I obviously didn't plan this lol So we called a few places and I remembered seeing Hawaii Voice on the news and I was always inteigued about the experience of this place. We called and they could accommodate us right away. We headed there and they had the beautiful room all ready to go. The room was huge and clean! Decorations were colorful and bright. The couches were very comfortable and clean. The TVs were HUGE! They were the biggest screens I've ever had for karaoke. The system has plenty of features, and for some, it may be "too much". They offer they're own karaoke catalog system, an older karaoke system (no videos, just lyrics), and YouTube was also integrated. One of the karaoke systems was cool cause you could see the music videos and can sing along. The only thing we noticed for some songs, the synchronization of music and lyrics were off so just make sure you know the song, otherwise, you're gonna be a beat behind. Also, the YouTube system didn't allow ANY song to be sung. The system didn't support some well-known karaoke channels because of the video formats. Lastly, the choice of Japanese songs was bare, but that's not really a problem if you don't sing Japanese songs. They have drinks and food, but we only ordered drinks because we already ate...and we like alcohol. They had a fairly good selection for hards and beers. Sorry, I cannot give an opinion on food. Staff is awesome. We met the owner and he treated us so well. To squeeze us in on a Saturday was a treat, and also a lesson to us on better planning (well, my friends, not me because this wouldn't have happened lol). And then, if they do have specials, they run out of them. Before the event even starts. That's my biggest problem with this place. This is the only queer space on the island that has weak small drinks. For a high price. That is not a typical culture of a queer space. All the other queer spaces have much larger stronger better drinks, and the prices are lower. It's really a bummer because I will only order one drink here and then if I want to have more drinks go somewhere else. But it's OK shouldn't have to drink to have fun anyway as I suppose. Once you get your ticket, you go inside the Blaisdell Center and there are hundreds of vendor booths and stalls. It felt like 60-40 with 60% being food or drink and about 40% being "stuff"--toys, knickknacks, even mattresses (?!) and home equipment. There is live music and entertainment; sometimes it got really loud and hard to hear conversation but most of the time it wasn't too bad. The lines for getting food and drink at stalls wasn't bad at all when I went (Saturday around 10-1). Food that needed to be prepared came out quickly and most vendors took card. There were a few that were cash and Venmo only. Many vendors gave out samples so you can try before you buy. Lots of small plates, $7 items to keep the costs down, and mini sized items. It helped that I could focus on those and try lots of smaller things inside of a few larger ones. I enjoyed everything I had a chance to try and I'm only sad that some of the vendors are mostly on the West side and pretty far away from where I live. Painting in Kaneohe, Hawaii…read more.. Paint nights have been happening for years and this is the first time that I got a chance to experience one. Thanks to Jessica and Jules for planning this group activity and organizing us! Before Jessica moves to the mainland, there were a few things that she wanted to do together and one of them was painting. She selected this picture of a waterfall with a flowering tree and butterflies because the other pictures looked "touristy"... haha! The venue (The Beach House) was a local bar in my neighborhood. It was convenient for me since I live and work in Kaneohe. I knew where it was (next to Windward Mall) and that there was free parking...and a restroom with curtains instead of walls to designate separate stalls! Tip: Just lock the door for privacy! Don't let anyone else in with you, ladies! Our instructor, Kate, was awesome! She was so bubbly, informative, and reassuring. I have never painted before and I have always wanted to try. I was afraid of the outcome...lol! This was a super great experience! All of the supplies were provided. Kate and her assistant, Lei, set up and cleaned up for us! We had a blast - and a finished product to remind us of a happy memory. Gosh, Jessica... I'm starting to really miss you already... waaahhh! (Crying a waterfall now...) =( P.S. "Not an Escape Room, Just a Frustrating Candy Hunt"…read more I've done a lot of escape rooms, and I can confidently say this was the worst one I've ever experienced. We booked "Sadie's Sweet Shop" at Room with a Clue expecting a fun, candy-themed escape challenge. Instead, we got a poorly designed scavenger hunt with no story, no urgency, and no objective beyond collecting candy. There is no escape element whatsoever--you're not solving puzzles to get out or to advance a storyline. You're just wandering the room trying to figure out what random combination of props might unlock another piece of candy. It felt like the creator designed puzzles purely for their own amusement, not for the enjoyment of players. Many of the puzzles were confusing not because they were hard, but because they were disconnected, self-indulgent, and illogical. To make things worse, the room was filled with red herrings--not clever misdirections, just pointless distractions that wasted time and made the experience frustrating instead of fun. The whole game lacked cohesion. There was no narrative thread tying things together, no build-up, no satisfying payoff. Just a cluttered space full of unrelated tasks. It felt like a rough draft of an escape room, not something worth charging admission for. Escape room fans: skip this one. Honolulu has much better options. Save your time and money

You can earn Shoyu packets by cracking codes, solving riddles, and answering triva correctly. To be honest, I did not think it was going to be super challenging, but compared to the mainland chain escape rooms, I would say it's about a 6 considering you want to "breakout" AND beat the other teams that have set records for collecting the most Shoyu packets. Plus, since they only offer one breakout room, they probably can't make it too difficult. I LOVED that our administrator was just as excited and happy to be there as we were. I wish I took more photos of the inside, but pls check it out because they change the theme every quarter or so. As soon as you ("the traveller") arrive, the villagers will take you to their various workshops where you can earn stamps on your passport when you do good deeds. Weaving and tinkering are just a few of the good deeds that my kids got to experience. HOURS: Fri 6-9pm, Sat 9a-9pm, Sun 9a-6pm. You can come whenever you want during these hours, they put a colored dot on your card so they will announce when your one-hour time limit is up. It goes by pretty quickly. LOCATION: Aloha Tower Marketplace, ground floor, across Gordon Birsch. I think they're only here til the end of September but I'm not even sure about that. PRICE: $14.95 for one hour. Other party packages are available too (ie $250 for 15 kids for a 2hr private party).
