We decided to walk there today as it's almost 90 degrees and it's only 5 blocks from my house. I didn't realize it wasn't a place you could walk into but that's ok we didn't have to wait at all. They were very tasty, I had the coffee & donuts and my boyfriend had the rhubarb buttermilk. We both thought they were good but they were a bit on the pricey side as it's $4 for a rather small popsicle. The only other con is if you look on their website to see what flavors they have that doesn't mean they will have it, it's different flavors of the day sort of. I really wanted to try the banana cream but it wasn't available. That being said, I would absolutely go back on another hot day if I'm out and about. I do recommend trying it out!

In front is a sunken tree garden that must be a neat place to enjoy your food when the weather is nice. It's very shaded and has nice benches and a relaxing vibe to it. It's also the only place that I saw to sit down and enjoy your food. Inside the building is quite large but only has about 4 tables to stand next to without any seats. I think most people either go eat the food in their car or take it home. I ordered 2 scoops of their frozen soft serve custard. The flavored scoops were vanilla and turtle pecan. It cost $5 and change which was a real value too. I stood in a short line and had my dessert in less than 5 minutes. They have several lines to stand in to serve the many customers who come here. The vanilla scoop was rich and delicious. The turtle pecan scoop rocked my world! It had many half pecans in it and the custard was perfect in a buttery like taste that made me what to order another serving but in the interest of my waistline I decided not to. This custard impressed me. They also serve burgers, hot dogs, etc. too and I am sure it's all good here. This is a big operation that serves many people. I counted somewhere between 15-20 people working there all dressed in their white uniforms behind the counter. I wish we had a Kopp's where I live!

Having tried them for the first time, I have to say, I can completely understand why they would say that, even without prior knowledge. I could definitely see the potential from the first bite of the burger. Patties were cooked right and gave me pleasant feeling of decent bite, except for being a bit bland. Buns definitely did not add anything to the totality of the burger, staying consistent with what everyone says. Made me wonder what kind of buns they used to use that made it better. Did not care for the soggy, green leafy part of lettuce they shoved into it. Like a normal person, I prefer a bit of crunch in my burger lettuce, but it did nothing but take away from the experience. I was sold on the idea of fried onions, but my onions didn't look or feel fried. Maybe my expectations were different on what fried onions meant? I was imagining deep fried battered onions, but maybe what I got was non-battered fried onions. Either way, it didn't leave any impression. I think I also made the mistake of asking for ketchup and mustard without specifically asking just how much. My burger ended up being too sour due to too much of both. I think I read on their website somewhere that I was supposed to be able to taste the specialness of their Wisconsin cheese, but everything else about the burger was so overpowering that I barely could tell if there was any cheese at all. Fries were SUPER soggy from the get go. I *only* brought the bad outside to open it immediately after grabbing them, so it wasn't like they stayed in the bag long enough to get soggy. Now.. having said all that. Custards were amazing! Definitely at the top of my list of frozen custards I've had thus far. The girl at the counter had me try both the daily specials and both were super good. So good that I'll probably drive my girls an hour out here just to buy them custards, especially as it gets warmer. If it were just for burgers and fries, I might have given them two stars. But since the name of the institution is Kopp's Frozen Custard, I'm more inclined to be a bit forgiving.. I had them at 3 stars originally, but I think I'll bump it up to 4, landing them personally at 3.5.

The ice cream is ridiculously smooth, rich, and packed with flavor--like you can tell right away this isn't your average scoop. Everything is handcrafted with high-quality ingredients, and they even rotate unique flavors that keep you coming back just to see what's new. From classics to wild combos (yes... whiskey ice cream is a thing), every bite hits. And let's talk portions... that "double scoop" is basically a challenge in disguise. No complaints though. The vibe is awesome too--laid back, creative, and full of energy. It feels like one of those spots you stumble into and immediately know it's gonna be a regular stop. Fast service too! Honestly, it felt like stepping into a Kangra Knova track-- "Take you up so high... into outer space" because that's exactly what this ice cream does

Date of visit: March 28, 2026…read more I am shocked and appalled that I have never posted a review of Purple Door despite all the times that I have come here. I live near Kopp's and I come here about as much as I go there even though it's not at all convenient! The variety of flavors, from old standbys like strawberry and butter pecan, to the more unusual such as strawberry hibiscus or road gravel ensure that there's a little something for everyone, and it certainly does not hurt that they make their waffle cones fresh on site. This is not a drill, people! And while I thoroughly enjoy the waffle cone smell, my heart is always set on a milkshake and Purple Door almost always comes through (there has been the occasional time that they are out of milk but thankfully that was not the case on this visit!). This time around was Salted Caramel Cookies and Cream and it was fantastic. I will say that I struggled mightily both getting the straw out of the plastic wrapper and then getting the damn thing into the lid. I ended up aborting the entire mission and just removed the top and drank it out of the cup, which was good because there was a massive chunk of cookie at the bottom that wouldn't have made up a regular straw, much less that lame excuse they were handing out that evening.

Inside there is bar seating enough for 6 people, and there are three tables on the patio as well. There was a little bit of a wait on food, but it did come out hot, and service was friendly. I started with the Carrot Cake shake, which was SO GOOD! If you are a fan of carrot cake, this is a MUST! It was nice and thick, but not so thick that you couldn't drink it with a straw. Next, I had the Cauliflower Bites and Superbad burger. The Cauliflower was nicely breaded, and tender yet firm. The Superbad is perfect for anyone looking for a little spice to their burger, and yet isn't too powerful. My friend ordered the Mozz Sticks, and we admittedly were pleasantly surprised by how delicious they were. The "cheese" was super smooth and melty, while the outside coating was crispy and held it all together beautifully. The waffles fries (which came as part of my "combo") were large, crisp and well seasoned. I don't generally visit places like Twisted Plants, but I thought it was fantastic. A nice spot to try out plant based choices.

I had the pleasure to see the venue in action at Yelp Elite Holiday Party. The menu included charcuterie, pizza, ice cream, mulled wine, and glitter bombs. Now, before you think none of that sounds amazing stop and pause. The charcuterie had some of the most amazing cheeses I've tasted in a while and the portions were very generous. I actually thought that was the party food for the night and was quite satisfied with my little serving when I noticed pizza was being served. The pizza was absolutely delicious. I tried the sausage and the pepperoni with jalapenos. I usually don't like pepperoni. This was fabulous! It had a job of sweetness to it and the tiny pepperonis weren't bitter and overpowering. The jalapenos added just a little punch and the slice was perfectly balanced. I truly enjoyed it and I haven't enjoyed pizza since college back in the 1980's! We were treated to a cotton candy glitter puff to drop in our warm mulled wine. I'm adventurous so I tried it! I enjoyed the beverage but I'm not sure if the cotton candy added anything to the drink. It was super sweet but I LOVE super sweet wine so that was fine by me! The fact that the beverage was warm made it perfect in my opinion. The glitter bomb part -- I'm not so are about. It was something to do. I don't think I understood the instructions or maybe I didn't understand what was supposed to happen. I did, however, love the drink. I think this is one of the most charming venues in town. It's available for rental and the business owners can cater your event.
