I asked at the front desk their opinion on the place and it literally had mixed reviews. It was late and I did not want to go anywhere else at a long day of travel so I walked over. You pay for the buffet as you enter. Price to inlcude drink was around $14.50. Proceed to your table with your ticket and one of the wait staff will get your drink. Not very crowded when I went. Fairly large selection of soups, appetizers, entrees, sushi and dessert. I will say that some of the product on the line looked fresher than others. Checked out the sushi and spoke to the chef who was preparing it. Wanted to make sure it had not been sitting out too long. He assured me that it was recently prepared and asked me if there was anything in particular I might like (very nice). Got a full plate and cautiously dug. It was very good. Went back several times and the chef even prepared something special for me with mackerel. I was pleased with the sushi. I did not really get much from the hot bar, but what I got was okay, perhaps a little dry from sitting too long. So, an acceptable meal.

On a whim I sat down for the buffet, and I was super impressed for such a little place at a late hour in a little burb of El Paso. It's 150% better than Linns (which is so overpriced and lackluster now), and as good as Teppanyaki (obviously that place is huge so don't get crazy expecting all that variety). Also, something I didn't know I needed was the perfect cherry jello that's firm but not gross, and sweet but not cloying. Their little "donuts", macaroons, and crème choux buns thingys are pretty tasty too, and I hate coconut usually $14 with a drink and free refills there's no beating the value. This buffet is much larger and busier than the Asian Buffet in town. It is well managed, clean, and orderly. The prices are very reasonable. But, at the end of the day it is a buffet and you are not going to come away thinking you just had a fine dining experience. As before, most of the food I sampled would be in the "C" to "B-" range regarding flavor and quality with some items in the poor range. Nothing was real good or outstanding as you would expect. I found the meatloaf, the popcorn shrimp and sauce, the roasted potatoes, the hash browns, the fried chicken and the teriyaki chicken to be fairly good. The dinner rolls were mediocre as were the breakfast sausages and the onion rings. The pizza had a decent enough sauce but the crust resembled cardboard. The spaghetti was mediocre and the marinara sauce not so good. The fries and hush puppies were outright poor. The service was pleasant and efficient, The young women were doing a nice job of timely clearing tables and assisting people. I left feeling full, but not really satisfied with the overall dining experience. I left the restaurant not being sure I wanted to repeat the adventure! Rate the dining experience about THREE AND A QUARTER STARS. Ok for a large buffet but not the experience we look for when dining out. It of course all depends upon what you're after. If you just want to "pork out" for a reasonable price the Golden Corral is an option.

He stated that someone saw us putting food in baggies. When in reality, the baggies where cotton candy that I did not finish. So I took it with me, and my 76 year old mother put the roll that she did not finish in the baggy of my cotton candy. He persisted to say that I had food in my purse when I opened my purse and showed him that there were no other baggies with food in it. I felt humiliated disgraced and not even an apology from him. We normally eat at Golden Corral, at least 3 to 4 times a month. Not any more that's for dam sure. for me this is so humilium, so disrespecting. Tomorrow I will take them 3 dollars for taking the cotton candy and the dinner roll cuz I am an honest person that should not have been treated like a criminal. It's sad that that general manager was hard up for a cotton candy and a dinner roll.

I half expected a maître d' to escort me to the crab rangoons. The food journey (aka chaos on a plate): * Chow mein - honestly delicious, the noodles were vibing. * Rice - colder than my ex's heart. * Orange chicken - one bite had me sweating. But I'm white, so that's probably just a personal problem. * California roll - one piece was ALL cream cheese, the next was NONE cream cheese. The balance of the sushi universe was disturbed. * Egg roll - also cold. Like...straight out of Elsa's freezer cold. Beverages & desserts (aka rollercoaster of emotions): * Dr Pepper - incredible. The right kind of spicy, borderline spiritual experience. Would honestly come back just for this soda machine. * Pudding - tasted like both mint and cough medicine at the same time. I'm still processing. * Jello - had recoil. Like, I poked it and it pushed back. * Strawberry bananas - apparently the star in other reviews, but they tasted like cucumbers pretending to be fruit. Special mentions: * The "chicken on a stick" looked like a squirrel leg cosplaying as a frog leg. Did not taste like chicken, or...anything really. * They don't do margaritas (tragic). Ordered a strawberry lemonade instead -- it was basically water with trust issues. * For reasons unknown, my Black friend was charged 3¢ more than me. Is this the inflation Joe Biden warned us about? * Our Mexican friend loved literally everything though, so maybe this buffet is just a choose-your-own-adventure situation. Final verdict: $20.23 for me, $20.25 if you're my colored friend. Absolute bargain if you like culinary confusion. Would I come back? Yeah...for the Dr Pepper and the vibes.

Honestly, I was surprised at how everything I tried was hot and fresh. I love chicken dishes and tried the General Tso's and spicy Chicken. Absolutely loved both. Outside was crispy and inside was juicy chicken (not ground chicken). They also had every noodle you could think of which really excited me. I tried the ramen bar and was a little nervous. Once again a nice surprise. The one thing with the ramen it was bland, I got the hot chili oil and soy sauce to add and it was great. I did not try the hibachi but saw several people who did and they appear to really enjoy it. Also tried the sushi (I don't like seafood) but they had 3 vegetarian options that were wonderful. I would recommend giving this place a try. They had so many options that I could not try. Definitely going again!
