    Fuel Desk at the Petro.
    Kent M.

This truck stop is the former Steel City location. It is currently undergoing major facility renovation and may not have all amenities available. The street front buildings are permanently closed and will be replaced with a new Petro facility, typical of the Petro Stopping Centers around the country. That said, here is what they currently offer for the traveler: 20 diesel fuel bays, 2 CAT scales side by side, 401 transient truck parking spaces. The fuel desk is spartan - not much more than coffee and sodas and a few snacks. Porta-potty, and no showers at this time. Friendly employees. Parking doesn't ever seem to fill up here at night. With the close proximity to local steel mills and the Chicago region, this is a convenient stop for trucks traveling through.

When you are a trucker or (trucker's wife), you understand how rare it is for a trucker to say that they are "pleasantly surprised" at a truck-stop, and a huge chain one at that. That's exactly what I was....pleasantly surprised. This place is obviously brand new because it's still clean and the employees haven't become disgruntled yet. We didn't park here overnight so I can't comment on that but I did shower and I was so happy that the water pressure was intense and the shower room was roomy and CLEAN and was just replenished with fresh towels, straight from the dryer. The shower attendant even made it his mission to get me into a shower with a hair dryer AND give us extra towels without me having to ask. This particular Petro has a Taco Bell, a Pizza Hut and your typical Iron Skillet. The Iron Skillet is also brand new and has plentiful seating and is decorated nicely. The buffet was fresh when we ate there and had fried and grilled chicken, beef stew, corn, green beans, lasagna, pasta Alfredo, three kinds of cake, hot rolls, two kinds of hot soup, and a fresh salad bar with fruit and pudding. I was pleased. Our servers were absolutely wonderful. They stopped to check on us every few minutes and we never went without anything. THIS is what excellent service is, people. If you aren't in the mood for Iron Skillet or fast food, check out the deli in the general store and at the Iron Skillet. The general store deli has hot dogs, burritos, and egg-roll looking things. The Iron Skillet has sandwiches, salads with fresh boiled eggs, candy galore, fresh fruit and chocolate. It also has TWO driver's lounges with nice comfortable chairs and huge flat-screen televisions, laundry, video arcade games, and a lot of steel-related decor as this is a high steel traffic area. I highly recommend this place for the weary traveler and the trucker as you'll find everything you need here and you'll find it with a smile from the employees. I'll be back.

Cabbage bean and beef soup. Yum!

Nice new place with Taco Bell and Iron Skillet inside. Big shopping area for all that grab and go stuff. Wall full of electronics. Huge parking lot. Theres a nice sitting area out back with flowers and benches for you to sit and enjoy the sunshine or your "to go" order. :) Service was speedy and employees were nice. The place was clean. Gorgeous rest rooms - fancy!

Long awaited. Nice clean stop. Had dinner with my sister at the Iron Skillet. I had the double fried chicken with mashed potatoes and house gravy. It is so nice to get food that actually cooked from scratch . Prices are reasonable. Nice place for a laid back lunch or dinner. ( let's or forget breakfast)

Super convenient location on drives from IL-IN and vice versa. Easy to get on and off the highway here. It's also patrolled by security.

Here is what I was told after asking many questions over a few phone conversations with Michael... - The car was in good condition - The previous owner owned it for a long time and took good care of it - The ABS light was on due to the ABS module being removed - There was one small ding under rear trunk lid - This was a non-smokers car They picked me up at the airport (20 min away from dealership), Here's the list in order of what I found when we pulled up... - The car was already running when we pulled up. I was told battery was dead so needed a jump. - Remote for doors did not work - Rear left door didn't open. At all. - Opened drivers door, sat down, smelled like a humidor. Reeked of cigar smoke - Drivers seat broken. Right side of the 'back' was 2" farther to the rear then the left side of the seat. You're back is being forced to the right side of the car. - Check engine light on - Low coolant light on - Traction control light on - Oil pressure indicator was blinking with the car idling and there was a message on the digital dash screen that said "STOP!ENGINE OILPRESS" So. Michael explains that this can happen when a battery goes dead. He's right. It can, so I take off for a drive. Here's what I learned... - Front suspension shot. It was so loose, taking curves on and off the highway was scary - Tires shot - Brakes warped. Hit the brakes, and the car shudders to a stop So not too surprisingly, I decided I wasn't buying this car. But the best part was after I told Michael this, he starts looking up the phone number for the cab company... THEY CAN'T GIVE ME A RIDE BACK TO THE AIRPORT RIGHT NOW. There's no one that can take me. Maybe in a couple hours? There's Michael, there's another salesman, there's the guy running the place, and there's a shop full of guys in the back. NICE. In conclusion, Luxury Auto Exchange cost me $575 for two one way tickets AND a cab ride between Minneapolis and Chicago so I could learn that these guys, though very friendly on the phone, have no problem mis-representing their cars to get you there regardless of what it's costing that person in the first place. Is not disclosing information lying? I did expressly ask about it being a non-smoking car and that answer was a complete lie. Maybe next time I'll ask if every warning light on the dash is on. Many good reviews for this place but not from me. Thanks for reading and good luck.

I have paid in full already, but my car is not here. I found out that George was lying to be about the shipment company, because he told me every week they are coming to pick up the car and they had to reschedule. But I found out the company, called them, and they said he gave them a low-ball offer to pick up the car so they never agreed to ship it! When I call him and email him, he is rude and says I am wasting his time. When I say my car has been paid in full and he agreed to ship it, he says he is a "very resourceful and diligent guy". I can use quite the opposite adjectives to describe him. He is a con-man. I am not sure if I am getting my $182,500 back I spent on my luxury car. It has been 1 month since I purchased it and he doesn't ship it. Each week he has a different excuse, and he tells me he will follow up but never does. Quite the service for buying a luxury car from "Luxury Auto XChange". Read his other reviews on here, they all say he is dishonest and doesn't provide adequate service. I agree. I have hired an attorney, the Illinois Attorney General! UPDATE: car was delivered, but with only 1 key, no mats, no books, as was supposed to be delivered. I have contacted George but he continues to lie. AND George owed me $1400 for back taxes he didn't pay for the car prior to me purchasing it, that I reluctantly paid at the DMV when I Took possession of the vehicle. After 6 months of the Attorney General prodding George and Luxury Auto XChange to send the check, they did. Guess what, I went to cash it the day after and it was a "bad" check. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The attorney is having fun with this case :)

The sent a text a day or two before to rental inviting me to enter my driver's license information to reduce my time at the counter, but there's no way that actually saved me time. I was at the counter for 10-15 minutes waiting. The only reason I give them three stars is because they had a minivan and honored that reservation--unlike Hertz, which I originally rented from and called me on Friday for a Monday rental to tell me they wouldn't have the car I rented. Though I will say that whilst I was waiting at the counter for the car (after she had called to the garage or whatever to request they get a minivan ready) the employee asked me if a seven passenger SUV would work or if it had to be a van, so that did not make me happy. In the end, however, they provided me with the van that I had rented. The car smelled weird, though, at least to me. If I was flying into O'Hare, it probably wouldn't be an issue to get a car. But as a resident, it's a hassle. The only vehicles that are permitted to enter area rental car building are shuttle buses, so if you have someone pick you up or take a taxi or ride share, you have to meet them in the kiss and fly lot at the end of the building. It was a bit of a hassle getting a Lyft to figure out where I was after the cab that the Avis woman had called (which was going to charge me $27 to drive fewer than four miles to my home) didn't show up. It also makes drop-off difficult; the friend who dropped me off took me to the rental garage because we didn't know any different and so I had to hop out in a weird spot in the garage to find my way. Hopefully if you rent from there and you read this, you'll know to have them drop you at the kiss and fly. All this is to say, I would rather rent from a free-standing car rental location than mess about at the airport.

Everyone I have dealt with has been courteous & very helpful & able to provide exactly what I have come for. I give them 5 Stars. I wish I could say the same about the service Dept for maintenance. The Castle Honda service is about as useless as anyplace I have ever been to. First of all as a dealer they charge so much more for any type of maintenance then other mechanics. I went here today to try and find information on the code for the navigation system in my car. I called and they said to look in the manual for the code so I poured through the Navigation manual & the owner manual trying to find the 4 digit code unable to find it I made a trip to the service dept hoping that they could show me where the information was in the manual. When I walked in the guy sitting at the desk was doing nothing. I asked him if he knew where the information was. While he was flipping pages he asked me if I bought the car there. When I told him NO I didn't he seemed to lose any interest or desire to even assist me. The only other time I used Castle Honda they did a half assed job on a repair for my car that needed work to fix it about a 1 1/2 weeks later. I was in Hyde Park at the time when my car alternator & battery died. I had to have my car towed into the Honda Dealer Downtown on 1111 N Clark Street leave the car & take an Uber home. The only reason I came here is because it's the closest Honda Dealer to my house. NEVER AGAIN
