There was a young man in front of us at the checkout that the cashier was loudly frustrated with and being rude to. I'm not sure what the issue was, but it seemed like there was some confusion and english was not the customers first language, either way he was nice, cooperative, and apologetic the whole time and she was just loudly announcing that his card was declined and told him he was holding up the line multiple times, finally telling him to leave. The computer crashed and she (the cashier) blamed it on the customer to his face. It made it really uncomfortable for us and probably for the rest of the line who could overhear everything. She also retold us that he made the computer crash whenever we went to check out and "didn't know what he did", expecting us to side with her. Definitely will not be back at this location after seeing how they treat their customers. Stopped by here recently to have my Irish Setter groomed. We typically get her groomed at the Greenfield location but they were a bit booked out and we found a time slot here and went with it. Our groomer had never groomed an Irish Setter before (unsurprising as there aren't a super common breed here). They asked lots of questions on how we'd like it and even brought up a pic on their computer to see if that was what we were hoping for. The grooming area is clean and easily visible through big windows, which is always nice. The cut was slightly funky (a bit of a rigid line from the shorter on top to her longer fringe) but being it was her first Irish Setter, I thought it was a good first effort. I had a few things to do on my lunch break and I didn't have enough time to stop at my regular pet store for some cat food so I decided to stop here. I checked the super frustrating web site to see if they had the brand and flavor that I wanted and yes they did but I couldn't seem to figure out if this store had it in stock or any store for that matter so I gave up in frustration and just stopped in. There is all the usual pet store offerings from grooming, pets, food, toys etc so it's your one stop shop for pet needs. With the explosion of what's supposed to be great quality pet food products over the years and everyone claiming to have the best it gets a little confusing to with all the options so I think I have switched to a better product for my buddy. After looking on line I went in to the store and saw $40.99 on the tag with no sales price like I just looked at on line so I went to the check out thinking that it would ring up reflecting the web price, NOPE not at all so I asked why the $9 price discrepancy and I got some mumbo jumbo that most customers would be satisfied with but it was just a cover for if you don't know any better we will charge you more. Even so they did save face and price matched the bag so I was happy. I learned a lesson here to check the on line prices first which they will gladly match so I didn't feel ripped off if I found that out later that it was cheaper. I was completely satisfied with my customer service experience today and I will be back again. read more

The store has a great selection of products and is very clean, however, the management is not so great. We had purchased a dwarf hamster and had to bring him back to the store for vet care (he developed a UTI). After a week and a half when we got him back, his right ear was ripped nearly in half. He was fine before going in, and the employees tried to paint it to be our fault that his ear was ripped. It appears they kept him in the same cage with another hamster, which is a big no-no for Robo hamsters. Very unimpressed, especially since our little guy is afraid now when we go to pet near his ear. read more

Grooming hours that are posted are never accurate. Did not get any answer when called to try to see if anyone was there for a nail trim. Multiple times I've stopped in for walk in nail trim and no one is there for grooming. read more

This is for the grooming services. Booked the appointment online with the price being stated as $50. They shaved my dog bald and gave her a haircut fit for a BOY dog. She called my dog a he numerous of times after I stated that she was a girl. When I got to the counter the total was over $80. When I asked why they said the groomer told me she was matted but she never told me that it was an additional fee. I will not be bringing my dog back here. read more

I don't recommend anyone that cares about their pet to take them to Petco In Wauwatosa 124st. The groomer is very unprofessional told me that I was one of those individuals that make appointments and don't give 24 hour notice of cancelation and that I arrive too early. Not true I had made an appointment for my dog at 8:15 AM I did arrive early but waited outside until 8:13 The manager came out to tell me that the groomer Was not answering her text or calls and did not know what time she would be at the store and stated that she was very disappointed in her because this wasn't the 1st time she was late. She said that she would give me 20% off my bill because of our inconvenience. I took my dog home and made an appointment for Cooper hair grooming for the next day the appointment was for 8:15 a.m. I arrived at 8:13 the gloomer proceeded to tell me that I was early and needed to talk to the manager. She came back took took the information about the grooming . I told her about the manager saying that I would get 20% off the grooming because of the groomer not showing up the day before. She told me she didn't see this in her notes.That the manager hadn't written this in the notes . I asked her to bring in the manager so that we could straighten this out she brought in the manager but it was not the manager from the day before .The manager just stood there looking did not introduce herself did not say a word just listened This woman proceeded to tell me that I was placed on a list that I could not have special treatments done to my dog only from the walking list because I am one of those difficult customers Let me say this is the 1st time I've ever had problems with the groomers. Then she looked at my dog told me that the Cooper looked pretty good .That he did not need the under coat removal just around the area by his hind legs .The groomer gave us a call around 11:15 to tell me that Cooper was having a hard time with the hair dryer and that he was not taking it very well. So we had to give her more time so that she could get him dry. She said to pick him up around 1:00 pm.I picked up my dog and his backend was wet. She brings out a Grocery bag Full of hair And proceed to tell me she was charging me double for the removal of all that hair .When I got home I looked over my dog and found that they had necked his left back paw And the haircut was just awful. You could tell that she was upset while she was cutting my dog's hair. My mistake was to leave him with them but I didn't think that they would be so unprofessional.l Made a complaint to corporate office and they said that they would conduct an investigation in 48 hours On Tuesday I received a call from the manager of Petco in Wauwatosa She basically told me that they don't need my business . I should take my dog to a different groomer because she really didn't need my money. I told her that I have been a customer for Petco for more than 20 years and that I have 3 cats and a dog and I purchase their food and all the things they need from the store.l will never go to that Petco again I guess they don't need my business. No one would answer the phone and upon reaching someone I got the runaround over and over. Asked for my money back eventually. No return contact. Garbage (at least for my first time). Came today at about 630 and needed help with a heat lamp for my bird. Asked the orange haired woman for some help and she told me to look in the reptile area and get a low watt light (that wasn't helpful). So I looked....and loooked...googled...and looked. I was confused because the lights said reptiles and I wasn't sure what to get. Went to the register and she asked if I found a lamp, I said "no, it's confusing." She said "oh". This is a review for their pet-grooming service. Never bringing my dog here again. Dropped her off to be put in a crate for two and a half hours, waiting in line to be groomed in a tight space with loud blow dryers and barking dogs to keep her company. They actually said right off the bat that it was going to take this long, which I was very unsure about but didn't want to travel out for nothing, but when I went to pick her up they hadn't started to groom her yet and was going to take another hour. Traumatic experience for my dog with separation anxiety and fear of loud noises. Also, way too expensive. The only reason I gave them two stars is because she came back clean. read more

I was unable to return the items I had just purchased a few days ago because I didn't have the physical card but didn't need the physical card to make the purchase in the first place. On top of that, the lady at the counter interrogated me like I had brought a bunch of stolen items with my receipt. I am very pleased with my recent visit to Petco with my dog Titus. He is a huge shredder and needed a brush out. He is a Husky mix & Katie & her team did a wonderful job. He had a bath with de-shedding shampoo, got his ears & teeth cleaned, a blow-dry & brush out. He looks so much better & seems to feel better. Titus is 12 yrs old & has arthritis and they were very gentle with him. I will be back! read more

Everyone is always so friendly here! Especially the woman who just helped me (My receipt says associate Winter, but I keep forgetting to ask her name, so this is all I have to go by). Three separate times now, she has quickly greeted me as I walked in, helped me with various rewards program questions, and she always quickly notices when I'm heading to check out, and she rushes to ring me up! I'm disappointed in this company as a whole. Their career site states that they are an equal opportunity employer, but when my daughter went to apply for an apprentice groomer position, they required an academic test and a personality test. Most high school graduates would not do well on that test, much less a person with a learning disability and autism. If they only want college educated people, then they should state that on their site. I do appreciate that they offer a grooming apprentice program as my child with her disability would struggle in a classroom setting, but would do very well learning hands on. However, she won't ever get a job there because their application process weeds people like my daughter out. Finally, who does personality tests anymore? I work for one of the top privately owned global companies in the wold and they stopped doing this years ago because it weeds out too many good applicants. read more
