I really don't like writing negative reviews, however, this one is necessary. Only reason why I'm okay with even having a one star for this review is because the process to actually make an appointment for grooming services is fairly easy going. Little did I know that the actual grooming service itself would be nothing but a disappointment. I used to take my dog to get groomed at the Northridge location and never had an issue there. I currently moved and I am much closer to the Canoga location now. I read the reviews for this location and thought maybe to just give it a chance. I definitely should have listened to the reviews to NOT bring my dog here for grooming services. When I brought my dog in, everything seemed fine and even asked to specifically have the stylist (Johanna) focus on my dog's nails. The stylist mentioned she would make a note of that. I get a call 2 and a half hours later from Johanna and she lets me know that my dog is ready for pick-up, however, she wasn't able to trim his nails due to a cut that my dog had on his paw pad. I had made sure before dropping my dog off that there were no cuts on him because of the reviews I had read. I pick-up my dog and Johanna again stated she wasn't able to trim his nails because of the cut. I asked if he was cut during the process of getting groomed because he didn't have any cuts when I dropped him off. Which if it did happen, it wouldn't be such a big deal because accidents do happen, however, she denied cutting him during the process. Needless to say, she was dismissive and I will definitely NEVER bring my dog here again because of the bad grooming services. read more

Today was the final straw. When I picked up my Yorkie, his groomer, Maria A, was right there, but she ignored me and someone else got my dog for me. It took him awhile to find him. It wasn't until I got to the car that I noticed she had shaved him too closely on the spine. My dog also seemed extra down after this visit. I wish she had just owned up to it. His ears were also not cut straight. This is not the first time I've had an issue at this location. They are unprofessional and don't even seem like they like dogs so I don't know why they are in this profession. It's also not great that the dogs are kept for so long. On one occasion, my dog had pooped in the cage so the had to clean and dry him again. I won't put him through that again. read more

"We've canceled Lola's grooming appointment". This was the message I received the day before my appointment was scheduled. I had scheduled my dog a week prior. Mind you, the date chosen was per what they had available when I scheduled it. But, now they've decided to cancel my appointment because the groomer wasn't going to be in. I think this is unprofessional and it lacks consideration to the client. This is not the first time this happens. Seems like the groomers book themselves up and cancel on you last minute rather than accommodate you last minute. UNPROFESSIONAL!! If the services were cheap then I would have nothing to complain about. But they book you almost a week out, charge you$70 and cancel you out last minute. Pretty shady! read more

I recently brought my dog here and I was extremely disappointed with the service. He still had dirty spots on his coat, which is unacceptable. Even worse, he came back home anxious and stressed, which has never happened before coming back from the groomers. I booked 2 appointment for my 2 dogs online which I received emails confirmation for them then I received 2 separate check in text messages that I completed and sent it back to them. I showed up there and the groomer told me you don't have any appointment here because the person that you booked with she is on vacation!!!!!!?????? I have two rescues; one who suffers of anxiety. We have stayed with PetSmart hotel several times, and the more they have been staying, we have been seeing our youngest rescue be more open to people and playful. Appreciate the care they provide our elder and young rescue during their overnight stays. They also provide the meds to our dog, and have a la carte items that makes their stay lovely. Also when we have called, we are able to get info on their status. Will continue to utilize PetSmart as we know they are in safe hands. read more

This is a long overdue review. We've been going here for the past five years for pet essential, grooming needs, and boarding. A few weeks ago we received a call from our favourite groomer, Dionne, saying she was leaving to persue her degree in communications and wanted to thank us for the five years we have been going to her. Touched by the call, the first question we asked was 'are you available for one last appointment for our little one, to which she said, of course. Dionne has been an absolute delight and she is wonderful with our Lola...actually all the grooming staff are amazing. They all know right away who Lola is (still not sure if that's good or bad, but have been assured it's good) and she is so happy to see everyone...especially Dionne. Both Lola and I will miss Dionne's always happy and cheerful greeting and wish her the best! That being said I know the other staff members in the grooming salon as well as all the other departments at PetSmart will be just as happy to help and will always try to go out of their way to make our little one feel at home. Don't come here. They have the worst service, the most bitter employees- some of whom are unkempt, smell like cigarettes and most of whom do not know how to make small talk during a 10 min transaction (because they're so slow). Honestly, I don't understand what the hiring process is here- they don't seem to look for anyone with soft skills. Also, in the morning, they allow you to roam the store and collect your items and when you're done and ready for checking out- then and only then, after a 10 min search for any employee around the store- will they tell you that they're not even open yet. I'm writing this review while on hold. As usual the hold times are at least 15 minutes to speak with the hotel. I booked a stay for our two dogs online, wanted to book their day camp but online it would not work. I couldn't get through to anyone in the phone so I went to the store in person. They said that I did not have a reservation. Hmmmm? I booked it weeks ago just to make sure we were taken care of. If you book online, she said it's just a request and not a reservation. Good to know. They were all booked up for all size rooms by that point, so I was out of luck. This trip I went to try again and their suites were booked up so we would have our dogs share a kennel size spaces. (Booked weeks early). This time is asked for a confirmation and they were not able to give me one. Not feeling comfortable I found a dog sitter so now I need to cancel my reservation. I am now still on hold (16 minutes so far). I guess I'll have to drive there and wait 30 minutes in line to cancel. This is not the staff's fault, this is 100% bad business in corporate. The staff has been ok. Some better than others, some have no clue what is going on. Facility seems clean, but not much more I can say that is positive for this business. I usually buy my doggie pee pads at 99 cent store but they no longer carry them. I placed an order online and they were ready for pickup immediately! I called when I was outside and a cheerful Brittany answered and brought them out to my car. She was so pleasant on the phone and in person! Kudos to whoever hired her. This store has lots to choose from and it is very clean and has lots of free parking. Yes free parking is a big deal nowadays! Mary Elizabeth the manager in the boarding facility in this location was very rude when I try to explain to her that I was not that I was going to be charge an extended fee after 12pm and left me talking by myself and started to ignore me. That is not professional because she didnt want to listen. When they check you they bearly talk to you. They need to make sure to go over charges before pets leave and tell you about extended fees after 12pm pick up. I was only told that if my pet stayed anothe night it was going to be an extra charge not after 12pm. I've used PetSmart grooming services for many years. I want to share my TERRIBLE experience with the grooming service and managers so no one else has the same experience. I brought my dog in for grooming services last Wednesday. My dog (CJ) looked great when I picked him up, PetSmart dressed him up with a cute little scarf, he looked so handsome. Thursday, my CJ started acting different, you know your dog, so you know when something is not right. I took his little scarf off and noticed a large irritated rash under his chin, see attached pics. The groomer shaved too close to his skin which left a HUGE rash with some discoloration on Cj's neck. I called PetSmart on Friday to express my concern. I spoke with the grooming manager Mira. # 1. They questioned why I was just calling on Friday. I explained I didn't notice the bruise until Thursday because it was under his chin and notified PetSmart the following day. I was told I could call the Banfield Hospital onsite for an appt or contact my Vet to treat CJ. Banfield Hospital was booked and my local Vet was also book a week out. By Monday morning CJ was not doing well. He was in pain, not eating and had no energy. I took him to VCA Veterinary Specialist of the Valley because I was scared for him. They prescribed pain meds and provided a summary of his visit. The total charge was $206.70 for the consult as an emergency service. Thursday, January 28th. I took CJ back to PetSmart along with my receipts to request reimbursement and show them where he was bruised. They reimbursed me for the grooming service but would not reimburse me for the emergency visit stating they needed more information from VCA stating, VCA would need to state that the bruise was due to grooming service. I have never heard of such a thing. This is the second time that my dog has been injured during a grooming appointment. But this is the first time that they would not pay the Vet bill. PetSmart acknowledged responsibility by refunding me for the grooming services. I'm exhausted going back and forth with them on something that was clearly PetSmarts fault. I'm really disappointed with the way I was treated, I feel as though I'm not even valued as loyal customer. The managers that I spoke with @Mira, @ Carla Assistant Leader were not even apologetic, their responses were more scripted and not customer focused at all. This review is regarding the Pets Hotel at Petsmart. I've been taking my two dachshunds to the Pets Hotel for several years now. The main (and probably only) reason I switched to Pets Hotel from my previous kennel is that they are open weekends, while my previous kennel's office is open Saturdays until noon and closed Sunday, meaning that you have to wait until Monday at 9 am to pick up your dogs if you come home after noon Saturday or anytime Sunday. And that obviously costs more. The care my dogs received at Petsmart was decent to good. I never felt like it was excellent. One time one of my dogs came home with a limp and the staff said they didn't notice while she was there. She limped on her way out the door to go home, so it didn't start at home. My most recent visit was last week and I will not be returning. Upon arrival, I was told that they probably couldn't take one of my dogs because she is too old. I stated that yes, she is old, but she is in great health, goes to the vet twice a year and has a clean bill of health. Furthermore, they know how old she is and accepted the reservation! A manager was called and eventually came in and checked out my dog, cautiously saying she would allow the dog to stay. From that point on, though, they became very picky. It was clear they were looking for any excuse not to take my dogs. While I was signing the paperwork, they examined my other dog and asked about a slight bald spot on his back and asked about it. I said it had been there for years, including for his last few visits to Petsmart, and that the vet had examined him and had no problem with it. They told me they didn't like the way this spot looked and they would not accept him. Luckily I didn't have a flight to catch or I would have missed it! They offered me phone numbers of veterinarians who might accept the dogs for boarding, but I left without taking them as I was very angry. I won't be going back. Instead, I took them to my previous kennel (Hideaway Kennels in Chatsworth) who will be my permanent kennel from here on out. Going back there was like walking into a hug. The dogs were welcomed back warmly, and were much happier with outdoor play at various times throughout their stay. I used Pets Hotel here and doggy day care at a lot of Pet Smarts throughout California and even other states. For some reason, this one returned my dog bed to me soaked in urine. My dog has never peed on her stuff before so I asked what happened. They explain that they usually wash stuff before returning it and it must've not been washed by mistake. But they didn't explain why pee was on the bottom and the top. I tried this place one more time. Yet again, I received her dog bed with feces on it this time! She also smelled of urine, on her fur. So I don't know what is happening at this location. Are animals being neglected or do they just not mop? Service is very slow. They seemed short staffed. When I picked my dog up for day care at night, they forgot to feed my dog dinner and didn't do her scheduled grooming but charged me for it. They took care of that with a refund and I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Took 30 minutes to pick up my dog with the lines and limited people. read more

I go to pick my dog up and the line to pay is incredibly long so my poor pup is stuck stressed and waiting for me to pay. When I finish paying, I had to wait EVEN LONGER for them to bring me my dog. Eventually I went to grab him myself, and when I saw him HIS BUTT AND PAWS WERE NOT TRIMMED. All these lazy employees did was give him a bath and dry him, nothing else. I decided to forget about it and move on. A few days later I find out THEY DIDNT EVEN EXPRESS HIS ANAL GLANDS. I paid for services I wasn't even given. SUCH A WASTE OF MONEY. I've brought my Chiweenie Duke to this Petsmart location twice now for a "Brush and Bath" package and each time the experience has been alright, but a couple of questionable things have come up that might make me think twice about returning ever again. On this go-around, when I arrived, the curb-side pick-up situation was completely unorganized and chaotic. Customers didn't know where to go, who was next, what employee was available...it was a complete mess. Joceline was my groomer and she was nice and all, but very robotic and not personable at all. Joceline rushed me through the signing of the paperwork and the initial inspection of my dog that is supposed to happen when you drop your pet off never was mentioned and never happened. She asked me to remove his collar (which I was not asked to do the previous time I brought him in, so it made me kinda uncomfortable doing this) and his harness so she could put this red leash around his neck to take him inside (also didn't happen the first time I brought him in and made me feel not too keen about leaving him there). I asked Joceline how long the appointment would take and she advised me 3-4 hours, yet my dog was ready 1.5 hours later. And, when I came to pick-up Duke he was just handed off to me....that's it. I didn't get a "Pawgress Report" as I did before about how the appointment went and when she saw me while bringing out another dog to its owner, she asked if I had paid yet and I said I hadn't. She advised me to get into this extremely long line of customers to pay for his appointment or go online and pay through the app. Since there was 1 employee and 10 customers waiting to check out, I chose to pay on the app. It was a process because I had to add my credit card and all that, but had I been advised that I could pay in advance by Joceline when I dropped him off, then I would have had the appointment paid in full before I got there to pick him up. When she came back out with Duke, she did not ask for proof of payment or anything, she just took the red leash off around his neck and went to go get the next pet to bring in. My dog is basically my child, so when he is treated like a number and the customer service is bleak, it kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth about the business. And if you offer certain services online and through the marketing campaigns you send in your emails, you should provide those services or advised the customer you cannot provide them and the reason why. All in all, I was not too impressed the 2nd time around and most likely will look for either another PetSmart grooming location near me or another business altogether. Based on the Yelp reviews for the surrounding PetSmart's though, it looks like I will be looking for another grooming business altogether. read more

Moving to Woodland Hills we were very excited to hear that Pet Smart was so close to us and was able to take in our baby Odin. My fiancé and I work full time jobs, and instead of having Odin stay home alone we thought day care would be a great relief. I would really like to give them a 5 star review because everyone is friendly and whenever I walk in they greet us with happy smiles and Odin absolutely loves them all. But the 1 star review is for their admin procedures and for making it an inconvenience not once but twice by sending me home because someone didn't update his pet records in their system. I was late to work, and the more upsetting part is that we handed them to someone and they made copies. I'm afraid to go back again and get sent home again for a third time. Petsmart (Woodland Hills,CA) so-called groomer named Martha injured my 11 month puppy. She clipped his scrotum and he's in a lot of pain. She gave him a buzz cut very close to his skin. His stomach, legs, and parts of his body are red. She didn't bring it to my attention, I discovered it at home when I noticed my pup appeared to be in pain. My pup is depressed, lays down all day and I concerned it might affect him in the long run. Though, Petsmart refunded my money and had a Vet treat my pup, they're responsible for hiring a butcher instead of a groomer. Please be wary about taking your pet here. If you do, don't let Martha touch your pet. She shouldn't be allowed to go anywhere near anyones pets, but, I doubt Petsmart will do anything to her. I left my dog for 2 and a half days and they never took him for a walk (I pay 2 play times) and when I picked him up he was covered in poop!! They had told me they were cleaning him one I picked him up That's why o had to wait for 30 minutes outside (LIE) worse than that I went home and he can barely walk, once I took a look I realized that his paws were swollen, red and bleeding, his testicles were with a scar and his anal was swollen, red and with a big inflammation. I spent all night at the hospital with him and he is under so much pain that I had to share this because is killing me! I spent 95 dollars at the hotel and 300 dollars in hospital and medication. Regarding the Victory store in Canoga Park- November 15th: This is what happened to my wife. You should be ashamed of yourselves. DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR PET IN DOGGY DAY (Prison) CAMP! Today November 15 I left my dog in Pet Smart like I have been doing more than a year now. To my surprise when I came to pick her up around 3pm (she was there for 7 hours) The guy at the register in the hotel section told me that because they were under staffed today all the large dogs were in cages... from morning time! They didn't have time to call all the parents to tell them to come and pick them up and that he apologizes. It wasn't his fault- it was the fault of the morning person who was too preoccupied with doing G-D knows what than to call a few people to tell them to come and pick up their dogs. My dog is a large almost 100 lbs dog which sat in a cage for 7 hours! If I would have known I would never ever trust PetSmart to do "Doggy Prison Camp" for my dog. I don't know how many times this happened the last year but now I understand some behavioral issues my dog has. I beg you- DO NOT PUT YOUR DOG HERE! They will have physical and emotional abuse- not being able to move for 7 hours is physical abuse from a place that suppose to give entertainment for your pet. Hearing other dogs, smelling them and not being able to go out is emotional abuse and I already see that today was too much and I will be seeking professional help for the stress she's under. We bought about $100 worth of pet food and one litter bag and thought we could use our 20 % off coupon for one of the items, but it wasn't honored as it was already expired. The cat litter is advertised on Petsmart website for $17.99 and when it rang up as $19.99 we told cashier that it was advertised for $17.99 and that that's what it is at the Westlake Village Petsmart as well. We were told that here it's $19.99. When we got home we found it online for $17.99. Dud the cashier think we were going to drive back to get the discount??? Not consumer friendly. Betta Fish need love too! I went into Petsmart on Sunday looking for a betta fish for my work and I was shocked to see how neglected they all were. Most of them looked like they were dying and I can't imagine how long it had been since perhaps they were fed or their water was changed it was really sad to see. When I mentioned this to employees they said "oh they had a call out and that's why it looks like that. " But to be honest it looked like they were neglected more than just one day. I took my puppy to the 6 week obedience training class with Jennifer. The other dogs in the class were so distracting, non stop barking and made it impossible for my dog to get anything out of a class. Jennifer, the trainer, was so understanding and offered to give us private trainings since I had prepaid for two different training class packages. Jennifer was very patient with my dog and made me feel so confident with her great progress. In the time we spent with training my dog leaned to spin, lay down and give kisses. Short Staffed but we're still were very friendly and carried one out okof the special prescription foods my dog needed from the back. I didn't know if she would like it (Royal Canine Hydrogenized Protein) because she is SOOO PICKY!! It turned that she liked it more than the Purima Pro Prescription diet I was feeding her at first but it made her coat and breath smell weird. I'll go back to Purina. Whatdo ya know..?? Grooming - Avoid Anna at all costs. She shaved the snout of my terrier even after me explicitly stating and having it in my file to not do so. This is the third time it has happened. She claimed it was too matted, yet all the other groomers manage properly trim the snout. Minimally she could make a phone call. Use any of the other groomers as they do a good job. I've been avoiding leaving this review but I'm hoping that my experience will help the next person avoid this place. This location has a pet hotel, a vet, and a grooming salon all in house and every last service they offer is TERRIBLE AND TRAUMATIZING for your pet. My pet was badly abused at the vet here. As a puppy, during his visit, he was left in his own feces and pee for hours on end with no regard or concern for his well-being. A few months later he experienced abuse and neglect at the pet hotel. I had to go out of town for just short of 2 weeks, my poor doodle was underfed, neglected, unsupervised (he had cotton from the bedding that they provide in his feces for days following his return) and when he was returned to us he had chunks of his hair knotted and so tangled that the groomer had to completely shave him bare. His beautiful, fluffy, golden locks completely cut off. Following this horrible experience, my partner and I decided to give him a break from going to that PetSmart so that he could get his nerves back. Now, as you can see I've had to discontinue every service they offer expect for grooming at this point. So on to grooming, ever since he was a little puppy he has been going to the same groomer at this locations grooming salon and she was a peach however, she decided to move on to bigger and better things. I recently brought my pet in after his last traumatizing event (being shaved bare because of their pet hotel), and that groomer was no longer there so I had to book with someone else. Since my last visit (literally less than 2 months ago) they have now decided to inflate the rates that they have already been providing me for over 6 months, and claim that the previous groomer was now the one at fault and was giving me "discounts"/ "not charging me for what I was receiving" And of course she is not around now to defend herself, so who better to put the blame on. I did my own research into their rates and seen that they were overcharging me based off of the services I was receiving. When I presented my confusion to them I continued to get unconvincing answers and because of a lack of time I just paid the total and told myself no more. I've already stopped him from going to the vet here, following that I had to stop him from boarding at the pet hotel, now the grooming salon is also out! If you don't take anything else from this review , please just heed my advice. Only buy the pet products here at this location, food, toys, beds, etc. The additional services are only going to traumatize your pet and you are going to be left picking up the pieces. read more
