Ali helped me locate broth for my dog I could not find - great customer service. Always so helpful.

"You're just trying to leave here without paying for anything" Groomers are booked for weeks in advance here in Charleston, so I booked this appointment awhile ago for today, which was $75 for a bath and shave & I added an additional $23 for a flea treatment. My husky lab is about 14 yo. He has cancer that is pushing on his bladder which causes him to pee & he cannot help it. I understand this is inconvenient. They are always patient with me & I've never had a problem with them before. Petco has groomed him 4 times in the last 6 months and know all of this, and I tell them every time. A couple hours after dropping him off they text me that due to this, they started to shave him but wouldn't continue and that I wouldn't be charged for the shave. I return to the store to get Marley and they hand me a $74.99 bill. They said I would still be paying $47 for the bath. I said I took today off work, drove 30 minutes, to pay $74.99 for my dog to have a bath and a botched shave job? I'm not paying 74.99 for this. I was expecting to pay for the flea treatment. I expected to pay for the treatment, they maybe apologize, and I go on with my day and figure out how to get Marley properly shaved somewhere else. Instead... This turned into the "manager"- Orlando- telling me that I was just trying to leave here today without paying anything- and he told me I will be tipping the groomer today for the work they did. He told me I will be paying, tipping, or I will not be getting my dog back. At this point Marley has been indoors for 3 hours- he definitely needs to be let out at this point. He offered me a $7 discount. I said I will not be paying. He said I am not getting my dog back. I ended up leaving paying $58.39 and taking it up with Petco afterwards. I cannot believe he also told me I needed to tip. Wow. This is the worst customer service experience I have ever experienced in my life. It is hard enough knowing you're going to lose your dog after 14 years, but having "manager" Orlando refuse to give you your SICK dog back FOR OVER AN HOUR was next level. Petco you get zero stars.

I stopped in here the other morning to look for some chew deterrent for my dog who insists on licking a specific spot on her back leg until it bleeds. The store is well organized and very clean. They had several brands available in sprays and one in a chew deterrent vet tape (to wrap around her bandage). The cashier was really nice and though I wasn't interested in being a rewards member, she still scanned a store card to see if there were any discounts available on my purchase.

I took my puppy goldendoodle to PETCO in Summerville SC (N. Main St) on Sunday Dec 11th for a full groom. This was now my 3rd or 4th time taking Luka (my puppy) to this location when my main groomer is booked. I explained everything I wanted as I normally do and the groomer began petting Luka looking for matting and said nothing to me at that time and told me she would call me in a few hours when she was done. About 2.5-3hrs later I get a call from the lady saying that Luka has matting in his ears (which I was totally unaware of) but she's the groomer, so I figured maybe she saw/felt something i hadn't. She said she would need to shave some of his fur to get the matting out. I told her I didn't want Lukas ears shaved because that would look stupid, but she reassured me it wouldn't look bad and that she could do it in a way that it would remove the matts and still look good. I reluctantly told her if it doesn't look bad, she could do it. She called about an hour or so later and told me he was ready to be picked up. I typically pick him up, but I was unable this time, so my boyfriend left to get him. Once he got there, he went to the grooming counter to get Luka but for some reason this time they handed him the receipt first told him to pay and then come back and grab Luka. Which was odd because the times before we have gotten the receipt and the dog at the same time. So he proceeded to pay and then go back to get Luka. He called me as soon as he got him and told me i would be livid with how he looks. Once he got home, I was in complete shock! I called PETCO immediately voicing my concern. The lady told me his matting was so bad that she had no choice but to shave his ears all the way down. Which was totally absurd because I get my dog groomed every 3.5-5 weeks. And he was just seen by them a few weeks before and he had NO MATTING! So in the matter of a few weeks my inside well-kept dog went from zero matting to sever matting???? I told her i wanted to speak to the manager at which time she told me she was busy and would contact me later in the day. I decided to give the manager a call the next day since she never called me back the night before. She basically told me the same thing the other lady had said and told me all she could do was offer a refund and then told me she would refer me out and that I could no longer take my dog to PETCO for grooming services (which is 100% okay by me). however, they acted as if I had done something wrong. If my dogs' ears were so matted the groomer should have called me back and told me his ears would need to be fully shaved to his skin. I have never been so displeased and pissed off with services rendered. I went in the following day (Tuesday Dec 13th) to get my refund at which time they told me I could get a full refund minus my tip .... WOW just gets better. WORST EXPERIENCE WITH PETCO EVER!!!!!!!!! Petco on Main Street in Summerville is a great pet store that has everything that you need to care and feed your pets. They have a great selection of many quality items at really good prices and you can find some great value here. The store is very clean and well maintained and that is always important for a pet store as the entire store smells good. I like how all of the different sections of the store are organized as it is easy to find exactly what you need right away without getting lost. The staff here is extremely helpful and is very good at making sure you get all of the assistance that you need and they are very knowledgeable and can answer about any question you have. Overall this is an awesome pet store.

Petco groomers are very friendly and most services can be done without an appointment. Nail clipping can be done as a walk in and it's $15.00. They have spa packages for your furry family members too, they have basic shampoo packages all the way up to a blueberry facial. My English bulldog cannot go under the blow dryers because her nose is flat so they air dry her. They used to give a little bag of treats with each visit but they haven't done that the past few times I've been there so they might have done away with that, none the less we love coming to Petco!

My dog has been groomed here before without any issues, but this visit was a completely different…read morestory. I have always been upfront about her being a mix, she resembles a Maltese or Shih Tzu and her profile clearly says "mixed." At check-in, the staff changed her breed to "Maltipoo" because she is "larger than a Maltese" and charged me $11 extra. They also added a $10 "scissor fee" because her coat was supposedly "thick," even though she has straight, thin hair. At check-in, they offered teeth cleaning and nail grinding, and I clearly declined both. When they called to say my dogs were ready, they mentioned the extra $10 charge and told me they did her nails "free of charge," despite my specific instructions not to touch them. To make it worse, my 50lb black lab/border collie mix had a grooming the same day and his was cheaper than my 8lb Shih Tzu/Maltese mix. When I went to pay, my fiancé stayed in the salon to pick up the dogs. He witnessed her rolling her eyes then she approached him. This groomer proceeds to tell him, "I'm sorry your wife is upset... this is why we did the charge, etc. Please bring your dog back again, I loved working with her." Unfortunately, after this experience, my fiancé and I both agree we will never bring our dogs back here. I will say, the rest of the staff I interacted with outside of this particular groomer (Keriann M) were friendly and professional, which makes this experience even more disappointing. I suggest others, especially with mixed breeds, think twice if you expect fair pricing, transparency, and for your wishes as a pet owner to be respected.
