This Pet's Barn is super close to my house. It's super easy to get in and out of. The staff is really nice and always helps me carry everything out to my car. They just updated their POS system, so their rewards are not stored electronically instead of the customer having to keep up with tons of tiny papers. I noticed that the scores for Pet's Barn isn't that great. But I also noticed that the reviews are over 5 years old. So I wanted to give an update and let you know that this place is awesome. The staff are really helpful and friendly. Every time and unsolicited they always ask to carry my large dog food bags to my car. They are very knowledgeable and hard working. I drive from Fort Sam to buy my dogs food from here. It's worth the trip. And did you know that my dog loves the personalized recipe. read more

I am so happy with the food and treats I buy from pet's barn. My two boys are 15 1/2 years old and in great health. I've always fed them well but usually at a high cost monetarily. I get very healthy food and treats from pet's barn at almost half the price. I love the new system of adding specific nutrients to my dogs needs to the food. Thank you Petsbarn! Update: they also have a great supply of supplements. Started my 16 year old dog on cranberry relief by NaturVet and his Kidney numbers have improved remarkably. read more

I really hate giving small businesses crappy reviews but time and time again this place proves how unworthy they are. The items they are selling have dust and or urine caked on them from years of poor cleaning technique. That isn't so bad as the fact that I bought a bag of bird seed for my lovie when I was in a pinch and as soon as I got home and opened the bag I saw it was INFESTED with weevles. I threw out the bag ASAP and then had to repurchase food elsewhere. I am guessing if their bird food is kept in this manner that the dog and cat food is no better. Their animals seem to be in decent condition I guess but none of them are handraised which makes the transition from store animal to pet very stressful and potentially harmful to both animal and owner. read more

I was on my way to another pet store when I happened to remember how close Pet's Barn is to my house! I was just looking for a collar for my dog so I figured I'd stop by and see if they had a few. They had MORE than a few! They were quality, diverse and inexpensive! I was incredibly pleased with the price and brand of collar I got for my dog. We usually use Coastal collars and leashes because of their durability and how well they work for my fur family. I hadn't really seen them anywhere else, and was delighted to walk in and find them today! We shopped around and Brianna asked us if we needed help finding anything. I was just letting my dog pick out toys, so we just kept shopping. When she checked us out, she made sure to include information about the low cost vaccinations that are provided on certain days through Vanguard. I was so happy to hear that because I am in the veterinary industry and always love a good referral. Overall, great selection, outstanding customer service and you can keep your arm and leg at the register-- the prices are great! read more

I stopped here recently looking for food to put my dog on a diet. I walked out with a bag of their fortified food. I have senior dogs and one that is very scared of fireworks and thunderstorms. I had the food enhanced with Senior formula/Calming Formula/2 oils/ and some bacon flavor. First, they loved the food. 2nd. The dog with the anxiety over fireworks is doing much better. Still shakes but didn't pace and drool and go nuts this week. I have meds from the vet for the 4th, but this food made a huge difference this week. I am a fan, I will now only buy this food for my pets and make some homemade food for treats. I visit the Pet Barn on 78 between Converse and Kirby. It is always clean and the rep that helped me with the food was very informative and nice. read more

We love the dog food that we get from here. Our dog has allergies and joint pain so we roll in the oils with a little bacon flavor. We buy the two bags and get third free thus lower cost. They just opened a new store in Boerne and building in now Helotes which is closer to me! Great service and very knowledgeable. read more

I'm not to sure why Pet's Barn has such bad reviews. I moved to Texas about a year ago specifically the San Antonio area and I switched all of my pups (4 of them) to the Activia brand of food they sale. They have great deals on the food plus coupons and you can customize your food. They do delivery, in-store pickup, and shipping. Super easy and very convenient for my busy schedule. They do coupons with food of buy 9 bags get the 10th free, giving you coupons to keep, and they do deals on just 3 bags too where you get some money off. We always buy 6 bags at a time and it lasts us about a month with our 4 dogs. They also have dog biscuits in there too (also have deals on them) where you can buy 2 pounds get the 3rd free and you can mix the flavors and pick which treats you want. My dogs love the blueberry biscuits they have. They also do military discounts in store but you have to ask. Every store I've been to the staff has always been super nice, really helpful, and always eager to help me take my bags of food out to the car. read more

Crapy policy's! So not buy fish from this location! Put doing errands stopped to return a dead fish for replacement! All the other creatures in the tank are alive and healthy! They refused to give us a new one under warranty without a sample of water from our tank! They wouldn't make any exceptions I'm tired pregnant and miserable and will not be returning to this store ever again! Anyways what if our water is bad the policy doesn't state refusal of replacement! I declined to have water tested based on the health of the other creatures in my perfectly fine tank! They could have made one exception I don't live right next to the store it's a long treck to return for a water sample! read more

In past visits to this store has not been helpful. The staff is not at all friendly or people persons. My husband has been to this same store and has not been helped. Today I went with him and to my disappointment the cashier had a large snake wrapped around his neck. I will never visit this store ever again. Next time I might find it slithering on the floor.
