Cashiers. I entered the line at the sign and waited my turn. However, the cashier waited on a person, who walked in the door as I waited. Do away with the enter here sign. What it means is, we will ignore you. Because I complained, the cashier refused to ring me up. She turned away $200 worth of dog food. She acts like she owns the company. On the drive home, I thought to myself, I did not cuss at her. Now, I know why she refused to wait on me. I was wearing a red freedom ball cap. So, if you aren't their political party, they gonna treat you poorly. Call the store and the person on the line says the cashier felt disrespected. Why, because of my freedom hat? I felt disrespected. The employee on the line hung up on me. Called back and they put me on hold. So there you have it. They will not wait on Republicans. read more

There were literal bugs crawling around the floor. I don't know if they were crickets or something else but that just caused me to open my eyes and see how dirty the place was. Also, one worker was talking about how she had a cold to another one of her coworkers. I'm sorry but I don't think someone should be around others if they recently had Bronchitis and now have a cold. Honestly the customer service was below average and the physical environment was unsettling. read more

The staff were racist and very rude to my mom because she is Black and Hispanic. It was a very disrespectful experience and made us feel very uncomfortable. I do not recommend this store. read more

Every time I stop in for feeder fish they are either out or the fish are under observation. I don't experience this when I go to other pet stores. I've been dealing with this for over 10 yrs, trying to feed my turtles. Don't understand why they cant do better. read more

Went to the cashier with concerns about a certain tank. They bigger fish in this tank has been bullying and biting the smaller fishes tail fins off (see pics) the cashier seemed more upset about this then the own manager. In August 2023 our first appointment for grooming finally arrived (booked it from the Petco app). Arrived early. First disappointment was to see how dirty the floor was, especially since the store was not yet open for business. It was noticably worse as I entered the grooming area. Bottom line - they did not have me on their schedule. Eventually looked up my name at the West York Petco and found my appointment. Second disappointment was to see that the groomer did not offer to call the other store for me, did not offer to book another appointment for me at her shop, did not express empathy for my predicament. Sat in the car to book another appointment, this time at the Eastern York store. Discovered it is an app flaw: because my first appointment on the app had been booked at the Wester York store (in 2022) each time I now chose the Eastern York store to book an appointment the app automatically switches back to the "default" store whenever I click "submit". So I called and booked another appointment for 15 days out at the Eastern York store. Third disappointment came this morning. I arrived at the Eastern York store for my 9 a.m. appointment. As the groomer asked the required list of questions I answered that my dog does, indeed, have a heart murmur. Was then told she could not accept my dog without a written note from the vet indicating it was safe to groom her. The website nor the app indicate this information - seemingly vital information - yet I was turned away, again. For some time my dog was groomed by Petco in another state. My frustrations are not with Petco as a whole (well, except for the app glitch and lack of communication disclosure), but rather with the Petco in Eastern York. The groomer has a serious lack of human-communication and customer service skills. And the floor really needs to be scrubbed. read more

I took my shih Tzu there twice. The first time they nicked him so bad when it started to heal, he had a head full of scabs. I took him back once again out of desperation and the same thing happened again. His nails were jagged and uneven and he had several nicks that scaled over. I will never take my dog back to that groomer again. read more

Stopped in this evening to get my leopard lizard a new light. Came in last week to ask about the lizard and what I would need, and was told to come back Friday for the deal. We did. Could not be happier. However, the reason I yelp this evening, is because of the excellent service I received this evening. I came in a girl was nice enough to help me, then I saw the gentleman who was helping me last week, Who finished helping me with my needs. And then the friendly cashier. Visited the location on Eastern Blvd in York PA a few weeks ago my store I normally visit was closed as of December and I am so sorry it did because the customer service there was excellent ... Can't say the same for the Eastern Blvd one... the female who claimed she was the "Store Mgr" (Dakota) was not only very Rude and unprofessional she seemed to feel that she owned the store ... after spending over $150 I realized there was an error on my receipt came back in to the store to aske her to check my receipt ... instead of offering to look in my bag and view my receipt she said oh. well i can tell by what is on the receipt that there is nothing wrong!! How could you possibly know without even looking in my bag? she said " I can tell by just glancing at your bag (mind you I had 3 bags full ) and then told me I had to get back in line if I wanted her to help me (now I have already been in line for 10 minutes prior to making my purchase) .. and the original cashier came from behind the counter and pexi glass to scan my items (without his mask on his face ) that was my first issue..... Dakota continued to smirk and laugh and tried to get another associate to join in her unprofessionalism as well. This was the worst customer service I have ever dealt with... so from now on I will order online through PetSmart.... She also said " Go ahead and call to complain because they don't care it all comes back to my word versus yours anyway. read more

I think this used to be a Super Petz, however they have drastically cut back on the floor space since converting to a Petco. The store is clean and doesn't smell like animal waste. The prices on animals and supplies is reasonable as well. Use caution when buying fish here. The last time I was in, they had some diseased fish for sale. This happens alot of places, so it doesn't surprise me. Just make sure you know what you are looking for and you will be fine. read more

Petco is ok. Nothing fancy. Good in a pinch. When you don't have time to wait for chewy.

I've had my dogs nails trimmed there before and they've always been super nice and helpful no matter who is there. So I think today we had the salon manager, I believe her name is Richelle. My pup actually has short nails and it's awesome! I know it must be hard to cut a squirming dogs nails and that's why they're rarely as short as they should be. What a nice surprise, today they were! I will always call first now to check that Richelle is working. She seems to really understand the dogs she works with and it's great. I enjoyed my interaction with her. read more

I only go in on weekends, but find it perfectly fine. Most of the staff don't ask if you need help, but they will if you ask. They have a great supply of quality food and treats. The toys, leashes, and beds are well stocked, too. They have less of a supply of things like bowls, extras, etc. Their trainer, Michaela, never walks past without asking if I need something. She always greets my dog and asks if I have any issues, and my dog never even trained there. Some of the staff are friendlier than others, but all in all a nice place. read more
