We came to PetSmart excited to let our kids pick out their very first pet, a betta fish! What should have been a fun, happy family experience ended up being completely overshadowed by one employee. The bald woman with glasses in the fish department immediately started aggressively quizzing/questioning us about betta fish care. We understand that pet owners should be educated and go to good homes but there's a huge difference between being helpful and making customers feel like they're being interrogated. At one point I finally had to tell her, "We're not crazy fish experts we're just looking for a pet." She kept throwing out facts and asking questions, and because I didn't know something like "their stomach is the size of their eyeball," she became even more confrontational. We weren't refusing to care for the fish we simply just didn't know every single "fun fact" that she kept firing off becoming increasingly confrontational. The most upsetting part was that our kids were standing there watching the whole interaction. We were trying to create a happy memory of them getting their first pet, and instead the experience became uncomfortable and stressful from beginning to end. Unfortunately, it didn't even end there because after we left the fish area, she continued hounding us while we were checking out, despite not even being the cashier helping us. By the time we were done, the register was out of receipt paper, but honestly we didn't even care enough to wait for one because we just wanted to get the F out of the store (we won't be returning anyway). We were worried our kids were going to leave upset because of how hostile the interaction had become, thankfully though our kids are thrilled with their new fish and that's what matters most. I just hope management addresses the way this employee interacts with customers. If this is how she treats everyone, she'd probably be better suited for a position that doesn't involve customer interaction because what she was doing was WAY too much and very intense especially for small children. We absolutely support educating new pet owners, but customer service should be respectful and encouraging, not intimidating. read more

Wow. I brought my pup to get his nails trimmed and I was incorrectly asked to pay for a "unpaid" grooming visit from August 2024. The will not let you get your dog until you show your receipt for payment. So not sure how they think that it was correct. Also, I have taken my dog here for grooming 3 times since the alleged non payment and no one asked me for any outstanding balance. The manager, Evelyn was unwilling to my to assist me. She told me I owed $62 for the visit 8 months ago. Not only did I pay, but I ALWAYS tip the staff generously. PetSmart either hired inept staff or they learn it from your inept managers. I always prefer this location due to the fact that they always have a cat groomer available. Not all PetSmart locations have a cat groomer but this one seems to always have one. I get great customer service from Nancy and Lauren. On one occasion I was purchasing flea and tick medicine for my cat and I casually mention to the worker helping me (turns out she was the manager on duty) that I had several cats and needed to stay on my 'cat budget'. She gave me some great suggestions and even informed me that they do 'price match' on certain medications, so if you find the same item online on their website or another competitor they will match the price at the register! In terms of how their pet hotel is or how their doggy daycare goes I can't speak on that since I dont have a doggy. The store is clean and well laid out and never seems like it is a clutter. I do love some of the items I have found there, coffee mugs that say 'cat lady for life' and some bumper stickers! Not much to say other than that but I would go back for sure. read more

I took my dog to this salon for a badly needed nail trim yesterday. He has been there a couple times prior with no issues. When he was taken in for his appointment, they refused the service and canceled his appointment. He had an allergy when he was about 4 years old. It caused him to lose a lot of his hair. Some has grown back but not all. He has been tested for any possible skin disease and $400 later he was negative! They called the vet who did the tests and for some reason they said they had no record of the tests. My poor elderly HEALTHY dog needs a nail trim and can't get it. I personally have not had any issues with this location. I lived in Arlington for over 20 years, and this location is always the main Petsmart I would come to. Like any Petsmart locations, I love their very wide variety of toys, leashes, dog clothes, and treats. Petsmart is typically my go to for things like that... I have been bringing my dogs here specifically for grooming since about 2013; however, I will say that in the last 4 to 6 months, their grooming department must have changed. My dog is beginning to show a LOT more stress after I pick him up from grooming. Like to the point that the moment he comes out, he is bolting towards me and rushing the groomer out. He didn't used to display this much anxiety when I dropped him off. So I am unsure what all goes on back there while they put dogs in their kennel rooms in between grooms, but my dog isn't liking it.... In terms of actual grooming, they have never messed my dog up or anything. He is a Golden Retriever, and his fur always looks beautiful and well brushed after I pick him up. I have never requested a cut of anything like that... so I don't know. But, in regards to him being bathed and shampooed, and having his nails trimmed, everything is well done every time! Total review in my eyes is about 4 or 4.5 stars for now. read more

Didn't realize until I got home and opened one of the tins that it was the wrong one because the labels are the same color. Came back to the store the next day to exchange. Manager refused to refund me for the tin I opened because I didn't bring it back even though it was their mistake. I said are you serious? She just stares at me and goes "YUP."On top of that I drove 20 minutes out of the way to this specific location because it showed they had the flavor I needed in large quantity in stock when my local one didn't. 40 minutes worth of gas, two days in a row and had to pay for the stores own mistake. I am new to this area and was looking to find a groomer to bathe my dog. The one I thought I would like didn't have any openings, so I called PetSmart and they were able to fit me in. My "not-so-positive" review is for the groomers. I bring my dog in for his appointment, they let me know the bath comes with a nail trim, so I accept it. I get a call almost 3 hours later (standard time for the groomers at PetSmart), and I make my way over to pick up my dog. When I get there they say they will need to get him, so I go pay and then return to the back for pick-up. When I get my dog, his ears still feel/look wet and so does the top of his back. The girl states, "we sprayed him with our CHI spray." I didn't mind, but I thought using that line was an upgrade you had to pay for, nonetheless, my pup looks fine and I leave the store. WHEN I RETURN HOME I notice that there are red drippings on the tile. I try to inspect it, not knowing it was blood, then I look at my dog and he's bleeding in between his paws and it's getting all over; tile and carpet. As soon as I realized what it was, I IMMEDIATELY called PetSmart to tell them how I felt. The lady on the phone states, "sometimes dogs get cut while getting their nails trimmed and we stopped the bleeding here, but you can come back and we can stop it again." Now, why TF would I drive all the way back there to stop the bleeding from something I WAS NOT informed was bleeding in the first place!? I advised her and her team that they need to let people know they clipped their animals when they go to pick them up, as opposed to it being a surprise. I also let them know I would be leaving this review. The ladies were kind when I dropped off my dog and even when I picked him up. I am sure that they might do a decent job of grooming pets, but not this time. What's worse is that my dog wasn't even groomed, it was just a bath. Had PetSmart had let me known upon pickup that my dog had been bleeding, I probably would be leaving a better review. But at this time, I am more so annoyed I had to wait to see the blood on my tile and carpet to find out what had been done. Oh, I also didn't want to pick up a semi-wet dog. Dry his ears and the top of his back before I arrive, or don't call me telling me that my dog is ready. Lastly, the store is clean and looked pretty organized. I could easily find my pets food, and when I asked a question to the associate they were pretty helpful. The store gets 3 stars and the groomer gets 1 star. read more

My family and I have been leaving our dog at petsmart Petshotel for year now. We dropped off our dog there for Thanksgiving day because we had family who was allergic to dogs coming to visit. He was there the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to the following Friday and I was told he was going to get lots of play time and be well taken care of. When I picked him up he was wheezing for air. I went back and asked the staff what was going on and if he got hurt. They replied "yes that is weird" so I made an appointment with banfield to get him checked the next morning. He had cried and screamed so much inside of the kennel he was put in, he lost his voice. I understand pets getting upset when they are left by their owner but this wasn't our first time putting him in the care of Petsmart pets hotel. He came home and just slept for a full day, drank water and ate food as if he was starved and after that day of rest his voice slowly came back. To think you spend over $140 for your dog to be somewhere safe but in return get a dog who is traumatized. Never again... read more

I paid $88 to have my cat shaved. She is a Maine Coon and gets shaved about every 6 months because she can get matted underneath her chest. There weren't that many mats, but somehow the groomer managed to miss them. Now I'm home with a cat who is naked across the back and hips and all the places cats don't get matted... Which is fine... But I have to pay another groomer another $100 because I have to take her back to remove the mats that are still there. Ridiculous. read more

Very disappointed with the Arlington Highlands (TX) grooming salon. Took my persian cat to a grooming session with Meghan which was scheduled for 7am. They took my cat out of the carrier and commented on how sweet and cuddly she is. To my utmost surprise, 15 minutes later, the groomer told me that they couldn't groom my cat since she wasn't quiet. They actually butchered my cat's fur and was going to send her home just like that until I complained, then they asked me if I could wait on Meghan since she was more experienced with cats. Meghan arrived with quite an attitude and told me that was the best they could do and I needed to take my cat to a vet and get her sedated and ask the vet to groom her. I told her that we have 4 cats and they have always groomed them properly, her answer was "there is a first time for everything". I normally spend around $280 per week at Petsmart among toys, scratchposts, cat litter, food etc., we also used to board 4 cats as well with Petsmart, now that won't be happening. I will be taking my cat to Crossroads Animal Clinic to be groomed since Petsmart did a horrendous work. Needless to mention that I will be taking my cats and my business elsewhere from now on. My husband picked our English Bulldog up from the Arlington Highlands location and his bottom and scrotum are raw from him sitting in feces and/or urine for an extended period of time. He smelled awful and we had to immediately give him a bath upon entering our home! He was only there for a 72 hr stay and I am beyond angry! This was only the second time that we boarded him; the first time was at this location and we had a great experience. Unfortunately all it take is one time for my husband and he is done. After I got my dog back, I was like "Omg, it's terrible" His hair wasn't even at all. It's not like I'm a picky person. So I went back in and asked if she could even them up. Grooming - My cat and I had a terrible experience. We checked in at her appt time and I told the tech this was her first time so she might be nervous. The tech told me it would be about an hour to an hour & a half, so I shopped for about 35 min, then returned to the grooming area to find that she was still in her crate. I walked inside to check on her & they said "she's fine. We're about to get started." 15 minutes later she was still in her crate, so I asked if I could take her to the waiting area until they were ready for her. They said fine. At 11:55, a full 55 minutes after her scheduled appt, I took her back in. Another customer asked me about my wait, and I said we were scheduled at 11. Another groomer rudely said "ma'am, just so you know, Bree was overbooked today." I apologized for being an inconvenience and we left. If the groomer was overbooked, I should have been given the option to stay with my cat in the waiting area rather than making her sit in her crate, confused & terrified with all the barking dogs around her. So much disrespect for both of us. If you work with animals, you should care about their well being. read more

The only negative thing is that the prices are significantly higher than on amazon. However, the convenience factor outweighs the cost difference. My dogs appointment was set for an 8am appointment got a call about an incident that happened at 8:45 that they "accidentally"clipped the tip of his tail. Telling me only half the story , he was taken to the hospital only to be seen by the vet an hour later. Offering to pay nothing for there horrible service,and them to questioning if they should pay the vet bill .!!.He was sent home with a cone of shame,hair NOT completely fixed and a bloody tail end, and no apology. Let me start by saying I'd give 0 stars if an option. I have used their groomers several times. My dog always came home with a decent groom. This last time however, I received a call telling me my dog was unconscious & taken to the vet. I rushed up there to find out my dog had been strangled by the loop they use on their neck. My baby, Daisy, has always been an easy groom, but this time she was left unattended long enough to strangle by hanging to unconsciousness. She was seizing & unable to stand for about 6 hrs after the incident. It took her about a week to return to herself, at one point we just concluded she was brain damaged. Thank god she recovered. I have yet to get a straight answer about the details of what happened but it doesn't take rocket science to figure it out. Beware of Petsmart, they use groomers who are enrolled in grooming school but not licensed. I'd never use a big box store again for grooming. read more

Mixed emotions here. Our first experience with the Pet Hotel was fantastic. However, our most recent stay left our pets traumatized. For the cost I expected much better for my pets. Private suite, private playtime sessions, snacks, the royal treatment for our pups. In return I was left with stressed little dogs, one so hoarse he couldn't even bark. The boys where all but dumped on us when picking them up. For the $500 + paid, this is not at all the personal attention I expected for my pets. We just adopted a new dog after losing our beloved dog of 12 years and Petsmart has been there for us every step of the way. Seriously we signed up for a wellness plan through Barfield about 11 years ago and almost every vet and technician we came into contact with was so so great! Also the wellness plan saved us TONS of money. Free vet visits, free blood work, teeth cleanings, and shots all for an affordable monthly fee?!? I know some people who hated their wellness plan or banfield vet but I have loved ours and will purchase again for our new adorable dog! The staff at this location is exceptionally great. For. real. I love this location because it is close to my house and is always very clean. They also have pet grooming, boarding, and grooming here so what's not to love?!? read more

Dropped my pups off around 3 for the "Furminator".... Couldn't get a hold of anyone until 9pm... What were they doing for 6 hours? My dogs were a mess. Wet and shedding all over the place. Furminator?!?! One dog smelt like they had a bath and the other smelt like a low grade perfume. Felt so terrible forcing them into that experience. They were yelping when we got there.. Incredibly displeased with the level of service that I received when simply trying to buy a fish. First, it took forty minutes to get the attention of the ONLY employee working in the fish area. It took so long because he ignored my group's initial request for assistance and said "be with you in a minute. " He didn't even stop walking or bother to acknowledge that we were right there. Twenty minutes after that, he finally asked what we needed. We told him, and he asked a question about tanks, then asked about how old we were. My friends and I are each 17, so he then said "gotta be 18 to buy fish," and walked away. He kept us waiting for forty minutes, then told us we couldn't buy fish in a matter of seconds. He was rude, demeaning, abrasive, and certainly not fit to work in customer service. I will not be returning to the Highlands Petsmart anytime soon. read more

Took my pug Toots in for her puppy bath, even upgraded to the top paw plus. She smelled nothing like coconut shampoo, she didn't smell like she had been misted with anything. (I had to ask them to mist her) and she had no bow and her nails were just as sharp as when I brought her. Employees were nice, but even when I inquired about her bow, they did nothing. read more

Bought a Guinea pig there and a $200 dollar cage, food and bedding. The poor baby died not long after. Don't ever buy the cedar bedding they sell because it is toxic. They put the guinea pigs in cages with others which expose them to disease. When I called the banfield pet clinic they have no vet there that treats guineas pigs. read more

I am a new dog mom to a rescue as of November 2019.. Petsmart has become my bestest friend, the coupon book has saved me so much money in the past on food and products. A couple months ago I brought my pup in for his very first grooming appointment and I absolutely loved how his cut came out! It was exactly what I asked for, they kept his poodle curls short and fluffy! However, today I picked him up from his second grooming appointment with a new groomer and it was not what I asked for at all. Prior to his appointment I even showed a picture of his first cut and explained that I wanted him to look like the picture. I was under the impression that my expectations would get communicated with his groomer...it did not. I don't even recognize my pup anymore. I asked for a simple trim and now I can see his skin. His nails do not even look like they have been trimmed, his face is cut unevenly. I understand he had to get dematted due to his tangles and knots on the back of his arms but I did not ask for his back fur to be halfway shaved off. This is the second time I have selected the top dog plus package hoping my pup would come out cute with a bandana, and he did not. I am mortified. I know it is just a haircut and will grow back, I know that he is a dog and does not care but I however am extremely upset. I will not slander names or point fingers at anybody but I would just like it to be known that I am very dissatisfied. My husband took my dog to get groomed this morning and specifically said that he did not want her ears to be touched (as usual, and the note was confirmed in her instructions) because we love the long hairs hanging from her ears. 3 hours later he gets the call to get my dog and all her ear hair has been trimmed off. Beyond dissatisfied and after all these years will have to find a new place to get her groomed. If the groomers cannot follow simple instructions I simply cannot trust them with my dog, period. read more
