They have large display areas of specials out the front of the shop and they also have some discount fruit and veggies at the backof the shop that need to be used on the day. As well as selling quality fruit and vegetables, . They have a deli which sells cold meats olives and sundried tomatoes . The meat is always sliced fresh so that they only slice what is needed the way that you like it. The meat is very fresh and always delicious. They have a great selection of cheeses and dips - my favourite is the beetroot hommous - so delicious they also have a wide selection of breads pastas and sauces which means this can be a one stop shop without having to go to Coles nearby. The prices may sometimes be more tahn you would pay at Coles but the I have found paying a bit extra for quality is often worth it, if you are on a budget you can always check the prices and quality at the nearby Coles before you buy anything here. I would highly recommend this to anyone that lives in the area

"We bought fresh oysters from George's Fruit Barn for the second time yesterday for today, Australia Day. The first time, they were delicious, but this time, they were bland and sickening to eat, as they had clearly been washed with fresh water, not sea/salt water. They were awful. Given that I bought these from George's Fruit Barn, then I am providing this as feedback in the hope that they will question their supplier about this. I won't be purchasing them anymore from George's, not after this, which is disappointing. You pay enough for oysters and to have them unnecessarily ruined like this was such a costly disappointment". Their response..... Thank you Noni for your 1 star review! What a shame you didn't give us a chance to at least refund you or gave us a ring about your disappointment. So quick for you to get into the computer and slapped us with a 1 star review! What about that "first time" you said they were delicious? That deserves a 5 star right! I was clear to state the previous positive experience with the surprising negative experience in my feedback. I was fair and balanced in my feedback. For them to pathetically pass their response off as a joke with the "he he he's" while driving the insult in further, is insulting to my intelligence and only makes them look worse. Oh, and they should count themselves lucky that they ran out of the oysters on the day, as they would have received more complaints if they didn't! There's a huge selection of quality chocolates and locally made biscuits. The staff is friendly and warm. It's worth a stop for a nice picnic pickup before heading to the beach. Only downside was a lot of the fresh produce was overpriced compared to large chain stores.

It well stocked with one of the best selections of European artisanal cheeses I've found in the Sydney area. And the two guys running the shop really know their cheeses. They even knew of my favorite cheese, the red wax Prima Donna gouda, which they had ordered by not yet received. I picked up a very nice fresh goat cheese, rich, flavorful, but not overpowering.

They've got the best array of carton fruit juices for endless cocktail concoctions come summer... and if you're a nuts fanatic, you'll get excellent nuts deals here. Fruit and veg is all as fresh as it gets... sometimes it looks so shiny it's like every piece has been individually hand poished. You'll rarely have to wait because there's a stable of cashiers - all super friendly. The delicatessen runs virtually the entire length of the store llike a big deli bowling alley, and there's muesli to accommodate every diet restriction known to man. I used to do my full weekly shop at this joint. If you're wondering why it's called Harbord Growers when it's right bang smack in the middle of Freshwater, it's because Freshwater was formerly known as Harbord.

The shop in Cherrybrook is special because it carries a full range of specilaty groceries and is a haven for all the Italians in the area with lots of Italian foods and vege's. In the grocery section they have a lot of artisan pastas, I especially like the fettucine made with black ink. They also have a good range of other products like pomegranate juice, Tahini, heavenly banana bread and conserves. I love when zucchinin flowers and artichokes are in season because know I will be able to buy them there. It's definitely the fruit and vege market for people who like 'different' things.
