Our son has been at BHC Child Development Center for three years, since he was three months old. He has been through the infant, toddler, and early preschool classrooms. He is now in preschool and will end in the pre-kindergarten classroom. I cannot say enough amazing things about this center and their staff! We have partnered with them every step of way and are more confident parents because of the knowledge and experience their teachers share with us. They helped us with all the milestones - sleeping, solids, potty training, etc. The center itself is very modern and clean. The teachers have been wonderful. The schedule allows for both academic curriculum and plenty of play. We purchase the daily hot lunches and it has expanded what our picky eater will try. The Director has an open door policy and I can reach her without any delay to discuss any questions. The center also offers extras that we enjoy enrolling our son in, such as music classes and soccer clinics. I have read all the previous reviews and I agree that it is difficult to get into an infant room at any Los Angeles daycare center. However, I was prepared to be on waiting lists very early in my pregnancy, and to pay deposits for those applications. Outside of that standard process, everything has been above and beyond our expectations and I look forward to having a second child attend in the future. read more

It's tough to get into BHC because there's a shortage of center-style daycares in Burbank starting at the infant level. We got on the list while pregnant but didn't get in until 2 after some follow up on our part. Now both of our children are in the program. It is very hard to turn over your children for all day care while working. We needed to know that not only the school facility is safe but also that the teachers had similar views to us on how to raise children. My children love BHC and thrive there. The teachers are fantastic and communicative. Each day we receive a summary of what was done with pictures in a convenient app. We can also use the app to leave notes for teachers or mark vacations or absences. The curriculum at the school follows the same as other KinderCare Facilities. I think it is fun that the school has weekly themes such as The Farm or About Myself and the themes follow through in each classroom with age appropriate activities. I love that there is a regular schedule, the children know what to expect and when. There is the ability to buy lunch that is a hot meal from the professional kitchen at the businesses across the street. There are extracurricular classes such as phonics, music, math & soccer. Curriculum includes learning some basic Spanish also! The teachers are warm and loving and helpful and know how to assist in conflict resolution. They take the time to learn all the names of the students, parents and even siblings and some other key facts about each family. This school is gem! Both of our children have attended since they were 5 months old and the entire experience has been fantastic. The teachers in each of the classrooms, from the Infants' room all the way up to Pre-K, are warm, loving, friendly, and supportive. The administrative staff is wonderful to work with and always accommodating. Every teacher we have encountered has loved our children and cared for them as if they were their own. The curriculum is strong -- they expose the children to everything from science to social studies to music to art at a very young age. The school is one of the only accredited preschools in the area and that designation is deserved. In addition to a strong core curriculum, the school offers an additional program focused on music, phonics, and math. Last but not least, the school itself is nice and warm. The playground is safe and clean. It is well kept, clean, and feels like a place where children are loved (lots of hugs!). I could not recommend BHC enough -- I've referred so many of our friends here because our experience over the last 7 years has been nothing short of amazing. read more

If you're reading this and you or your spouse is pregnant, and you'll need infant care are they baby comes, PUT YOUR NAME ON THIS (OR ANY) WAITING LIST NOW. This center's long waiting list is not unique. Their non-refundable waiting list fee is not unique. If you don't put your name on lists now, you'll be panicking while you're out on your maternity/paternity leave that you'll have no child care in time for your return to work. I put my name on this list when I was around 6 months pregnant. I finally (and THANKFULLY) got a spot when my baby was about 5 months old. No unpaid leave of absence from work for me! Phew! All of that said, count yourself extremely lucky if your child does get in here. We are so relieved and grateful to have our child here. I'm a first-time mom, and I had heard so many horror stories about infant care. With BHC, we had nothing to worry about. Here's what stands out to me about BHC: -- Clean and bright -- When you take a tour, the first thing that's striking is how bright and clean the center is. It's always like this. I don't know how they consistently keep the whole place so clean. -- Photos! -- On our first day here, my baby girl was only 6 months old, and she couldn't crawl or scoot or roll over, and she HATED being left alone on her back, but she also wasn't a fan of tummy time. It was so hard to leave her. The teachers made me feel super comfortable, though, and when I came to pick her up, they surprised me with a whole adorable photo collage of her day. We continue to receive photos of our daughter's daily activities. And now that they'e gone digital, we get digital copies. It's hard to not know what your child is doing all day without you, so it's great to see photos of her activities and to see that she's having so much fun! -- Teachers -- All the teachers are exceptional. My daughter (now almost 2) loves all of them, and they're so kind and caring with her. -- Responsiveness - Any time I call, someone picks up the phone. During my day care search, there were so many centers where it would take me WEEKS to get someone on the phone, just to schedule a tour. What if I were a parent trying to get a hold of them regarding something about my child!? -- Activities! -- They engage the kids in so many so daily activities, especially art projects and playing with messy stuff (e.g. "goop" and "snow") and water during the summer. I'm not a fan of doing messy activities at home, so I LOVE that my daughter gets to do this kind of stuff at "school." -- Gradual class transitions -- My child started in the infant room. When she transitioned to the toddler room, they didn't just switch her over one day to totally new teachers. Instead, they started slowly, starting with a couple hours on one day and then a few more the next. This made it easier for her, I think, since she had to get used to a whole new environment and routines. Thank you, BHC! read more

Great school, fantastic facilities. The problem is neither of my children ever ended up going here or to their sister school Mary Alice O'Connor. We put their names on the waitlist and had to give a $150 deposit to do so. We were told it would be a year and a half to 2 years. It's been 2 years, and we are still on the waitlist. Here's the problem: they make you tour the facility first and you fall in love with the place. Then they say there's $150 deposit and the wait could be as long as 2 years. Meanwhile you've toured the place with 2 or 3 other families, and they're telling everyone the same thing, and they say if you wait to give a deposit, you could move further down the list. So you really love the school and you want the best for your kids, and you think there are 2 schools so my kids gotta get into one of them, so you do it. Big mistake. Waste of money. The solution is easy. Don't charge a deposit. Charge an extra $150 once my kids get into the school. I'd gladly pay it. But the deposit is a scam. read more

I put my daughter on the waiting list BEFORE she was born. She is 4 1/2 years old now and they NEVER called me for an opening. They just kept sending emails asking if I wanted to stay on the waiting list. Somehow my co-worker managed to get her daughter in by just asking the front office when she found out another child was leaving through word of mouth. Not fair. Think careful before enroll into the waiting list with $75 fees (no refund). I don't receive the call back when asking about my son's waiting list - they said another guy will call me tomorrow. And now after a year they call me back but we moved to another city. The waiting list with 4 or 5 priorities. I bet you will loose patience and $75 if you don't belongs to priority number 1st or 2nd. My son started BHC when he was 2 years old. It was an incredible experience for both myself and my son. He walked into school happy as a clam and loved every minute of it. The school has many activities for the children and plenty of opportunities for the parents to be involved in school events, as well as a very active parent group. This review is bittersweet to write because it means that our girls are graduating from BHC. Today marks the end of 5 yrs between our 2 daughters. My wife and I can't thank the teachers and administration enough for giving the best education possible for our kids. All the kids are so well prepared and are ready to take on TK and/or Kindergarten, even 1st grade. If you're looking for the best care and education for your child/children, we highly recommend BHC. This is a long overdue review. Both of my children attended this center and I have nothing but love, admiration and respect for the facility here. The teacher, Miss Emma - bless this woman.She is SO passionate about the children and fiercely protective. I knew that my kids were in safe hands with her. I loved that they had a curriculum & the day was very structured while also having some much needed free lay. The teachers aides, amazing.This group of women were truly a gift. One stop for daycare needs, BHC Child Development Center. Not sure what the issue was with the previous review. This place is by far the best daycare our family could have found. The curriculum for the kids is engaging and educational. Our son has been at this daycare since he was 7 weeks old. Infants are in one room, then there are toddlers, two's, preschool and pre-k. Staff is always accommodating and an option of lunches can be purchased for toddler age & up. I've experienced home daycare and knowing about BHC CDC I would not go back to home childcare. This childcare has no swing, bouncers, saucers or TV's. everyhing is hands on, daily, which is what children need! Open door policy and they also work with lower income in burbank. I feel the care my child receives here is above any other program. Many activities for all of the age groups and they also have a summer program. BHC also has their sister daycare, Mary Alice O'Conner. Best choice for ages 6 weeks-6 years. Call for your own tour and check them out! read more
