a special dog. They have rows of dog food, but none that a consciencious pet owner would buy. There's no grain free food. No raw food... Average assortment of treats. This is another good idea gone bad. Judging by the smell of urine in the entry way, even the pets disapprove. So, what did Bella put on my charge? A holee ball, a nail clipper, curry comb, and dog psychology book. All for about $30. God love the cashier with nails longer than any you've seen in ANY legendary horror film. What's scarier is they're real. Bless her heart. read more

I just brought our new Boston Terrier, Bob, over there to get his nails trimmed and ears cleaned. The staff was nice and very friendly with my dog- even the woman running the cash register came around to scritch his ears and give him half a dog treat. She even had advice on how tight to have his collar (two finger widths) since it had loosened up on me. The groomer lady was very nice and had the job done very quickly. She was thorough but gentle and let me come into the room to hold him. She also showed me how the nail clipping is done after I asked. The other nice thing is that for young puppies, their first nail clipping is free and you can walk in without an appointment. I'd rather find a independent groomer but it is nice to be able to park, run in and get him taken care of quickly and also to be able to pick up other pet supplies at the same time. They seem to keep the shelves well stocked. read more

I will say outright that my story is different because I have 2 cats and the grooming is less "breed specific," but I took them to Petsmart today to get a shave and bath and I am really happy that Jean persisted despite the fact that cats are tough. I admit, they look absolutely ridiculous right now, but I think they will be more comfortable for the summer and they seem relatively un-traumatized. I can imagine that taking dogs somewhere a little more "upscale" makes sense, though. read more

I really like this Petsmart- always tons of parking, very friendly staff, and it's pretty clean, considering dogs are running through there all day. I'm only removing one star because they don't a wide range of foods for dogs with allergies. It's a growing market so i'm pretty surprised that they don't carry any of the brands that my vet recommended. I had to go to Petco and some feed stores to find those. read more

In essence, a Walmart for Pets. The staff may not be friendly or well-trained, but prices are very competitive and they close later than most other pet stores in the area. The selection here is rather large, with all kinds of accessories and items you need for your pets. I usually pick up cat litter here, along with a toy or two sometimes. However, they don't carry any premium pet food brands so I end up buying food elsewhere. Still, the selection here will satisfy most pet owners. I have also used the grooming service here for my dog. She's a Rottweiler mix so it was just a basic shampoo and brush. I thought they did a decent job, but if I owned dogs that required more elaborate grooming I'd probably take them elsewhere. This particular store seems a bit understaffed though. There is usually only one line open, operated by the lady with the longest nails I have ever seen. It's straight out of a horror movie. Another note: avoid the random puddles of liquid at all costs. Odds are, it's dog pee. read more

I'm stealing Bryan's comment - a Wal-Mart for pets. They have everything you need, always in stock, and the prices are better than the PetCo in Cambridge. Also, the parking is much easier and there's lots of shopping to kill time if your dog is being groomed (or drinking, see my review of Texas Roadhouse). I'm surprised to see the negative reviews of the grooming service, we've actually had pretty good luck with them. Our little guy is a labradoodle and he hates the heat in the summer, so we've actually left at least once wishing they took off just a little more. Perhaps they are reading the yelp reviews and taking heed. Anyway, the grooming staff is always very nice and gentle with our pup (I'm a dork so I checked in on him a few times the first visit). My one complaint is that they really don't do a good job on the nails... again, maybe they are worried about taking off too much, but usually it seems like they didn't really trim them at all. I would recommend just buying one of those doggy nail trimmers and not wasting your money on the service. (Psst... they sell them at PetSmart.) read more

Called to get my dog groomed and they said he's banned because we complained about grooming and he's been labeled a difficult dog. We haven't taken him during Covid 19 so I was confused. Then they said it was our other dog. We said we never complained, spoke to the groomer personally, who said he was well behaved and even gave a tip, but they would not back down. They then said maybe our dog is banned because he really is bad but the groomer just said he was good or perhaps he's banned because we cancelled our other dog's appt during Covid. We said, you're the ones who cancelled our appointment. They'll only take him back for an "assessment". If my dog is going to feed off my anger right now, no way. I think either they mixed up their records or the groomer did not like our tip. It's a shame because that was the only groomer there that I did like. read more

Training Classes -- We LOVE our trainer, Ana! She is terrific with our pup and is as sweet as can be. Our pup has shown a vast improvement from before and after the 6-week class, especially when it comes to loose leash walking! Grooming Salon -- I was hesitant to use the salon based off of the reviews, but Jess did a fantastic job on our whoodle's cut! She was very polite and honest while we decided on the best way to tackle the matting on my pup's face. She was able to get the matting out without shaving him and overall did an awesome job on his cut. It looks great and our pup is one happy camper! She called when he was done and it took only about two hours. Thank you, Jess!! read more

The reason for no higher stars were we weren't greeted at all and no one seemed very pleasant, however there were plenty of staff working and we got in and out quickly. It's Wal-Mart for pets. I don't like big impersonal chain stores, I admit it. But I do melt a bit at all the cute animals running around. But there's always one jerky dog with a complex growling and lunging. I wish they could throw those out. Anyway, on the subject of the store: for ferret owners, it's meh. Lots of Marshall Farms products, no really good food like Evo. It does have things like ear cleaner and Ferretone, though. But it's so damn depressing to see the poor ferrets in that aquarium they keep them in. Who even buys pets from a store any more? The shelters are full of beautiful, loving ferrets and other small mammals looking for homes! Now I go to Brookline Dog Grooming, which carries Evo food and has an amazing selection of dog toys in all sizes, including small enough for ferrets. It's tiny and jam-packed, but I prefer that to corporate. And they don't sell animals. read more

My first experience with their grooming service was very disappointing. What happened was that I called them to make an appointment and when I showed up they turned us away due to my puppy having his vaccine less than 48 hours ago. Even though it may be their policy they should have informed me over the phone when I was talking to them to book the appointment. The manager told me they would not have asked on the phone since most puppies don't get their rabies shot until 6 months. I checked with my Vet and they said most puppies get their rabbie shots by 12 weeks. Our puppy is 13 weeks old. read more

Both pet smarts in lubbock, texas have over filled fish tanks with dead fish just floating in them. You could tell the dead fish had been in there a while and no effort was made to remover them. Anytime they have a dead betta fish, they don't remove it, they just push it behind the ones that are alive. Overall just a horrible place. I would NEVER go back to buy fish from them again. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE. We decided to use PetSmart to have our puppy's first grooming appointment. The website told us that we could do curb side pickup to make it easier. When we arrived, we called the store and an employee named "Sadie" answered. When we told her we were doing curbside pick up she said " Well, cant you just come in?". So we went inside, and the same "Sadie" was waiting for us. From the very beginning, she had a terrible attitude and make it obvious that she was looking for any excuse to get out of doing her job. She did not smile once. Our puppy was scared and anxious due to the first time having this appointment and the fact that there were dogs all around him which is NORMAL. As soon as "Sadie" saw him, she told us right away that she probably wasn't going to do it because he's too scared. She then proceeded to try and get the rope around his neck without trying to calm him or get him use to her, which is common sense to do. Of course, he got even more scared and was backing away from her. If a lady with a scowl on her face tried to come at me to put a rope around my neck, I'd be scared as well! Finally she got the rope around his neck and brought him to the table. He didn't even last 2 seconds on top of the table and she said she refused to do it because he was too scared. They didn't have harnesses or anything so they expect the dogs to stand still the entire time on top of the table. Then she just put him back on the ground without a leash or anything and walked away from him. Our dog could have run loose around the store, but luckily he ran straight to us. Very bad service! She told us that they only way that he could be groomed is if we get him sedated first. (I took clippers to him at home and he was calm) She then proceeded to tell us how we should've gotten him use to other people and that it's our fault he is scared. Like I have mentioned already, it was very obvious that she was trying to get out of doing her job. Terrible customer service. Terrible employee. read more
