NO integrity, NO honestly, AND NOT trustworthy. DONT USE THEM!! The owner of this company is a terrible person and does not care about anyone but themselves when doing business. This company's tow truck was driving south on I294. The truck was going 20 MPH over the speed limit. My car was behind the tow truck. A piece of wood from the back of the truck fell off and hit my windshield. Was lucky was not severely hurt. It did break my windshield. I filed a police report with a state trooper right away which included the tow truck lic plate # and location. Tow truck company was contacted right away. As well as followed up with. They would not talk to me. They would not pay for my windshield. read more

I was informed that the tow truck was going to arrive in hour . It finally did after 2 hrs . I don't mind waiting given the right ETA by the dispatcher - Kelly who by the way was not very warm over the phone. I would give this towing co. Only one star because of the phone service and conversation with Kelly. The reason why I am giving 3 stars is because of BOB P the driver. DO NOT EVER USE Pete's. I got recommended to them by an auto shop. I waited over and hour, the dispatcher was rude and did not seem to care about customer service. When you call for a tow, most of the time tge situation is somewhat urgent. Pete's has no sense or urgency. Call Whitey's in Cary instead. read more

Friendly towing....I had a flat tire; the dispatcher said it would be about an hour and it was. The driver had me wait inside the tow truck so I would not be hit by passing traffic since I was stuck on a very busy road. Got me home safe and sound and he put the car in the drive way and did not charge me an arm and a leg. read more

I've got 4 cars. I've had to use this company more than a few times for a variety of reasons. We have a driveway that is 400 YARDS long. In the spring the sun doesn't get to it. It turns the drive into a sheet of ice. We had a delivery person get REALLY stuck. Pete's had to use their semi equipment to get the person out. I have a 34 year old English sports car that has had to be towed a couple of times. VALUABLE car. Never any issues. read more

An absolutely terrible experience. Needed to get a flat tire changed and this company was recommended by Chrysler as part of their road assistance program. Highly unprofessional and uninformative people on the phone who could not give me any information. The original quote was for someone to be there in 60 minutes. I kept being told that the truck was 20-30 minutes away. After 3 hours and countless calls I was still told the person was 30 minutes away! I finally cancelled the service. I got my vehicle towed from Pete's at an apartment complex. I had just moved in on the same day. I parked my car approximately by 10pm and when I woke up to go to work at 4am it was gone. It was not even 6hrs before they towed my car. I haven't even been there for 24hrs yet and this??? I called and they said they couldn't do anything about it and that I had to pay the fee of just under $200 to get it out and have to miss work. This is just so effen ridiculous! Anything for a dollar! So I am going to contact the owner of the property and possibly try to get an attorney involved. Piece of sh*t company! read more

Beware of this Shoddy and unprofessional company!! I was towed from my friend's neighboorhood in Carpentersville, IL by Pete's A Towing because I was parked in front of mailboxes. NOWHERE on the street, were any signs posted about any special parking rules, no sign at the entrance we entered the neighboorhood through, nothing. I thought my car was stolen!! I rang the neighboors doorbell, and asked if they saw someone take my car and they said they saw a tow truck take it - that they ran out to stop him and find out who's car it was - but he took it anyway and they have been towed and thier family as well by this company. When I went to pick up my car, I was smoked!! and asked the tow driver why I was unfairly towed and his response was that they are only legally obligated to post one sign anywhere on the neighboorhood property. I responded that was some serious B*llSh*t, and he better hurry back to that street because there was alot of cars to be towed! He told me he was going to call the police on me, I told him PLEASE DO!! He asked me to leave thier office, which I promptly did, while my husband completed the transaction to get our car. My husband pulls my car around...we obviously check it and my back bumper had 3 brand new stark white deep gouges in the center and also scraps on each side. I started to take pictures of the damage, and the tow driver walked by - I said hey! You damaged my car! He snottly replied that it was already there and went inside their building. So I call the East Dundee Police to come to the scene so I can get the appropriate police report to file an insurance claim, while waiting we are saying good byes to our friends who gave us a ride and the driver came outside and got in his truck, turned it on with the headlights blaring at us. I remember making a joke to our friend "What is this weirdo doing, trying to scare us with his big scary tow truck?" So we sit there for a few minutes, perhaps about 4mins while I got through to the East Dundee Police Dispatch, when they said they'd send a squad over - we got in the car and pulled to the side. When we pulled to the side - the driver pulled out of the lot - didn't think anything of it. When the Police arrived - he asked us why we were holding the tow truck driver HOSTAGE! Whaaaaat??? I told him we did no such thing, I was honest that I was heated in their office but left when they asked me to - when we were trying to call the police and take pictures of the damage - the guy was sitting in his truck with it running BUT NEVER ONCE ASKED US TO MOVE OR DIRECT US TO THE APPROPRIATE AREA TO PARK WHILE WE WAIT. We just thought he was just sitting there to watch us or something. The cop apologized for having to ask us that, but that he is lied to alot - he inspected the damage to the car and agreed it was quite obvious the damage was new and actually found more scrapes than we initailly thought. He said he would write his to coincide with his evaluation and told us to let the insurance company to handle it and we all shooks hands and we went on our merry way. My friend's husband is an Elgin Cop, who heard my name and DOB on his scanner, saying I was holding a tow truck driver hostage!!!! Um, can we say defamation of character?!?!?!? All I'm saying is - Tow my Car - Great, but don't be lazy unethical slobs and damage my car - it's not like it was a repo!! I parked in front a mailbox at 7pm at night for crying out loud!! Called to have a car towed at about 8 AM and was told no problem. Called back to confirm at about 12, and was told they can't do the job by a different person, because they only had one driver. After phone calls back and forth for over an hour, and being asked several times to, "do it tomorrow" instead, finally gave up and called a competitor who was at our house within 30 minutes. I had my truck towed to my mechanic's house for repair. I told dispatch the issue with the vehicle and that the tow needed a dolly to load and unload. The driver arrived in 15 min. (I live close by) but without the proper equipment . He did damaged the vehicle a little bit loading it. Upon delivery he allowed too much slack in the cable and the vehicle got away and ran into another vehicle and was damaged. The company which I contacted immediately said they would contact me to take care of it. "Dana" has not returned my calls in 4 business days even after calling repeatedly. Really, this is how you treat customers and accidents??? Beware!!! read more

Towing service was recommended through another business. First phone call was at 12am, ETA: 1am. I called again at 1:30am, new ETA: 2:30am. Repeated this process at 3:30am when I received another new extended ETA. Because of "heavy police activity". Please. If you're that heavily involved with your local police efforts don't accept the business, if it means leaving someone out in the middle of the night for over 4 hours. Maybe I should've just called the police to get their attention? read more

RUN!! Do not even think of using this company. The owner of this company, Pete, towed my 2003 Mercedes SL55 for me and nearly ripped off the entire front bumper. The bumper cover was split in half from one side and severly damaged on the other side. When confronted with the damage, Pete himself blamed the factory tow hook to be faulty. The vehicle was inspected by my local Mercedes Benz dealer and the service advisor was shocked to see what this tow company had done to this car. There are far better and cheaper companies out there. If you care for what you car looks like after its towed, dont even think about using this pathetic company. I have all pictures of damage and an inspection report from Mercedes which i will be using to file a lawsuit against Pete's Towing. read more

Terrible terrible service. My insurance company contacted them to have my car towed from their lot to Victory Auto EARLY in the morning. That way I could have someone drive me to Victory Auto to meet them there. I needed it early to not inconvenience my friend and so I could get back to work ASAP. I first spoke to some one at 9am and was told my car would be leaving in the next hour. I called at 10, they said the driver was not in and would be another 30min. I called at 11 and was told the driver had an emergency crash to go to and someone else would be in within 15min. If you're capable of getting another driver in 15 min, why not call that person at 9am??? It's now 11:30am and I still have not received a call that my car is on the way. Horrible and inconsiderate service. Do not use them!! read more

Pete's 'a' Towing has been called out to our private community by non-residence attempting to take a short cut to Rt 31and getting stuck on the hilly roads in the winter. We've tried to tell the drivers not to enter and if the come in they will get stuck as well (2 wheel drive tow trucks), but they come in anyway, get stuck and end up blocking homeowners trying to exit the community. The last time they were stuck in our community they decided to take a cable and walk onto a homeowners property and attach the cable to one of there trees. They did nothing to try and protect the tree and the cable dug into the tree causing irreversible damage. Pete's 'a' Towing was contacted multiple times about the incident along with photos showing the damaged tree and their truck cabled to the tree. We have never received a response, we're sorry, nothing. We have since sent out a notice to the homeowners requesting that they no longer use Pete's 'a' Towing. We now use a competitor which has 4 wheel drive tow trucks and have not had any issues. read more

I used my honda care to get a tow, they set me up with petes. 1st off they said it would take 3 hours to tow me, OK fine, an hour after they are supposed to show up Honda calls me and asks if they came yet, they didn't so I answered accordingly and Honda connected me to Pete's, the receptionist was very rude and told me the driver was only about 15 mins away, OK cool. An hour and a half later the driver finally shows up, tells me he's gonna change my tire so that he doesn't fuck up the wheel, OK cool I'll watch you do that, no this dude just decides to drive on my wheel and "go really slow, so it'll be OK" either way my wheel was probably messed up anyway but still he didn't do what he said he was going to do and the lady at the office was very rude. I definitely will not be coming back here. read more

My daughter had a car accident on Sunday before Labor day. Pete's A Towing picked up her car at the accident. The driver told her that because of the holiday it would be brought back to their lot and parked until Tuesday morning then brought over to the auto body shop right away, of which my daughter had already given him the name and address on a piece of paper. At about 1:30 pm on Tuesday we called the auto body to see if we could come and get something out of the car that we needed right away and they didn't know what we were talking about......they didn't have her car and the nice girl there even went out to their lot to look around and make sure it wasn't there. So I then called Pete's and was told that "no, it was not there, that the driver had dropped it off at the auto body straight from the accident on Sunday. I told them that I had already talked to the auto body and they even looked in their lot and it wasn't there. So they said ok we'll look into it and call you back. They called back about 2:00 and said oh yeah it was there at their lot (Pete's) and they would get it over to the auto body as soon as they could. I told them that there was something we needed out of it right away and the auto body closed at 5:00. They got it there at 7 min. before 5:00 and thank goodness we only lived 10 min. from auto body and they were nice enough to stay and make sure we got there. First of all we lost one whole day of time getting it fixed thanks to Pete's towing and second of all if we had not called the auto body b/c we needed something out of the car just how long would it of sat on Pete's lot until the incompetent idiots at Pete's realized they still had our car?! On top of everything else the girls in the office are the most rude, unprofessional, ignorant, little witches I have ever dealt anywhere with....they need training in customer service!!!!! Do yourself a favor and NEVER use Pete's towing!!! read more

BEWARE! Do NOT use Pete's towing! Horrible service! First, they took over 3 hours to tow my truck when they said it would be 1 hour. When they finally showed "Pete" reversed into my neighbors yard damaging their bushes and yard ornaments! When i told him about the damage he was rude and completely denied the damage. Then right after he changed the price from $85 to $103! I then told him i wanted to talk to someone and complain about the situation, which he responded to by calling the cops. About 4 squad cars pull up, they seem to be good friends with "Pete". After being patted down i explained to them about the damage they said "so what its not even your property". Seeing how i was in a lose lose situation i paid "Pete" $103. I was truly speechless. Do not use this company unless you want to be treated like crap. read more

My car was stuck in snow. I called onstar who dispatched someone. After over an hour I called onstar back and they were told I had called Pete's to cancel. That's not true because I didn't even know what company they were using. So while on the phone with onstar they called back the company and the same woman made up a story saying I called to cancel because I was on a train, which was completely made up. I was waiting at someone's house for the tow. She also made up a story saying the truck showed up and I wasn't there. She tried to say they saw my license plate(onstar gave them that info) and there was a rock near the driveway, but it was all covered in snow so you couldn't see that rock unless you were using google maps which was taken at a time with no snow. Finally the woman on the phone said they just weren't sending anyone. Terrible service from the dispatcher. She even lied when I called back saying I was talking to a different woman there. Rude people, worst experience with a towing company I've ever had. We weren't notified that our bike was at their facility until two and a half weeks after the fact. All so they can make that extra buck. We lost a family member in this accident and they wouldn't even let us in to take pictures for insurance purposes without paying $500+. The only reason this rating is a 1 and not a 0 is because the woman who answers the phone is very nice. However when it comes time for service this company is a 0 star in my book. Was told there would be somebody would arrive in 30 minutes and nobody showed for an hour and a half. All i needed were the tools to change a flat tire. Left my jack and tire wrench in my other truck. Guy gets there finally and has an immediate attitude with me. Says they don't "do" dually tires like it's some big deal. Gets on the phone and I can hear him complaining to the dispatch. He comes back with an attitude and is all out of sorts for having to manage to take off and put on a wheel. So I'm aggrivated because I told the dispatcher clearly what I needed done and it was the end of the world to this guy. I'm a hard working guy that owns my own business and it bothered me to the core that this guy simply didn't want to do his job. He is the guy that I would fire in a heartbeat. Just lazy. I got short with him due to my frustration and he immediately said you fix your own damn truck and jumped in his truck and sped off like an idiot into traffic on a busy highway. The only detail left out of this is I did not realize both dually tires were flat on the driver side not just the one. when I called back to their dispatch to let them know what just happened the excuse they used was that they didn't know both tires were flat and that they cannot only put the one spare on due to safety reasons. But they let me sit on a busy highway for an extra hour and left me high and dry instead. All I needed to do was drive 5 minutes down the street to the nearest tire shop. AVOID AT ALL COST!! read more
