This review is for the one and only Nicky. She has been our groomer for our Double Doodle, but when our Rottipoo's groomer was out we had Nicky groom our big boy and she did a great job especially when they were short staffed. Bear's fur grows long fast and gets unruly. This is his summer cut and we usually go short because it's so hot. I went there today to browse the aquarium section and saw a couple sick fishes. The worst one was a female betta , near death and floating on her side with a distended belly and possible dropsy. The store manager refused to let me rescue her and say I had to pay the full price. Nobody is going to buy a half dead fish for $12; she won't survive another day at the store and get tossed anyway. It's sad to see that Petco would rather bargain an animal's life to the very end over money. I refused to enable this behavior, and despite my convictions, left the store. I wish I took a picture, she was a very pretty betta and deserved better! read more

Bre (Breanna D.) is a DOG WHISPERER! My corgi lets NO ONE TOUCH HIS COAT except Bre. Ive tried several places as we've moved a couple times, even down in Lathrop Ive tried spots around there and Manteca...but nope! No luck, so I make the drive up to Stockton to see Bre. I also follow her on insta (BresGrooms) because im certain she will be starting her own grooming business soon! Anyhow my corgi loves her so much, cant put a price on knowing youre leaving your doggie in safe and trusted hands. Bre is gentle, patient and assertive with our corgi - because i tell ya he likes to think hes always the boss and sometimes that leads to folks not being able to finish grooming him but he puts his ego aside for Bre LOL! Shes got the magic touch for any sassy pants out there lol! Maybe its all the love she showers them with. Check out the pics, he looks so clean and happy after i pick him up - trim is always perfect, our family is just so grateful for Bre. We would honestly have nowhere to go if it werent for her. Love the Petco Stockton staff!! Wendy, John, and Justin are all amazing and so a great job any time I see them

I usually choose Asha who is awesome at what she does but she wasn't available so I was told Bre is very experienced. Once i get there we get no hi or hello straight to whats your puppy's name? Ok ! I asked her if she could trim him down a-little she said no? I asked can u trim his face hair around his eyes specially she said ok. She took him back i left after 4 hours i get no update i call petco and they tell me his still drying up i said ok. After 5 or 10 minutes i get a text his ready to be picked up. With Asha i usually get a extra card of how my puppy did and what services she did for him. But this time i didn't get nothing but one paper with all the charges that the groomer failed to perform. I paid $90 for the service and my puppy still looked the same as i left him. His still wet around the neck n and face area. She barely touched his face and sanitary area. His nails weren't filed down he scratched us all at home with the sharp nails. It was the first and last time Bre will takecare of my baby. You are taking care of voice less pets and if your hearts not into it please don't give pet parents false hope you will takecare of there babies in there absence. I scheduled a pet grooming appointment at 2:30 pm today. When I arrived for my appointment Stockton #01319 the stylist Bre told me that because I booked late in in the day she probably wouldn't be able to finish my dog and did I want to reschedule. I told her no. At 4:32 she sent me a text message saying she couldn't finish his feet and would I like to finish sometime this week. I said no, I wanted him finished today. (See copy of text message). I got no response so I called and no one answered the phone. I called headquarters to lodge a complaint and the rep said they would call right now to leave a message for the manager to call me back. No one called. At 6:30 I received a message from the lead person or grooming manager stating my dog was ready to be picked up. I asked if he was completely groomed and she said I think his paws were not done. I said did you receive a message from corporate about my complaint and she said no, it will probably go the managers voice mail. I explained my dilemma and she said she could give me a 20% discount. I said I'll come get my dog. When I received him his paws were not done, his face was not washed, and he had shaved patches on his coat. I am completely upset with this Petco location and I will not be doing business with Petco in the future. read more

Petco's pricing is misleading and quite possibly illegal. Now, don't get me wrong, I like the store and the employees seem nice enough, but they list Sale Pricing on many goods without advising you that you must give them your phone number or have your phone on record with them. The shelf tags only say "with manufacturer's electronic coupon" but give no indication that they have other requiremenus in order to qualify for the sale price which, in this case, turns out to be almost $33 out the door. The manager I spoke to acknowledged it was misleading and that another big box pet store had been sued over the same illegal practice. read more

Let's start by saying that the actual clinic staff that administered the vaccinations were great. Shout out to Angel for loving our dogs. However, don't bother making an appointment, they will take walk ins before you. The whole point of appointments is to get in and out quickly. 3 scheduled appointments between 10-10:15 and we didn't get out of there until almost 11. Extremely disappointing. I will go back to Manteca from here on out. read more

The grooming staff they have are very unprofessional. My animals get cut every time So I booked with a new groomer, Brea. When I got there I was 15 minutes late because I thought they weren't open and Brea said I had to reschedule cause she booked a dog in my spot. I called the manager about her and was trying to get a new appointment and I said I don't want a day where brea would be there cause I don't know what I would do, as in probably yell at her again for her lack of customer service,.Then they refused my dog and said I need to find a new place to take my dogs. She said I threatened the groomer and that is a lie. I asked why I didn't get a courtesy call.She said she doesn't make courtesy calls for appointments but if she had, she would have known I was just sitting in the lot waiting for the doors to open. All this could have been avoided if Brea was trained properly on customer service. I'm so upset now but it's probably for the best because no one there knows how to cut labradoodles hair and when they nick the dogs skin, it hurts them, and they always do. I took my golden retriever dog in to get a grooming appointment. It was probably the worst haircut I've ever seen in my entire life. If I could get refunded, that would be great. Horrible place!! Do not bring your dog here to get groomed!! Especially by Asha! Picked up my dog and he was all wet still, legs, feet, neck, was not brushed properly and her excuse was he was scared of the blow dryer when I took him 1000 of times and nobody ever had a issue. When I brought my dog here and the first thing she tells me not too go to far because it'll only be a hour. Obviously they gave me the vibe they're in a rush and when I picked him up he was all wet, I'm sure they didn't even do all the procedures I paid for because the nails don't look trim, paid for extra brushing teeth and his breath still smells the same way when I dropped him off. Paid extra for nothing because how did I pay extra other things and still took her the same amount of time to finish before I added any extra features on. Went in for grooming last week for my dog and got the full bathing and grooming treatment with nail trim etc. however nails were NOT trimmed. Extremely upset because the price was not cheap and now i have to take her else where because people don't do their job well for what we pay for. I just noticed today which barely came up to a week therefore they said they couldn't do anything for her and her nails are extremely long bc obviously they were never trimmed a week ago when i initially took her, therefore will definitely not come back here!!! read more

Justin was the most amazing help for us today. We just got a new puppy, and I haven't had a dog in 30+ years. So knowing that a lot has changed since then, I had a lot of questions. Justin was a awesome teacher, and helped us get educated on the food brands as well as treats for training. The great part is he didn't just take us straight to the most expensive foods, he took time to explain the difference in them all. Ultimately we went with the brand Justin feeds his dogs at home because it was the best quality food for the price. I can tell you the breeders sent her with Iams and she nibbled here and there, we bought Acana and she couldn't stop eating it. So according to our puppy Justin was 100% right. Lol. Also the store was clean and well maintained, and the rest of the staff was super friendly. Thanks to all of you, but Justin is the man!! read more

I took my dogs 2 Labradors in for shots last year to the Petco/Vetco pet clinic at 5406 Pacific Ave in Stockton. I always take my dogs in for Vet visits and shots together so they are always due at the same time. Last year they were due for rabies shots amongst other shots. My female dog's records reflected she was given a 3yr vaccine but my male dog's records reflected a 1 yr vaccine. I did not notice this until I got home and was putting the records away. I tried to call the clinic at Petco but was told they were already gone for the day so I would have to call the 877 number to speak to anyone. I called Vetco and explained the situation to the representative. I was told that the clinic made a mistake, that all "new" dogs only receive a 1yr vaccine regardless of whether or not they had a 3 yr previously elsewhere. So my female dog should have only rec'd a 1yr vaccine as well. (I was lied to! See below) So here we are a year later and I make my appointments to take my 2 Labradors dogs in again + one more. I arrived at 11:50 for Dog A 12:00 - 12:06 Dog B 12:06-12:12pm Dog C 12:12 - 12:18 I waited in line for 20 minutes while the person in front of me was checked in. Due to the length of time it took to get the customer in front of me all checked in, I was already regretting my appointments but I needed to get my pups all taken care of. The gal checking in had gotten so behind that another tech had to come up and help her check people in. Four other appointments were checked in before I was finally all checked in! It took the gal 30 minutes to get me all checked in. I was just about ready to walk out, I could not believe the inconvenience of this whole processes! I finally get to the back and I ask one of the Vet Tech to take a look at my paperwork from last year, and ask why was one dog given a 3yr vaccine and the other just a 1yr vaccine. He looked at my paperwork saw that it was done at this same clinic and apologized. He told me that this clinic only uses a 3yr vaccine and they have had to correct other people's paperwork as well. They were going to enter the vaccine but not charge me for it since he did have it done last year. I was told several times by the Vet Tech and the Vet herself that I was not going to be charged for the vaccine but it would be entered so they can update the expiration date. I was given a small piece of paper with a bar code on it and told to take it to the cashier. I was not given ANYTHING to reflect what the charges were for and since I had 3 pets all the charges were group together as one charge on the store receipt. An itemized record would be emailed to me. I get home to print out my pets records and see that I was charged for the rabies vaccine! I tried calling the store and the clinic is done and gone for the day. I call the Vetco 877# and spoke to customer service "upon checking your pet's records your dog WAS given rabies shot today" again I tell her no he was not. They entered it to correct the vaccine exp date but NONE of my pets had any rabies shots today. Customer service representative then tells me I will have to make another appointment to go in and talk to the Vet! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! Not only was I lied to on the first visit last year but now I am over charged and you want to inconvenience me some more by having to make another appointment to go in and speak with the Vet that also told me I would not be charged. How about YOU contact the Vet since you have my pets records and YOU ask her personally if my dog was given a rabies shot today or not. They do not have access to the Vet so they cannot call. Ok How about you let me talk to a supervisor and ofcorse one is not available... I should receive a call back within 24 hours. Maybe they will call when I am not at home, possibly at work, so they can say they called me back.... Got it!!! I really thought that having my pets vet care/shots at Petco would be a convenience, but I was so wrong! I want a refund for that Rabies shot that my dog DID NOT GET and now I feel I have to fight for it!!! Not cool Vetco/Petco. This is not how you treat your customers!!! read more

Came in tonight with full intentions of switching up my brand of cat food. I had a few questions and found Wendy! What a sweet person. She discussed with me some options, gave me some sound advice and spoke to me like a person and not a customer. I've been having some terrible experiences as a consumer with the lack of customer service in this town and Wendy was a very welcomed and much needed reminder that there are people who are willing to help and be kind while working retail this time of year. S.J. is a goddess. Absolute gem. If I were rating her service alone. It would be 5 stars easily...but before I continue to wax poetic about the angel that is S.J., I'd like to share why I'm rating my experience 3/5. My parents bought me a betta fish from this location along with a 1 gallon desk top aquarium, tank decor, food, water conditioner, and tank cleaner. They set everything up for me and the next morning, poor Zuko was floating belly up. I thought maybe we didn't acclimate him long enough so they went back and bought another. This time I did a bit of research on things that stress Bettas and tired to avoid the common mistakes. I cleaned the tank with the cleaner that my parents had been encouraged to buy and acclimated him for half an hour before putting him in the tank water. 2 Days later I noticed Indie wouldn't eat and that he was swimming slowly and hanging out by the filter. He was loosing his coloring and his fins were cinched tightly to his body. I ran to the store absolutely distraught and in desperate need of help. I couldn't let another water baby die on me. I explained my concerns to Kate and she recommended removing the filter as it may be too strong and recommend a different type of food. She also told me that I could bring him back and get a new fish. After several assurances that they would care for him, I decided to go home, get Indie and return him. When I came back to exchanged him for Jasper, I was helped by the lovely S.J. I told her of all my fishy woes and the first thing she did was advise me not to use the tank cleaner any more because that was likely the issue. She said hot water was sufficient. So I went home with Jasper, cleaned the tank with just hot water and took the filter out of his tank. After doing hours of research, I returned to the store to buy a larger tank because I discovered that one gallon is insufficient if you want your betta to be happy. Again I was assisted by Queen S.J. who helped me find a suitable tank, silk decor that would not damaged Jaspers fins, moss balls, a small tank heater, and a siphon. I didn't feel up-sold at all. She was helpful, extremely knowledgeable, and above all else, honest. And now I have a 3 gallon tank that is beautifully set up and I have a very happy fish living in it. The story has a happy ending but it was fustrating that my parents were recommended items that were not suitable. The cleaner which killed Zuko and made Indie sick, and a one gallon tank which is just shy of animal cruelty. So S.J. is amazing but everything else about the experience was pretty unfortunate. read more

Went here with a filter problem for my turtle tank. I bought it at a different store that was no help whatsoever with the problem. There were 3 young ladies that completely took the filter apart and put it back together to figure out the problem. Filter is working as designed now and Petco has a new customer for life. I love coming to Petco and my dog does too!! Petco is the best pet store to find anything and everything you need. The quality is always good and there is a huge variety on all products. You can pretty much find anything you need for any kind of pet you have. Petco also has in-store adoptions for cats, small rodents, birds, fish, and reptiles. All of the pets seem well maintained and look good! The staff at Petco does not seem super friendly or knowledgeable. This is the only downfall. I would hope that if you worked at a pet store you would be able to help me with items I need for my animal, have information on similar products, be able to ask another store associate, or at least point me in the direction. The times I have gone here I always seem to run into the same two staff members and both seem unhappy and aren't helpful. I must say, the ladies who have helped me in the grooming department have always been friendly, seemed happy, and helped in whatever ways they could, even though they aren't floor associates. If there were more animal educated staff members I feel like this could really improve Petco as a company. read more

This is mainly for the condescending, subliminal and somewhat embarrassing way this associate spoke to my 4 month old pitbull/Dalmation in a way that was directed towards me because let's face it, don't don't fully understand. My puppy is young. He's not so small, he's about 30 pounds at 4 months. As associates at a pet store, you would think they should be well versed in any event a dog may happily stand to jump up at them. That's unfortunately what my puppy is learning to NOT do. As the associate approached my puppy, he was very excited to pet Moose (my pup) then Moose decided to slowly jump up and lick him, the associate took it upon himself in "puppy baby talk" to address Moose's jumping and how he ..."shouldn't do that because he's going to be a big dog and that many people may not be used to that, especially being the size that you'll be! So try to stay down so people won't be afraid of you..." Him being a puppy is no excuse but let's be real, he's a puppy. And you don't need to address him like that to get me to listen because obviously I had him down for most of you "talk" so he wasn't going to "attack" you. Thank you for the advice and I admire that in such a young boy, but, it's all about the delivery, sis. Oh, and let's talk about the line. We were 4-5 deep while the employees stocking in the aisles adjacent to the register just glance. The reg may not be your station today, but, why don't you let the person know who is, they have a line forming, hell, a little acknowledgement wouldn't hurt! Skip this location. I hope things will be just as good when I come back to pick her up! ___update: I picked up my Abby & she looked great!! We had a very good experience with Petco! My puppy seemed excited and very loving toward the staff which made me feel even more comfortable dropping her off for future grooming visits. Stephanie from the grooming dept was excellent with Abby! She spent time while I was picking up Abby to talk to me about how the process went & other grooming tips. I have to say that I would give them 5 stars but the only reason why I am giving 4 is because the prices are still on the high side. Haha! read more

I took my Pomeranion to get her hair cut. So far I've taken her to three different places and they never listen. I took her to Petco in Stockton and I specially told them a few times do not touch her chest hair or her tail at all. What do they do they chopped her tail all crooked and cut her front chest hair as well. Omg I was so heated when I seen her. They did the same to her in modesto Petco. I told them face to face please do not touch her chest or tail. And what did they do? They chipped her all up. Why can't people listen to us customers. If I specially tell you not to cut areas and you go and do it wow. I should have to pay for this. It truly upsets me and they make me feel like they do it on purpose.
