This review is for the grooming salon only. Two months ago I adopted a new shelter puppy. I have had approximately 20 years experience raising dogs and my last dog went to Petsmart grooming (in california) her entire 10 year life...never had a problem until now. My pup is a 5 month old, very sweet black lab. She is incredibly well behaved and smart (knows sit, lie down, shake, play dead, roll over, ring bell for outside, etc). I have bathed her at home ever since I had her about once every 3 weeks to a month depending on how dirty she was. I kept up with maintenance in between baths by giving her those spritz of doggie sprays. At home, I use the defurminator shampoo without issue. When I picked her up today for a furminator package, she was excited to see me but I always make sure she sits or lies down before I say hello to discourage jumping. Good thing I did....she had scratches all over her belly. I pointed it out to the technician and she called a manager? Or supervisor? The manager/supervisor immediately said to me, "I don't know how she would have done this to herself. Maybe it's a reaction to the shampoo." I stated I had been using that shampoo for 2 months without problem she again said, "well, I don't know how she did it to herself." These scratches could NOT have come from her claws....they either came from the groomer/grooming technique or instruments OR from not being properly supervised while in the back unattended (they leave the dogs in cages sometimes before and after grooms). These are very straight, linear scratches....and long. They are red and raw (new). I was not offered a discount or money back. I was told if I went to a vet, to inform them. This is nonsense. These ladies have no idea what happened and tried to blame it on my puppy. It looks like I'm not the only reviewer who has had problems with this salon. I encourage others to go elsewhere...this particular location is not equipped to adequately groom a pet and take responsibility if something happens. I DO NOT RECOMMEND AND WILL NOT BE RETURNING. I may file grievance with corporate if the scratches get worse. See attached photos. The scratch above the blue line is the longest scratch and obviously very linear.

An amazing Scottish Terrier in a pattern!

I love this salon! Everyone in the salon area is so nice and friendly. They are hosting a grooming school there this month where you get 25% off haircuts for students learning. They are slower but do a great job!

$9.50, has our info on the back. So cute!

The convenient Wheaton location of the facility is great for daycare and they also allow for half-day daycare too. Very flexible scheduling. When I pick my dog up, I can tell that she's received personalized attention from the staff and that she has been well cared for. Often she's been able to work one-on-one with a staff member for nearly all of her half-day session. We also attend the group classes which are incredibly unique and let my dog build up practice interacting with other dogs in a way that reinforce new, good behaviors. My neighbors are thrilled with the progress almost as much as I am - my dog no longer automatically barks at everyone outside now and is able to make new friends. The in home training we did originally was incredibly valuable to get us started on the right foot. We need to do that again very soon! Is it the least expensive daycare and/or training in the area? No. But it is ABSOLUTELY worth it. When I leave my dog in the care of The Canine's Voice I know that she's going to be safe, loved, and will learn a few things while she's there. The classes are incredibly valuable too. The results speak for themselves.

She had plenty of tips and techniques and it was nice having her visit the home for the sessions to see how he is in that environment. After several mixed purpose sessions I feel like we're on the path to success, maybe. We hope .
