I wanted to support a local business despite reading previous reviews and clearly that was a big mistake. I told the scheduler over the phone exactly what I wanted for both dogs and they didn't make notes because I had to tell them again when I arrived for my appointment. Two hours later I was called and told that my Golden Retriever was not allowing herself to get a cut even with 4 people holding her down. When I got home all I had to do was give her a treat and comfort her and I gave her a cut myself. I was avoiding this because I am 6 months pregnant and thought it would be easier to have a professional do it, I was wrong. They didn't hand me my dogs when I picked them up and just threw the leashes, I had to chase after them with no help as they ran out the front door because they were desperate to use the restroom after being locked up for so long just for a bath. When I got home I noticed my other dog didn't have his paws trimmed which was the main reason he was going besides for a bath. I told husband how the appointment went and he called the business back to ask why his paws were not shaved. He was told we never said that he needed it done, when in fact we did over the phone and in person multiple times. Very unorganized establishment. To make it worse my husband told the establishment that I was able to cut my Golden's hair alone at 6 months pregnant and that they should not promote that they can groom larger breeds if it is not true (again I should have trusted a previous review that I had read). My husband was then told "Honey, we do small dogs and we do big dogs, we just don't do idiot dogs". Need I add that like all the Golden's I've encountered, ours is very sweet, submissive, and intelligent. If this is how the establishment treats our service members I can only imagine how they treat their clients dogs. Stay away from this not so "heavenly" so called groomer.

She might be suitable for keeping larger dogs, but definitely not smaller dogs. My dog stayed with her just 1 night and when I picked her up on Sunday, her entire chest looked as though she had been kicked with a steel-toe boot. It was purple and swollen...resembling a blood blister. Not to mention the fact that she was filthy with dirt. I did not notice the area of concern until I got home and immediately bathed her. After seeing her chest area and evaluating her pain level, I called Pet Nanny to see what happened. She told me the following: "Your dog was jumping out of a window the whole day, having fun. It was about 5 feet tall, but she wasn't clearing the jump every time." It blows my mind that she did not think to stop her from jumping even though she noticed that she was not "clearing" the jump every time. Her little legs could not land the jump so she was essentially falling onto the ground and her chest was breaking the fall every time. She could have broken bones or even worse, severely injured her spinal cord. I hesitate to say that she may be suitable for watching larger dogs as well. There is no possible way that she can keep watch over so many dogs in an open area. Dogs can get in fights, dig through fences, etc... within a matter of minutes. Let me be clear, I do not believe that the Pet Nanny is a bad person or intentionally hurt my dog. I just think that she was negligent. I would never trust her again. As someone who agrees to board your dog, it is their responsibility to keep them safe and free of harm. Pet Nanny did not do this. As a pet owner, it is my responsibility to ensure my dog's safety, even when I am away from her. I would rather my dog be safely confined in a crate at the vet than able to run freely at the risk of hurting herself...sometimes we have to stop a dog from doing something because they do not know to stop for themselves. From what I understand, she is not licensed to board dogs as a business. My vet told me that I should never trust someone like this again. Think twice about keeping your dog here.

Ever since 2019 my dog has been staying at BJs and typically adores it there. I even let a five star review several years ago. Upon his last stay late May 2024 he acted very different upon pick up. He was kenneled for roughly 4 days and once he saw familiar family faces he almost took the door down to get out. He had a bath (& usually typically does) the last day before pick up and I'm led to believe he had to lay in his own filth during his entire stay as he had his first ever UTI (he is 6). He peed in the truck on the way home, peed in the house around 6 more times back to back the same day and he has not EVER done that (not since he was a puppy potty training). I always opt to pay $5 daily for him to have a raised pet bed & the largest bedroom suite but I feel he was NOT given that considering he acquired a uti. He wasn't let out enough or he just laid there in filth. I felt in my gut as a doggy mommy (& mommy of twin tots) when he was picked up that he was mistreated while he was there and I will never bring him back. It's unfortunate we have to go this route with BJs but I can't risk it happening again. EDITED TO ADD: I did try to call BJs 3-4 times that day and even the next day for answers & nobody ever answered or called me back. In the past I usually would always get a return call from BJs from a nice girl and didn't even have to leave a voicemail for her to call me back. No longer the case. It seems this establishment is going downhill fast due to careless staff.

The next morning when I was able to contact the store, I was informed that they neglected to give the baby hamsters medicine for wet tail, a completely treatable disease. Half of the litter died because they had gotten relaxed with their hamster care. I was able to receive a refund, but nothing can erase the trauma of having to watch the poor little thing suffer and slowly die for hours.
