I've been working at the construction site down the street from this establishment for over a year so I used to go to this gas station quite a bit. Every time I pay with cash they rip me off a penny or two. I didn't notice it at first but I caught on a few times after I was given a couple cents short. They do this every time when you pay cash. Literally penny pinchers at this place. I called the guy at the register out on it and he gave me the correct change after a bit of arguing pretending he was clueless. This car wash is a disappointment. $14 and it looks like I just sprayed down my car with a garden hose. I had to rewash the windshield at the pump. I assumed the $14 drive through "car wash" would also entitle me to use the vacuums like a normal car wash place, that's not the case here at Petromerica. It's an extra $1.50 for the vacuum which was hardly functioning because it was clogged with so much debris and shut off when I was halfway done using it on my car. I think Body Beautiful charges $20 but they wash it, vacuum it and when you are finished, it looks like you got your car washed. Of course the location of Petromerica car wash has the added benefit of homeless derelicts harassing customers for money, so you get a little excitement with your (not) car wash but I think for me it was a total waste of money. Maybe an industrious homeless person could start offering to do the detail work that the "car wash" misses...like the windows, wheels and body? read more

Normally I have a decent experience with the car wash and the workers here when I have a problem but today was just too much. I get in line after nearly being clipped by a truck driver zooming to get in the line again before me and waited probably 10-15 minutes for my turn. I pay at the machine while the truck gets washed and everything is set until the truck somehow causes a glitch when he rushes out the wash before the machine is back and the green light let's him know he can go. I noticed that my green light outside is no longer flashing for me and when I try to go in after he leaves, the machine wants me to pay again and it won't start up. Annoyed, I walk around to the store and tell the clerk who looks confused (it's not the first time this car wash has had problems, come on man) but tells me to pull around and he'll give me a new code when it's my turn again. Getting a bit pissed that I now have to wait for 2 more cars to go again but hoping I can get it done and get home, I agree and go around and wait. When it's my turn, I walk back around to inform him and he tells me that he checked the machine record and it shows I didn't pay. Umm what? I'm pretty sure my wallet begs to differ and I did put 7 dollars in for my regular wash. I told him that I did and he kept going on about the machine record and basically implying I'm trying to steal a damn car wash. Listen here, I don't need to steal a 7 dollar car wash, and I don't need to wait like 30 minutes to do it when I got my dogs in the car. I told you the machine glitched out and you can open up the thing and give me my money. He grudgingly gave me my car wash I PAID for. I'm honestly really insulted and I'll be looking for another quick gas station/drive thru car wash for when it's needed because people who try to take my money are where I don't frequent. read more

So, I drive up to the car wash. There's a car parked right in front of the entrance and it's not moving. The owner is outside of his car, shaking his head and looking at the car. After about a minute, I get out to see what's wrong. Me: Is everything okay? Clueless dude: The car wash is broken. It just shoots water up underneath the car. Me (starting to get back in my car): Okay. CD: Do you think it's okay? Me: Do I think what's okay? CD: My car. It shot water up right at my engine. Me: Yeah dude, I don't think a quick stream of water is going to hurt your engine. If it's still running then you're okay. CD: But I saw smoke coming out from it! Me: That was probably steam. Your engine is hot. CD: Oh yeah... I wish there was another car wash close to my house. Not only does this place have a crappy car wash that is broken two out of three times that I try to use it, but now each trip here actually makes me dumber. Also, the gas pump area is always super-crowded. The only advantage to this place is that it is close to the downtown 94 access and the 5 South on-ramp. If you do get gas here, though, be quick. In the beginning this place was pretty good. Staff are nice enough and besides the throng of eastern european cab drivers swapping soviet stories I always found a stall pretty quickly. I came here all the time, but this place hasn't fixed their card readers in MONTHS. I was in a bit of a rush today when I realized that ALL of the card readers around me were out. I walked in and he said the card reader on #3 was working. I went outside, moved my car, and #3 card reader was broken as well. Came back inside and told him that was broken too. He said "it's broken because so many people use it, NO PROBLEM just tell me how much you want and I'll charge your card for it... if it's over come back in and i'll charge your card back that amount.. it's easy!" Really? Easy is when you have a card reader that can read your card at the pump and you can authorize the credit card. AND THEN when you're done pumping gas, it will automatically (whoa!) charge the EXACT amount of gas you bought so you don't ever have to wait in your line! It's amazing! But I know... Near a large homeless encampment, the gas station is run down and feels "exposed". If you're by yourself at night, I would imagine you would want to skip this spot. The pumps take credit card and the price per gallon was competitive. This gas station consistently has the most affordable prices between the Arco, and 76 gas station in the same block. I usually go to the 76 because i believe their gas is superior so i don't mind spending the extra money to gas up. This gas station however has something that the 76 does not have, a car wash. Although the car wash itself looks kind of sketchy and old it left my car looking better than the far more expensive car wash i usually get at Pearl Car Wash in City Heights. PLUS if you spend 10 dollars in gas (which you will) you get a dollar off the car wash, whats not to love about that. read more

I have been to this car wash twice now since it is the only car wash near my house and both experiences have been absolutely terrible. My last one in particular. Initially I bought the premium wash and half way through the wash, it completely stopped... leaving my car soapy and wet. I decided to go elsewhere because the gas station attendant refused to listen to me. The second time I decided to let the gas attendant know that his machine was broken and I needed a refund. He refused saying "if I give you a refund I will be out 8 dollars" not even caring that I had just paid for a Premium wash only getting half a wash. With my car still soaking wet I asked him to please refund me the money or to provide another wash. He refused saying "fuck you, I do not owe you anything" I brought my fiancé in to talk with the guy because it was obvious there was no reasoning with him.
