Absolutely disgusted with Pets at Home regarding their adoption process! My recent experience has been nothing short of a nightmare, and their customer service is an absolute disgrace.
A few days ago, I adopted a rabbit from their Braintree Store. I was assured by their staff that she was healthy and ready for her new home. Imagine my horror when, just three days later, she was diagnosed with a life-threatening parasite by our own vet! (losing use of both her rear legs) This negligence on Pets at Home's part, in failing to properly health-check an animal before adoption, has not only put my new pet's life at serious risk but has also landed me with a staggering £300 vet bill.
Adding insult to injury, when I went back to the store to address this issue, the manager was incredibly rude and unhelpful. Instead of showing any concern, I was dismissively told to contact customer services. So, I did. Initially, customer services representatives assured me that they would cover the vet bills. Relief washed over me, only to be snatched away a mere 15 minutes later when they called back to retract their promise! This level of incompetence and blatant disregard for the well-being of the animals they rehome, and the distress caused to new owners, is appalling.
Pets at Home clearly failed in their responsibility to ensure the health of an animal before adoption, and their subsequent handling of the situation has been utterly unacceptable. Their assurances of the rabbit's health were clearly false, their in-store manager was dismissive, and their customer service representatives offered false hope. I would strongly advise anyone considering adopting an animal from Pets at Home to think twice. This experience has been traumatic and costly, and I wouldn't want any other potential pet owner to go through the same ordeal. Avoid at all costs! read more
