I had just been to another dental clinic in Leominster, where I was seen by a young dentist who spent more time looking at x-rays of my teeth than actually looking in my mouth, then told me I needed 4 teeth extracted immediately, or I might risk the chance of sepsis from an infection in one of the teeth. I went to Dr. Cronin for a second opinion. He listened to my story of what had happened, looked at the same set of x-rays and examined my mouth, telling me that, "Yes, some of these teeth may need to come out, but not now." We proceeded on that basis. Some of those teeth have had to come out, but both the process and the cost were far more agreeable. And speaking of agreeable, Dr. Cronin is simply a very nice guy. Dr. Cronin now is semi-retired and I am seen by Dr. Dani, who is probably the most relaxed dentist I've ever seen. At the end of my first session with him, we fist-bumped--it came out of nowhere, feeling completely natural. Both Dr. Dani and Dr. Cronin actually listen to a patient and try to do what a patient wants; and the cost is reasonable. I do not have dental insurance and they lower the cost accordingly. If you can get the amount you will pay after your dental insurance pays and do this before the procedure. It will make your life easier. Make sure the Office has the correct amount of deductible for your dental insurance. Basically you have to be your own book keeper and stay on top of EVERYTHING. As kind as I can say this. The girls are nice in the office but the billing and treatment plans with the insurance is AWFUl. To me they don't do their job or they are bad at their job. The front desk made no attempt to convey to the dentist that I arrived for the scan, and the dentist asked why I didn't come in at 9 AM. I was then informed that my insurance did not cover them and that I would have to pay out of pocket. This was never clearly explained to me beforehand. What made the experience even worse was being told afterward that I still needed additional CT scans before they could even proceed with the wisdom teeth removal and they said they couldn't even do it today after waiting 2 hours and paying $176. They also said they may need to do additional scans after since I'm past the age of 16 years old and wisdom teeth removal isn't normal after 16, but they KNEW my age when I scheduled this appointment and filled their forms online. I feel like the communication about costs, treatment, insurance coverage, and required imaging should have been handled upfront before making me wait for hours and completing scans that apparently were not sufficient. These people completely wasted my time. The entire incompetency of this office was quite appalling. The front desk also seemed like they didn't care at all and the male dentist was extremely rude and unprofessional. Patients deserve clear information about pricing, insurance, and treatment requirements before services are performed. They already robbed me of $176 dollars and expected $150 out of me just for the CT scans. About 6 years ago, we started 1/4 of my mouth at a time. Then I moved out of state. Having returned, I went right back to Dr.Crowley to pick up where we left off. I couldn't be happier. The staff here are professional, personable, funny, and kind. Dr. Crowley himself, leads by example. In terms of personality, I've never known anyone with the bedside manner this fella has. He's a gem. In terms of technique, he's the best. Thorough, asks how everything feels. He's the only dentist that has ever injected novocaine, and I didn't feel a thing- every time. Its like magic or something. In addition, he's happy to adjust any of his previous work while I'm there. "A tiny chip in your tooth? No problem, let me round that corner out for you." I'm lucky that I've never needed dental work more involved than a cleaning & a filling. That said, some work that was done 10 years ago by someone else has proven to be problematic. The 2 options Dr.Crowley gave me if the worst-case-scenario occur, are not great. They're the only 2. And when he said a root canal is not recommended, I couldn't have been more reassured of his talent and craft. I'm completely against root canals. Waste of money. If you're thinking of seeking treatment here, do yourself the favor and go for it. You'll be so glad you did.
