Gas costs more here than the place two doors down. Playing the corporate cash grab so you have to see cashier (past all sorts of things for sale!) to pump gas. You cannot pay at the pump. Cashier played the game of which pump is yours. The only one with a car in the middle of the.day. Nope, it had to be a number. Since I had to go back to my car anyways, it was quicker and cheaper to get gas next door. read more

My husband and I visited the Portage, Wisconsin location today. The bathrooms were not only disgusting, but a health hazard. Every stall in both the men's and women's restrooms had smeared fecal matter on the walls. The ladies room had blood on several of the toilet seats and the entire bathroom reeked of urine. We were planning on visiting the restaurant, but when we alerted the attendant to the state of the bathroom we were met with a shrug and a "we're short staffed". I totally understand that help is hard to find, but at that point we didn't trust the cleanliness of the kitchen and had to drive to the next available stop for food. read more

A perfectly adequate truck stop. It's easy to spot from the highway, there's plenty of parking, bathrooms were fine, and you've got a few food choices. If you're a truck driver you've got amenities like showers, laundry, and a semi service station. I stopped after dark on a Sunday night and it was pretty dead. Service at the DQ was super slow so we didn't take a spin through the shopping area because we wanted to get back on the road. There are some...interesting...decorations like stuffed toddlers and a sketchy looking bear, but that just gives it some roadside flair. Not a must-stop by any means, but it serves its purpose. read more

The only reason for three stars is the cleanness of the place,outside and in.Showers and bathrooms are dirty and molded.The food selection is pretty decent.The iron skillet here is not the worst or best I have had and I have had alot of truck stop food.The only thing is they stop putting out freash food on night buffet three hours before it closes,not smart for a truck stop,but there's always plenty of parking. read more

Pump is prepay, which is awesome when it's -20°. After paying the clerk, we came back out and started pumping. Went back inside to buy coffee and water. Walked back out 5 minutes later and it had only gotten to 3 gallons. Going on minute 10 and the pump is now at $18 and moving slower than before. read more

We stopped here this morning and was greeted warmly. I'm a difficult customer I know it, but I like thing my way. Our waitress was very kind and had no problem placing my order my way. The manager stopped by and greeted us with true concern NICE. Our food was perfect and the salad a bar was immaculate. I was so happy with our service I placed a hundred dollar tip on my card, and may I add I don't have a lot of money or it would have been more. The plaza it's self was nice shower need to be remodeled. The iron skillet needs lots of help after long day on the road just wanted a hot meal. We seat down took 15 mins for our drink and 25 to get our salad and soup the soup was warm but not hot. Waiter never asked us how we would like our steak cooked one of us asked for fries and got mashed potatoes. Both the steaks where dry and very crispy on the outside, the mashed potatoes looked like they had been cooked way before the steak. One of the cooks had to come out the kitchen to help wait tables. read more

The reviews on here are pretty adequate. It's hit or miss. My experience, Food was good (what they actually had) service was substandard. Don't get me wrong, the Waitress was friendly, just not attentive. Never came to fill our drinks. Didn't bring toast with our meal (breakfast). Didn't bring the extra gravy I asked for. The facility was clean. Not an overall horrible experience, just not great. It's becoming more the norm. read more

Perfectly acceptable Interstate gas station. Plenty of fueling stations. Clean restrooms. C-store selection is what is needed for a quick pit stop. Not a bad place to stop if in need of fuel in the area. read more

Good stop for drivers. Always parking and tons of cheese curd flavors reasonably priced to take back home. I really like it here.

Normally known for their awesome chicken fried steak - today's visit was extremely disappointing! They changed suppliers or something and this meal was disgusting!! My husband and I ate at the Portage Petro early Easter afternoon. We have eaten there many times over the years. The price was up $2. from last year and SORRY to say, NEITHER last year or this year were gravely DISAPPOINTED. For the price there certainly was NOTHING SPECIAL, concidering it was EASTER SUNDAY!! The food was not on the Hot side, except for the soups. We did not have a good experience in 2017, but thought we would give another try for 2018. We really enjoy this truck stop as a half way point between where we live in Minnesota and family in Chicago. We've stopped often in our RV, making this our stop for the night. In the morning, we can pay for a shower (soap and towels included) and then have breakfast at the Iron Skillet restaurant. Service isn't fast but the food has always been good and has that home-cooked taste. read more
