Great experience at this location! I came in in a pinch, needing to buy prescription dog food for my dog on a Saturday. I was able to go to the Banfield pet hospital and explain and show my information with valid prescription and they helped me out! EVERETT PETSMART - PLEASE LEARN HOW TO FISHLESS-CYCLE YOUR DISPLAY TANKS. THEIR WATER QUALITY IS UNSAFE. I recently purchased a school of red minor tetras with ammonia poisoning from this location. I have good reason to believe it is from their tank water in the store. Immediately once they were put in the bag, I noticed many of them had noticeably puffy, red inflamed gills. All of them were pale. They are small fishes so it may have been hard to notice at first, but I have taken care of their species for years now and it was very clear up close that these ones were not feeling well. Before they moved into the quarantine tank I had prepared for them, I took 4 vials of water from the bag of tank water they were put in at PetSmart. I was surprised that after finally being in a well-aerated, nitrogen-cycled tank for only one day, I noticed that all of the visible inflammation on their gills went away. And now I know why-- the tetras' tank at this PetSmart had an ammonia level of at least 0.5ppm. Anything over zero is toxic. Their tank in the store was not even cycled. It makes sense in a way, because I've always been shocked by how stores like PetSmart and Petco won't even mention to unknowing customers the most important part of keeping a fish alive: nitrogen-cycling their tank first. But it's very distressing that these PetSmart staff themselves don't even seem to be taught how to properly take care of the aquatic animals living in the store. The nitrate level in the water from the tetras' bag was also not good. It looked to be between 40-80ppm, suggesting insufficient water changes. While the API freshwater test kit sets 40ppm as the highest tolerable threshold for freshwater aquariums, the aquatic vet I work with has personally seen poor health resulting from nitrate levels much lower. Bottom line: This is not acceptable animal husbandry. Everett PetSmart - please test your water and make sure your display tanks are fully nitrogen-cycled before our finned friends have to live in them. read more

Went to purchase items for Guinea pigs and cat and noticed the Guinea tank had 6 piggies in it and one tiny hay ball. I asked if they could please give the guinea pigs more hay and the manager with short curly hair and facial piercings whose name is Jess (I believe) told me rudely they feed them every hour. I explained they need way more hay and she started arguing with me instead of feeding the living animals the store sells. Hi guys! It's Daisy again! My mom had a quick meeting at Panera nearby, so my dad and I went into PetSmart while we waited for her. I was allowed to get a new toy, so I got a pizza! I love this pizza. My dad said it was super cheap ($2), and I haven't killed the squeaker yet. I have killed squeakers on advertised more durable toys, but not this guy. Plus, I guess I look super silly running around with a pizza in my mouth. Sometimes I get my nails trimmed here as well (as well as the Cambridge location). They always do a good job, and I am a dog that doesn't like strangers or getting my nails cut. I think this might be where my mom bought my Shark costume. I hated it. We visited the adoption center for a parakeet. There is a collaboration between PetSmart and Boston animal rescue league (ARL), and all the parakeets seem to be housed in PetSmart (either Everett or Cambridge) currently. The adoption process has been quite different than for a pet housed in the shelter of Boston ARL: one need to first fill out an application form, obtain an approval from Boston ARL, sign the adoption contract, pay over the phone, and then take the animal. Since we didn't fill out the application form in advance, there were multiple phone calls/emails back-and-forth to get the paperwork done. Andrea, the staff in PetSmart, helped us for the adoption. She promptly faxed our application form, and took initiatives to communicate with Boston ARL to get our application approved, showed great empathy during the entire process. Overall, the store is pretty nice. The fish tanks and cages of other live animals (birds, reptiles, small mammals etc.) look quite clean and well-maintained, also the staff is friendly. read more

When I questioned her she proceeded to tell me that no-one wanted to groom my dog because he is difficult, in front of other customers, I was mortified. First I ever heard this, I wish I knew, no one in the past ever mentioned it. Then she said I'm welcome to go to another groomer. Nice. The Manager I spoke to, Louie, basically sided with her. My dog was cowering on the ride home. Never has acted this way, disturbing. Usually everyone there is pleasant and kind. Not this experience. Be aware. read more

Where to start with this terrible grooming salon? As some background, I have gone to other Petsmart groomers and have never had the problems mentioned below. But I recently moved to the area and thought I would try this location. I have given them three chances and each visit was worse than the last. Perhaps the most important piece of information is that the staff clearly doesn't know how to handle pets while grooming them, and as a result they are quick to slap on a $7 handling fee for grooming your dog. Over the years, at other Petsmart locations, I have never had this happen. At this location, the charge has been consistent. If I go to Petsmart for some other reason (shopping, vet) and look through the grooming salon window, it's clear the groomers can't handle other dogs as well. Perhaps it's not that every dog is troublesome, but that the staff has no clue how to make the dogs comfortable? This is clearly a staff problem, and they use it as a way to nickel and dime the customers at every opportunity. During drop off at my most recent (and final) visit, the groomer asked what haircut I wanted. I told her to do what the notes in the system said, since he has been getting the same haircut for years. She made no effort to even check the notes, so I had to explain the haircut. Then she said, "Don't you think that will look weird?" No. I do not. She was completely unprepared and discourteous. But on the other hand, she was quick to make sure I knew there would be a $7 charge if my dog needed extra handling. Not surprising. And of course when I pick up my dog she did not do what I asked (shaving his belly and legs), so he will need to get groomed again sooner. The last thing I will say is I am surprised that with such bad service this groomer is consistently booked up. Perhaps it is because of the Petsmart name and people assume there is some quality association. But there is no such association and no one should be patronizing this groomer. We've been taking our dog here for a couple years now and I have to say this place does not disappoint! We have a Lhasa Apso and his hair gets long/ curly which makes him look so chubby. We decided it was time to get him a haircut since the weather is getting much warmer. The grooming station is located at the right of the store when you enter. The place is clean and well lit. Service is amazing and our groomer, Jess, listened to our concerns and needs. Our dog had the grooming and top dog plus. He got this teeth cleaned, nails trimmed and even got a bath. They called us when they were finished and it took about less than 2 hours for the whole service. Total was $74 (extra $7 fee for them to untangle his matted legs and chin). If you just get a groom, it's a lot cheaper but since we wanted to treat our dog to something special we decided to add the other package of top dog plus. Also, we only take him to the groomer twice a year so it's not a bad price to pay for a high standard of service. We are happy with the end result as he looks and smells so clean! Plus we can finally see his cute big brown eyes. It is visible from outside of the separate room, but can't pet or assess closely. Updating the below review. I contacted PetSmart corporate and they got back to me pretty quickly. They contacted the store and let me know they would honor the refund. I went back today and a different employee that understands customer service took extra care on this whole ordeal. I'm willing to give them another try. We all make mistakes, it's how we correct them that matters and PetSmart stepped up to the plate! -------- PetSmart is more interested in being arrogantly right than helping a customer. I bought a large bag of cat food that I never opened. I had a smaller bag of this food at home that I had tried and my cats liked. Yet before I could open the second bag I discovered my cat was highly allergic to it. I took the bag back not expecting a refund just an exchange and when I got to the register I was told I couldn't return it without a receipt. The store clerk and manager were vigorous about this without even looking at the bag of food vs finding a way to make this work. You've lost a customer. And you wonder why your ratings are so low here. read more

I went here the other day, and this location is filthy. I brought my pup here, and it was a mistake. Because he's a puppy, he still tries to chew everything. The floors were not swept; he kept getting his mouth on clumps off dust/strings. At one point I had to dig out of his mouth a piece of plastic that was on the floor. One aisle has some sketchy looking food (it was an orange cube) on the floor my puppy kept trying to eat. I don't feel safe taking my dog here. Granted, he does need to be trained on "drop it" and "leave it." But even so, the place should not be as dirty as it was. I get this is a pet store, but the place was unusually grimy. The Petco/Unleashed stores I've been in are much cleaner, so not sure why PetSmart can't do the same. read more

I have been shopping here since they opened. No longer!! I have 30+ years experience dealing with fish. I went in to get 2 fancy goldfish. I picked them out and the young clerk told me she could not sell them to me because my 50 gallon aquarium was at capacity with 5 small goldfish! She would sell me the feeder goldfish, but not the two fish I wanted. I have never experienced a sales clerk telling me basically I didn't know what I was doing and accusing me of not caring for the "pets". The Everett, MA PetSmart is filthy dirty. The shopping carriages are not cleaned, they are disgusting, with leftover debris, and Lord only knows, whatever else, in/on them. There are no sanitizing wipes in the front entranceway, where the shopping carriages are corralled, for customers to clean the shopping carriages, before they handle them. There are no PetSmart employees sanitizing the shopping carriages, after they are used. Sanitizing wipes and staff cleaning carts are part of the most basic Covid 19/Infection Control Mitigation Principles. It appears that PetSmart does not care about the health or well being of their customers or employees. Shame on PetSmart! What a stark contrast to the Staples in Somerville, where, not only the shopping carriages and baskets are sanitized, after each use, but, Staples employees put big signs on each shopping carriage and basket, after they've been cleaned/sanitized by a Staples employee, that says, "sanitized." Lord only knows how the animals are treated/maintained in the Everett, MA PetSmart, I don't dare look. I had some questions that she couldn't seem to answer & the class felt more like a classroom compared to a training class for my pup. This review is for their grooming department. Unfortunately, I'm unable to comment on the quality of their grooming, as you will see when you keep reading. Arrived for a 1:30 appointment. First bad sign was that the groomer didn't know what a puppy cut was. Second bad sign was that you could hear insane barking coming from the holding area. When the groomer was asked as a joke if they were running a pound, she said that those were the dogs that were waiting to be groomed, and that it would take around four hours to get to my dog. When asked what was the point of having an appointment for 1:30 if it would take four hours to get to him, was told that I could have paid for an "express" option. There was no option for express when we booked the appointment. No way was I leaving our little guy there for four hours, so we left. If you love your dog, do yourself a favor and GO ELSEWHERE! read more

I took my 15 year old shih zu there and they were absolutely wonderful! I was nervous because he is deaf and blind, for that reason he hadn't been properly groomed in 7 months. They were so patient and caring with him. I would recommend PetSmart grooming. read more

This location never has any small animals. They have 18 cages for hamsters and since February (at least) they have not had one single cage ever have an animal in it. For awhile there were signs on them that said "Reserved, Animals Are On Their Way" (or something similar to that) but within a month the signs were down and still no animals. wI asked the cashier yesterday why this was the case and she said "oh because of Covid 19". I told her "well that simply isn't true because the Petsmart locations in Woburn and Saugus always have animals so this seems to be a decision of the management for this location" She just shrugged. I go to this location frequently to pick up dog food and I always check those hamster cages. Why even bother having them? Doesn't seem very "smart" to me. read more

Only giving 1 star because I'm forced to in order to place a review. My 7 lb toy poodle was in sad shape, just being honest. I couldn't get her in for an appointment due to COVID -19. When I picked her up from her appointment I was told how "bad" my dog's behavior was. Then when we got her home we had to cut numerous areas on her body that were very uneven. I don't even think she was given a bath. When you pay $78.00 to get your dog bathed and groomed, why should you EVER have to do anything to them when you get them home? We go down to look at them and find the habitat on sale for $150 wow what a big difference, I asked if there was anything I could do and they said no!! Okay I will eat that one three days later the heating bulb went out really three days these bulbs are not cheap. This is regarding the pet groomers only. I had an appointment to have a full bath and haircut for my pup. Cadna the woman who we had the appointment with put the leash on my dog and as my dog is bouncing around like a regular puppy she continues to tell him "stop it ! Stop it !" while tugging the leash. The dog jumps and she throws the leash down and says he tried to bite her and she "will not take him." But then she wants to reschedule? I get puppies are hyper but I usually go to Saugus location and they are upbeat and sweet talk the dog as they are taking them away from the owner. This experience sucked but if she was yelling and tugging my dog infront of me. I could only imagine when im not around. read more

This review is just for one specific groomer. Bianca. I dropped off my dog with her at my 8am appointment (for which she showed up late) and then asked her approximately how long it would take and she said 2-2.5 hours but she would call me when he was done. Pretty normal groomer stuff. I swung by at the 3 hour mark, around 11am, to check on the progress because I hadn't heard anything and they proceeded to tell me that they hadn't even started his haircut and would need another hour. I informed her that I had to go to class in the city and had blocked a 3.5 hour period for this appointment. In all my other experiences with groomers, when I request just a full shave for my 20lb dog, it doesn't ever take that long. She told me store policy was that they aren't supposed to keep dogs there longer than 3 hours so I had to pick him up as soon as they finished, but I had already left him there for 3 hours so clearly there was some sort of misunderstanding here. Since we were basically in an impossible situation, I ended up just having to leave my dog there for another 4 hours with her shaking her head at me for not having the flexibility in my schedule. When I finally came back to pick him up, his skin was nicked in multiple areas and they charged me an extra $7 handling feee because they said he was "being difficult" during the blow-drying. I've never in my life been charged extra for my "difficult" dog because he is probably one of the most timid creatures I've ever known and has never caused problems for vets or groomers in the 12 years I've had him. I trust that not everyone in this establishment is like this and I definitely have had good experiences here, but I think it's time someone gave a training on customer service to some of the people at this Petsmart Grooming Salon. This isn't meant to be belittling and the other people I interacted with during this particular appointment were all very pleasant. I'm just exceedingly frustrated and I really hope some improvements are made. read more

Took my yorkie for a 8am grooming appointment and an hour later I get a call saying that they accidentally deeply cut my dogs leg and that he needs staples. They told me not to worry that they will cover the expenses. OF COURSE you guys will cover the expenses. It's ridiculous that they hire people that are very uncareful at their job. Dogs are already stressed going to the groomers. You traumatized my dog. I received so many messages today about how their dog were also hurt at the SAME location. The groomer didn't even cut my dogs hair correctly. He had bald spots in some areas and patches of hair in others.
