Italian owned, authentic and very friendly. Excellent caprese and good variety of savory pizzas. Healthly variety of Spanish and Italian wines. After 5 days of Caldo Gallego, this pizza was a very welcome change on arrival to Santiago de Compostela.
This Italian restaurant is now named La Piccola Italia. We ate at the downstairs tavern room, though there is also an upstairs dining room. The restaurant opens at 7:00 p.m. for dinner, earlier than the customary 8:00 p.m. Spanish dinner hour. Complimentary appetizers of potato chips (crisps) and olives were served, an excellent touch! I ordered a Pizza Arrabbiata, which was a pepperoni pizza. It was 34 cm, just a bit larger than an American 12 inch pizza, but similarly designed as an individual serving for dinner. The pizza was excellent, cooked in the Neapolitan style. A little spicier than similar American pizzas. My wife ordered Ravioli ai Quattro Formaggi (four cheese ravioli) and enjoyed it. Very reasonably priced. Located in the historic district and recommended for lunch or dinner. read more

Saw paella on the menu and had to try this place. Got a table in the very back for three. Quiet on this rainy night. We are from California and with some patience from our waiter we ordered peppers, paella and steak. Coke zero and a bottle of Albariño completed our order. Although it took a little while we were served some bread and soon after that our peppers. Big fan of the roasted peppers. Slight bell pepper flavor but not hot. The steak came still sizzling and perfectly cooked medium rare. Lean and very flavorful. As good as every thing was, the highlight for me was the paella. Beautiful. Langostinos sitting on top of a large bowl of rice with chorizo fish chunks peppers onions and probably some other things I missed. Absolutely the best paella I've had. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

We searched for a true Italian restaurant for our final night in Spain as we have had more than enough seafood and Galician fare. We found Gambrinus - an amazing find. The proprietor, Franco, is from Florence, having moved here 25 years ago. The food is authentic!! The pasta is fresh and uniquely delicious. The pasta ragú was perfect and just the right amount of spice. The ravioli pasta Tirolesi was amazing. Not a pasta we've ever had, but my son ordered it and it was perfection. If you are in he mood for a delicious dinner, this is THE place to be. Loved it and highly recommend a stop here at the end of your Camino! Almost forgot - the tiramisu is straight out of Venice! And the profiteroles will disappear in no time too! read more
