I was referred to this clinic by our emergency vet for regular and preventative care for our two young golden retrievers. We have had several office visits for a variety of reasons over the past several months and I could not be happier. Excellent quality of care from the front desk to the providers. I have met with I think three of the long time professionals that are there, and have always received good information, I was never rushed and their fees are more than reasonable. Our 6 month old puppy was neutered at Brighton Animal Clinic and is still suffering 9 days later in pain and stopped eating. The clinic refused to see him when called last Thursday, saying, "He is just sad." His pain from that surgery is worse, he has stopped eating, and he barely walks now like a 15 year old dog. I decided to write this in order to not only inform people of our horrible experience but to educate people regarding a deadly condition many dog breeds are susceptible to. We had a three-year-old male Pembroke Welsh corgi named Cooper. Cooper was a sweet little guy that we loved and really enjoyed having him as part of our family. Around the mid part of Jan (actually Jan 18th 2024), Cooper's back left leg was experiencing a slight twitch. We took him into the Brighton Animal Clinic in Brighton Colorado and the doctor diagnosed him with a muscle spasm. At that time the doctor gave us some Rimadyl which is an anti-inflammatory. It appeared to help for a short time until Feb 7th 2024 when the situation appeared to get worse. We took Cooper back to the Brighton Clinic on Feb 8th 2024 and the doctor decided to do a CBC blood panel and told us his white blood count was slightly elevated and there was a little blood in his urine, however, he was not concerned. Thinking Cooper could have a urinary tract infection, he also gave us an antibiotic. They also checked his sugar levels and thyroid levels during that visit and those were normal. Cooper was not getting better and by the night of Feb 11th 2024, we took him to the Urgent care in Commerce City. We were asked to get Cooper's weight and he could not stand on his legs. They got us in a room and started to check his vital signs. We told them we had taken Cooper to the Brighton Clinic twice and relayed what they had told us. They did a basic chemistry blood panel and once again told us his sugar levels and thyroid levels looked fine. They also thought it was more than likely a muscle spasm as a slipped disc would cause him not to be able to walk at all. Many time corgis can have back problems due to being so long. We were sent home with some pain killers and told to cage Cooper for two weeks. All day Feb 12th 2024, Cooper laid on my wife's lap which is pretty unusual, however, we attributed his inactivity to his diagnosed leg issue. The next morning Feb 13th 2024, Cooper could not stand to pee. We quickly decided to take him to the Emergency Vet hospital in Loveland. They put us in a room and started to do a check of his vitals in addition to a CBC blood panel. It did not take too long for them to come in and ask us if we were aware that the Brighton Clinic had noticed his blood platelets were 1000 vs. a normal count of between 150,000 and 350,000. We both looked at each other and were totally shocked, as the vet at Brighton never mentioned it. Their platelet reading was zero and they diagnosed Cooper with a condition called IMTP. IMTP is where the dogs' immune system starts to attack the body and in this case; it attacks the platelets. It leads to internal bleeding and in Cooper's case the unnecessary delay led to him bleeding into his spinal cord, brain, eyes and stomach. The internal medicine doctor gave Cooper less than a 50% chance of survival. His condition got so much worse from the time we walked in the door. As much as we both hated making such a horrible decision, we decided to put Cooper down as, he was obviously suffering and probably had been for several days. My wife sent the Brighton Clinic an e-mail describing what had happened. The Vet who treated Cooper called to apologize and said it was totally his error. He thought the low platelet level was an artifact and that is why he did not tell us. If we had known this information, we would have taken Cooper to an Emergency Vet ASAP. It might not have changed the end result; however, it might have and that is what is so upsetting. read more

If I could give this place a zero stars, I would. I took my dog in to get some blood work done, as she had been eating but was still losing weight. My pup had been having some anxiousness from a move and I wanted her to be able to be a little calmer while getting adjusted, so I figured I would talk to he vet about medication as well. When I was greeted at the front desk they told me how skinny my dog looked and that she looked sickly (which was why I was there). They asked me how old she was, to which I answered that she was 11 years old. The vet tech walked up to me and told me that since she is 11 and so skinny to prepare myself because she FOR SURE has some type of CANCER and that it is going to show up in her blood work. They ended up giving her some puppy Prozac to help calm her nerves, which I was extremely happy with. However, when I was waiting for the vet tech to bring out the medication (Prozac), I could hear the secretaries talking in the back about how much money to charge me for her Prozac. They stated that the cost of the prescription was three dollars, but that the minimum they could charge me is $10. From there, the doctor instructed them to charge me $10. That is THREE TIMES THE COST. Why? Why? Why? I had cash, it wasn't like they had to run my card. To make matters worse, when I left, they said they would call me that same day with the lab results from her blood panel. I cried the entire way home thinking my poor girl had cancer, as the vet assistant had ASSURED me that cancer was the cause of my dogs anxiety and weight loss. An hour later, the clinic ended up calling me and telling me that my dogs lab results came back absolutely perfect, showing that she was completely healthy and the nurse on the phone even joked that she had such healthy results that she had 'puppy blood'. I have never been more appalled or upset by a visit to the vet. read more

I am very disappointment with this clinic and will not return. Dr. Osborne had been seeing my 4 pound 7-month old petite Goldendoodle since I got her in May. On 11/7, I took her in to be spayed. When I went to pick her up, the doctor didn't bother to meet with me, give me an update, etc. I thought that was strange, but let it go. They prescribed pain meds for her and told me to begin giving her 1/4 pill/day the following day. I gave her the first dose on Wednesday, 11/8, around 1:00 PM. Wednesday evening, she began having what looked to my untrained eye as seizures or spasms. She'd be sleeping in my arms and then suddenly would jump sky high. Thursday morning, she had a couple more. I thought they could be due to pain, so I gave her another dose of the medication at 1:00 PM (it could only be given every 24 hours). As the afternoon progressed, her "seizures" increased. She also was still not eating/drinking/peeing/pooping. I called this clinic 3 times in the span of 3 or so hours. The receptionist was uncaring, despite the panic in my voice, and just said that isn't a usual reaction to a spay. The only time the vet could see my puppy was 10:00 the next morning. I see clients via telehealth and asked if the vet could call me in the morning, so I didn't cancel clients if she thought nothing was wrong. The receptionist said, "I will try to have her call you in the morning, but she'll be very busy with appointments, so I don't know that she'll get around to it." So, I said I would take that 10:00 appointment. As the afternoon wore on, the "seizures" became more frequent. I googled the medication they'd given me and side effects included seizures, changes in behavior, changes in elimination, etc. During my 4:00 telehealth appointment, my poor puppy had 6-8 "seizures" in the course of the hour. I decided to take her to an all-night pet urgent care, rather than wait until the next morning. The vet and vet tech there were amazing with her. They spent over an hour with us. The vet thought this could possibly be a reaction to the meds, or that it could be hypoglycemia since she's so tiny and she wasn't eating/drinking/eliminating. She brought in a dish of wet dog food to see if she would eat it, which she did. I left there with 4 cans of the wet food, new medications, and directions to bring her back the next day if I saw no improvement - for no additional charge. The next day, I received an email from Brighton Animal Clinic, reminding me of my appointment the following week to have her stitches removed, and telling me how important my pet's health was to them! Yeah, right! I emailed back that I wanted to cancel my appointment because I would be taking my puppy elsewhere for her care. Dr. Osborne never reached out to me to see how my puppy was doing, why I was leaving her practice or to try to make things right. My feeling is that they don't care at all about their patients, or their patients owners. This is a cold, uncaring practice and I would never recommend taking your pet there if you care about their well-being! read more

I have been using The Brighton Animal Clinic my entire life. Dr. Martin is so good with animals with such an even temperament. This morning I took my 13 year old lab in to get his nails clipped. They clipped them right inside the door so I would have to take him all the way back. They were so good to him... he just sat there calmly while they did his nails. The first time we came here it was because of our cat Scooter. He had been losing weight and not being himself at all. We got him in the same day. The vet was gentle and loving with him, and suggested an X-ray because he felt a lump in his abdomen. Sadly he was later diagnosed lymphoma and passed a week or later. On Monday we called because our tiny cat who is 2,(she never grew much and still has her infant teeth), because she had been throwing up for a few days and becoming much much less energetic. We called Monday morning, they got her in at 10. Because of Covid we couldn't go in, but they came out and talked with us at length about what she's been going through, and when they came back, they were very thorough and mentioned that possibly some blood work could narrow things down. Long story short, it's Wednesday and she's feeling much better from antibiotics and suggestive care. I'll forsure come back to this place. read more

I have been going to this vet for 20 years. I will not be going back or recommending them to anyone. My family also had been using this clinic. Let me start with last year. My daughter adopted a St. Bernard not knowing she was an epileptic. The poor thing was having a massive seizure so they just rushed her to this vet, which is their vet, during business hours. They carry her into the clinic and the receptionist says they won't see her. They don't have an appointment and the Doctors are all busy. When asked where they could take her the rectionist says in a snotty voice she didn't know but not there! They take her to a different vet in town they had never been to and we're seen immediately! A couple weeks ago my cocker spaniel was having a really hard time walking. He is falling down and shivering and needs help getting up. I call this vet for an appointment, tell them what is happening. They inform me they have no appointments for 2 weeks! Then they inform me he definitely needs seen that day. I ask them where I could take him, they have no idea! I call a different vet in town never been there, they say they haven't any appointments available, but ask me what is going on. I tell them and they make room in their schedule for that day because he needs to be seen asap. Worst practice ever! Spend a little more money and go to a vet that actually cares about you and your pet! read more

Very disappointed in the service. The front desk is extremely rude, impatient, and lacks in professionalism. During my search for a new vet, in Brighton, I was impressed with the front desk gal, who has been there for 20+years, saying how great care,the clinic vets, take with animals. Since then, that same gal has been short with me and clearly "put out" with my dogs needs. I have had to call several times in a week on a monthly basis since January to get RX refilled!! Once being told they need to see my dogs again for a check up?!? Couldn't explain why that was needed since they just seen them less than 3months ago?? Dr. Fernandez seemed great, but was surprised on the lack of follow thru. Dr. Martin, took a phone call from me, as the receptionist accused me of being rude, when I stated I will call back for follow up/follow thru on the RX requests! all I need is 3 RX!!! And was told he can't write those now, but to give him a couple of hours... because he is so busy! (Again, to fill out a already printed rx form???) Then; we had an emergency come up, DO NOT expect Brighton Animal clinic to help! I was blatantly told if I don't like their expected appt time (10weeks out) to go to another vet!!! I'm sorry, what?!? Im in the medical field and if I was to treat my patients as they have treated me and my dogs, well, I would not have a job. The convenience of their location is no longer a plus, we are taking our animals to another vet that will treat me and them with respect. read more

Dr. O and her team are top notch! We are always greeted and helped by BAC's knowledgable staff as soon as we walk in the door. The waiting room is clean and the wait times are always minimal. Dr. O is very trustworthy and always been straight forward and caring; We have NEVER felt as if she was dragging us along for an extra dollar... Which I can not say about other Vets in the area. The different between life and death can be the family vet. Not the emergency vet - the family vet. The one that you trust for your animals to see and be treated well. Let me preface this with the fact that I went to vet tech school. I knew something was up when my in-laws called, crying because their cat was gravely ill. Well, let me tell you about a story of a veterinarian that wouldn't listen to owners: This Friday, my in-laws took their four year cat in to this clinic. He was acting weird, smelled kind of strange, and his abdomen was hard. Dr. Fernandez did an xray, put the cat under anesthesia, and did an enema, saying that the cats colon was full. When my mom in law questioned if he needed to do more tests, the vet denied that being needed. That's the first time I heard he was sick and got a call about this sick cat. They hadn't done ANY bloodwork. On an animal that wasn't eating, going potty, vomiting, and was drooling (a sign of nausea and/or extreme pain). So I was very upset. Combined with them not listening to her about the strange smell, putting him under anesthesia without anesthesia, etc. Something was wrong. It was late at night and the cat was still in pain. I told my in-laws to take him to my vet, who is open 24/7 and accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (this is a big deal). My vet was stunned that he hadn't gotten bloodwork, he was still sick, and he was barely alive. So he's back at this clinic again this morning and then, FINALLY, they take blood. What does he have? Severe kidney failure. They downplayed it to my in-laws and said "well, you can leave him here overnight but nobody will be here." as if they were supposed to let him die alone. So they took him home. They called me and I went over to their house and he was close to death. I called the ER and told them they were coming in. The ER saw the results and said he was off the charts. His kidneys were failing so fast, his liver was right behind it. My vet confirmed the suspicions that Dr. Fernandez did not do the basic bloodwork to determine this as being a bigger problem. Given that he graduated in 2011, he's got something to prove and won't consult other vets. I'm glad we didn't move our dog over to this clinic. read more

I am Mexican and I was verbally assaulted by the Vet and Secretary for arriving 10 minutes late to my appointment when I was coming from work. I had an emergency at work since I work in mental health, so I tried my very best to get to the appointment on time. I was told I had 15 minutes after my appointment time to get there before they turned me away, but they decided to verbally assault me, yelled to lecture about timeliness in front of other customers, and told me they couldn't take me anymore because I was 10 minutes late. However, they BOTH continued to argue and belittle me for another 20 minutes. Obviously the time was not the issue. My brown skin color was and they thought they could talk down to me without repercussions. Well I've filed a complaint with the Colorado Board of Veterinary Medicine to make sure this does not happen again. I encourage you to do the same if you had a bad or unprofessional experience with this establishment. read more

Took two of my girls in for progesterone tests and was turned away because the vet had a grudge against my girlfriend from over 4 years ago. He admitted that she had previously attempted to settle her debt years ago, and acknowledged that I was there offering to pay for current services, yet still turned down our business. We were forced to drive 2 Saint Bernard bitches in heat from Brighton to Littleton in 85 degrees temperature causing undue stress on the animals, and costing him another customer for life. read more

A 20+ year relationship with this practice flushed down the drain because they couldn't be bothered to pick up the phone and call me after I moved and, despite following USPS change of address procedures, the practice continued to send statements to an old address. As a result, they flushed irreplaceable extremely valuable frozen semen on two show dogs that can never be replaced. Do NOT use Brighton animal hospital - run away as fast as you can. If they cannot get the basics of customer relationship management right, why would you entrust them with your beloved pets health? Dr. Osborne has been my dogs Vet since we moved to Brighton. She is amazing with him (Cooper) and me. I had never had a dog growing up, so I am a nervous dog owner. She always returns my calls even if it is a silly question. She is also honest about what Cooper really needs treatment-wise and does not try to get me to buy additional services that are not needed. My dog recently had a back injury and they were able to get us in the day I called. We didn't wait for more than a few minutes and were taken back. The vet was very knowledgable and explained everything easily to us. We had the option of expensive imaging or to attempt medicinal treatment first; this showed me they aren't out to get as much money from you as possible. We were treated with respect and were encouraged to ask any questions. We were told to call anytime if we had questions. My family was treated with respect and friendliness. It's been 5 days and my dog is doing so much better! We paid before we left and my husband and I were pleased to have a fair and decent amount charged. This is our new veterinarian office! read more

Extremely disappointed in this place. I had a shitzu who was 18 years old. At 13 years old he developed a lump on his leg. They did a biopsy and told me it showed cancer cells. They talked about amputation I said I am not going to amputate a 13 year old dog's leg. They did give me about 3 different medications which surprisingly it worked and the bump went down to a tiny bump. I asked if it was cancer why would it go away. They really could not answer my question. My dog developed a cough in February 2020 I took him in they decided to try some medication for his esophagus and was told his heart was fine. The medication worked at first but the cough returned. In March 2020 I took my dog back in and was told he had a heart murmur and we started him on heart medicine. On Wednesday June 24, 2020 my dog was up all night his breathing was fast and hard he was definitely in distress. I called as soon as they opened on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 8:00am and told them that something is definitely wrong with him and how his breathing was and that something is not right. The girl that answered the phone told me that I would not be able to get until 10:00am. My dog ended up dying at home. I cannot believe they did not consider his condition an emergency and tell me to come in right away. I will never take any of my future dogs to this place. I walk in and this blonde girl is slouching back in her chair like she is drunk and looks at me and sais "what do u need" excuse mee?????? No smile no hi, no nothing. So I simply stated I needed to get my baby her rabies shot and she asks me if I've been there before and I said no. She then said "what did you say"? As if I said something g insulting to her. I switched to BAC when dog had a bladder infection but our previous vet wouldn't do anything until we brought a sample...after trying for 3 days we finally got a sample but it was too close to closing (~4:30 on a Friday) for the Horizon Vet techs to run the sample. Since I couldn't get help from that vet I called Brighton Animal Clinic and two techs stayed late on a Friday to run the test and get my dog the medicine she needed...all this for a dog that wasn't even a patient at their clinic!!!! I switched the next day and when we needed another sample...the techs at the new vet took care of it...instead of making me try for three days while my dog got sicker. I LOVE the vets and the vet techs at the BAC and so do my dogs! read more

I am a breeder who has had a negative experience with the Brighton ICSB. While Brighton ICSB advertises that they can do transcervical inseminations, this has not been my experience. Rather, trying to work with Brighton has cost me about $10,000 in failed breedings. My recommendation is to use the CSU Vet Teaching Hospital for reproductive work. read more

I have been going to Brighton Animal clinic for over a year now and I am very pleased. Dr. Osborne (hope I'm spelling that right) has been amazing. My dog has pretty serious allergies and a very neurotic dog mom (me). Dr. Osborne is always very helpful, gives me the best options as far as treatment (always keeping in mind that I am on a budget), and calls me back within an hour of me calling. She never jumps to the "oh you should definitely bring him in, he's sick." She will give me advice as to how I can try and treat whatever is going on at home, monitor him and then if nothing works, I would bring him in. I definitely recommend! read more

only problem I have is the price, i asked to have a paws plan sent to me so i can look it over, they sent me a old one,a $50.00 difference, made my apt, paid and went home, worked 14 hours that day, no dinner and had a sick mom so i was in a rush to leave once done. I looked at the bill when i got home and it was no the price they sent me, i called and explained it and they siad it was my fault that i should have noticed it befor i left, i explained to them the situation i even gave the girl at the desk my brochure with the lower price and she never said it was the wrong price or anything! I called and asked for the manager and she was not helpful, long story short, it was obivious my fault i was sent the wrong pamphlet ! I asked if they could just credit the difference and I would pay the full prince next time as the pamplet they sent had a different price, nope, no go, had to pay it, was totally not happy and do not know if I will be returning, they sure did not make my first visit pleasant. read more
