In NI we are accustomed to thick, heavy batter with a hard outer shell at either end and often a layer of dough underneath. In England, I can be fairly confident about getting very light batter which is neither hard nor undercooked. You can also order over the phone and then go in to collect it. The food is second to none and the prices are exceptional. I like the fact that the staff are very helpful and will even account for the size of the fish that they have in at the time, ie. You often get 2 pieces for the price of 1 if they are small. I enjoy getting a take away from here, usually once a month and find now that it is the only fish and chip shop that I visit.
