the week before Xmas, my otherwise healthy 13 yr old dog had come back from her walk and settled down for a nap. She got up an hour later and was unsteady. Then she started yelping and we knew something was wrong. called emergency line at vets, explained situation and asked if we could speak to Dr. Gablehouse. was told they would pass on message. 20 minutes later I had to call again but was told they hadn't had a chance to pass on message!. I told them it was urgent. long story short we took her to an emergency vet but unfortunately she passed over the rainbow bridge. never did hear back from the vet. I went in a week later and was told Dr. Gablehouse had left the practice 6 months before, why wasn't I told this and offered a different vet? Frontdesk was very nice and understanding and told me I would receive a call from their practice manager. Didn't happen. Something is very wrong here, why wasn't the message given to another vet? $90 exam fee to walk in the door is the highest I've heard of and the quality of service is not what it should be for high-end pricing. The vets don't go out of their way to justify it. My dog was having a semi-urgent issue and all they could tell me is go to urgent care. Which after my own thorough research, did not warrant immediate panic and urgent care. Using my best judgement I'm monitoring my dog for the issue and will take him to urgent care if the issue worsens. After being pretty frustrated with Laurel's pricing and service, I decided to switch to Chewy Vet in Denver, $10 per month unlimited wellness and urgent exams. read more

The day our dog was very ill bleeding from all areas while he was in the hands of a family member in their office. we brought the dog to them and they would not help!!! I had wonderful hand-written text messages keeping me in the loop when e.g., transfering records from another vet to them. Especially at the moment, when my dog needs a procedure done very soon. (From other providers I'm used to this kind of thing never working right, messages getting lost, not hearing back when they said they'd let me know.) Absolutely no complaints. I started using Laurel Vet about a year or so ago when my long standing vet told me they could see my dog for two weeks for an issue that needed immediate attention. I called Laurel and they saw my pooch same day. Laurel's staff is very kind and professional. They send any documentation I need immediately and have always accommodated last minute appointments for me. The doctors are kind and take the time to explain everything they are doing. I find their pricing in line with my old Vet. I would say if their prices are higher it's because Laurel has highly qualified vets and techs. Staff kept my cat waiting unnecessarily while she cried in her carrier on a used potty pad. Vet did not inform of finding previous medical history on my adopted cat, but listed on the invoice. The appointment was at 5pm and it was very obvious that all staff was ready to leave for the day. Overall unhappy with the entire experience. No pet of mine will visit this clinic again. read more

I moved to Broomfield 4 years ago. Laurel had good reviews then and was located very close to my home. I had just added a Puppy to our family. They were very attentive and not having had a dog for awhile I just followed their instructions and paid their fees. After a couple years I started getting email notices that my dog needed this or that. I'd call for more information and 8 out of 10 times their email was simply a suggestion. Had I not ask for more info I would have ended up paying for unnecessary services. However I stayed there. 10 months ago we added another puppy to our home. The same thing. Very nice attentive etc until my puppy became very I'll and needed immediate attention. I called and they simply said they were too busy to see her. It was a Friday. I said you're our Vet and you can't find time to see her. They suggested I take her to an emergency pet hospital but had no recommendations. I had to randomly choose one that took advantage of us in every way costing me over $1,600. Before this happened they had given me an estimate for spaying her and microchipping her when she was old enough. The estimate was over $800.00. When it was time a friend of my daughters who was a vet tech for years said that price was horrendous and to check other veterinary clinics. Everyone I called were much less. Not one over 500.00. I ended up using a vet that charged 245.00 for spaying her and 45.00 for the microchipping. I then got my two dogs records and started calling around to compare prices from office check ups to rabies vaccinations. Laurel was at least 50% more on all these services. I think the last straw was getting an email almost weekly about shopping on their new online store. Since when do veterinary clinics do side business like that. I know most sell food and product at the office but this seemed almost offensive. I called and let them know every single procedure and comparing prices from the other vets and their answer was veterinary clinics are independent and can charge whatever they'd like there was no regulating body that kept prices under control or competitive from one vet to another. Didn't even seem concerned that I had called them out on their pricing. read more

Worst Vet ever. Took my cat in because she was excessively licking her back. I was told that it was due to anxiety and "smoke sensitivity". Well it just kept getting worse until a few months later I took her in again. Now they say there may be cancer and they would charge me over 1000$ for an ultra sound. When I tried to take it up with my insurance after going to a different vet who quoted me 300 for the same ultra sound-laurel vet LIED TO THEM. And said that they discovered a lump during the first exam, BUT DIDNT TELL ME BECAUSE THEY ASSUMED IT WAS "smoke sensitivity". Save your money, they are crooks. They really don't care about you or your pet, just the money. They would rather me not get covered and lie, then going to a different provider. Awful people. read more

My husband and his family have taken their fur babies to Laurle since he was a child. I am in shock at how this company has changed and I cannot believe the amount of disrespect this company now has for their customers/patients. When Dr. Bixel owned this practice it was amazing, so amazing and helpful that Dr. Bixel himself even drove x-rays up to an emergency vet in Longmont while we were waiting there because our Catahoula had aggressive cancer. Since his departure this business has gone completely downhill. They do not care about you or your animal, they clearly only care about money. We scheduled a day for surgery and even paid our $200 down payment. They called last night and told us they would call us this morning for a time to bring our pup in for dental surgery, and x-rays. We followed their instructions and did not give him anything to eat past 9 PM then proceeded to get an aggressive (practically nasty, and mean spirited) voicemail, stating that our dog was not there at 8:07 and we would have to reschedule. When my husband called to say wait a second you told us you would call when you wanted him to be brought in they said no that is not what we said. Well I call BS and we have voicemails to prove their improper and poor actions. This was not the first time that they did this to us. They did the same thing to us 2 weeks ago and said oh oops we called the wrong patient, sorry you had to withhold food from him and take the day off whoopsie. If I were you I would never take my animal to Laurle veterinary clinic ever. The team does not give one rats ass about your animal, the only thing they care about is the dollar bills. The staff all went to the back to hide and refused to try to settle this disappointing situation. "We will have the manager call you" is all they said, oh and btw she's not in today so basically we can go screw ourselves. They didn't even say we can refund your $200, they said let's reschedule. The staff literally acted like it was our mistake and had zero solution or sympathy for what THEY made happen. This vet is terrible. Please do not take your pet here! I've used Laurel for our pets for years, and for a long time they were really great. Dr. Johnson was the best vet I have ever used, and Dr. Schuster was amazing as well. Once they left, this place has gone downhill. Last month I brought one of my cats in due to a gland abscess, and they put me in a room that had clearly not been cleaned. Peanut butter was smeared all over the exam table, and the jar was still sitting on the table as well. Additionally there was dog hair everywhere, including on the towel that they hadn't bothered to remove from the last patient. The Vet tech simply put my cats carrier on top of the peanut butter smears and dirty towel, and then he and the vet proceeded to do my cats exam on the dirty table. After they treated my cat I asked them if the condition he had was because of food, and should we switch it? The first vet told me no, that they didn't know what causes anal gland abscesses and that it was just more common in larger breeds (I have a Norwegian forest cat that weighs 15lbs). When I brought him in a week later for his follow up, I was told by another vet that it was because of food and that in order to avoid this happening again we should feed him very expensive prescription diet food. That was the last straw, they clearly just wanted money and were willing to give me erroneous information to get it. It was obvious at that moment that they didn't care about my cat or his well-being. In addition to the previously mentioned cat, we also have a 16 year old kitty that has hyperthyroid and they've treated her for years, so it's not easy going to another vet that doesn't know her history, but we're going to because this is unacceptable. read more

Dr. Lacey Jones is very professional and extraordinarily caring. She has been our veterinarian for several years. This past Saturday, their Clinic was extremely busy and our dog Kodi, was in distress. There were no appointments available and there were drop-ins ahead of us. They still allowed us to bring Kodi in and Doctor Lacey saw him between other patients. The technical assistance staff was fantastic and did everything they could to comfort Kodi. Doctor Lacey administered painkillers to help him, and would stop in to talk to us between patients as we waited to see if they would work. They also allowed us to stay with the Kodi so he wasn't alone or in a strange place and wasn't traumatized further. I cannot say enough how appreciative we are of Dr. Lacey and the staff at Laurel Veterinary Clinic. We will always be grateful and they will be our veterinarian in the future. I'm impressed with the care my dog received here when he split his paw pad open and needed same day surgery. We are new to the area and did not have a set vet. They got us an appointment ASAP and Dr. Schuster has been amazing. They fit us in for last minute bandage changes when one was falling off and another got wet. Stay away. These guys charge outrageous prices for every little thing. They find ways to set extra appointments for no reason to take advantage of their customers. They never let you know how much you will be charged then blame their long time loyal customers for wanting to know more about what they are being charged. I literally payed hundreds of dollars over the course of a few weeks for 3 minute appointments to stick a Q Tip in my dogs ears. Then they tried charging me for a "must need" fancy ear cleaner when on amazon it was half the price. It's a shame, when I first started here 4 years ago they were great. They must have changed management or something. All Yelp reviews within the last year are 1 or 2 stars. I don't even feel comfortable going back. read more

This office made a terrible situation as good as it possibly could be. My mom and I had to put down our cat amidst all the COVID craziness and this office could not have been better. They quickly found an appointment for us even though this is not our usual office. They were kind with our sweet girl and had a room set up for us to say goodbye in. Had a very poor experience at another vet, and was immediately more impressed with the care here. Everything was explained very clearly, and I was made aware of exactly what was going on, and what it would cost me. They're incredibly kind and compassionate and care deeply about what they do. Dr.Suhr is basically a superhero. I absolutely recommend this place. The prices are fair, the care is brilliant, and the people here treat you and your pet with dignity and respect. My dogs have had two appointments at Laurel Vet since we moved to Colorado and at both visits we had positive experiences with the front desk staff, vet assistants and one of the vets, Dr. Seth Sellers. We brought them in for an exam and to have all of their vaccinations updated and also had our Lab's teeth cleaned. The teeth cleaning was priced similarly to the vet we saw in Michigan, all aspects of the estimate were explained before the procedure, and Dr Sellers called part-way through to give us an update and get our authorization to administer medicine. We really miss our vet from Michigan - he was super old school - but Laurel Vet is a good replacement :) read more

Called to remind me about my appointment a million times a day but never told me any important information about my appointment such as records that they needed or what to expect. They didn't allow owners in for the appointment with their pets (as if my dog can tell them what's wrong herself) and didn't warn me about that. My dog was rescued from a traumatic household so if I would've known that information upfront I would've just taken her somewhere else but instead they completely wasted my time. They kept mispronouncing my dog's name no matter how many times I corrected them, and clearly just didn't care about me or my dog at all. read more

Tried using them a few times because they are close to my office but their operation is a mess. The last straw was when I called to get a prescription refill that was urgently needed and they told me there was nothing they could do to fill it quickly and that they would call me back in 4 hours. Never even got a call back. Other incidents included the vet insisting I get a full exam before getting a simple re-fill for a 16 y/o dog, mis-scheduled appointments, and a general sense that the client is the enemy. They do seem cheap but you get what you pay for and I'd rather cough up the extra $10 for a vet that actually cares. read more

I took my dog in to get his vaccinations renewed. We met with Dr. Susan Infante. She was very friendly and very caring towards my dog. I told her that I planned on relocating internationally in a few months and couldn't figure out all of the import requirements. She took the time to help me go through all of the paperwork that I had brought in and helped me make sense out of all of it. The main thing that I liked about this vet is that she DIDN'T try to sell me a bunch of additional services and products that my dog didn't need. I know that being a vet is a business, but you don't need to play on people's emotions to make an extra buck out of them. I would definitely recommend this vet and Dr. Infante! read more

They took our red heeler in after she started having seizures. No pet emergency happens until after 5pm! This Murphy's law. But they are open until 10pm and saw her right away. They had X-rays and blood work done in 15min and 30min from when I walked in, I had a diagnosis and was on my way home with our cherished family member. We cannot say enough good things about the entire staff at Laurel Vet!!! We take both of our dogs here and they continually go above and beyond to take care of our family and provide a warm environment for all. We mostly appreciate their personal approach! Multiple times they have taken us in within 15 minutes of calling for puppy injuries that required surgery. They then proceed to call the next day to ensure that the dog is OK and recovering well. I had been going to Laurel Vet for over 10 years, and had thought they put pets care above all. That is no longer the case, profit is their primary motive with pet care a distant 2nd. -Over a year ago i brought my dog in because of stomach issues. Vet on duty suggested a test that I was told later by Dr. Johnson the test that was preformed had no value and suggested more testing. I refused surprised the owner made no effort to offer compensation for a test of "no value". Should have left then but hoped that was just an anomaly. Unfortunately that was just the beginning - Brought my pet in for what I thought was an skin rash. Vet suggested it was due to rough play in dog park and prescribed medication. Didn't work. Brought back again after expensive testing they came back with suggested treatment to include their meds and shampoo. Again did not work. Brought him to another Vet and without testing made the correct diagnosis and prescribed meds and shampoo along with Vitamin regiment and yes it worked. Dr Johnson did not believe in vitamins as a treatment. There were continued issues with Laurel Vet and staff and after speaking to friends who said they left because of excessive charges esp when compared to other vets I felt I had no option but to leave.
