I brought my dog here this past Friday 10/20/17 for a nail trim they had a special going on for $15 for bath and nail trim decided to leave him. My wife and I went away for the weekend and left him with a family member. My dog has been hacking and wheezing since Saturday. I'm sure he has kennel cough which sucks because I would hope Petco would check dogs coming in to make sure they don't have something that other dogs can get. Clearly not, Petsmart does a screening for dogs makes sure they are in good health before receiving them. I am beyond disappointed with Petco and will not be back. Had to take him last night to vet to get fluids he's not eating or drinking anything. read more

Do not take your dog to these groomers, they lack respect, have no compassion, and are just plain rude. I have taken my dog to PetSmart every month for the last 2.5 years and never had a problem. I decided to try Petco since this location is close to my place, but after my two experiences, I will never step foot in a Petco again. My dog does not like blow dryers, as many dogs don't. At PetSmart since they know my dog doesn't like the drying appliance they will hand dry her or let her dry out in the crate. Jayke at Petco was extremely rude from the first time I stepped foot into the salon. My dog gets a little scared when going to the groomers but eventually warms up. He immediately asked me if something was wrong with my dog. He then when on to ask me if I lived alone because my dog did not seem social or loving (which is completely opposite of how she is. She is the most loving and kind dog and plays with all the dog's at the complex I live at). I attempted to bring her the second time and they called me in the middle of the session saying she was aggressive towards the blow dryer and they would no longer be able to see her at any Petco and that I needed to take her to a vet to get checked up. I wrote a complaint and the manager Jeremey replied saying my dog was choking herself in the restraint! As I said before, PetSmart never put my dog in a restraint/choke collar. My dog came home that day and was having throat problems for 3 days and throwing up. I will never take her here again. I just recently took her back to PetSmart and she had no problems with the groomers. Please beware of this place!!! read more

The store is phenomenal and the people that assist there, but I am very disappointed of the grooming salon is like day and night, the stylist is very rude and doesn't t know anything about customer service. read more

My favorite petco to go to lol. I run a reptile rescue and have many animals. I'm here maybe twice a week. The staff knows me and is always greeting me at the door. They are a fun group of people that seem to care about animals a lot. The store is very clean and the reptile area is usually pretty clean too which is uncommon for big chain pet stores. This specific petco is my favorite in the area. read more

Horrible service. Inconsistent some managers care and others have an attitude. They should understand keeping the customer happy is key. I consistently have a problems when ordering their so fresh kitty litter they have two items interchangeable and they never keep the item stocks counted correctly. I placed an order online when I went to the store they canceled the order said that they didn't have it in stock. Daniela the store manager didn't think they had the other in stock either but when I went in the store sure enough it was there. She would not honor the special pricing I paid yesterday. I have to jump through hoops for a lousy credit. I have had problems with this store before with my pets grooming. Just beware they don't care! read more

This is my favorite local Petco to go to. Jay is always extremely helpful and ready to have conversations about my cats. He never fails to go above the call of duty to help me find things for my cats especially if the item is not in stock. Lately, it appears that most Petco stores haven't been receiving their replenishment stock quickly so he always checking on certain items to see if they are getting it in. Like my cat litter that I use appears to be having delays or possibly being discontinued so Jay is kind enough to look into further for me and get back to me later. Plus, he is nice nice enough to help keep an eye out for my cat's favorite toy to come back in stock. I need a backup to it. Basically, I want to give kudos to my favorite Petco employee for always making the time I spend in his store great! =) read more

This specific Petco really impressed me. When I first got my puppy I had no idea what the best food, toys, or collars would be best for him. So the day before I got my puppy I came in and asked one of the Pertco workers what he would recommend for the breed of puppy that I was getting, he gave me the full run down on everything that would be best for him at an I expensive price. I'm so glad I did this beforehand because I felt more confident in taking care of my puppy knowing he was getting the best stuff for him (treats, food, bed, toys, collars, etc) after purchasing all this stuff one of the dog trainers introduced herself to me and asked if I'd be interested in joining a training class for my puppy. I was a little skeptical at first but then when she started talking about the deals and price back guarantee if I didn't like it, I decided to try it out. This class ended up being the best thing for my puppy Milo. He learned very quickly and knew how to do simple tasks with just hand signals at just 12 weeks old. So happy for coming into this Petco when I did and so grateful for all the help I got. read more

I bought a male Betta here thinking it would be a good birthday present for me. But the fish container was incorrect so I was charge a maximum $16. After a couple days the fish started to swim oddly so I treated with medicine after the next day it died. So I brought the dead fish back to Petco and the cashier pointed me to the Specialist. I was told it suppose to be kept in a 5 gallon tank with filtration not in my 1 gallon Betta tank. I was told it stressed out the fish. So I pointed out they keep these Betta fish in these small containers. The people in there gave me an attitude. I felt disrespected and shameful. I have 30 Betta and the ones I have don't get stress out in a 1 gallon. I'm a Nurse working at Veterans Affairs Hospital and I know how to take care. read more

I took my dog to the VetCo clinic. I told them I needed vaccines and flea meds. The vet did a "check up" consisting of nothing. My dog got his shots and I was sent home. I had to go back in to get flea meds which they charged me another fee for another "check up" and did nothing. I got 1 prescription and was told I could get more later. I ordered from Petco online and they cancelled my order telling me I need another vet visit. Vet Co is a total scam now. I used to always use them for vaccinations and flea meds but will never use them again after this last issue. read more

No stars for Jayke S.! RUDE! Ignored me before he saw my dog, went to his register and tried to hide his face from me. Finally came over and choked my dog while putting on the leash. Jayke was uncaring. He did not care about my dogs sensitive paws as he cried .My very friendly dog hid behind me in fear. Jayke was annoyed my dog would not engage with him. Jayke accused my dog of biting him him, which he did not. The 1 star is for Jayke's manager who was very helpful and found my previous groomer's location read more

If I can give zero stars I would. The male American manager was indescribably rude. We didn't know much about a certain a baby shrimp, so we had just asked questions if it would be able to live in a ecosphere, and he automatically says "Asians, I tell you" "i'm not selling it to you because the animals come first you're just going to kill the fish" we already told him. That we had a fish tank with filter and heater. Because I currently have spotted puffer fishes which are my favorite! He told me I had to buy a filter and a heater which are about $40 in order to buy the shrimp and he would walk me to do the whole thing before you would sell it to me and mention Asians always try to get away and be sneaky!! So rude and racist!! I didn't even ask him how much it cost Nor did I care because I already had a really big tank and all Supplies needed for more than 5 years! Racist racist racist, I'm telling you this make American manager was so racist, it saddens me read more

I've been coming to this petco for years. Things I like: -Easy Parking -Happy Employees -HUGE selection -Pictures with Santa every christmas -Discounted Vaccines on scheduled dates -Generous coupon mailings -Good Grommers. The girls don't even flinch when I bring my huge pitbull to get her nails cut. And they always do a really good job. The only thing I don't like is that often on weekends they will have reps from pet food companies there promoting their food. And they will follow you down the aisles asking you what you feed your dog... and then lecture you on why you should use their products. That can get pretty annoying. Just don't make eye contact and you'll be fine. read more

I wish I could write a better review. I don't come here too often because what usually happens is that I pop in here shopping nearby if I don't have time to go to my usual pet store but they rarely have what I'm looking for. The store is heavily out balanced by favoring doggie wares and has a pretty good sized chunk dedicated to fish. The feline, aviary, reptile, and smaller house pet varieties take a back seat with crowded half aisle displays of two or three rows a piece. I have never, not once, seen a sales associate on the floor. I have never, not once, been greeted upon entering or thanked for whatever purchase I made and this is true not only for this location, but all of them. They do have a cool automated find a pet system and their adopt a kitty corner while heartbreaking, is encouraging, although I find it amusing that the birds for sale are located right next to the cats. I can't say I would take any advice from the staff regarding new pet care (or any care)--a cashier (remember, no one on the floor) suggested to new kitten owners that any litter was safe, but I warned that was untrue and they should opt for clay only for the first few months. Babies are babies and they might eat the chemically enhanced litter with tragic or expensive results. The cashier looked at me like this was news to her. I dunno, but I don't shop here if I can help it. The price points are higher than other big box pet stores, too, even with the perks card. read more

Worst customer service. I came in 5 min before closing. Asked for help and guidance so I can get what I needed and out ASAP! Guy behind counter sorting receipt looked taken back and annoyed that a customer would interrupt him and actually ask for some service! He briefly pointed to the section I needed to go. When I asked for more direction and guidance, he walked me to the section and gave the products a "Vanna White" like hand motion. Very condescending and rude for someone in the customer service industry! I tried not to react and continued to ask him which one he would recommend? If this was needed? Which ones best? As soon as I said, "okay, thank you." He was gone! Leaving me on my own to figure it out for myself. The only other sales person I saw in the store was a female working the register. She finally came over and asked if she could help since they were closed. I said, "yes! Actually that would be good since I wanna get out of here as soon as possible also!" It was 5 min past closing when I checked out. Told her I'm in the customer service business also and they acting so put off is not representative of their company. Maybe if they were being help up 30min or an hour. Explained how the other guy was not very helpful and had poor attitude. She didn't seem sympathetic and was disingenuous in her response. Although it was only 5 min past 9pm, she said they still needed to clean up. Their hours are till 9pm! 5 min past should not be a big hold up!! I know I will not be going back to that Petco and would not recommend their store. PetSmart definitely more friendly and helpful. Btw went the next day to PetSmart. Bought the same items. Selection better at PetSmart. Spent $42.90. $19.18 less than Petco! Went back and returned Petco stuff. Don't shop at Petco unless you want to waste your money. read more

I recently went here to buy a couple items for my fish tank and saw their vast selection of fish and fish supplies. Everything here seems very organized and checked frequently for quality control. The fish seem content in their tanks and rarely show ant sign of malnourishment or abuse. The employees here do know their stuff, which would help people who own or want to own any pets of theirs at home. Overall, great prices and people. read more

If there's an option for 0 star, I'd give it to this store right away. I don't usually go here at night so this is the first time I've encountered Nick, the night manager. First, let me start off with their customer service. This store has the WORST customer service that I've seen. I asked the cashier to help ring someone for me for the fish section. He told me someone will be on their way soon. I waited for over 10-15mins, and there were no signs of any help. So I saw someone working on the floor near the reptile section, and I believe his name is Nick. Anyways, I explained that my mom would like to purchase this one fish. He then asked me about what kind of fish I have in my tank right now. After finding out that it's a goldfish, he explained that this is fish won't get along with goldfish. I'm like okay that's good to know, let me ask my mom if she wants anything else. She then pointed to another slimmer goldfish. By this point, Nick was getting on my nerve because he kept saying "I'm not selling it to you because the fish here comes first, and you'll kill it because your tank is not big enough blah blah.." I explained to him that I have a second tank, and he continued to insist that I'll kill the fish. We didn't want to argue with him so we left. It just felt like he was trying to sell me a bigger tank before letting me purchase the fish. I called to the store a little while after I left, and Nick (the manager) picked up. Again, he continued to try and educate me on how to raise goldfish. This guy was trying to educate me when their tanks are filled with dead fish. Not to mention the other fish are feeding on the dead fish bodies. Such great condition to keep their fish in. At the end of the conversation, I did not receive an apology for the lack of customer service or how rude he was approaching us. My best advice for anyone planning to drop by in the future is don't go here night time. Don't expect too much from their customer service. It will take forever to find someone working the floor to help you out so go ask the cashier to ring someone. read more

I can't rave enough about this Petco...and I live within walking distance of one!! lol This one, however, is HUGE!! The staff is REALLY friendly...the shelves are stocked and they always have what you need...or what I need anyway. Easy to park...in a shopping center with a Home Depot, a market, a drug store, Starbucks, Jamba Juice...you name it, it's a one-stop-shopping place! The one reason why this branch stands out: They have a Kitty Adoption area which ALWAYS has about 15-20 kitties just waiting to be cuddled. Now call me a sap...go ahead...but I like to go in JUST to see if my favorite little fuzzy animals have been adopted yet. lol And...it's a mixed feeling when I see they are gone!! I play with them and I swear, just one of these days i'm going to come home with a furry companion for my kitty, Steve McQueen. So go say hi to the cats and fill up your cart with crap for your animals...you won't be disappointed!! read more

I went here yesterday after going to quote a few different pet stores. We were researching a pet, as well as all the items needed for the pet, but the other stores we went to(including a different petco) had not been helpful at all. I had stopped at this location before and it was dismal so I wasn't hoping for much. But, as we went to the reptile section, we were greeted and assisted by the animal manager. He was very knowledgable, and sincerely cared for the well being of the animal, which was very refreshing. He also told us about some deals coming up, which helped us price out what it is we completely needed for my future pet. He really enhanced my experience at this store, and now I will be sure to come back. They had a wide variety of pet items, and they actually were the cheapest(as compared to 'higher end' pet stores, including a reptile only store). read more

Petco. Hm. Petco. Well, at least it's better than the Petsmart down on Edinger in Huntington Beach. They do have a large selection of toys, treats, and food for your little, evil finger-biting, blood-drawing vampiric hamsters, to the boring goldfish to the furniture destroying puppy or kitty. However, the only thing I would recommend buying regularly from here is toys. They have a nice selection of Kongs! Their food and treat selection is largely limited to craptastic brands like Eukaneuba, Science Diet, Royal Canin, Iams, and Pedigree. If you feed one of these or the various others that they carry I pity your dog. However, they do carry a few decent brands: Solid Gold, Blue Buffalo, Wellness, and Natural Balance. That's more than I can say for Petsmart. As for their treats, they really carry nothing I would give to my puppy. Avoid MADE IN CHINA at all costs. AKA avoid 99% of Petco treats at all costs. If you want quality food and treats i suggest finding other places. There are plenty of good places that carry high quality foods/treats at affordable prices. :) Oh, here's a tip - NEVER listen to the nutrition experts at these pet stores. They only know what the craptastic brands force-fed their tiny brains to say. read more

This is by far the worst petco in regards to customer Service. Every time I go to the fish section there is no one there. Employees walk by, but they don't ask if I need help. Every time I go here i seriously spend about 30 minutes before someone is able to help me. I never make a big deal out of it, but it does bother me. Also, when you are helped they never greet you. They just say "do you need something" in the most dry possible way. Is everyone here anti social? Cheer up a bit guys. read more

This is a horrible experience.. These hamsters and small pets are kept in very small cages no fresh air. Poop everywhere within n pea.. One hamster was standing on the water dispenser reaching for the ceiling... Obviously didn't help him... Petco do u think ... People would be nice enough to come in and steal hamsters to care for?? U should have open cages on top or at least the top... I was watching their breathing while sending them loving vibes and pushing down my sadness... An it was as if it's too hott in there maybe... Because it hurts me to be helpless..I'm a human being...And I hope u don't work there just for the shitty little money u get.but at least make value for yourself and be caring. KYLE IS RUDE! This location is nice and big, and some of the staff very knowledgeable and kind. I was even told by a staff to ask the cashier for a new puppy catalog since I was shopping for a new puppy. I got all the goods I needed and everything was going well... then... with the distance protocol there was no clear direction on how to stand in line and while a register called out for me to come, I noticed there was a line and asked if that line was for something else because I did not want to cut and was unsure- another cashier looks over, Kyle, and yells at me and says there is only one line, even though each register has stickers on the ground for lining up and no sign signs saying otherwise, so clearly there is NOT just one line, but I went to the back because I am not rude. Then I happen to get into Kyle's register and I ask him for the new puppy catalog, as I was instructed to do, and he rudely questions if I even have a new puppy...as if all my new purchases for a puppy didn't make that clear, he treated me as if I was lying to get a free catalog. He was completely rude and ruined the experience for me. read more

The employees are okay. I must have come on an off day because they seemed bored out of their minds lol. I got my dog groomed here twice and I probably won't be back. They do a fine job, but I get overcharged. My dog has a few knots on his fur and I get 8 bucks extra for them to fix that. I never had that problem even with the Petco in Corona, CA! I also got calls twice a month asking if I needed a groomed. It was nice at first, but then it got a bit annoying. If I'm lazy to take him to my usual groomer in Fullerton I'll take him here. read more

This review is for the AQUATICS DEPARTMENT/ MANAGER ONLY, as I don't have any other experience with this particular Petco. Nick, the animal manager at this Petco, is awesome!!!! I've been a customer at Petco for about 15 years, and worked there for almost 3 years. I was very impressed with Nick's knowledge, enthusiasm, and helpfulness. My husband and I came here just to pick up some goldfish. Nick happened to ask what they were for, and my husband mentioned our aquaponics system. We ended up spending about 15 minutes speaking with him about the system, and he gave us some great advice for controlling the algae problem in our outside tank. Meanwhile, I came across the friendliest little turtle. We had been wanting one for our system anyway, and had most of the setup requirements- tank, heat lamp, basking platform, etc. Nick helped us again, taking us through the aquatics and reptile sections, and informing us on the various options for feeding, heating, etc. He also showed us how friendly that particular turtle was, and showed us how to tell he is a male turtle. He even showed us what to do if the turtle got snappy- a safe way to train him to not bite, and how to keep him friendly towards humans. My husband and I happened to be in Westminster but we live in Mission Viejo. Still, if we ever have any questions about turtles or aquatic systems, we will absolutely be calling or visiting this location to talk to Nick! A tip for Petco customers overall: Petcos typically have at least one (usually more) "animal companion specialist" (CSA) that has been educated and tested specifically on certain types of animals and their care. One CSA may be in expert in only birds, while another might be an expert in various pets. There is usually also a person who specializes in aquatics. SO- if you want advice, ask for these people. Petco is a retail store, not a veterinarian's office. To expect every employee to be an expert on all things animal-related is like walking into a Whole Foods and expecting the guy stocking apples to be able to tell you all about the pros and cons of different types of probiotics. Also, the advice Petco employees can give is limited due to liability reasons. read more
