    Welcome to Wisconsin sign
    Frank A.

A nice clean rest stop with lots of parking, nice scenery, and a clean restroom. Don't forget to take a photo of the Welcome to Wisconsin sign. I felt very welcome here :) I didn't take a close look at them, but inside the visitor center there were some brochures and other information.

This is a very nice rest area. It is actually a visitor center with plenty of facilities. Parking is plentiful with great landscaping. The building is modern looking and nicely nestled in between trees for a natural feel. The restrooms are very large and clean. Beware of the vending machine with the water bottles. They tend to fall from their slot and remain standing. This doesn't allow the purchaser to open trap door and retrieve his/her purchased item. Overall, this rest area is a great place to relax for a little bit or sleep overnight at. It's very safe.

    Bunny outside.

I canceled my order 30 minutes after I placed it and they claimed that they already shipped the order. A complete lie. I contacted my credit card company and they stopped the charges. I will not accept the delivery nor will I pay for any shipping charges whatsoever as this company has bad rep with the credit card companies as well.

I've eaten at most of the other Greek-style restaurants in the area and while I don't have the cultural credentials to judge it The Best, I can say it's certainly the best I've ever had. The Grecian Inn exists only on Friday evening: during the rest of the week the Brookfield location is Capitol Café & Pancake House serving a more general menu along with a Greek food. On Friday evening, downstairs from the pancake house, the menu's full-on Greek (along with a fish fry because hey, it's Wisconsin.) Reservations might be a good idea, especially around holidays. We visited the Friday before Christmas and when I called about coming, I was advised that a big party was booked for at 7 PM and we might want to come earlier (serving starts at 4 PM). My husband, another couple, and I arrived at 5:30 and were promptly seated. All the tables shortly filled but the noise level remained fine for conversation throughout. I ordered a Greek salad and exohiko, shredded lamb encased in phyllo. The side salad was ample and had a good amount of feta. The phyllo was crisp, the lamb was moist and tender, and what I could not finish that night was still amazing two days later (I microwaved it for about 45 seconds to heat it through, then re-crisped it in the oven). The portions were generous overall; my husband's mousaka was so good he ate most of it, which he regretted on Leftover Day. If I'm remembering correctly, our companions each ordered a combination plate, and most of us ordered the Greek potatoes, small new potatoes cooked in (I'm guessing) olive oil, herbs and a bit of lemon. We passed on the wine but ordered desserts: galaktoboureko (custard with phyllo) was a new one for me - a creamy custard with a hint of lemon in a phyllo shell. Generally I don't care for baklava, which is often served pale and gooey, but the baklava here was crisp and golden brown and I find myself looking for an excuse to do errands out that way so I can stop in there just for dessert or take-out. Our server told me the baklava is made fresh daily by either the owner or her mother.

My only other complaint was the elevators took a long time to go between floors, causing congestion as people were waiting to get on-- the staircases were not ideal to use because of cobwebs and a chill from outside. Oh, and the water pitcher I received for room service weren't all the way clean (had a crusted bit of food residue inside). And my room was right next to the elevators which meant I could hear them going up and down constantly through the walls. But I'm a heavy sleeper so I slept fine, and all the food from the restaurant was good, both dinner and breakfast. I would definitely stay here again. Maybe request a room not next to the elevators, though.
