Just in time to fill up with gas at a good price and load up on caffeine for the long drive. Plenty of clean and available bathrooms, and there is both a Pepsi brand AND a Coke brand fountain drink machine with really good ice. Cindy at check-out was so friendly! She greeted me when I arrived and later commented on our shared enthusiasm for beaded bracelets at check out. I gifted her one of my blue Infinite Warrior beaded bracelets as she and I both said the blue bracelet represents one of our children and she'd recently lost her blue bracelet which honors her son. I do like getting free road maps, and for those of you younger than old-as-dirt, we used to use these paper maps to get from here to there. Kind of a primitive Google Maps only it worked better. Apparently the State of Wisconsin didn't print new maps for 2024 so I guess the old ones will have to do. This has become a place for homeless people to spend overnight, and I kind of like that they don't roust them in harsh weather but it does mean the place doesn't smell as clean at night. The vending machine coffee is actually better than the gas station and fast food coffee at this exit. Not saying it's good, but the area gas stations and fast food places don't believe in fresh coffee so this is as good as it gets in the afternoon or at night. If you're on a long car trip this is a pleasant area to take a brief walk to relieve lower back pain. There are recycling receptacles though lots of people just put trash into the plastic only and aluminum only bins.

This place was particularly empty and it was well caps and maintained but it still had that 80s nostalgic style to it. The grounds are immaculate and every visit I see someone cleaning. Cans are always emptied and there is never trash on the grounds. There are multiple picnic gazebos and a dog walking area. I don't believe large semis are allowed but RVs are always present. Even the bathrooms are regularly cleaned and well kept. On this visit I had to take a moment to compliment an employee on how well they do and I hope you will do the same if you like what you see. Sometimes we just need to enjoy the small things...
