These guys had a special deal on the dog biscuits we purchase for friends' dogs, they only have these Xmas holidays. The biscuits are oatmeal/spiced, and the pups really like these. It feels good to give a good treat to the dogs we know and something that is good for them also. This location has a few minor issues inside location, like dirty floors and dog waste on the floors in many spots. I know the owners should be responsible for their dogs' actions, and pick-up any waste they leave behind. read more

Disappointed with one of the groomers that was rude and unfriendly - Marianna. She didn't greet me and was very short with me when checking my dog in. She just seemed very irritated to have to help me. She's just not a nice person. Another reviewer mentioned a problem with her too. She was friendlier to my dog than she was to me! I was taken aback because the other groomers are very friendly at this location and I've never had any issues. If you come here request any other groomer besides Marianna. Worms (red wrigglers) are very thin and sometimes I find mold on the bottom. I can't feed my babies those. Cashier jumping was annoying and three families went ahead of me because all of a sudden my lane was suspended due to someone in front of me and when they opened the next cash register, they took the people behind me. Happened one more time when a third cash register finally opened. My lane never opened up and I was forced to go to the back of a different lane. Really not happy with that. We take our wheaten terrier to Jesse, he's an excellent groomer and hot tip he does dog shows and has won multiple awards! We drive 30 minutes to see him because he's worth it. An employee came up to me and kicked me out for training while shopping for treats. He was very rude about the situation. I recently had visited the Petsmart Salon location here... And boy was it hott in the room that you check your animals into - not to mention the folks working specifically in the salon weren't too friendly... Except for Ricky. I believe he's new, because he was asking the individual questions that were on the sheet I needed to sign versus just combining all the questions into one and then just having me sign. I get it that my dog is excited to be out in public and can be wiggly sometimes... But there's got to be a way to streamline the check-in processes. I'd suggest to take a look at what the company Hair Cuttery has done; they allow you to check in prior to getting to the salon and once you get there - just simply sit and wait. (So Petsmart Ops/Tech Teams...maybe look into this and how something like that could be implanted into your company). **Also... Crank up that air conditioning in that room, from frustrations with the employees who are hott headed to the dogs/cats breathing... It can't be safe to be as warm as it was in there. read more

My review is on the grooming salon. I've taken my dogs here for grooming and generally its been okay. However I have to note that Marianna was not a very nice and I got the feeling that she was not dog friendly. This was the first time I got feedback that one of my dogs tried to bite her as she tried to get it out of the crate even though I mentioned to her, when I dropped off my dog, that my dog gets a bit jittery. I had the feeling she was not careful with my dogs. I also told her what kind of cut I wanted for my dogs when I dropped them off and that was totally disregarded. For the amount of money they charge here for grooming services, I would rather take them to another place where I'll be listen to and know my dogs will be well taken care of. read more

I took my dog to the groomer, and she came back sick and still vomits everyday. I don't know what they are doing in there but I am LIVID. She has multiple large scab wounds inside her ear with a large gash from what I believe is clippers. I've got to say, it's a chain. They're a corporation. All of their stores are basically the same. So reviewing places like this aren't really a big deal. If you want quality pet accessory experience, then go to the Oak Park Natural Fish and Pet store in Oak Park. Otherwise, just gotta suck it up and come here. It's decent. Decent selection of things. Employees don't seem too bad. I would never get fish from here again though. All of the fish I buy from here die within a month. They're always sickly fish. From day one with my two adopted cats from their Shelter Drive, they have had the friendliest staff I can only compare with generations long ago. They have that old world mentality where the customer comes first, take extra time to get you the best deal, and make your money worth every penny. I brought my dog to grooming salon for a bath. For starters, he was literally done in less than 30 minutes, which seems way too quick. When he got home, he smelled the same as when he left. I had purchased the $20.00 coupon book, Because there was supposedly a coupon in it for a free or reduced price on a bath. When I asked the girl in the salon to help me find it, she refused and said "those books change all the time". I was not given the report that they are supposed to issue at pick up that summarizes services and how your dog did with his services. Again, when I asked about this at the check out desk, the clerk stated "sometimes they give those". I paid and left, and wouldn't have complained, however, it gets better! The next morning, my cell phone rang at 7:20 AM! It was the grooming salon. The girl who called actually accused me of leaving without paying for my dog's bath!! I told her I absolutely had paid, and I had the receipt, and she said at that point, she would check with the manager, but to "hold on to my receipt". I'm sorry, but do you call a customer at 7:20 AM, and accuse them of stealing basically, BEFORE you have checked with your manager?! When I called the manager to complain, he said he would immediately speak to the person who had called. He never did and they never called to apologize. Really bad experience. read more

So unhappy with the grooming salon here. I have taken my puppy to petsmart in Geneva several times and have been nothing but thrilled with them, so I decided to try this location despite the negative reviews since it is 10mins from my house. I arrived to find the salon completely empty but the floor was still covered in dog hair. In Geneva they always have dogs on every table but the hair is a bare minimum on the floor......so why can't this location be hair free when there are no dogs. Not a deal break but definitely something I noticed. The other thing that made me a little worried was the lady that checked us in mentioned several times that she remembered when he was so much smaller.....we've never been there so that felt completely phony and off putting . 3 hours after I dropped my pup off I called to check on him and she said he was just getting done.....the place was empty why did it take 3 hours to give him a bath!!! When I picked him up he was still wet and still had dirty spots on him. He also wasn't nearly as fluffy as he normally gets. I was so annoyed I just paid and left. I won't be back and will drive an hour to Geneva where I feel he is being taken care of and I'm getting what I paid for. read more

Comment = I always take my dog to pet smart to get my dog cleaned. This is the second time I have taken my dog and I've had a problem. The first time something had to be done too my dog where he had the runs, and was shaking when I picked him up. This time I had to bring him to get shampoo because he got sprayed by an skunk I did just one home remedy just to clean his face off then dropped him off to be cleaned. I informed the employer that he had been sprayed but she stated to me that it was some special shampoo that could get the smell off of him. I payed the extra $21 for nothing just so he can smell the same way. I came home gave him an tomatoes soak and oatmeal bath just to get rid of the smell. They claim that they didn't have the correct number to for me to even pick him up and it was in the system correctly. I'm not sure why I have been to two locations and have had bad service. read more

This Petsmart is HORRIBLE! I volunteered with AWL there since they host cats for adoption, and the employees could care less about helping out with the cats - why do you work there again??? When we couldn't make it in to clean the cages, the employees threw a FIT about having to "help," when in actuality, it is their job to clean the cages so the AWL volunteers can come in and socialize the cats and attract adoptive parents for them. We spent all our time cleaning the cages and never had much time to get the cats out and about. Never trust a pet store that hires people who don't care about pets. read more

My dog needed to be groomed badly and I asked my mom to take him closest to her house. He smelled so fresh and cleaned but when he got home he was so drowsy and tired that my mom and I was concerned that it seemed he had been drugged. My mom called to ask if he was given anything and they said We would never give a dog anything just to get him cleaned and nails cut. I was not convinced. He slept ALL day which is unusual for my dog. They also cut his nails so short that he was in pain the next day that he scratched at my mothers furniture and he never has done that before. I have a lot of rescued pets and I am always trying to price match, and they don't have a problem with that. We adopted our first cat Chelsea from the AWL in august, and it became immediately obvious that she was not meant to be an only pet. We searched craigslist for other places we could find AWL pets, and petsmart in Broadview had a good selection. We brought Chelsea with to see if she got along with another cat. Rachel was the cashier when we walked in, and she said she was also the one who dealt with the adoptions. It seemed kind of odd at first but soon became clear, Rachel was amazing with the animals! She picked up a few cats and brought them in a room with Chelsea, even when she was being paged to other areas of the store! She came right back and gave her advice, "Chelsea is definitely the alpha, but this cat is handling her very well..." etc. She called an hour after we left to let me know we were approved! I can only imagine how busy she must be, they probably want her in every department all the time! The next day we returned to pick up Chelsea's sister, Charlotte. The lady that handled Charlotte the next day was OK with the animals, but nowhere near the cat-whisperer Rachel was. Petsmart, you have found a true gem! read more

The first time I took my dog here in knew he was in good hands because I knew the girl that took care of him. It took an hour to give him a bath, dry him, brush him, and trim his nails. This second time was awful I had a 1:30pm appt. I went in at 3 because I hadn't gotten a phone call and was worried. They told me they needed another 45 min I ended up getting him at 4pm! my dog was running to get out of there. His nails were too short and he slept all day and drank a lot of water, poor puppy was exhasted. DO NOT go! the don't seem to care about the pets. read more

I really enjoyed my experience in this store. When shopping I was stopped several times by employees and asked if I need help, which I always did. I'd just bought a new puppy and was so lost but the staff was very friendly and this really cute little lady helped me sign my dog up for a six week training class and even offered me a coupon to make the class more affordable when I told her it was outside of my budget. She also gave me a lot of really good pointers. I came back for my dog's first lesson and absolutely loved the teacher Ignacio. He had so many great tips and was very knowledgeable. You could tell that he really enjoyed his job and really cares about the development of his "students" and their relationships with their owners. I will definitely be back! read more

We've taken our dog Happy, a Boxer/Rottweiller mix, here twice for grooming and both times were very dissapointed. The first time was just after we got him from the shelter, we were getting our dog bathed. We were told it would take 3 hours! When we arrived 3 hours later, we were told it would be another 15 minutes until he was done. Having now washed my dog myself, I know that it can be done in an hour. When he was finished, he looked petrified. It wasn't until we got him home that we noticed he still smelled bad and still had poo matted in his fur from the shelter. We ended up washing him again ourselves. The second time we went, I only wanted his nails trimmed. I called ahead and was told that a nail trim was a walk in procedure. After waiting 15 minutes Happy was taken in for his trim. Less than 5 minutes later, I was called back. They refused to trim his nails because he wouldn't jump onto their table and he peed when trying to get him up there. I've trained my dog not to jump onto furniture so its no wonder he didn't want to. One of the groomers stated that we should bring him in more often so he gets used to the procedure. I don't see how that would help when he gets turned away. Happy is not a small dog an 90+ lbs, but a groomer should be able to handle a larger breed dog. I have no fault with the rest of the store as they have a good selection and decent prices. They also have some good sales on dog toys so we still shop there. It's a shame that their gorrmers are incapable of grooming larger breeds. We now use a self serve dog wash place or our backyard and hose now that it's warm. Hopefully his vet office will have an easier time with his nails. read more

This is the worst Groomer (STEPHANIE) I have ever had. I had an appointment for my dog to be groomed @ 2:30 pm. I arrived a few minutes early. After 2-1/2 hours, I noticed that there was only (2) Groomers that were grooming. I asked were the other person was and was told she is sweeping the floors. While you have a customer waiting!!! She had told me that my dog had been bathed and only needs her hair cut. I asked for the manager and told him to retrieve my dog after 2-1/2 hours. When he brought the dog out she had NOT been bathed. STEPHANIE is such a LIAR!!! And what a nasty attitude she had. This appointment was on June 17, 2020. NEVER USE STEPHANIE. She is NOT a good Groomer. I guess I should be grateful because I watched her groom (2) other dogs and they were both aggressive and both owners said they never acted like that before when groomed. I really don't have any complaints about this store. I bring my dogs to Petsmart to get groomed about once a month and they always seem to do a good job and I don't worry about my pets' safety. My dogs are usually pretty dirty and they get them sparkling clean. The grooming department usually has openings on short notice and their base grooming prices are reasonable. What a caring place. My dog got loose recently and made her way to the Petsmart parking lot ... running loose. The cashier spotted her and announced that there was a runner outside. With his help and the dedicated help of their trainer at the store, who spent over an hour trying to catch my puppy throughout the parking lot, my pup is now safe at home. Take my dogs here for a variety of services. Sometimes they are done quickly and sometimes it takes a bit longer. Why? Probably has to do with whether it's a weekend/holiday. I do know that no groomer can get two decent grooms done by themselves in TWO HOURS. My sister is a groomer in another state. So the lady who says she was told that must have misheard. My dogs have seen pretty much every groomer there and I've been happy with everyone. Caitlyn and Sam have bathed my lab several times and I haven't had any issues. Tatyana and even Maryana(who people have singled out here)have groomed my Bella. Love them both. Very friendly and professional. Even seen the so-called "not dog friendly" groomer hugging and kissing a few dogs-including my Bella.I would assume that if you take your "jittery" dog to a groomer that you would want that groomer to tell you the truth about your dogs behavior and not blast her for being honest. My Bella can be a pain sometimes and I want the truth about her actions! As for the place being dirty: THEY GIVE DOGS HAIRCUTS THERE! You don't know what was going on before you arrived so stop being so nit-picky. I'm an old lady and I'm not that judgmental. I have spent a lot of $$$ over the years at this store. Today they lost a customer. I wanted to order a large amount of cat food (not enough in store). Was told that if I wanted to do that with free shipping, I'd have to come into the store to do that. A bit of a drive for me and I caught a train, but I did it. A different clerk (than the one on the phone) took care of me. I purchase a little bit of cat food (paid for it), and then she was going to sign me up for the cat food order. Another customer got in line behind me. The clerk asked her to go to a different line because she would be with me for a little while. She did not. The customer engaged the clerk in a conversation as to what the best dog toy was. After the conversation, for some reason, the clerk decided to take the customer before me. The customer gave the clerk 4 different phone numbers (for a discount) none of which worked. No problem. The clerk decided she would just sign up this customer all over again. I am waiting and waiting and waiting... Finally I told the clerk that I would forget about placing that order. She was relieved (it must seem like a lot of trouble for the clerk - so why have that system?) I drove all the way out there essentially for nothing. Can't imagine why she would take another customer (with a return) BEHIND me first. I'm sure it will never happen again though. Because I won't be back there. I've found it's a lot easier, quicker AND cheaper to just order pet food online from places like chewy.org. read more
