DO NOT GO HERE! This is not a safe place to get your pets groomed. My grandmother brought her dog here to be groomed many times however, the most recent time, her dog came home sick with diarrhea and coughing, couldn't drink or eat, making noises, just not at all herself. Finally, my grandmother realized that the groomers tightened the dog's collar so tight she could barely get it undone. The poor dog was so uncomfortable and couldn't eat or move properly because her collar was so tight. This is ANIMAL ABUSE and neglect! If this is how they send the dogs home, I can only imagine what they do behind closed doors when owners aren't there. read more

The service at this Petco is terrible. Stood around waiting for help while employees were on their cell phones. Not the first time this has happened. They act like buying something is a inconvenience! Bought fish here several Times in the past and many of them died immediately. One time between the store and the car. When we brought them back in we got a major attitude. Ended up returning them all and having to call corporate to complain. Used the discount coupon at a different petco-- what a different experience. Polite staff. Quick service. And the fish we purchased are still alive and healthy. I wouldn't go to this store location for anything. It's not like they had an off day-- they are Consistently terrible! read more

I took my miniature schnauzer to this petco to be groomed. I specifically told the clerk that I wanted a typical schnauzer cut and that I did not want the dogs beard cut. I told her multiple times to make sure the beard was not cut. I went to pick up my dog only to find that his beard had been completely cut off. The paperwork even had notes on it not to cut his beard. I was not charged for the grooming as this was the groomers fault. The free grooming doesn't help our Christmas photos look better. My dog looks like. Rat and not a schnauzer. The paperwork also had my dog listed as a poodle. I would think that pet professionals should be able to recognize dog breeds correctly. read more

We don't do regular full grooming but pop in for a quick nail trim for our dog from time to time. It seems like the majority of the time we go in to get our dog's nails trimmed, the grooming hours vary from what the website indicates. A lot of the times the grooming staff is there but just not willing to do the 10 min service because they're "closing early". I think we will be finding a more consistent and reliable groomer going forward. read more

I rescued my dog from an abusive situation when she was a puppy and she's always been skiddish around strangers and anxious to go for car rides. Her quicks were extremely long and so I get her nails buffed every two weeks to slowly chip away at them. Fast forward 8 years later and my dog is still skiddish around strangers and anxious in cars. After my dog's second visit here, she was no longer afraid of car rides and she was extremely friendly and happy with the grooming staff. Even if the groomer was new, my dog was still excited because she recognized the setting as a positive and safe one. The grooming staff are extremely friendly with both myself and my dog. I've been coming in every 2 weeks for the past 2 years as a walk-in and neither myself nor my dog has ever had a negative experience; it's always been phenomenal. They all remember my dog's name and they seem genuinely excited to see her. Out of the 6 or 7 grooming ladies I've met there, every single one has gone above and beyond to make the experience for my dog a positive one and I really appreciate it. read more

We absolutely loved Taylor the trainer at this Petco. She helped our puppy for a year before leaving Petco and was truly amazing at her job. Our dog is now CGC certified and in the process of becoming a therapy dog. Sadly, Taylor left, but we are hopeful that our new puppy can receive equally wonderful trainer from her replacement! read more

Today we brought one of our dogs to this Petco in Willimantic for a haircut, her appointment was scheduled at 1:30 so I got to the place at about 1:15 to check in. When I got there the lady was very rude at the front and there were only 2 women working at the time. She had a really bad attitude and I had really bad vibes sending my dog in the back with her. Not to mention I had to sign a form that cuts and nicks wouldn't be there responsibility if they cut my dog!! It was absolutely ridiculous! At Petco you can see into where the dogs have haircuts so me and my mom were waiting to see if we could see our dog and an hour and a half passed and she still wasn't brought out. My mom and I decided to go in and ask what was going on and how much longer it would be. We were then informed that they were waiting for my dog to dry after she had a bath and they had to re bathe her because she had an accident in the back because of how scared and uncomfortable she was. Me and my mom asked for our dog because we didn't trust these lady's at all and they were very unprofessional. I highly recommend not bringing your dog to this Petco for a haircut, we've never had problems with haircuts and waiting two hours for a small dog to have a haircut is just way too long. I would give this place zero stars if I could. read more

We have been bringing our fur baby, Buddy, for grooming at Perco in Mansfield, CT for 2 years now. We have been using Lauren as our groomer and she is amazing. Buddy loves to go and absolutely loves it when he sees Lauren. She has built such a rapore with him it's amazing. Sadly we are moving to FL and will no longer be able to see Lauren anymore. I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a groomer who is fantastic with dogs and is such a sweet person to them. She always listened to us and best of all she listened to Buddy. We all will miss her. read more

I had an appointment to get both of my dogs groomed 7/31/21. I have a Shepard mix and a Pit mix. I believe the stylist name was jaclynn that checked me in. She was very short with me and rude. She seemed like she did not want to be there. Jaclynn was assigned to groom my pit mix not even 10 minutes into having my dog I get a call that she will not service my dog. I was still in the store. She told me my dog growled at her and would not cooperate. Now I am realistic and know this was my dogs for time being groomed. This could be true. i feel her poor attitude and demeanor contributed. I feel like she did not want to groom my dog in the first place. I feel if you are going to work in the animal field you should like what you do or choose another field of work. Now my Shepard mix was well taken care of by Jaylynn and she had no issues. So thank Jaylynn. I feel bad because I know I won't be returning to this location going forward for grooming. The store manager needs to look into who is grooming and if they belong working with animals Jaclynn is not a good fit. read more

Had an awesome experience yesterday when we brought our dog Nala in for a nail clipping. Nala has historically been very difficult to trim her nails. The groomer Amanda was wonderful with her. She took the time to make friends with her and make her feel comfortable before working on her. The trainer Sarah came in and made friends with her as well, both sitting on the floor with her to get to know her and gain her trust. They really took a genuine interest in Nala and offered us great advice on how to handle some of her behavior issues. Amanda was successful at trimming her nails while Sarah took my daughter and I over to the training area for information on her classes. Sarah then invited Nala into the training area and continued to make friends with her and offer us lots of useful advice. We were definitely not expecting such outstanding service. We are so thrilled that Nala now has 2 great friends at Petco who really care about her well being. We are so excited to bring her back this week to start some training classes. Have been going to the grooming department for years. Always found them very pleasant and easy to work with. However yesterday, when I went in for an appointment, the woman there was discussing for 10 minutes with an unhappy customer the grooming of her dog. I waited with two dogs for my appointment. Then she rudely tells me they don't have time for our appointment. She was also oblivious to the chaos going on with all the animals around her, handling it very poorly. If you love your pet, I would avoid this place. One bad apple spoils the bunch. read more

There's nothing like rude and unhelpful customer service and empty shelves, to guarantee that I won't return to this store. Yesterday, I tried to find a product for my dog - they were completely out of the size I needed. I took a different size sample of the product up to the front of the store to ask if they perhaps had what I needed in their stockroom. Three employees were all chatting with a fourth person and were completely engaged in conversation, until I got their attention. The cashier then asked a clerk (who was standing right in front of me) to help by trying to find what I was looking for in the back; his response was "I'm on break." She then turned to one of the other employees and requested that she help me by looking in the back. This employee went to a "cart" in an aisle - perused it and said, "sorry - looks like we're totally out." (That was the "back" apparently!!" Petco Corporate - take note - is this what you expect from your employees?? You may be the only game in town here, but I will now go out of my way to get what I need for my pets. read more
