The seasoning was spot on and the aioli on top was a wonderful addition. A great creamy Galician beef with peppers rice was very umami and the beef was beautifully braised. Our third dish was Cuttlefish in ink with smashed potatoes and a fried egg. A unique dish that tasted of the briny ocean. It was topped off with a three cheese cheesecake that while delicious was more of a custard. The wine list shows off the local wines and we enjoyed some spectacular Albariño's. The service was a little slow but made for a nice relaxing 2 hour lunch.

The interior of the restaurant gave me a nice old school and homey vibe with its exposed stone walls that kind of matched the general rustic vibe of Santiago. Fortunately for us we visited during an off peak hour and were able to nab a couple of seats at the bar without a wait. We thought the servers were very friendly and definitely made sure that we were well taken care of. For instance, we never had to wait more than five minutes to get refills of wine and plates of food. Although I do not remember exactly what we had, I do not recall being disappointed with the food. Oh wait, I do remember that the zamburiñas were delicious. In fact, I think after having our first plate of zamburiñas, we order another serving towards the end of our meal. ;) In terms of price, the restaurant was a bit more expensive than a couple other local places, but it was not anything too outrageous especially as tourist.

Be prepared to speak Galician (we do) - the service will be even better and friendlier. Although set in the casco vello or medieval part of Santiago, the restaurant is not afraid to try some intriguing dishes such as algae salad with sweetened balsamic vinegar (really healthy) or sea urchin omelette. Dessert can be good as well. Reasonable prices, very nice atmosphere with stone walls. However, if you have noisy children, or sit near them, the inner area can get a bit loud toward the end of your meal. Go early, get to know the people there - a lot of regulars stop by for apperitifs. Not far from the cathedral and other parts of the historic area of this city that is becoming too full of tourists for my taste.

The restaurant opens at 7:00 p.m. for dinner, earlier than the customary 8:00 p.m. Spanish dinner hour. Complimentary appetizers of potato chips (crisps) and olives were served, an excellent touch! I ordered a Pizza Arrabbiata, which was a pepperoni pizza. It was 34 cm, just a bit larger than an American 12 inch pizza, but similarly designed as an individual serving for dinner. The pizza was excellent, cooked in the Neapolitan style. A little spicier than similar American pizzas. My wife ordered Ravioli ai Quattro Formaggi (four cheese ravioli) and enjoyed it. Very reasonably priced. Located in the historic district and recommended for lunch or dinner.

We are from California and with some patience from our waiter we ordered peppers, paella and steak. Coke zero and a bottle of Albariño completed our order. The steak came still sizzling and perfectly cooked medium rare. Lean and very flavorful. As good as every thing was, the highlight for me was the paella. Beautiful. Langostinos sitting on top of a large bowl of rice with chorizo fish chunks peppers onions and probably some other things I missed. Absolutely the best paella I've had. I highly recommend this restaurant.
