This is where my Spain culinary journey ended. I spent 9…read morenights between Barcelona, Madrid and Santiago de Compostela and was able to get a reservation to do 8 menu tastings. I ended up getting in to another one unscheduled so it became a total of 9. This was hands down the best one of all 9. All around. From where they seated me which was right in front of the kitchen where I got to watch the whole team prepare everything. To ALL the wine I indeed up downing. To how beyond delicious every dish that came out was - and there was a total of 8, 6 food and 2 desserts. The experience starts with a refreshing mocktail paired with a spoon of whatever that was that opened up my palate and got me ready for what was ahead of me. After the soup was the tastiest oyster I've ever had in my life. It was so tasty and perfectly seasoned. I loved every bite of every single plate that got dropped off. Don't even get me started on their brioche. It was so good I got another piece. The gambitas was super delicate it practically melted in your mouth. The next two dishes were so bomb that I was so full by the time we got to the chicken. After that were the two desserts. The service was above and beyond. From the moment I sat down, to the in between dishes where someone comes by to clean up your area or checks in to make sure everything was going well, to my exit- the whole staff were so accommodating. The sommelier took such great care of me. He was challenged after I specifically asked to only be given Spanish wine. Chef Marcelo takes the time to speak to every diner. He made sure to check in here and there and he sends you off at the end of your meal. Truly, one of the best experiences. I can't wait to come back to see what other dishes Chef Marcelo has come up with.

For our party of seven, we had to split into two groups so we could be seated with minimal wait. Alcachofas Crocantes Con Labras De Xamón Ibérico - Sometimes we had to order a veggie dish and it becomes an easy choice when there's meat involved. Can't go wrong here with the Iberian ham. The crispness of the artichokes was amazing. Fideos Negros De Sepia Da Ría Con Alioli - This was our first time having fideo and we were glad they had the squid ink variety on their menu. I would have preferred it to be a bit drier, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. It had plenty of cuttlefish and green peas and a nice dollop of aioli. Zamburiñas Á Prancha - These were the biggest scallops that we've had all week. They were grilled and torched at the top for an even better char flavor. Solombo De Vaca Premium (200 grams) Con Verduriñas Salteadas E Patacas - A 7-oz. cut of their premium beef tenderloin, grilled medium, and lightly sprinkled with coarse salt. Very soft and tasty that made it a sin having to split the meat four ways. It was served with sautéed vegetables and potatoes. Entrecosto De Vaca Premium (300 grams) Con Verduriñas Salteadas E Patacas - A bigger cut of their premium beef sirloin and came with sautéed vegetables and potatoes also. It came out precut into bite-sized slices so it was easier to share. It was perfectly grilled too, but the texture of the solombo got my vote. Food this good was the fitting end to our once-in-a-lifetime accomplishment. The mom-owner was very kind and accommodating which made our final Galician meal even better. Our group of seven had to part ways early the next day so we said our goodbyes after dinner. It was Lisbon and Porto for the others while my wife and I were headed to the Andalusian region. Fun times... Good adventures... Great friends... ¡Hasta pronto!

We were in raincoats and Gortex shoes, but they could only do so much. We all broke down in tears when we made the turn from Arco de Palacio to Plaza del Obradoiro because there it was, the archcathedral, standing gallantly on our left. We hugged each other, said a prayer, took some photos, got our compostela (certificate), and then looked for a place to eat. From the plaza, we headed down Rúa do Franco and landed at A Taberna do Bispo. There was a long wait to seat our party of seven together, so we ended up on two tables. Champiñones A La Plancha - These griddled button mushrooms were the perfect way to get our veggies in. Boquerones En Vinagre - These were the herbiest anchovies we had during our camino. They were served with green and purple olives. Calamarcitos A La Plancha - Just like the mushrooms and anchovies, these grilled baby squids were served in olive oil with herbs. They were very tender and tasty. Mejillones - We finally got steamed mussels done properly. So much better than the ones we had at Sarria. Solomillo De Terneira Montaditos - These veal tenderloins were awesome. Perfectly seared medium-rare, each was served on bread and topped with shishito pepper. Vieira A La Plancha Con Langostinos - Lovely to look at, heaven to eat - that's how to best describe this dish! Each half-shell scallop had two plump prawns and they were grilled and drizzled with the same olive oil concoction they used in the other dishes. So delicious! The restaurant was elegant-looking and had the vibe of a tourist trap, but we did not regret going here. There were other items on the menu that we could have tried, but we simply would not have been able to finish if we did. Our server was very friendly and had plenty of recommendations, one of which was the scallop. We were so glad we ordered them!

We ordered cold bottled beers, which were refreshing after the long day, ham, and of course, we had to try the octopus. It was tender and flavorful--definitely a highlight of the meal! The ambiance was lively, and the service was prompt, though it got a bit crowded as the afternoon went on. Overall, a great place to experience local flavors in a bustling atmosphere. I'd gladly return!

The service was great, and the prices were pretty much in range with other places in the area. We visited during the tail-end of lunch hours, so it was pretty easy to get a spot in the plaza (fortunately, we had a great weather during our trip). While our spread of seafood dishes (octopus, mussels, and something else I cannot remember) was great, the razor clams were my favorite - these probably were my favorite because they are somewhat difficult to find in the States.

You can order a simple cafe or double cappuccino to a breakfast special of double flat white, freshly squeezed OJ and two eggs with bacon (nowhere near as fatty as American bacon) for 11 euros. I got the eggs and bacon scrambled and ordered pan con tomate for the acidity (Next time I come to Spain, I will bring a personal bottle of El Tapatio hot sauce). I didn't need to eat again until 7-8 pm. We returned for dinner at 7:30. (by 9 pm, the place is full of locals). We ordered the warm salad (mixed lettuces with warm shrimp and scallops and a pan fried serving of goat cheese, simply dressed with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar), grilled langoustines (7 large head on langoustines for 15 euros...what a deal) and an order of pan con tomate (huge serving that could feed 3-4 people). With a glass of wine and a beer, the price was 42 euros (again, a bargain). Dinner portions are generous and each can easily serve two. They also do lunch...but that may be on another visit. The only "complaint" that we had was that we had to ask for the bill a couple of times and instead of waiting for someone to come to the table to take payment (which happened at every restaurant in Barcelona, Bilbao and San Sebastián), we had to walk up to the counter to pay. Clearly, they were not worried about turning over the tables as quickly as possible, which was refreshing
