PetSkull brewery is open until 7pm on Sundays. The other two in Manitowoc are open until 6pm. We were late from camping and this picked pick this one. Immediately we saw a large set up of music west of the building. The music was decentish and classic rock. The doors next to the bar were open. We needed to go all the back, the furthest table away due to the volume. The flights are $20 for five 4oz pours. That's maybe a $1 more than I'd expect with economy of scale. Most flights are also only 4 pours so it isn't much more per ounce. If you don't get the barrel aged maybe not a good deal? Anyways we got 10 beers. They label each glass with the beer's number on the menu. Super helpful except I wasn't seated near the menu so I took photos. Bourbon barrel scotch ale I gave a 4/5. Vulgar Display Hazy Pale - Ironically this double dry hopped pal ale tasted most like a traditional non fruity ipa of all theirs. I would like to taste this without dry hopping. 3.5 Freaky 220 dangerous for a 9.75%. Drinks like a 6%. Not that hoppy. 3.25 The rest I rated a 3 or lower but I'm not into sour types. When the night meets the day should not have been a nitro. read more

We recently used our Hop Passports to stop in at Petskull. What a unique taproom they have here! Located near a green space, we were able to see how their location allows them to have live bands outside without intruding on neighbors. Their beautiful building is warm and welcoming, while large enough for several guests both inside and out. We each enjoyed a couple of their deliciously interesting beers. Outstanding microbrewery with great tasting beers in a roomy rustic building. The new location provides a very nice ambiance for enjoying their extensive range of beers. A five-beer flight (or two) is a great way to experience the concoctions they brew. Order at the bar and sit there or find a table. Highly recommend. read more

The deep fried food was done perfectly. The beer selection while having 20 or so choices. Was not appealing, only being allowed 2 samples allowed me one decent beer and one bad guess. With 2 beers and an appetizer costing about $25. Not a place I will frequent. They do have a flight for $20. But there were not enough beers on the menu that I actually wanted to try to fill a flight. read more

The decor, customer service and beer were very good. I rarely give a 5 star review but this place could of been one of my exceptions, my only reason was the souvenir counter. Because of the ferry ride this town is a tourist area, not having your t-shirts in a common size is opportunity lost. I was able to get a shirt but not the one I wanted. Not having my shirt did not hurt my experience, I will continue to look online to see if it comes in stock read more

Sadly, 1st time at the NEW location, totally psyched to go there for dinner! Always chose Petskull beer or suggested Petskull beer at EVERY place we ate at, every week! Asked to TASTE 3 beers, bartender told me they only allow tastings "of 3 beers" ‍, I said "great!" Told her the 3 I wanted to taste, she replied they were out of 1, (the peanut butter and jelly tasting one). No problem, tried the 2, chose one, then 1 for my husband. Then I ordered food, the Muffuletta, bartender said "we're out of that" I immediately had a back up choice, roast beef Po boy, but to have it "LEAN". The bartender asked me "WHAT DOES LEAN MEAN?" The owner decided to step in and asked what I meant by lean and I replied about the photo on Facebook shows a very fatty piece of beef, he replied, "you'll get whatever comes out of the kitchen." At some point, YES, YES, YES, I ROLLED MY EYES......ONCE!! Big deal! He IMMEDIATELY, LITERALLY, without a seconds hesitation, kicked us out blaming us for everything, out of a beer we wanted but they were out of, a dinner we wanted but they were out of, and a lousy request for trimmed (LEAN) fat off the beef. We weren't drunk, loud, obnoxious, swearing, name calling, threatening, picking fights, NOTHING to get anyone thrown out of a bar. Just a simple roll of the eyes in frustration after everything we went through. WE had to compromise, and did so very willingly and happily. He knew my husband was a 23 year combat veteran and I, a 28 year RN, he said "GET OUT!". What the ...? Because I rolled my eyes? Never before in my life had I been treated even CLOSE to this, and we eat out every single week and try out dozens and dozens of different places. After spending many a Sunday afternoon here enjoying music and friends, I encountered ugly egos by a bartender and the owner. I asked if I could order a half plate of nachos for just me (the normal size is way too big for one person) and was told they couldn't. I am on a vegan diet right now due to health reasons. I asked them to hold the chicken, cheese and sour cream, which they did, and I paid the full price of $21. When I was done, I took the plate to the kitchen and asked to speak to the owner, but the bartender said he was busy so I relayed my message to her. It is so loud in there I had to yell (no problem, I would expect that in a bar). I said I would like them to consider offering half plates of the nachos. Also since I only had half the ingredients I thought it would be appropriate for them to offer a reduced price. She said, "Well, when you open your own bar you can do that!" I was gob-smacked at the defensive response. Then the owner must have heard the conversation and asked me to leave! What a bunch of delicate egos there! If they can't listen to customers, they are in the wrong business. read more

Don't expect to be treated with kindness or professionalism. I waited 2 months to visit, had my first visit today...sat up to the bar...there were 3 employees working...no one said hi, can we help you or mentioned that you need to stand in line to get a beverage. So after realizing that our group was being blatantly ignored we decided to visit a friendlier nearby establishment- that had Petskull beer on tap - and you better believe I didn't order their stuff. I'm petty like that. I shouldn't mention that the ambiance looked great and the live music outside is a plus. Also pet friendly! read more

Stopped by PetSkull Brewing to check out the beer selection. Very good selection of beers. Had one of the ambers and it was very good. Service was also very good. Didn't try any of the food, but maybe on our next visit. Love the reuse of the old Tannery building. read more

This place is amazing! We went there for dinner tonight with friends. We had a group with varied tastes in beer, from hopheads to light drinkers. Everyone found something they liked very much. Our dinners were so good. We got the muffuletta, hush puppies, whodat fries, gumbo, and po'boy. They were all delicious. Note to all, they make VERY CLEAR this is a nightly kitchen--they may run out of a dish. If you want to get something specific, I do recommend going early. I confess that I'm mostly writing because someone today posted a review claiming they got kicked out....we were literally standing right next to that situation. First of all, the bartender answered the question nicely--they customer kept asking if the meat was "lean"--the bartender said, "it's all one cut, but it's mostly lean." That is true (and the customer posted a photo that shows that). Same review says that customer got kicked out. Not true. They got told to knock it off by the owner, they said, "we will just leave then" and the owner said that was fine. And of course they brought politics into it...I can say I have no idea what the politics of anyone associated with this place are. The owners here are concerned with providing a good time for all, but I appreciate that they back up their staff. We keep hearing about how hard a time restaurants have finding and keeping staff...we appreciate a place that is doing right by their people. Thanks, PetSkull. We will be back soon! read more

I visited PetSkull Brewing on 6/17/22. I visit craft breweries as a hobby. I was reminded that I needed to update my Garmin GPS as I was initially sent to their old address. There is another new brewery at the old address just opening. The nice woman in the Italian deli/restaurant across the street advised me as to the new address and I found it quickly after. The new location is on a corner where there is somewhat spotty parking, primarily on the street. There's a parking lot across the street that appears to be owned by the factory/business and consists of gravel. There was a lot of construction around the establishment with new housing and renovations to the surrounding street. This was the primary view from the back patio. The building is historic & and spacious inside. I approached the bar/front counter and first realized that there was a kitchen specializing in Cajun/New Orleans fare. There was also a sign prohibiting outside food. I ordered a flight of 5 to try. As I normally do, I asked about brewery stickers and the Wi-Fi connection. The friendly bartender informed me they had no Wi-Fi and the stickers (choice of 3) were $3 a piece. Apparently they need every penny to pay for their expansion. Every other brewery I've visited (approximately 165 as of the date of visit) offers a sticker for free or $1 at the most. $3 is excessive. It is equally unusual for a brewery in 2022 not to have a Wi-Fi connection. This is equivalent to running Windows 95 in a modern office. I sat and had my flight on the patio. I liked the Schnitzky & Trappist Tripel the most. The others were ok. Nice selection of beer. No Wi-Fi. read more

Really good brews! Our favorites were coconut stout and Aunt Bernice. Lots of outdoor seating which is great during covid times. Indoors is tight quarters and nobody masked unfortunately. This is a good place for a drink outdoors or a growler fill-up! Will be back read more

WONDERFUL little brewery!! Super clean!!! Came in to check it out while we were in town and LOVED every beer we tried!! Wish we could have stayed longer...or wish they were open later. Bartenders were super fun and sweet. Even all the locals that were in there drinking were awesome. Definitely worth a stop! They also have some good merch. read more

Excellent local microbrewery! This Manitowoc's only true microbrewery (I don't consider that syrup operation on 8th Street as a true microbrwery), and I hope it inspires other would-be-entrepreneurial home-brewers. The beer selection will also vary, but it always has a few excellent selections. It can get crowded, and parking can be limited. read more

I don't rate restaurants or bars often. But I need to rate Petskull. First off, Paul (owner) has a huge personality. He looks like the child of a '60's biker and '70's punk rocker. But he is a cupcake. He is as friendly and funny as they come. The beer - awesome. Rating the beer could be a 2000 word review. Just know that it changes all the time and it is great. The food - Cajun in WI? YES! Order it without hesitation. I have had it all and have never been disappointed. It's a small-ish brewpub but everything you would want a small brewpub to be. This place could be in Chicago, Scottsdale, Denver, etc. and would do very well. A small town like Manitowoc is lucky to have it here. Go here and you will be happy. read more

Beer was adequate. I chose to go to have a drink and watch the afternoon Brewer/Cubs game. When I requested that the game be turned on, I was told that a televised game wouldn't be congruent with the atmosphere that they were trying to project. I suggested that it could be on without sound and was rejected with a resounding "NO." Certainly they have a right to their contempt of sporting fans. I left and found solace in one of the many fine establishments that don't put their selves above their clientele. read more

First, the beer. Petskull gets it right. From the classic "Schnitzky" or the hop-packed Freaky 220, to some of the seasonal plights Paul and his crew know what they're doing. I've grabbed many growlers for gatherings and folks rave about the Petskull product. Now, to the atmosphere. This place is small. I'm talking your Aunt Millie's living room small. Doors open at 4:30 and it isn't unusual to see a line forming before that. However, the small space adds a level of community and quaintness that is appreciated. There is complimentary popcorn and pretzels and they encourage patrons to BYOF. Staff? It is one of the reason I keep coming back. I don't know if this is so much a job for them or a social outing. The adult talk and jovial disposition of all those pouring pints is welcoming. And don't be alarmed when you order that first "Schnitzky". They're not yelling at you, they're. celebrating. read more

Petskull does a great job with their products. There is always something for everyone and the owner takes pride in even the more common styles because the beer fan has many offerings in microbreweries anymore and is getting quite familiar to certain styles, so it HAS to be good. It's not enough anymore just to offer craft brews....they must be well crafted craft brews. This is where Petskull excels. Their taproom is clean and comfortable with a relaxed cozy coffee shop feel. Everything about Petskull is what makes it awesome. EVERYTHING! Paul and Kathi are two of the most friendly, down to earth people you'll meet. The staff is attentive and social. The beer....MY GOD, THE BEER!!!! The beer is amazing and it is always made better by the creative names and signage they come up with for it. The best part, though, is that this is a TAPROOM! Not a bar. No liquor or soda is served (although like with the food, they don't seem to care if you bring your own). It's a place to go and have a beer you love or try a beer you haven't had before and fall in love with it. Manitowoc is so lucky that Petskull has proudly planted its' flag here. read more
