CharlieHorse Dr. Soliman has been Charlie's doctor since he was rescued in 2019. I am a disabled veteran and Charlie horse has been my service dog for the last five years. He is my soul companion, he is the beat of my heart, and he and I have a soul contract and I know that he will be in my life long after both of us have passed. I love my dog. And because I love him is the reason that I make sure that his health is taken care of to the best of my ability. Charlie was unable to tell me that he was having toothaches, and the growth on his side was non-cancerous. But I was worried, and put money aside, Knowing that a dog's dental bill would be almost as much as a humans. Funny story, Charlie and my son both went to the dentist at the same time. And Charlie horse cost more because he couldn't tell us what was wrong. He had to have three teeth pulled and a huge benign tumor removed. He is much healthier and happier now. How could I not be there for my companion when he's there for me 24/7. The least I could do is make sure physically he is healthy and it's been proven that there is a link between dental hygiene heart failure, and organ failure. I want to keep my 115 pound puppy around as long as I possibly can. Yes he's slightly overweight but he is a Dutch Shepherd mastiff mix and it looks good on him. I'm really thankful for Dr.Soliman and her amazing team in the special services that they offer for service animals and veterans. If I can spend a couple of thousand dollars to make sure that my car is taken care of on a yearly basis, the least I could do is put that amount of care into my service Animal, who is the reason that I can leave my house every day in my car. He's the reason that I get up every morning and can face the day. Charlie horse keeps me safe, he literally guides me and helped me when I fall down, he's constantly at my side, making sure that I'm OK. Anyone who has a companion animal, support or therapy dog understands how important they're health is. So thank you to Pets R Us for your dedication and love that you show on a daily. Wish i read the hundreds of reviews on how money hungry this place is before taking my dog here! Took my dog in to get checked out and told them money was tight and asked them to keep that in mind, they called saying it was going to be $600 and i was very weary at that price over the phone and told them ill have to make it work but thats all i had. Go to pick him up at the end of the day and the bill was over $1100! After the medication they gave us and the $100 bag of dog food they made us buy its been 2 months and his symptoms arent much better. Took him back to get a follow up because nothing was better and they said it would be $50, they call saying they want to do an ultrasound and bloodwork for another $900! My wife tells them shes gotta ask me and i say we need to find another vet. My wife calls back to tell them we are gonna pick him up and they have already started the blood work we had not approved! Then when she picks him up they say the bill is almost $100 not $50 because "we didnt come back in the two week period" after they had just quoted her $50 an hour earlier and the only reason we didnt come back in the two week period is we couldnt afford to after they doubled the original $600 price! I've never given a negative review in my life but I feel strongly no one should take their pet here. Not if they want decent care anyway. I wish I could give less then 1 star. It's May 31st, 2022 and they still haven't opened there doors for pet owners to go into the building. Everything else has opened back up post Covid and this just speaks to the validity of the business. They are rude, short, and not thorough in any capacity. My dog has a lump, they told us to watch it. We did. She got another one and the originally one grew, still no help. They just told us they can remove it. Maybe that is the only next option but an explanation and answering why we should do one thing or the other is the bare minimum for care. We will not take our dog back. We live down the street and knew of this place based on proximity and the large signage that reads "Pets R Us, Pet HOSPITAL". So when our dog was in a critical state yesterday, I didn't think twice when I drove him to what I thought...go figure, based on the name...was a pet hospital. NO, no, not a hospital at all. First of all, you must call upon arrival, and secondly you must have an appointment. Had there been a true emergency, I wouldn't bank on their compassion or interest in helping, just based on the "feeling" I got from the receptionist over the phone. This may or may not be a fair assessment, as it's just the "feeling" I got. Anyway, overall, I know I'd never be back...just wasn't impressed. Despite this, I suggest at very least, they remove the word "hospital" from their name on the building, not to cause confusion for others like me. On a positive, they at least gave me a referral for a hospital (or "clinic" as they could take my dog to in Thornton, so I appreciated that at least...even though they referred to it as a "clinic" as they called it, in a corrective manner). I really think these people don't have a correct grasp on English vernacular, as It had me second guessing my own understanding of clinics versus hospitals. Based on my quick Google, it was reaffirmed this is NOT a hospital! "hospital is typically larger than a clinic and treats both inpatients and outpatients whereas a clinic is smaller and is focused on outpatients." In vet medicine, "when comparing clinics to hospitals is the size of the facility. Yes, hospitals are likely to be larger in physical size, but that is only because they provide more services. In a nutshell, hospitals are classified as full-service facilities with more in-hospital capabilities, hospital services and treatment options. They also have more space for keeping sick animals overnight. read more

This place says it's open on Saturdays but I left 3 messages and no one called me back. Not on Saturday. Not ever. It's one thing to be busy but if you're open , you should respond to all messages. Do Not take your dogs here! They only have interest in your money. We took our 7 year old pup in for lame back leg. They did X-rays with no resolution, then we paid for specialist to look at X-rays. Still no resolution. My poor pup is now dragging her back legs behind her because the problem is still not addressed. Again, paid them lots of money.... We also boarded both of our pups there over the holiday weekend. We were charged for services not performed and also medications were not administered to the pups while they where there. Called the office to voice my concerns and never received a call back. Not to mention that we still cant go into to office even though restrictions have been lifted. This review is WAY overdue. I want to state, that we moved our dog (we have had her since she was 5 weeks old) from Banfield to Pets R Us back in January. Maxine was having horrible gland issues and she was able to finally be cared for like she should have been more than 5 years ago!! We had to have the surgery to remove the damaged glands but Dr. Soloman was so caring and attentive. We didn't and dont feel like a number at a location who sees more vets than a revolving door see's visitors. My family is forever grateful for her and her team there. Thank you!!!!! read more

On 6/17/2019 I took both of my 13 year old Chihuahuas in for their annual shots and exams. I was given a quote right off of $584 total for both to have an exam and shots. Shocked at the initial price, I reluctantly agreed to the price since this is their annual exams. At check out and the receptionist tells me that the total is $832.28. I knew there would be a little increase from the previous $584 because the tech asked me if I wanted to do a 3 year rabies shot, versus the 1 year, and I agreed. But holy moly, where did the extra come from? I then found out that the vet did labs on my diabetic Chihuahua while they had her in the back giving her vaccines, which I still have not received a call about the results of these labs. I just cannot wrap my head around a price tag of $832 for 2 annual exams with shots. Is this what other people pay for their dogs?? Fast forward to today, 3/14/2020. I sent my husband up to their business to pick up a vial of Vetsulin for our diabetic Chihuahua. Mind you, for the past 1.5 years I have been getting it filled from Chewy since they ship it to my front door. I work long hours for UCHealth, and prefer getting it delivered to me. Since Pets R Us in Commerce City has acquired a new vet, and new office manager, Sheila, the past two prescription requests have been denied by Sheila. She left a voicemail on my phone that they will price match Chewy if I get the medication from them. They prefer to keep the business in house. I was not happy about this, but what else could I do? My husband shows up for the medication today, and they hit him with a $65 price tag, when the website for Chewy shows $58.65 today. They go back and forth with him, and eventually put him in a waiting room because they did not like the fact he was telling them that they were not honoring their end of the bargain by price matching. Since they couldn't go back on that statement, they proceed to tell my husband they cannot fill the medication now because our dog hasn't been seen since 6/17/2019. Apparently "now" they have a 6 month follow up requirement. Funny that we were never told this before and our dogs only had to be seen yearly. Needless to say my husband left without our dogs insulin, and we took her to Brighton Animal Clinic. They honored the price of Chewy, and will have our business going forward. DO NOT GO TO PETS R US IN COMMERCE CITY! They are overly expensive, they are RUDE, and they make up rules as they go.. They do not deserve your business. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I had the misfortune of using this facility for my dogs international health exam. They had my dog for 8 hours and when I finally got her back she was SOAKED IN HER OWN URINE!!! Then it took 9 days to get the documents nearly filled out correctly! The USDA only allows a 10 day period between the exam and departure. Then it cost me an additional $200 to fix their mistakes. I hope no one there ever has to experience the fear and helplessness of being stuck in customs, unable to get to your dog (after a 12hour flight), and not knowing when it will end. Please find some other place that can simply fill out paperwork. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! If I could rate this negative stars I would! This place is awful all they want is money!! They charged me $540 for a exam, blood work and some medications which by the way he did not need!! I took my cat in because I was concerned about diabetes as he was having symptoms. I just moved to the area and was looking for somewhere close by. Big mistake! I mentioned he had been licking him self quite a bit and the doctor automatically put him on a anti fungal, a skin spray, oral allergy medication and shampoo. They did not do any diagnostic testing for this so called skin issues and I unfortunately accepted the charges not knowing what was going on as I was concerned for my cat. She also gave him a antibiotic injection saying his mouth was infected which it is not as I got a second opinion. All of this was done via curb side due to COVID. When Dr. Soliman called me to go over the exam I talked to her all but for maybe 5 minutes. I took him on a Saturday and was told bloodwork would be back Monday and they would call me with the results. Monday comes and goes and no call, so I called Tuesday asking for results the receptionist says she will have the doctor call me. She never did!! I called again Wednesday and was told again someone would call me back. Finally the lead tech (not the doctor) calls me and tells me my cat is diabetic. When I called again as no one had talked to me about treatment and I had asked to speak to a manager I was told they have no real manager and I would have to talk to the doctor but was told she is out of town for over a week! I have since went back to my old vet in Boulder who also thought it was very unnecessary to prescribe all these medications that he didn't need and have gotten him started on the necessary treatment and diet for his diabetes. What a waste of money when they don't even care about the pet. I do not recommend this place to anyone!! read more

I have looked over the prices and them not being very flexible because they are so conveniently located. When it was my senior dogs time to be put down they couldn't get my in for 3 days and when there is an emergency they normally aren't available, but today was my breaking point. I called at 8am when they opened cause my dog had ingested chocolate and instead of giving me advice and telling me what I needed to do the girl At the front desk said" we have a really big surgery today, can you call community animal hospital". The estimated cost I was provided was $1,200 for dental surgery. After my dog was put under, Dr Solomon called me to tall me it would be $2,600, not the $1,200 quote I was provided. Zero bed side manor with my dog. Zero customer service. She (dr Solomon) only cares about screwing you out of money. 0/10. Do not recommend this place. BE CAREFUL WITH THIS PLACE! I just adopted a dog and unfortunately, she had Kennel Cough. I made the mistake of taking her to Pets R Us, because it was in the neighborhood. I quickly realized that they don't care about the pet, they just care about the money. Dr. Soliman didn't review my intake. In it, I said that the dog had likely been suffering from kennel cough. Also, I had adopted a 4-month-old puppy and in her records, she stated that my dog was 7 months old. She proceeded to charge me and to perform a heartworm test, which is dangerous on puppies less than 7 months old. The dog had a 105 degree fever, and pneumonia (which was a direct result of the untreated kennel cough). However, Dr. Soliman told me that she suspected that my dog was probably poisoned so she could perform a ton of unnecessary tests and keep charging me. After $1091 I picked up my dog from her practice with a temperature of 103. Dr. Soliman didn't give me any antibiotics for the dog, only Vitamin K (for the phantom poisoning), which didn't help with my dog's issues. I talked to the shelter and they gave me an appointment to see their veterinarian who expressed that the dog only had kennel cough, and gave me antibiotics and cough medicine for the puppy. My dog immediately started feeling better. This "doctor" at least could've given me the antibiotics, which clearly seemed like the simple solution. Dr. Soliman called me the next day to recommend that we take her back to the veterinarian's office, so that they could keep an eye on my dog at no initial cost! This seemed like a ploy to see how much more she could scare me out of. This "Doctor" only cares about the money! She doesn't care enough about the pet to even review what we write in the intake before the pet is taken to be checked up. When I compared what I wrote against her records, everything was completely different. If you can, get a second opinion before you spend tons of money in a place where that's all that they want. read more

My family is new to the Commerce City area and were in need of a vet. Despite initial reservations, my husband and I decided to give Pet R Us a try as our dog was experiencing unusual diarrhea with possible blood. We were very worried and they were close by. I took him in on a Saturday. The reception area seemed to be clean and the staff friendly. We got set up in an exam room with a furred table, but hey, it's a vets office and maybe they're busy. The tech does the pre-exam which my dog never likes, no difference here, then doctor comes in and she's very nice. We start talking and she asks if our dog is on heart-worm medication. He isn't, and I'd been told by another vet in Colorado that heart-worm is not a problem here and didn't recommend meds. This doctor tells me that it used to not be a problem, but with all the people moving here it's becoming one. Excuse me?? Aren't heart-worms transmitted to dog via mosquito? Either way, it turns out our pup was very dehydrated so they recommended an IV, blood-work, stool cultures as I'd brought a sample, and three medications. The cost of this is about $400 and change. After talking over what was absolutely necessary with the doctor, I declined the medications until blood work was done as I didn't feel like stressing my dog's stomach considering why I brought him in if he didn't need it. A few days later, the test results came back clear and pup's stomach had cleared up by the next day but we had scheduled a follow up exam for the next Saturday at the initial appointment, so I kept it. At follow up, all but two of the staff were different including the doctor. We were checked in quickly, but again our exam room was not sterile and the receptionist hustled in the clean while we waited. The doctor comes in, we talk about pup's improvement, she looks in the ears, listens to the heart, suggests teeth cleaning and gives us some dental care samples. Back at the reception desk, on top of the $300+ we paid on the initial visit, we were charged a $35 dollar recheck fee with an additional $4.99 hazardous waste disposal fee. I questioned this because I was not told that a follow up would incur a charge and this has never happened with any previous vet service we used. Considering the fact that the vet did not use gloves, thermometer or throw away any kind of waste for our visit, the extra fee really felt like a twist of the price gouging knife. Did we pay you to wash your hands between appointments?? The manager conveniently left the room while I was asking questions to the receptionist who stated she that she was a volunteer. When my husband and I to attempted to have further conversation about our charges with the manager directly, she had "gone to lunch" and we were asked to call back on Monday. Totally unprofessional and unethical in little ways over both visits that just added up to our least favorite vet experience. With behavior like this, the feeling I had leaving the office was terrible... Like we'd made a bad choice going there in the moment of being worried about our pup. Like maybe we exposed him to who-knows-what when he was out of our sight. Like it's hard enough to find good care and to trust new providers and THIS is exactly why. Like we were helpless to do anything about it. It really wasn't good, but lesson learned. We'll be looking elsewhere today so that we're not acting rashly next time we need to find a vet. It's sad that these people will try to take advantage when they know what our fur babies mean to us. read more

Grossly negligent, unprofessional service, and questionable care practices. The receptionist quickly brought us back to a room, the first door she opened appeared to startle her, it seems that room was empty but not clean enough for patients. The next door she opened, she asked us to come in the, the examination table still had another dog's fur on it so she quickly sprayed the table, and the plush blue mat on top of the table. The doctor awkwardly slips in, barely acknowledging us, to take a thermometer off the counter. She leaves with out much to say, we assume she is working with some other pet. Soon enough she comes back in, thermometer in hand. After some rather upfront and accusatory questioning, in place of an actual greeting or questions about the dog's health, she told us she was ready to look at our dog. She checks his heart beat (normal stethoscope around her neck), she looks in his ears ( no tools used), we stop her before she goes to check his temperature. At no point did she wash her hands that we saw, she was not wearing gloves, she was carrying the thermometer when she entered again, that we could only assume was just used. There was no protective cover, opened or placed over the thermometer, it was the same one that was on the counter when we entered the room earlier, that she took out of the room, returned with and put back on the counter before "examining" our dog. She seemed puzzled by our request. She recommended more work, despite our otherwise healthy dog, and more blood work despite the blood work we had done the week before. A week prior another doctor had prescribed medication, for worms and parasites, before the blood was even drawn. Results would not be in for two more days, but she still recommended medication anyway (blood work came back good, healthy dog). We turned down any additional work offers from them, and then we were handed a $40 bill. $35.00 for a "Re-check", and $4.99 for "waste disposal". When we questioned the charges, the manager left and the receptionist that remained explained she is a volunteer and can not help. When we asked to speak with a manager we were told "she is on lunch, you can call in Monday". Apparently lunches run from 11:15am on Saturday to Monday morning. We have never had a Vet experience like this. I am no doctor, but I understand the importance of sterilization. I am in customer service and there is no question that their priorities are on making money, over providing competent care. This felt like an auto mechanics shop, not a doctors office. read more

I called to get my dog looked at for a ear problem. I scheduled an appointment and surgery for the next day. I went to speak to the vet and to find out about the surgery and ask questions. The vet could not be bothered because she was making phone calls. How can a vet be trusted if they can't be bothered to speak to me about the surgery before I bring my dog in. It was very unprofessional and lazy. I called today to cancel my appointment and spoke to the front desk and they told me the vet would not talk to me unless she was getting paid for her time. 12/8/2020 Earlier this year we brought our sweet Orion into Pets R Us because our vet was not available for severe gastric issues. The staff and Dr. Soliman could not have been more kind to us, she explained every step and her recommendation and even gave Orion an extra day to see if his condition may improve overnight before the option of surgery. After Orion's surgery, Dr Soliman called each weekend day to check on him with us. The office continues to be so kind and efficient whenever we need to refill his prescription. Please do not go here! We brought our 6 month old puppy who was throwing up. after taking X-rays and paying extra for a radiologist to review the X-ray they said there was nothing they could see. We then pursued blood work which according to them indicated he had pancreatitis and kidney damage. At this point we had already paid them over $800. We were fully on board for getting him the treatment and almost gave them another $1,000 + to treat him. We decided a second opinion would be best. It has been 6 days since the X-ray and our puppy has lost significant weight is not eating and is suffering significantly. After spending $600 at 4 other vets who were disgusted with the negligence at petsrus. He was rushed to a specialist and sent into emergency surgery with the strong potential of not making it because of how weak he was. He is now out of surgery and will need to stay admitted for 5 days ( another $2,000). Our puppy swallowed a ball This could have all been avoided if they would have taken the time and cared about our suffering puppy. After receiving the records (X-rays) from petsrus I COULD SEE THE BALL, my children could see the ball! How was this missed by a veterinarian and a radiologist! read more

Dr. Solomon and her staff are truly a gift! We are so blessed to have her and her team move into our area. My 4 year old dog escaped from the garage and got hit by a car in front of our house. It was 6:45pm and I rushed into town to see if they were still open. They lovingly accepted my dog and immediately got to work to determine how serious his condition was. It was an extremely stressful and nerve wracking situation, but Dr. Solomon comforted us and was very efficient at caring for my dogs medical needs. After sedation and stitches, well after closing, my dog was able to come home and recovered quickly. She called to check on him the next day and has won us over as our primary veterinarian. My 16 year old black Lab named Gus was having intestinal issues and Dr. Soloman worked hard to help him recover. After a couple of weeks of treatment and the condition kept coming back and worsening we decided it was time to let my beloved Gus go. Dr. Solomon sat on the floor with me as she sent him peacefully off. It is the hardest thing to do but with her advise I know it was best for him and he thanked me for letting him go. NEWS FLASH - Under new management in 2018. Based on two trips to see this vet, I can say the costs are up 300% - that's no joke. There has been a serious uptick in costs since new management has taken over. I checked around and was able to find the same services for 1/3 the price at several other places. I'd suggest Ft. I have never in my life heard a pet yelp/ scream like that in my life. I do have what seems to be a very sensitive pet but I feel the stress/pain my dog was experiencing was unusual. The vet seemed to be very pleasant for the little time we spent with her and the front office lady was very pleasant as well. The lady who returned my dog to me stated "it wasn't so much the shots as it was holding her down that made her yelp". I have had several animals in my life that have received veterinary care and I have never heard cries like that out of any of my animals. I had a hard time containing myself from barging into the room. Not impressed. read more

We have been taking our 3 dogs here since opened. Everyone is so friendly and really loves the dogs! The vets sit in the floor to examine your dog, talk to the dog and explain everything they do in a way the you can understand. They take the time to answer your questions and really listen to you. I just love Dr. Soliman and her staff. Everyone is very caring, concerned, and KNOWLEDGEABLE! I've taken my pets to veterinarians in Thornton, Northglenn, Westminster, Brighton and Commerce City, and am as pleased as I've ever been with any other vet. I recently called a number of clinics to price check for Rabies Shots - including Banfield at PetsMart - and the rates at Pets R Us are comparable or lower than the others. I urge anyone reading to check around and you will be surprised at the quality of care and rates you will find at Pets R Us in Commerce City.
