For a starter we tried the Hamachi Crudo. What came to the table was far from acceptable. Large hunks of tuna, some pieces with the white part of the skin still attached. It just looked botched. Bloodline and different sized pieces. You couldn't chew the white part so we had to cut it off. Then when we tried to eat it, it was full of pin bones. We picked out 4 pieces with bone. No real sauce on the plate. No flavor other than the chilis that were placed on top. One of the worst things I've ever been served. When our entrees came out first off, the French fries that we paid extra for were spare. My chicken avocado wrap tasted like nothing. It didn't have much chicken, I didn't notice any of the cheese or avocado ranch that was supposed to be on it. It was full of shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes. My BF said his turkey sandwich had no taste either and he wasn't sure it had what it said it should have on it. Very little turkey, undercooked, limp bacon and bread he said that was stale. Walking away we were just shocked. A bad course is one thing but every dish was just abysmal. We gave Kevin our deposit months prior to finding out he never contacted the county office to reserve the date for the Smithville Mansion. We found out only after contacting Smithville about something else. They were not communicative. We tried quite a few times to set up a tasting. Once we finally heard back and set up a date, we found ourselves sitting in a cluttered, cramped storage room. Kevin barely talked to us since he was more concerned about discussing a new business venture with another gentleman. Showing how disorganized he is, he did not know that we already booked them to cater at Smithville, etc. I found him very gruff and unprofessional. It also took them forever to contact us back about who the bakery was and their contact information so we could order the cake. Speaking of gruff, the serving staff, except for a few, were also a bit rude. For instance, no one served the bride and groom hor de vours, so I, as the mother of the bride, cut in line to get some, saying why and who it was for. Servers were very rude until one agreed to help me. This could be because the woman who was supposed to be the maitre d was not able to do her job. They lied to me, saying that one of the bartenders did not show, but I found out that even though we paid for extra bartenders, they never hired/set them up, so she had to cover them. They accused me of providing a broken slushie drink machine when they obviously did not read even the 1st line on the directions about not putting ice into the machine. Once we arrived and corrected them, luckily, it was not broken, and then it worked fine. My husband and several others were told that they could not use some of our alcohol for mixed drinks because there was not enough... LIE. There were at least 2 bottles of every type, and we have PLENTY leftover. I had to correct this. They apparently were concentrating on beer and signature drinks only. My son-in-law also had an issue getting his cooler back from them. He delivered the alcohol using his personal cooler...a higher-end tailgating cooler... I was told that the catering staff asked several times whose it was, and they were told by several people whose it was. They took it with them and then gave my son- in- law a hard time when he wanted to get it back. This too could have been avoided if they communicated AND... IF THEY DID NOT CLEAN EVERYTHING UP AT 9:30 WHEN WE STILL HAD 1/2 AN HOUR LEFT TO THE RECEPTION!!!! I am saying they had pulled everything, tablecloths and all, off the tables, bars closed, etc., by 9:30. They pulled their truck up before guests were even off the dance floor. And the top of the wedding cake was thrown out. My daughter chose McFaddens for the reasonable prices and variety, but we were not happy. If we had known, we would gladly have paid another caterer more to have better communication, and a more professional and pleasant experience for planning and for our guests
