As fat as truck stops go, Petro is pretty average. The restrooms are clean, the prices were fair, and it was relatively easy to get on and off 55. The food options were just okay. Their kitchen with the hot meal was cafeteria like, and Charley's has decent fast food. Not many healthy options but plenty of snacks. This Petro is so well maintained I love coming here. There are so many parking spots but it does get full pretty quickly at night. Inside this travel center it has Dunkin' Donuts, a Verizon store, and a Charley's restaurant. The drivers lounge has plenty of showers along with 2 separate areas to enjoy watching a movie or sports. There's about 4 washers and 8 dryers and a folding table but no chairs. The restrooms are clean and are located near Charley's restaurant. There is a sitting area outside in front of the entrance if you wanted to eat outdoors or just rest. The cashier does greet almost everyone coming in. Got trailer light fixed n annual inspection for trailer. Girl scout cookies here if u will. They dont taste real compared to 23yrs ago. They taste like crackers lmao. #10/2023 The Petro at Wilmington one of the newer stopping centers less than 10 years old. Been through the wringer both ways This one lost its buffet before covid restaurant closed due to staffing and completely gone for over a few years. What they do have though for the longest time was Charlie's cheesesteak franchise which is really good I've been here many times there's pictures up too I enjoy this one. The TA Petro corporation did decide however to put in one THE KITCHEN concepts. They are basically utilizing the old kitchens and restaurants but putting in full food such as breakfast lunch and dinner but without servers kind of hot cafeteria style but better quality. I had A very good meal more of a lunch closer to dinner with all the stuff I piled at they're a little high some people say $16 for a full meal which is too meat your potato or rice and vegetables but it is what it is they're kind of competitive. If you want bread you got to pay a buck 49 for it. The portions are nice size though you can't really beat it it cost me almost 25 bucks because I had a delicious Salisbury steak on a bed of rice with brown gravy all over it corn but I also decided to spend an extra 649 cuz they had their other entree which was stuffed peppers and I wanted one. So would have only been about 16 bucks but it's all good I enjoyed it. Recommended Peak hours so when the food is very fresh. As far as the rest of the travel center it's keeping the three stars because the bathrooms they usually try to keep them clean but sometimes they don't the staff is sort of depending on who's working they've run a lot of turnover here and some can be just working for the check and some can be quite well. A lot of times the food they don't really check their hot warmer in the store part and it tends to expire and they don't say anything sometimes you have to get on them to get coffee so basically it's a three-star middle of the road petro. It is full truck stop it does have showers scales a shop out back ta repair and all the other stuff you come to expect with a Petro stopping center they have a little Verizon kiosk in here too like a lot of them do. read more

My car showed low oil. I was in Rochelle, IL on a Sunday afternoon. I had to drive 70 miles to get home. Petro was recommended to me by some people I just spent time with. I went there and they only had oil for trucks. These wonderful mechanics went across the street and got oil for my car and added it for me. I am so grateful as I know nothing about cars and was afraid to get on the interstate with the low oil showing on my dashboard. That was service above and beyond and I am so very grateful to these wonderful people. read more

Tristan, the manager on duty at Charley's made me feel like my sandwich being made incorrectly wasn't an issue that he cared about, or was willing to resolve. He doesn't value customer satisfaction, and doesn't need to be working with your establishment. I have NEVER had a bad customer service experience at one of your locations. When I said, "I'm calling corporate.". He gave me the impression that nothing would be done. Please do yourselves and Tristan a favor by terminating his employment. He doesn't represent your brand. Maybe he will then grasp the concept that without a businesses customers, there is no BUSINESS. I had to give a star that wasn't deserved. Brand spankin' new location, so it's very clean and organized on the inside. There's a few downfalls already, but I think the good outweighs the bad so far. Plenty of snacks and drinks to choose from, including a fairly decent array of alcoholic beverages for being a truck stop. There's a cooler section with sandwiches and salads made on site, as well as burgers, dogs, wings, and personal pizzas in the warmer next to the coffee bar and roller grill. Prices are pretty reasonable, except that there are no fresh condiments to put on sandwiches or hot dogs. The salads are huge and less than $5, however, they only come with one packet of dressing and no individual packets in the cooler. If you ask the Iron Skillet, they'll give you an extra though, which is really nice of them. Coffee bar is about the same as the rest, but they must not have ordered enough cappuccino the first time around, as two of the four flavors were out already. One awesome thing about this location is that they have a Charley's Steaks. Lots of ways to customize a chicken or beef cheese steak, plus loaded fries. Expect to pay about $8 or so for a small sub, fries, and drink, but the flavor is worth it. Cashiers at the Petro registers are still learning and the checkout process takes longer than average, but they're pretty friendly. All in all, a decent place to stop short of Chicago if you're on 55. read more
